EMR/EHR is to be in place by 2014 and penalties will be slapped on those who don't have it in place. I'm going back to school. I started researching the other day and there are a lot of EMR programs that eliminate MTs. I was surprised how many there were. So, I decided to Google my accounts and EMR/EHR. Come to find out, my backup signed up with a company for their EMR program, to start later this year. As far as this specific program, they have an add-on that eliminates MTs. I'm hoping to at least get a 2-year degree before my primary does the same. I have not heard anything from my sups regarding the hospital going EMR, but the article I found was recent, just within the last 2 weeks. Anyway, good luck to everyone involved in this. I wish those MTs staying in the business the best.
