addressing a letter
I type for an office of 4 surgeons, but have just recently come across a few nurse practitioners that are referring pts to the office.  My question is how do I address the letter to them that my docs want to send.  In their dictation they are addressing it Dear Dr. so-so, but they do not have PhD's in their credentials so I don't think that this is correct.  How do you correctly address this person?

If you ask me, the world would be a better place if people were  a little MORE judgmental.  It's the notion that you can do just about anything without being judged that has gotten us into the mess we have in this country. 
Think of this before addressing issue with sister (sm)
Please be careful about making accusations. As a mother, you do trust your son, but, if you have the least bit of suspicion that your son and his mutual friends are also sexually active and drink alcohol when away from home, do not share these accusations concerning your niece with your sister. If you have a close relationship with your niece, talk with her first.

If this is true, encourage your niece to talk with her mother.

Patti...I really wasn't addressing the issue any particular company's employees.....sm
subcontractors, I was addressing the use of the word "help" to describe them. I think that word shows a complete lack of respect to any employee and if I worked for someone who used it when referring to me they wouldn't get any favors. I would do my usual high standard professional work but if an employer shows me lack of respect then I don't respect them enough to give them anything extra.
I'm so sick of broad emails addressing specific problems. sm

My national is notorious for sending out a sweeping email to everybody in the company when there is a specific problem with a specific client, done only by specific MTs. The same MTs keep making the same erros, upsetting the same client, but instead of contacting the offending MTs directly, they just send out a forwarded email to absolutely everyone.


 Here's a hint: The MTs making the same mistake over and over and over again AREN'T GETTING THE MESSAGE. They don't think it's them! Pick up the phone, or send a private email citing the specific chart/file and the erorr! Problem solved!  The lack of personal attention we're given is sad. No wonder we keep losing clients, they're probably given the same impersonal service. The past 6 months have been the worst, but I am couting the days until the worst supervisor I have ever had finally leaves this joint. 2 days and counting!!!!!

What I am hearing is some want a tranquil place to take a break yet still discuss things pertaining to MT, like a conversation you would have drinking a cup of coffee at Starbucks or Barnes and Noble. I don't think a lot of the opinions going back and forth would sit well in a peaceful environment. They would probably have to call security.

I don't think bringing it up will help the situation but I think that it's the arguments after an opinion is given that the OP is referring to. Can't speak for the OP but ....

maybe a meditation board or quiet room board might help...

and block this flamer from the board. We come here to chat nicely because we have isolating jobs and don't get out much. There is absolutely no need for someone to make these kind of statements to a mother. If her purpose is just to cause upset, then clearly she has no place here. Do the right thing.

I've been trying for weeks to get into chat.  No matter what name/password I use, it won't let me in.  I tried to reregister and it consistently tells me I'm not using at least six letters in my password even though the ones I've tried are 6 and 9, and then today it finally admitted I already had an account but when I clicked the lost password part it sent me to Error 404.  I'm about to give up.  Am I not holding my mouth right or something??? Hope you can help and get me into chat again.

I've emailed the administrator twice now and received no response (even gave her a few of the passwords that I know I've used on the internet).   I used to go into chat once in a while to see if anyone was there, but in the past few months I haven't been able to.  I tried every password I know I've used and even tried to re-add myself, but it says I'm already in the system (I know that because I used to be able to get into chat).  I've asked to have the password sent to me but it's never showed up.  How can I get my password sent to me again?

How do we get tot he Gab board and "funny" board - there is no selection - the only way I was able to get there was through your arrow when you moved it - will there be a selection for that forum on the forum main screen any time soon?

When we post on MTStars, can our employers ever find out who is posting?  The reason I ask is because there have been entire pages of posts removed after negative comments have been made about certain companies.  One of the companies actually threatened to sue the employee who was badmouthing them, even if what he/she posted was true!

I started using this board about 10 years ago, then quit for about 9, and just started using it again this year. I remember being on the board the day a poster asked if we could have a separate board just for MQ. We did, but now after coming back after 9 years, not much has changed on here....except we that are jobs are changing. It would be a nice to have a place to share experiences.

An employer cannot set a specific schedule for an IC. This link addresses the issue here :

An excerpt fron the site above notes :


"According to the IRS, workers are employees if they must comply with the employer's instructions about their work, receive training or direction from the employer, provide services that integrate into the employer's business, render their services personally (can't subcontract), have a continuing working relationship with the employer, must follow set hours of work, work full-time for the employer..."


 As is noted in the site linked above , the consequences for the employer are quite severe if the IRS determines that the company actually was treating you as an employee rather than an IC.


 


In general,
in a given occupational group the upward pressure that unions place on wages and benefits has the net effect of raising the income and standard of living of poor folk up to the level of middle class folk while the absence of unions tends to drag the income and standard of living of middle class folk down to the level of poor folk. That upward pressure on wages and benefits not only helps union members but everybody else working in that occupational group. Without the organized upward pressure, wages will sink like a rock.

Moderator, is there any way that there could be 2 job posting boards? sm
one for at-home positions and one for in-office positions or at least ask them to state which position it is for?  I see a lot of hospitals advertising on there but not many of them even state whether it is in-house or at-home positions. it would save a lot of wasted time on our part and there part if we knew this detail before we decided to apply, etc.
