well it takes a lot of nerve to get sm

on this board and tell American MTs how things are and how to do things when you can't speak the language or communicate well. You are suppose to be an MT but you can't speak the language? Well I doubt that the documents you put out are very good either! Sorry but this is the reason American MTs don't have MT jobs so you need to stick to your country and your MTs and stay out of giving advice here. IMHO.......sorry I need to spell that out, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION!

the nerve!
How dare you make a TV show about my life without offering to pay me?

;)

My LAST nerve

And they have the nerve to air those ads about

Obviously I am hitting a nerve somewhere
that you are taking offense to my posts. So which one is it, are you fat, ugly, have an acne problem or all of the above?
Struck a nerve, huh?
I just can't imagine any worthwhile MT being offended by what I said. The reason they wouldn't be offended is because they are the ones picking up the slack for these clowns! The losers I referred to are the main reason Indians are getting work from the US! If every American MT went to work every day and delivered top-notch documents, the Indians wouldn't be making a dime off transcription.

FYI, I don't hire Indians as I spend too much time each day fixing errors made by American MTs. Also, if you are working somewhere that you cannot respond to QA and show them where you documented what you transcribed, then I'd say you need to get out because it's a no-win situation and you are at their mercy.
Listen to the nerve of this one!
over and when I stood at the door, not letting her in, she pushed her way in anyway. I told her I was working and she said,"That's okay I will just sit in the chair beside you AND NOT TALK!" Oh, and she did...but her baby didn't, he cried and screamed until he fell asleep and she sat there and looked at me for over an hour. Let me tell you, that will never happen again. Learned my lesson then and there!
People have a lot of nerve.
I am not trying to be rude, but what kind of friend pushes her way into your house just to distract you while you work? What was the point?
Do you think you have a pinched nerve?
Pinched nerves can cause a lot of problems.  You may want to call your doctor today.  If you had a stroke you should be checked out ASAP.  Not everyone dies with a stroke.  Some people have them and don't even know it.  Good luck.
Hmm, seems to have struck a nerve.
aa
Wow, you really don't like me! I must have touched a nerve with you.

Do you work for the AAMT or are you a MTSO cheating your MTs or outsourcing to India?  Or maybe you are one of those holier-than-thou QA people I've railed against?  You know, the ones that never make mistakes and stroke their egos by finding mistakes in everything from medical reports to generic posts on a casual message board?

As for my dismally failing blog - um it's just a blog, my own personal soapbox.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Oh and thanks for reading it.

i've been through that too...ppl have nerve,
i think after 3 years of working from home i have finally taught my mom and my sister to quit calling and asking me to run here and there for them, ....took a while, didnt want to hurt their feelings...but its like...they cant do it becuz they are working...HELLO!!!!!!!!!!
eScription on last nerve
Posted over the weekend and got a response but just wondering, anyone else working on escription that the program is really, really slow, like jerky in the audio and then jerky for you to transcribe if doing straight typing? Had new ram put on and have fast access so really don’t know what else I can do, cleaned up the computer as far as defraging it. Any other ideas?
Some peeps have nerve

Well my goodness...SIMON...how interesting that name should be used for such a rude post...wonder if its a real name or does he wish he were SIMON off of that tele show...you guys know which one I am referring too, or maybe HE is is love with the other Simon...oh who knows...anyway...to point out your ignorance Simon, just because someone does not know the next steps to take in regards to opening a business or whatever the case may be  and that person ask questions of others who may know, well that only educates them more.  There is never a "DUMB" question. We learn by asking questions by talking and listening to others. You Simon have pointed out the true reality that there are  those who assume or dont ask questions or make rude comments to cover up their own lack of intelligence.  And you Simon, well you just put your ownself in that category.

One nerve left
"The decision to change the name of the organization from AAMT to AHDI was made by the members of the House of Delegates (HOD). These are volunteers elected by the membership..."

That was smart. You didn't pay anyone to do your dirty work for you, which must let you off some legal hook or other.

"The HOD felt it was important to broaden the name of the organization to include anyone working in healthcare documentation - as many transcriptionists are working in peripheral roles as editors, QA personnel, supervisory and management positions, educators, ..."

...Indian MTs, whose business now supports AHDI management in the manner to which we have become accustomed,...

"etc. Speaking for myself, I haven't transcribed a medical report for pay in at least 5 years, so calling me a medical Transcriptionist no longer encompasses my role. Nonetheless, I am passionate about the integrity of healthcare documentation - and I developed this passion as an MT. For me, AHDI is a better representation of where I fit in..."

...and we definitely needed to relieve ourselves of that pesky restriction to American MTs, which is why we unloaded that dinosaur...

you are young and dumb. The nerve of you to say
why have children if you are going to put them in daycare.  When I was going to graduate school and working I became pregnant.  I didn't expect my husband to quit his job and I sure enough was going to stop graduate school my six months.  My triplets went to daycare and was fine.
I agree-the nerve of some people

i bet you spell the peroneal nerve as
=
Must be a grain of truth in there somewhere to have hit a nerve.
!
You'd like to hit a nerve, I'd like to stick to facts
My comments weren't made to bicker back and forth with someone who wants to have a personal war and claim touche' afterwards. They were made of my observations of what I saw with smooth transcription flow. I have no control of your choice to twist them. You know nothing of me, only that you did not like my observations. Call it whatever you will.
The company would have the nerve to appeal
This is ludicrous to say the least. Many MTs are single earners in their homes. I think to do such a thing should be broadcast across the nation. If this is happening, please let us know which companies are doing it.
whatever dolfan. touched a nerve apparently.

don't let the truth ruin a perfectly good Sunday.  that is if you actually can absorb the truth of my posts which are probably perfectly clear if one is not so angry they can't see straight like you are at this point.  go back to dreamland my friend and stay where it's all comfy and cozy and no one disputes your FINAL WORD!!!!(hopefully)

PS:  We all state opinions here and not all of us are "liars" or "trolls" because they don't agree with your opinion.  Meditate on that.

have any horseback riders here lost their nerve

after being hurt and got it back again?  i have no problem getting on as long as all goes well, but when my horse spooks or something i feel so danged unnerved, which is totally new to me after all these years.  does it just take time or should i hang it up?

I think you'll be OK but I totally lost my nerve sm
I switched to riding bicycles LOL (probably way more dangerous since I ride on the road)
yep - maybe your very nice post struck nerve?.

Your question/post was very nice and gentle I thought - and the other poster's response was totally out of whack - perhaps you struck a nerve!  *LOL*

Have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!  Ignore the trolls....they are all over the web, as you well know.

Bursitis or nerve impingement. Have it checked out.

I got common plantar nerve neuroma

in my third toe. It bends towards the 2nd toe and if you try to spread the toes, it curves unnaturally and does not bend too well. I used foam spacers for it and it did straighten out somewhat and go partially back into the correct position.

I also get swelling in both ankles and legs plus tingling and numbness sometimes. I have to keep getting up and moving around a bit for that to go away.

Being out of touch is a hazard of our job, but one reason you touched a nerve SM
that you should be aware of so you won't be surprised in future is that "ESL" is also code for bigotry, with in some sad cases the fussing over the genuine problems with achieving an accurate transcription just windowdressing for the real complaint.

Personally, I find the world and its people a fascinating place and love the way the Web has brought it to me in my little rural Georgia office, including the very wide range of attitudes here.
When your neck muscles are strained, it traps the occipital nerve.
I am with you on the "I can't get rid of it, and it kills me." Do some research on peripheral stimulators. They implant them in the occipital region. They stimulate the area with electricity that overrides the pain with a pleasant paresthesia. Plain English: It is like having a G-spot in your head; it feels so good. Another theory is that it changes the ions in the cells. As posted, I am anxiously awaiting mine to be reimplanted. You control the stimulator with a device to stimulate the strength and pulse width needed to cover the pain. It is fabulous!!!!!! Beats pain pills, which I am so sick of now.
Yup, and all those happy rabbits and cats think WE'RE gonna feed them. The nerve!
And no matter what we say, they'll just keep on having baby after baby, just like animals!  The unfairness of it all! What will become of us all?
Takes one to think you know one?

Whatever it takes
to remove yourself from that situation within reason, do it.  If you think the arrangement with your brother is going to keep your BF from slinking back in, the 'brother' all the way.  If his habits change in the future, you'll just have to make necessary adjustments at that time.
Takes one to know one!
I am with the program and I enjoy very much working for MQ!

If people are not spoiled at MQ, then why on earth are they now complaining about having a set schedule? Why don't you get the with the program and look at all the companies that are hiring and when you realize that 90% of those companies want a set schedule, then I will be waiting here for an apology. Until then, go brush your teeth!

As far as being a dope, why the heck are YOU STILL WITH MQ IF THE SUPPOSEDLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF YOU - HMMMM????

As many as it takes! LOL
If the doctor dictating can't be bothered to dictate away from the gossiping females at the nurses' station, speak clearly and slow down, why should we lose money because they're inconsiderate? It's better than guessing and getting it wrong or just making stuff up. You'll get the hang of the more difficult dictators if you keep on doing them, but even they can't control background noise or static.
you have what it takes to be and are sm
a successful MT! I don't see how anyone could be a good MT with an interest in medicine. Too much of this business about how many lines to type nowadays etc and no interest in medicine, no wanting to do research etc. I have seen several folks like you in my career and hired every one of them. They are still transcribing today and have great careers. I am beginning to think its futile to try and explain this to some folks. They either get it or they don't and want to argue.

Obviously you are a great MT and you know what it takes. I have a couple ophthalmology books and can part with one if you want it. E-mail me!
A blank is what I would put. Root (nerve root) is all that comes to mind.

here's what we did -takes awhile, but
if you have a video camera, tape every car that stops at his place and any transactions you might see (you do not have to be outside to do this - through a crack in the curtains/blinds works) take the tape to the cops - they will handle it. Or maybe they already have him set up on a sting....or are on the take. Where do you live city/state-wise?
Takes a few pp's for deducts to come out.
Yep, filled out paperwork first.

Call your supv or better yet call your training coord or payroll people.

That's what they are there for.
I can't do that because it litterally takes my
breath away. It's like I'm smothering. My aunt had wood heat and I couldn't even visit.
Date? Isn't that where a guy takes you out
And expects to get sex afterward? If you don't cooperate, that's the last time you will ever see him. No thanks-- my furry critters are a lot more loving and faithful and are not the least bit selfish.
What's the difference if she takes
6 hours to do 8 hours' worth of work, or if she takes a break for 2 hours after she does say 5 1/2 hours, comes back and finishes up her "8 hour" schedule? Would that make you "feel" better? Oy-vey!  A day's work is a day's work, but you want ALL of her time. What is the problem? Work ethic? I think not.  She has done a FULL days' work in less time than what you would like, so what?  If one does 8 hours' work in 6 hours, then anything over her 6 hours would be OT, oh that doesn't count in your book.  Would you pay more for her to work OT?  I bet not... The only thing she would get for being a good, fast transcriptionist is fired for NOT doing more than her share...niiiiiice... Crazy!
It takes a little while to get used to the lingo, sm
but you'll do fine. Just get in some practice before you start on production. BTW, I've noticed over the years that most of the work services get as "overflow" is ortho and OB/GYN.
I have heard that before but the one that takes the
cake is the one who took the recorder to the bathroom with him.
It takes concentration
Just imagine you are Jessica Rabbit - remember the way she walks? LOL
Mine always takes...
the $ out immediately.  Most of the time the transactions show up within an hour or two online.  There are times when the $ is taken out but the transactions don't show up for several days, sometimes even a week.  I wouldn't worry too much about it. Since it is a holiday weekend, they probably took the $ out already and it hasn't shown up yet.
$22.00 plus tip, takes 1/2 hour nm
s
Awww, that takes the fun out of it! sm
I look like a little kid when I eat corn. I just love it. I wind up making a meal out of it. I have butter, salt and pepper on my face and don't bother to wipe it until I am done. Terrible, aren't I? But, it is so yummy.
I have just found that it takes sm
so much more that just the actual typing when you gain your own account.  You have to deal with the obtaining your money part, and the phone calls for dictation not in place or they misplaced it.  It is great, but there are some downfalls to having your own account.
Try ctrl-Z and see if that takes it away.
Meanwhile, i'll research it.  :)
It takes time
It probably seems like it is not worth it because you are new.  No other account will be easier and probably harder.  So you have to stick with it, get a good Expander as since you have the same doctor you should only be actually typing about 2/3 of what he says and probably more like 50%.  Use your autocorrect if you don't have an expander.   You don't say how long are your lines -- what side margins and what font are you using?   I have helped get newbies started and always paid between 7 and 9 depending on how much clean up work I had to do.  Again, it will take time and practice.  Don't give up.  Though 6 cpl is a little low, if it is still  65 character line, in time you should be able to get 200 to 300 lines per hour which is not bad and once you get him down good, ask for a raise.  But you have to get your speed up.  You have an advantage of having the same doctor and so listen for his common phrases and put them at least into autocorrect so you don't have to retype them.  If he doesd any x-rays or procedures, make templates.  Anything to save him time.  His exams, put into autocorrect, etc.   Are you an IC or an employee???   Good luck.
Mine does that too and it is because it takes
so long to expand that I'm typing the next word.  No matter how much I adjust my settings it still doesn't expand fast enough.  I used PRD for years and got spoiled I guess.  It could expand entire physical exams in the time it takes ShortHand to expand COPD.
It takes me about 8.5 hours...
But I do about 1600 lines per day
