I got a 6% raise (plus cost of test reimbursed) when I got my CMT.

Years later and at a different hospital, I got a promotion to lead MT because of it, along with a hefty raise. I can't state the amount because I know at least one of my colleagues frequents this board.

Some services do pay a premium for CMTs. They are listed in the back of the AHDI monthly journal--I believe it's called Plexus.

I see all sorts of hospital jobs that state "CMT preferred." If you want to be the lead or to get into QA, you'll need it.
