I'm so sick of broad emails addressing specific problems. sm

My national is notorious for sending out a sweeping email to everybody in the company when there is a specific problem with a specific client, done only by specific MTs. The same MTs keep making the same erros, upsetting the same client, but instead of contacting the offending MTs directly, they just send out a forwarded email to absolutely everyone.

Here's a hint: The MTs making the same mistake over and over and over again AREN'T GETTING THE MESSAGE. They don't think it's them! Pick up the phone, or send a private email citing the specific chart/file and the erorr! Problem solved!  The lack of personal attention we're given is sad. No wonder we keep losing clients, they're probably given the same impersonal service. The past 6 months have been the worst, but I am couting the days until the worst supervisor I have ever had finally leaves this joint. 2 days and counting!!!!!

Problems as in communication?? If so, I'm soooo there. Sick of unanswered emails. No one cares

I was hired for a specific account/specific

work type.  I've learned the dictators, done the macros, now  they need to hire new MTs because the workload has increased, so they switch me to a very difficult account, doing everything but my normal work type.  Does this make sense?  I'm productive on my original account, not productive on new account, plus I'm majorly stressed. I do ESL 90% of the time but the new account is really horrible, not only ESL but they mumble and the quality of the dictation is bad.  If you took a new hire and put them on this account and they stuck it out, maybe they wouldn't think these dictators would be so bad.  I've talked with the MTSO and they say they'll switch me back and that lasts 2 weeks and then back to this horrible account.   It would be different if they called and said we need you to do this account for a couple of weeks, but it doesn't pay enough for me to do from now on.

I understand this is the way the business is and my griping probably isn't going to help anything, but I just had to get it out.

Very broad questions.

It's hard to give you specific what to buy, where to buy, etc. with the little information you have given.

Handheld recorders can be found almost anywhere. Staples, Office Max, Circuit City, Best Buy and Radio Shack all carry digital handheld recorders--you can spend as much or little as you want to.

FTP software is used to transfer files and there are lots of free programs available. You will need a secure server; you may already have space available with your ISP (I know Comcast offers free webspace--it's the same thing).

If you need someone to come look at your setup, the doc's office setup and determine the computer savvy of operators on both ends, you're looking for a consultation. Depending on your location, I can do that for you but there is a fee involved--email if interested. If you don't want to pay for the information, that's fine but be prepared to do your homework and lots of reading. You can't expect someone to answer your message with the specifics you're asking for.

Acute care is very broad..sm
Going from radiology to acute care and ER will be a big change I think. I am sure you can do it, but it will take some getting used to. There is such a wide variety of specialties in acute care and so much to know.
Taking the broad view
I am a confirmed job jumper and have seen a lot of *stuff* in a lot of different companies (8 so far). The thing is, I know what I'm worth and, between running out of work, being loaded up with the harder dictators, running out of work, cherry-picking, getting snippy emails from supervisors (or not getting any at all to a direct question), voice recognition (blech), and did I mention running out of work (in other words, all of the complaints brought up on this forum), I soon learned to move on fairly quickly if I wasn't going to earn enough money to pay my mortgage and raise a son.

The good news is I finally found a company and an account and a supervisor that meet my criteria and am at the 40K mark and counting. A month ago, after proving myself (in case you have to ask, that means sitting down for my assigned shift, following all account requirements, helping out beyond my regular shift if at all possible, and otherwise being generally indispensable), I got a 15% raise - which was even above and beyond what I was expecting. I'm happy, they're happy, the client is happy (I'm assuming), it's a great team, and life is good. Everyone please knock on wood!

Let me tell you what I've observed so far - 90% of success in this job is showing up when you say you will. This is a unique industry in that everything is done via phone and email, so your supervisor can't see if you're pretty or disabled or have a sincere face or a crazy busy household. They can, however, see when you're logged on and whether you're meeting quota.

Well, that's my 2 cents' worth.
I am sure that emails to clients and emails to IC --sm
transcriptionists rank in two different categories. Emails to transcriptionists are probably much more frequent, the supervisors have alot more work to do than sending emails and are in a hurry. Perhaps concentrating on your own work instead of typos in an email would be more productive. which is more important?? geez. give others a break.
Yes, if you are not addressing this with your
x
addressing a letter
I type for an office of 4 surgeons, but have just recently come across a few nurse practitioners that are referring pts to the office.  My question is how do I address the letter to them that my docs want to send.  In their dictation they are addressing it Dear Dr. so-so, but they do not have PhD's in their credentials so I don't think that this is correct.  How do you correctly address this person?
Not specially addressing hurricanes but
If you ask me, the world would be a better place if people were  a little MORE judgmental.  It's the notion that you can do just about anything without being judged that has gotten us into the mess we have in this country.
Think of this before addressing issue with sister (sm)
Please be careful about making accusations. As a mother, you do trust your son, but, if you have the least bit of suspicion that your son and his mutual friends are also sexually active and drink alcohol when away from home, do not share these accusations concerning your niece with your sister. If you have a close relationship with your niece, talk with her first.

If this is true, encourage your niece to talk with her mother.

I am the Walmart poster and I am addressing that prude

who is going back and forth with you!  I have to find an even more funnier list for tomorrow to see if I can get her going again, LOL!!!

Sounds like a real high IQ broad here - people like this give the industry a bad name

I AM SICK, SICK, SICK AND TIRED

Of bad dictators and QA that takes up for them!!!!  I am sick to death of:

1.  Doc saying paragraph after every sentence.

2.  Docs never dictating the first name of doc they are writing to.

3.  QA asking us to insert certain sentences in certain places for certain doctors who do not dictate them.

4.  Docs wanting their own specific headings but not dictating them.

5.  Docs who ramble, never saying period.

6.  QA asking us to **fix** their grammer, mistakes, fragmented sentences, and verb tenses and sometimes when we do, we are docked points for **not transcribed as dictated.**

7.  QA not wanting anything sent to them, stating **researach medical terms and facilities you are not familiar with.**  If they are not there to help us out, what are they doing there????

8.  Docs, NPs, and PAs who do not know how to dictate, pronounce, or spell.

9.  QA asking us to use BOS, but not knowing it themselves.

10.  Doing work I do not get paid for.

Before QA became involved, in years gone by, if a doc's dictation was awful - then that is what he got for transcription and more times than not, they would straighten up and make a better effort.  Not now - we or QA has to almost do the dictation for them!!  They are the ones with the medical degree - not us.  What happened to us just transcribing what is dictated.  Why can't they be responsible for what prints out??  If someone could let them know how much trouble their dictation style causes, it would cut my transcription time in half.  My list could go on and on.  It is a terrible time to be thinking about getting out of the business, but if this crap keeps up - I have to give it some serious consideration.  The job just AIN'T what it used to be.

the moderator's post was addressing issues in general,
it was not aimed specifically at the 'appalled' thread.

That's how I understood it.
Just slang for girls, from a long time ago. Lots of them.. Dish, Broad, Chick...
x
Patti...I really wasn't addressing the issue any particular company's employees.....sm
subcontractors, I was addressing the use of the word "help" to describe them. I think that word shows a complete lack of respect to any employee and if I worked for someone who used it when referring to me they wouldn't get any favors. I would do my usual high standard professional work but if an employer shows me lack of respect then I don't respect them enough to give them anything extra.
I don't get why you are getting these emails. sm

Do you give your email out? Do you buy stuff online? Do you have a firewall and a pop up blocker, etc.

I have an email address that very few people know through my ISP which is heavily protected. It rejects most attachments and even wouldn't let me open some pictures that my sister tried to send me.

I also have a Yahoo email that I barely ever use. If I do order something online, which is very rare, I give the company my Yahoo email address and then I will go there to check the status of my order.

I did this because I learned the hard way though. When I worked inhouse a few years back, the medication Levitra had just arrived on the market. I was transcribing, had no idea what it was and I Googled it. The hospital I worked at had no firewall protection, etc. and I got more emails than I can count on how to "enhance my male sexuality." It was so annoying!!  I was a grandmother of 2 at the time.

Get a new email address, give it only to those that you want to hear from. Do not open attachments even if they are from your best friend, and dump the old address.

Yes, I kept all the emails....
Out of curiosity, on what grounds would an MTSO have to justify contacting any of my previous employers/MTSOs? I've been MTing at home for many years and I had no idea an MTSO would or could call other MTSOs and say things that are untrue.

I had thought about a lawsuit, but I'm afraid of her!

No, she is not at Seascript.

Emails
Yes, we started receiving emails of this nature addressed from our own email addresses before Christmas. I called my internet company and started sending them to their abuse address. I also started checking my mail through their port instead of my own email program for a while, still do X days a week. Also, they told me to run a good virus/spyware/malware program to see if I had a virus. I run McAfee, Spyblaster and downloaded Ad-aware. Spybot is a good program if it doesn't interfere with your virus program, it does with McAfee. Check out KimKomando.com. She talks about many free programs for different issues. Some information you can access, other you have to be a member. This mail has stopped for me.
Blank emails-me, too

I have always used Spybot and Adware SE, but read they sometimes miss things, so I just bought NoAdWare. Was I surprized at the stuff it found compared to the other ones (including Norton AntiVirus, and my server software)!  I had 4 "dangerous" and 92 "severe" the very first day...that have been on my system for quite a while.

Since then, I have also been receiving blank emails. I'm now up to 5 every time I receive my mail. I've been getting a lot of junk mail all of a sudden and have no idea why. My favorites are winning the lotteries. If I believed them, I would have a bankroll of well over $100,000,000,000. The other ones where I am named in someone's will. Love it. Dream on.

Don't know what to say or what else to do about it without changing my email addess again, and I sure don't feel like doing that. I just did change it 3 months ago.

Generally no emails
As an IC at a small MTSO, if there is very low workloads, there is usually no email. I thought this was strange myself, since if it was my company, I would be keeping my people closely updated and thinking about them and their needs and anticipating their questions and concerns. I would have to take the initiative to email asking "is there anything wrong?" or "is something the matter with such-and-such account?" or "is there a technical problem somewhere?" I would then get an email answering my question. I think it is impolite and unprofessional for a business not to keep their people closely posted and put them first.
PS - the other emails are horrendous

stupid emails!
Does anybody know how to keep these ridiculous emails from coming? It seems like every day I'm getting more and more of them, you know, the ones that have absolute nonsense in the subject line? I don't read them, just delete them, but I must get 15 or 20 a day and I'm sick and tired of it. I feel like my privacy is being invaded, and it is just junk filling up my mailbox.
stupid emails
Okay then, again, thanks very much for your help. I am going to check this out because at this point I'll try anything to stop the insanity! It's just crazy the stupid, stupid stuff people send via email to clog up the mailboxes. I wonder, does anybody even READ this junk? And better yet, does anybody ever BUY stuff from this spam email? Sorry, I just get carried away with this subject; it's a true thorn in my side. Again, I thank you.
Yes, they can read the emails. nm

Maybe the *other* board is where the emails came from : )

Saving sent emails,,sm
saving sent emails may sound like a good idea, but that is taking up storage space in the email box. I don't know how much quota your email service provides, but mine is not that much, and I have business class. Your sent box is counted as part of your quota, as well, so it would not be advisable to store a months worth of sent emails, particularly with attached files. perhaps she should look into using an FTP site where you could store the files in My Documents and then just send via ftp, which is a whole lot faster than email and it is encrypted for transfer. suggest it to her. and then start charging her for time spent resending files. That is her job, not yours. my boss occasionally will ask for an individual file to be resent, but never a whole months worth. maybe you should also start looking for different employment. I could not work for someone who got mad at me for something she did. sorry. JMO.
She stated they were using them in emails,

lewd emails
Yes, I got a bunch of those.  It came from a site that was sending me emails on panic disordewhich was totally unrelated to such things.  The person who operated the panic attack site was very apologetic, she had been victimized by the viagra peddlers and  unwittingly passed it on to her subscribers.   My computer did not get the virus and I set spam filters to reject anything with Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and now the problem is almost gone.  They  do go in spam folder on AOL and I  look there occasionally to be sure that some of my good email hasn't been accidently put there.  Looking at the subject lines sometimes makes me laugh.  these sex pill vendors are either semi literate and/or foreigners.
Check your emails! nm

Just was looking at another MT site and MTs from MQ are talking about getting emails from the
supervisor threatening them to hire more MTs if the accounts arent kept in TAT and they are sitting there with no work. I think MQ must be so desperate anymore that they are losing their minds. They must work for Amherst also. They keep hiring and hiring and if the weekend has one report out of TAT they hire more people. These companies are losing it I am afraid. I wonder if MQ is losing more accounts that they are doing this.
emails for action plan
and now they send out emails wanting to know our action plan for wkends, whether we are working, so they are cvd. no extra $$, just remind you to "get the lines while you can"
Your emails don't make sense

There are scam emails that claim to come from
Gotta be careful.
I tried that out once...WAY too many emails...DROVE ME NUTS!!!

I just use Outlook Express, so my emails - sm
our stored on my computer (40GB), so in my case it is not an issue. If the OP sends her emails the same, then she can easily save the work emails unless she has a very old computer with no substantial hard drive.
keep track of emails; keep producing; it's all you can do.
nm
the grand total is 3 so far from the emails I am receiving....thanks everyone - nm

I am a supervisor and trust me you don't just send emails and
take it easy. There is a lot of responsibility to it and it is a stressful job.

Your email address is invisible to anyone who emails you
through the MTStars website.  If you, however, reply, then the receiver would be able to see your email address.
Often it is the clerk who types up and sends emails. nm

My group gets encouraging emails and thank you notes
I guess I'm mature enough to read it and if it does not apply to me, ignore it the language in it and use the intent to make sure I am cautious.

How do you download multiple attachments to emails?

I just started with a company who sends their voice files via attachments to an email.  Is their an email (yahoo, aim, aol, msn.....) that will allow you to download all attachments at once instead of 1 at a time? Thanks Karen

I haven't noticed emails being posted
I know someone can email you, but I don't think it is listed so that they can see? I don't quite understand your post either. You are trying to dig up information on your neighbors on this site? My brain must be tired today, because I don't get it.
How sad that no one called U. Think you can get news alert emails
s
You would have to leave the emails on the server and dl them to both computers.
thats easy.
My x-rated emails were innocent on my part
I am larger size lady and went on the internet looking for plus size clothing sites. Well, the internet had a mind of its own and went to plus size ladies. I got all kind of stuff sent to me. Hey, I am a married lady and only looking for clothing, not a date.
You need to start the EMAILS starting a few days sm
prior to ending pay period and keep it up daily until you get a reply it is mailed. Don't sit and wait, the pattern is established and then start looking around for a new job. They EXPECT Turn Around Time from you, sooooo what do they give
That is such Cra_.
Just send emails to your team and take it easy... you really thing that is what

I can sense the stress and impatience in company emails.
The snappy tone, shortness, and rudeness. Excuse me for bothering you, honey, but it's your job.
Anyone know anything about getting paid to do online surveys? I've been getting these emails to

sign up to do surveys and get paid for it. Does anyone know if this is legit, or who does this? I'd like to try it. I didn't follow through far enough to see if there's a fee to sign up with this company or not.
