ethical issues

Hello out there. I am a MT student and needing some ideas for a project I have on ethical and legal issues that a MT might encounter. Could someone give me some ideas?

Things like you know something about someone, but you can't tell anyong because of HIPAA, JACHO, or a law.

I am having a hard time, everytime I have an idea I can't seem to find a law or HIPAA regualtion to back it up. I have to have 3 ideas. One is where a physician gives a patient too many Rx for pain pills. I just draw a blank on any other ideas.

If someone could send some ideas my way, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Don't blame all schools for what some do. Some are ethical.
Some schools are ethical and provide a good education in return for the cost of tuition. Some don't. They all don't fit in one box.
No, you did not address all the issues...sm
Such as...

1. There was a poster below that asked if they already had the foot pedal and software, what, if anything, would you charge them?

2. You did charge my friend for Express Scribe free shareware, and that was the only software she was asked to purchase. When I contacted you regarding employment, you did not ask me to test (which is what legitimate companies do). Instead, you just asked for $99 up front in the form of a money order or reloadable cash card for "shareware" and did not specify what it was. It wasn't until after my friend sent you the money that she discovered it was free shareware.

3. If you do need a new employee to purchase their own software, why can't they purchase it themselves, or have the money taken out of their first paychecks, as other companies do? I know that DocShuttle can be purchased by individuals so they can download and submit files, and individuals can purchase it themselves, and that is what other companies have asked people to do.

4. Why would they need to buy a foot pedal from you? Anyone can purchase one on their own.

I am not trying to trash anyone. I am simply wanting to make people aware that there are scammers out there willing to prey on new MTs hungry for work. The real bottom line is, NEVER pay to work. So just be careful out there folks....
So, MTSO, are you going to address the issues
Why are you taking the money?
With your anger management issues, how do you

Format/Dictation Issues
Hey there, everybody! I'm currently training to be an MT through an online school and I'm having some trouble in specific areas.

First, Everything I'm studying and learning keeps telling me to type verbatim what I hear so I do that and then receive points off of my submitted assignments for not "editing for grammar." However, when I do decide to edit for grammar, I get points off for not typing what I hear verbatim. Are there any tips I can get on doing this? When do I know to edit for grammar?

Second, formats! I have a ton of reference books but I'm still having a little trouble knowing which formats to use. My current assignment I'm working on is a discharge summary but it doesn't really match the examples I have. How do I know which one to use so I meet the standards of my school and pass the assignments?

Third, I'm having some trouble with dictation quality. What would be suggested for the really fuzzy dictations that sometimes mumble words?

Thanks :)
You still haven't addressed the issues brought up below . (sm)
The first sentence of your post above says you are going to address the issues posted on this board, and yet you STILL haven't addressed these issues, such as why you take money upfront instead of letting people buy their own software, why you charged for software that is free, why does someone need to buy a foot pedal from you when they can buy it on their own, and if someone already has a foot pedal and the software what would you charge them. It seems you're skating around the issues instead of addressing them. This has nothing to do with pleasing people 100% of the time, and it has nothing to do with personnel issues. I don't work for you. This is about enlightening those who need it about the scams that are out there.

And you DO respond to these posts very quickly. You responded to my original post INSTANTLY.
how about circulatory issues. never heard of circulatory shifts
