Whoa!

Slow down there!!  First of all, I was not suggesting that she pawn her children off on someone else for eight hours a day out of sheer convenience for herself.  I was a stay-at-home mom until my son was 3-years-old and then I HAD to put him in daycare because circumstances changed and I had to go to work.

I was simply pointing out that it is good for children to develop social skills before entering school.  I have talked to numerous teachers about this and I also have a background in education.  No, I do not believe it is right for someone to use daycare to "get rid" of their child for 8 hours a day simply because they don't want to deal with them.  It would be a perfect world if all mothers could stay home with their children all the time.

I'm glad you had the opportunity to stay at home and be with your children.  I was able to do that for a time, and now that I am working from home I am able to be here every day when he comes home from school.  Not everone has that luxury.  Some people have to work.  I was simply pointing out some of the benefits of daycare to the original poster to help her feel maybe just a little less guilty about her decision.

And I don't appreciate the intimation that I am a bad parent or would be a parent who would pawn off my child simply because I don't want to deal with him.  That was very insulting.  Every person's situation in life is different, and just becuase you have everything all figured out and the way you want it, doesn't mean that the way other people do things is wrong.
