well, I interviewed for an in-house job Monday

She said by today, Friday, she would let me know if I got the job.  She told me I was high on the list of being hired, but she was still interviewing.  It is already nearly noon and I have not heard a word.  I looked at the job board and the ad for an MT is gone.  Is that bad news for me?

I interviewed for an in-house pathology MT - sm
position a few years ago. What they did was a transcription typing test, so I had actual dictation and of course they timed me. I did okay there I think without any errors I was aware of but speed wise I tend to type a lot slower when being tested as I just freak at typing tests. Then they interviewed me, and I feel so dumbb at interviews, 2 people at once, totally dumbb questions for the most part with nothing to do with transcription. I thought I did well but did not get called back. They gave me a full tour of the facilities, etc, the MT office, the lab, etc. Let me "interview" the MTs there too. It was quite interesting.
have you interviewed them?
I always have a ton of questions, and talk with the recruiter at great length about what I am looking for and what they are offering. That might help hone it down.
I interviewed with them and turned them down

but can't remember all the details.  I think they offered 10 cpl for IC and 11 cpl for lines over 12,000 per pay period.   You have to "punch the clock" , which I just won't do.  Sorry I don't remember other details.

So you've interviewed MOST of them?....LOL

Saw a program on CNN or one of those stations, and it was a call center in India filled with hundreds of well-dressed professional-looking MTs and they said:  *average age 27 with a business degree* compared to "average age 49 in the US with no degree"....

Seeing hundreds, and it was a 2005/2006 show, - I believe that show.  You may have interviewed a few dozen Indian MTs IF YOU are in the US but not MOST Indian MTs.  *S*

Have a nice day!

I interviewed for a job today

Most of it went well.  They pay the same cpl as most the other companies I have looked into.  They pay for headers if you have to type them in yourself, which is better than what I got elsewhere.  The scary part is that all they pay for is the training phone call and then straight production, they really don't give you time to lean the account to build up speed and make money.  I asked the interviewer if the account they were putting me on was busy all the time.   She said yes.  I asked her if it was saturated with ESLs.  She said, "it is out of Texas, What do you think?"

Those were the only 2 red flags I saw was the straight production after the 2-hour phone call and I might be stuck on an account that is saturated with ESLs. I did like the fact though that I will be using eScription instead of ExText.  I never used eScription before, I have always used ExText so I am excited about learning something new.   I do need health insurance and theirs was pretty inexpensive.  I am not sure what to think.  Am I going to be in over my head?

I applied to 2 more places and have not heard from any of them yet.  I did hear from one Friday and they said I needed to fill out another application.  I filled one out online and they e-mailed me to fill out another one.
I don't know anything about transolutions, interviewed, tested, and
offered position with Cymed.  The pay is average, lots of ESL, offered 0.5 cpl more if I do more than 1800 lines a day, which I do occasionally, but not often enough that I would have a bunch of extra $$ each pay period.   The person I interviewed with was an HR person and hadn't the first clue about transcription, so her answers weren't very good to questions.  I did specifically ask if the offshore and she reluctantly said they do.  I know they offshore to the Phillipines and probably India, and they are support of the move to offshore to Trinidad.   I was offered 8 cpl and have 20 years' acute care experience.  I was told there were lots or opportunities to earn big $$ in bonus money, but I'm not looking to be chained to my chair another 4 hours a day.   My main decision for declining the position was the offshoring.
Unless he is being interviewed by another teen (probably not), shorts are NOT appropriate. What is

Lord forgive me for saying this, but at the start of this, they interviewed her roommates on CNN, I
think. Maybe Fox. At any rate, the girls were rather "smug" about it all, said that Natalee was quite taken with this Dutch kid and had basically "dumped" her friends the last 2 days to hang all over this guy.  When they were asked what was "so special" about him, they said that Natalee was quite flattered that he was paying attention to her, as he was considered the "#1 Catch On the Island"...So, that certainly explains why her friends weren't "covering her back". She had ditched them more or less to be with Romeo.  Happened to me a lot in the "old bar hopping days" with my girlfriends.  One would hook up with some total stranger, and just dump the rest of us "singles" for the night.  Luckily, they all lived, though we did have a scary encounter now and again, this being in Southern Florida.
I'm not happy with my current position, but I've interviewed
tested and me offered positions with at least 12 other companies and none of them have anything better to offer, all less money, all set schedules, etc.  Read the job boards and see what is out there and if you want to test the waters take on a PT IC position - of you can test and interview with multiple companies without making a committment.
Interviewed last week, 1200 lpd, low pay, lots of restrictions. I said no. nm

I read the story and they interviewed people who work in the
Luis Vuitton store. They said they had 3-4 of the debit cards used just that day. Other high end stores were reporting they were being used in there as well. One guy on tv was interviewed and said he was unemployed yet he was going to buy a car. That means he'll probably have no insurance, probably no license. Every single taxpayer is paying for these unemployed, young "disabled" people with a bunch of kids who have chronic back pain or <insert whatever disorder here> to go shopping and not for needed things like food and diapers.
I interviewed to work in a pharmacy ... haven't heard yet, but -- sm
the company will send their pharmacy clerks to classes and pay for pharmacy tech certification, even though it is not required in New York state. Waiting to hear back from them this week.
It's Monday
I don't know about the rest of you, but I come here to gain insight, vent, laugh, commiserate, learn, and share.  Maybe we can start the week by ignoring the few that come on here to attack, belittle and chastise.  Constructive criticism is great as are differences of opinion. Isn't that what this site is supposed to be all about?  Name-calling and bullying are what we teach our children not to do.  When it happens TO our children, we tell them to ignore it.

Monday was my day too!

Hey all...

Yes, it was a bad Monday.  I also was told they were replacing me with a service.  She had said that it would be easier with having the same service do the two doctors that I did, and would that be okay with me.   It made me sad because yes, I count on that money to make ends meet, but rather than beg and plead, I said okay, and she said it will be a month before changing over.   I was just hoping there might be a way I can counter offer and keep this account, but I haven't a clue how I might access the hospital system's dictation as an IC....they are wav files.   I do have my Start/Stop player.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.   I try to believe in the philosophy of when one door closes, another window opens....and that is a good way to think, but right now I am very depressed because this economy and surviving is getting so very tough.    Thank you....ps, I have been doing MT for 27 years now, so pretty late to start over elsewhere.

You will have paycheck on Monday 711/05

Try again Monday night.
I'll keep trying.
Wow, a party on a Monday? Can I come?? (sm)
I'll bring food too; I'm a good coo, I swear I am!.
Monday Goals

I thought that it would be good if we use each week as a chance to improve ourselves.  We can each set a goal (it doesn't matter if it is big or small) and then we will share it with everyone to get us more motivation to complete it.

Here is my goal for this week:
I will do the dishes at least once this week.

A little background on this goal:  I hate housework.  I don't want SO to feel like I take advantage of him so I am going to try to make more of an effort around the house.

Anyone else with a goal and background for it?

Monday blooper

It was dictated as Allergies:  Sulfones.

I transcribed "Allergies:  Cell phones"  . . . . until I realized what I'd done.

Somebody beat me with a wet noodle!

It is NOT Monday, darn it!!!!
But it's going to be one of those days!  I had a doctor give the date of service as 4-8-05, and now I have one of the very worst ESLs ever dictating a colonoscopy, and he says the throat was sprayed with Xylocaine!  Think these guys have been hitting the eggnog a bit early?
Monday - I will lose an account

I just did the stupidest thing.  I could cry but it would not help.  I will lose this account due to my carelesness and not thinking.  I accidentally just erased two "undone" tapes and kept two "finished" tapes.   So on Monday I have to tell the doctor and if I were them I would fire me.   They have been my account for 4 years but have been patient with me at times through some personal problems -- yucky divorce -- and I do a good job at a very reasonable rate but I would not blame them if they fired me.  I just want to take myself out and beat myself silly.  But there is nothing I can do right now and so oneward and upward -- I guess.  But this will hurt as it is my largest account and I am a small MTSO so I will be out pounding the pavement for something.

Thanks for listening.

Oprah show Monday-have you let yourself go?? sm
I must admit this is me ever since I started working at home 6 years ago. Too easy to do. 6 months since a decent haircut, too many kids to look after and too much work to get done. I thought others might appreciate thesubject matter. Happy watching.
Oops..Monday=money

Monday's season finale
I taped Sunday's show and watched it tonight, and immediately watched tonight's show. I can't believe what Izzie did. I certainly was glad I could buzz thru the boring part about planning the prom so I could get to the important parts. I thought Denny was safe, but not so fast. Very tender how what's-his-name intern picked Izzie up and held her at the end. I'm furious that Meredith and Derek are back at it. She's weird, self-absorbed, childish, ugly, and slutty, so get over her already, Derek! You so don't deserve your wife!

Glad I don't get overly involved in mere TV shows like some people, hehehe.
Thx for the laff on this dreary Monday! :) nm

Monday night pet loss ceremony
So very sorry for your loss. Here's a great link:

http://www.petloss.com/ceremony.htm

Every Monday, people all over the world remember their pets. You can add your pet's name to their list.
Here is their prayer:

PRAYER: God, Creator of all living things, we ask that as we light our candles, the healing warmth of love will flow into the brokenhearted who are tending their ailing pets.
Give to them Your strength and comfort.
We also pray that the soft glow of light will part the clouds of grief and sorrow to surround our furbabies at the Bridge.

May excitement REIGN SUPREME as wagging tails, ecstatic purrs and flapping feathers feel our gentle touch once again.
May they know the gratitude we hold in our hearts for their faithfulness and gift of unconditional love as they are forever remembered.
We are temporarily separated for only a short while.
The silver cord that connects us through time and space can never be broken.

AMEN.

Yup. Sun-Thurs. I do the Monday holidays. It's fine with me.

We were $2.42 on Monday - shot up to $2.99 today and expected....sm
to go well over $3/gallon because of the pipeline distribution problem.  The governor has declared a state of emergency and is urging folks to not drive anymore than necessary while they're getting emergency shipments of fuel in.
How's your work load going Monday, January 9?
Just wondering if we are all in the same boat, sinking because of India oursourcing.
I needed the morning entertainment. My Monday will now be a better day!

I believe it is next Monday, the 19th, as the kids have off school for it.

Try the Hewlett-Packard site. On Monday they...sm
had computers with XP on sale.
Monday night- Friday, and either Saturday or Sunday, or both -sm
I usually goof off Saturday (or do very minimal work Friday night and Saturday) and then regret it and have have about 130 minutes to do on Sunday, does not make for a fun day.
Is Monday, Feb 12, President Day? Brain dead this morning. nm

Ok, thanks. I guess I don't realize the volume of applicants they get. I will call Monday A.M.!!

Monday 8/22. Used to start after Labor Day, but the kids didn't get out until sometime in June.

I've interviewed Indian MT's. Most have two master's. Most Indians have two master's
it is part of their government's specific plan of action for positioning India to be at the forefront of the global economy.
Yes.. In my house! nm

DQS in-house
I would think this is a dream come true. DQS can be used/bought by independent companies including hospitals and it doesn't necessarily mean that MQ is taking over the account or has anything to do with the MTs on staff at the hospital. Hopefully this is the case for the OP, because that is wonderful.

Also, regarding the demographic field, she is probably familiar with the little things of the hospital that sometimes MQ MTs struggle with, especially those of us with multiple accounts, like who dictates for whom, doctors who put in their wrong IDs, who gets copies and who doesn't, etc.

I hope MQ doesn't mess with the account too, because she, IMO, has the perfect set-up because DQS is really a pretty decent program and to be able to work on ONE account, in-house, would be my dream come true, anyhow! :-)

Oh, but maybe she should be warned that DQS is a speech recognition platform...
in-house
they are sending the supervisors or "workflow coordinators" (as they are referred to now) to work at home also. Those of us who cannot achieve the line quota are "offenders." I feel like I work for the devil himself. Not a good feeling :(
I do, my house is about as big as (sm)

a bachelor apartment.  It benefits me in the long run.

Get out of the house once in a while.
I get depressed, too, but I've got kids, animals, and everything else running around underfoot making messes.  Do you have any friends or family you can get together with for coffee?  What about puttering around a bookstore for a while?
Is this your first house?
If so plenty of programs available through Fannie Mae or FHA for first home buyers. If not look for a "rent-to-own" deal, usually sold by investors. You pay an "option" of usually about 5K to rent out the house for a year while you work on qualifying for a mortgage. Then a percentage of your rent each month is put towards your downpayment. The house is yours, and after a year if you qualify you have your home. Great program for those who have some bucks but not many of us can afford 20% on anything!!! Good luck.
Yes, but who does them in-house?
zz
House
I think House is very loving. I think he realized that Mark loved and needed Stacy more than Stacy loved and needed Mark, that Stacy really didn't know what she wanted and would regret it if she left Mark. Finally, the fact that Stacy had left him, House, before and now just wanted to keep him in the wings made him realize he had to put it to rest.

I think will free House up for someone else - hopefully not Cameron, she really needs someone her own age. It was creepy to see them on their date last year - looked a Dad with his daughter.
No. If in-house - yes! nm
x
We had them at our first house

We didn't plant them, but they were probably about 5 to 10 years old when we bought the house.  We sold the house about 8 years later.  A couple of them at that time had already died, and they all died within a few years after that and had to be cut down.

They are very nice to look at and grow fast. I did not have any problems with "sucker shoots", they all grew upwards.  The trees also do take the wind very well, never any broken branches, etc.   If you need a quick fix, I would certainly recommend them.  Only downside is that they are not very long-lived.

In-house MT job - sm

I would like to take a part-time in-house MT job.  Unfortunately, there a few jobs out there.  The local hospital has an ad for a full-time MT position.  I had applied there many years ago and withdrew my application.  The pay was quite low and the hours were not flexible at all.  For example, one hour for lunch meant one hour for lunch!

I wondered if I should apply and tell them I am only interested in part-time, not full-time and see if they are interested.  Or should I just assume that they are still very rigid in their thinking?  I don't want to waste their time or mine but really would like to go in-house a few days a week at this point.

What do you think?  TIA

Either it's your house or it's not.
Do not do any work to it at all until it is yours, in your name, and you own title. Period. Until that happens they are free to do what they want with THEIR house. They haven't cared about the condition of it thus far, so why should you until it's yours and you will reap the benefits of whatever money and elbow grease you put into it. They are not giving anything away until someone else's name is on the title. Don't let them continue to manipulate you. If their house isn't worth it than don't bother. If you can afford to put money into their cra!py old house you can afford to put money toward a new one of your own. They sound like truly selfish people and they are not going to change at this stage in their lives, are they? You seem to have the brains of the bunch. Put those brains to use. Get your own game plan to take care of you and yours and forget the rest. I speak from experience. You cannot change the pepole around you, only how you react to them.
I do not want an in-house job
I was only inquiring as to how companies hire employees and those employees may work more than 40 hours/week and not have to pay OT.   I think for the most part the ? has been answered.
She needs to get out of the house...
and make some friends in her new town. Maybe part-time preschool for the oldest, if not old enough for school, and she could meet some people that way. Or check out different churches. Or She definitely needs to meet new people near her. Until she establishes some kind of life where she is, she will continue to pine for the old life she left. Has she met any neighbors yet? Maybe visit a garage sale, even if she doesn't need anything, just to be out with people?
