Went up the ladder at the Q in the good ol' days without my CMT. I think the CMT status now is designed just to make money for AHDI, nobody else.

I have been both the lead Transcriptionist and QA, both of which I got based on my skill set since I have no interest in getting my CMT. Some services do pay out a premium for CMTs. However, every company I have worked for in the last 15 years has given me the CMT rate based on my skill and experience. Perhaps it's one of those things that's more valuable for a newer transcriptionist than those of us with a wealth of experience to back up our delusions of grandeur.
