In Reply to: putting 3-year-old in daycare - cnymt

I have two in DC (almost age 3 and almost age 4).  Its a lot of money, but I have to to keep my sanity. And the younger one really loves it.  I have found it necessary as I work full time.  Even today, with my dh off from work, I am having a hard time getting work done efficiently because they are home because of the holiday.

Sometimes it is necessary to do this.  Every child is different, and what works for one working mom may not work for another. People are always surprised when they find out my kids are in daycare - but when I do have to have them home while I work, they watch too much tv, or get into things, or get into the little preschooler squabbles that inevitably arise.  It just does not work for me.

So glad to see others do the same as me. It seems a lot of MTs try to juggle being a SAHM with being a WOHM.

My almost 4-yo might go on an abbreviated schedule and stay home more, but she is very easygoing, independent, and still naps, so it will work out OK. My youngest pretty much needs to be in daycare while I work.

Next year, they will both go to half day preschool instead - will save me about $120/wk.
