Animals are incapable of the complexities of logic and emotion to get to that conclusion. If you want something to be frantic about, go to Africa and see the abandoned newborn infants piled in chicken wire crates in the hospital. Let's get priorities in order and no, a boy is not a dog or a pig or a rat.

When I got a lot of crappy dictations in my queue, I complained about this and asked WHO assigns the work, who gets the crap and who gets the good ones.
I was told that it is NOT assigned at ALL, the oldest is picked first out of the pool and so on, and that it is all random and nobody is favored.
Now I read in this post that the Leads (team leads ?) distribute the reports. Who are they? The owners, the supervisors or the QAs?
I had once an argument with a QA about grammar and I was right and she was wrong, and from that moment on I got the crappiest crap of the crap into my queue.

I agree with you to an extent...this is how it goes with the company I work for: QA DOES have the opportunity to assign work to the "MT" and there is the "Team Lead" who can assign the "MT" into whatever pool of work he or she pleases to do so. The aftermath would be that the "MT" will be given the crappy work regardless. I love the company I work for, but in the last month, there is a new "Team Lead" who is not playing fairly! I have contacted the ower of the company regarding this and hopefully things will be done right.

My office assigns work to me, and in DocQScribe, they come up with a little "R" next to the job number for "routed". Periodically, they are nasty and were obviously attempted and jettisoned by someone else. More often, however, they are a bank of reports for a particular dictator, who I suspect has gone through the channels and whined and wants all their reports NOW.
The pros of this situation:
One dictator for 10 reports means I can fly through because they're probably saying the same things over and over. Or at least I can get used to their style and plug away.
Sometimes the group I'm routed is awesome: seven podiatry surgeries or consults in a row.
I like to think that things are routed to me because my office knows I will sit still and type until every one of them is done. I'd like to think they can count on my accurancy and efficiency.
I take it as a compliment. Maybe it's intended that way for you too, even when it sucks rocks. My partner gets nasty, nasty dictators routed to her sometimes because she's one of the few people who can do them and refrains from whining. Building goodwill with your MTSO pays off in odd little ways in the long run. And again, while it sucks for you, it might your strong work ethic and accuracy that leads your supervisor to believe you are the one for these jobs. Take heart!

I'm being paid more as an employee than I was as an IC. On top of that, 75% of my insurance is paid for plus my taxes are taken out. I get paid time off and paid life insurance. Even if I was being paid less I'd still be making out if you look at the big picture.

Wal-Mart, years ago, was famous for only selling American-made products. THAT promoted capitalism on many levels, and RIGHT HERE IN THE US, not China, which is where they buy most of their goods. So who is getting rich here? It certainly isn't companies in the US who provide goods to Wal-Mart because very few of their goods come from the U.S. Also, they pay their employees very low and treat them badly. They have at least one class action discrimination suit against them. And let's not forget the numerous suits for hiring illegal aliens to clean their stores and LOCKING THEM IN!!! Also, did you even read the article Rad Guy posted? If you did, and you still defend them, even as a devil's advocate, that says a lot about you. By the way, I don't shop there and haven't for a long time.

Human nature
People generally don't talk about how happy they are on a regular basis. They tend to want to talk to others when something is bothering them, and focus more on the negative. So I guess it makes sense that you don't see a lot of posts that say "Ladeedah, how I love my job and what a stupendous day it is in the transcription world today!" The job is just a means to a happier life, not the definition of a happy life.
Personally, I feel honored that I am in this profession. Not because of the money or the skill and intelligence that it requires, but primarily because it allows me to be home with my daughter instead of shipping her off to daycare every day for some stranger to screw up. That is why I will deal with the lack of raises, crappy dictators, periodic lack of work, mgmt that is too overworked to care, etc. To be with my baby all the time and still bring in a paycheck, however meager it may be.

Suffering, with this video they showed us what they're going through. I feel it won't be long before this information becomes mainstream and I think the majority of people who see it won't stand for it, people who have more power than us who can take strong action. heat and animals
Thank you for keeping your animals inside. I do too. I have three dogs, four cats and two birds and they are right by my side. I do take the dogs out in the morning and hose them down, then they come into the house (what a mess..no biggie, I can clean it up, ya know?).

A friend of mine gave me a video about 4 years ago about factory farming and the fur trade and where our meat supply comes from. Please to to Farm Sanctuary on the web for videos, books, more info. But that video turned me into a vegetarian that moment! I have always loved animals, but some reason never made the connection. They feel pain like we do. They are thinking beings as well and know when they are going to slaughter. Each vegetarian saves 80 ANIMALS A YEAR. It is appalling the way these animals are treated not to mention the chemicals and food they are fattened up with during their short lives... this is going into YOUR food chain. Sorry to get on my soap box... but I feel very passionately about this cause. If you are interested, please research it further. The videos are extremely hard to watch, but that's the point --- it wakes you up! Harm no thing. Thanks for reading. Please don't bother blasting me if you disagree. It is my opinion. It will not change. You do not have to agree.

My dog will jump on her hind legs and "box" with you by smacking your hands with her front paws.
My cat likes to go berserk inside cardboard boxes. He also perches on my desk and dips his paws in my betta bowl. Then he climbs all the way up the screen door and yowls if I'm outside. Typical cat behavior, I guess, but this is my first kitty so it's funny. He's a loverboy, too. He crawls up on me, sticks his head under my hair, chews my hair, bites my neck, purrs and goes to sleep.

But I do use Estee Lauder and Oil of Olay. I consulted three dermatologists on getting Botox and they all said no way for me because I have no WRINKLES around my eyes or forehead ... at 39 years of age!

Instead of at least quietly agreeing (or disagreeing) that this action was awful you chose to attack the poster. Don't understand why you felt you had to do it. I too am sickened by abortion, child abuse and neglect. I am also saddened that man's best friend could by the thousands be killed like that. I am not saying that it rates up there with abortion in my mind, but gosh, that was an undeniably cruel thing and it certainly causes me to give pause.
