Just going by my experiences
I grew up 7 years in an episcopal church, then 5 years in a methodist church, 3 years in a catholic church with studies to convert from methodist to catholic. Then I spent 1 year going to catholic services in the military, then 1 year going to protestant services in the military, then 1 year going to mormon services in the military. After that I spent the next 10 years going to jewish services, baptist services, non-denominational services, a more mormon services, and lastly charismatic services. So I would say I've got a pretty good idea of what they teach at all the churches I've been to. The final straw was the baptist and charismatic services where they changed bible versus to fit their way of life. When I pulled out my King James Bible and my New American Standard Bible, the versus were different. Not just a word or two, the entire meaning was different. That and just listening to the leader of the church talk about whatever he was talking about - the hair on my neck stood up and I refused to go back after that. Now I search out the truth for myself and have found myself a more spiritual person than I ever was sitting through those weekly doses of brain-washing and walking around with the glassy-eyed look that most have.
2 first hand experiences
1) In London, many many years ago when my then husband was a chemical engineer working in the Middle East (we were on vacation in London) I became sick and a friend took me to a clinic. I saw a doctor, had tests, 1 xray, got medications and walked out. I kept asking "where do I pay, who do I pay?" and they said, it is free and I was not even a British citizen.

2) As far as insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies go...there is the crux of the problem. When we moved here to Tennessee, I went all over the place trying to get some assistance with my medication bills which had cost me close to $500 per month in Florida. I was not poor enough to qualify for any supplementals, and could not afford $500 a month (I had cut down to the 3 meds I really needed in Florida and just did without the other 2). Anyway, eventually, due to East Tennessee being a poor part of the state and people going without here a lot, certain pharmacies have cut almost all their overhead and have the least expensive of all medications. These are small "mom and pop" places, completely legal and above board, in fact, most are across the street from hospitals for convenience. What once cost me $500 for all 5 RXs now costs me $68. What does that tell you about pharmaceutical companies. I have a hard time believing the insurance companies are any better. Quite a profit margin I would say.

I have seen the stories about people going to India. They say the cost of flying, medical attention and aftercare is still less than it is here and that they can see a doctor of their choosing at a hospital of their choosing. It was on 20/20 or 60 minutes.
Or should I say a degree in BS......
x
I think there will always be a certain degree.......... sm
of dependence on oil, but I don't believe it needs to be foreign oil. I also believe that, while we are getting alternative forms of energy up and running, that we should also continue to drill, and yes, the caribou will adjust. I don't see complete dependence on alternative fuel as being a reality for a long time to come, simply for the fact that it will take a long time for people to convert their thinking as well as their homes and modes of transportaion to alternative means as those conversions can be expensive and most average working-class folks can't affort to just scrap their auto for an electric or hybrid model or install solar panels in their homes.

We are a country of excess, that is true, and we need to get back to basics like you said. Invest in American-made products, if you can find them, and let those companies who offshore production feel the pinch for a while. Supply and demand is the only way we are going to get offshored jobs back on our shores. If we demand American-made, then companies who offshore will have no option but to restructure or die.
But it isn't a degree in climatology. sm
Most of the scientists who try to "debunk" global warming are not climatologists.
Her journalism degree is why I can't take her seriously for VP. Just my opinion though. nm
3
That journalism degree sure comes in handy! LOL nm
3
4 year degree in journalism
SP has a 4-year degree in Journalism from the University of Idaho. Makes for some pretty interesting foreign policy, eh? At least O is an attorney, a graduate of HARVARD and knows LAW. If SP had a clue about law, she wouldn't be in so much trouble all the time for ABUSE OF POWER. Bring on Palingate!!!!
Went all the way, school, college degree
nm
Yes, it is true, Palin has a BS degree....
x
I voted for him and I have a 4-year degree
Guess I'm not so "uneducated" then, right?

He is the best thing that has happened to this country in a very long time and if people would take off their party-colored glasses they would see that.

Sorry you don't like him, but he is going to be around for a very long time, so you better get used to him. 8 years is a long time to choke on bile.
Greg Palast: Charged with Journalism in the First Degree..sm

Obama received his undergraduate degree from Columbia...sm
and his LAW degree magna cum laude from Harvard. He did go to Occidental College in Los Angeles for two years. He then transferred to Columbia University in New York, graduating in 1983 with a degree in political science. Hope that explains it.
Sam........surely you know where all this
I haven't made up my mind about either party, even though I must say Palin has certainly spiced things up and it's about time.

It's only when a party feels really threatened that they might lose do they come out swinging and we would all have to be living under a rock to not see the biased opinions of our media. After Palin spoke, you immediately knew which reporters liked her and which ones were put there to cover the RNC and couldn't stand it. All I had to do was change the channel ONCE to know who the liberal media pulls for and see how the reporters remarked about her speech. And because, unfortunately, so many get their biased views from their TV set, that is all they know and follow like little sheep behind the liberal media.

You do come out swinging when you're wqrried you won't get your way!!!!!
Surely (sm)

Surely with

such world-wide interest and buzz about this issue, you could find a more specific board to spread and discuss with other like-minded thinkers the minute details of this vast conspiracy.  I feel a little sad that you are wasting your time here when you think this is such a major crisis.  I am not clear what great disaster you intend to divert by blowing the lid off this story, but your efforts seem to be wasted here.

Yuppers, I surely think you are right!!
dfd
You aren't serious, surely. SM
This is the man who told the biggest lie of all time, i.e., the lie that launched the Vietnam War.  HIs presidency was filled with graft and collusion.  You can't be serious!
You surely know how to debate.....not

....and you are one high quality person.....not.

Someone we'd definitely want to listen and debate with.....not!!

Surely this can't be the same Bush...the one who never...
had an original thought and can't find the exit...surely this isn't the same Bush you all think deceived the whole country, plus the congress, plus the WORLD, into a war?? ROFL. Can't you guys even remember what you post??
Surely you are not advocating........ sm
allowing the elderly and sick to just die. You are referring to insurance companies, right?

I agree, however, that it is mostly the little guy (although auto workers with their exhorbitant salaries and benefits could hardly be called "little") that suffer the most when a company fails. In this case, though, the CEOs of all 3 of the auto companies are working for $1 a year. One of them, maybe Ford, was already doing that which may be the reason that Ford does not need immediate infusion of cash in order to keep going.

I wonder if this will be revisited after the first of the year when Congress returns from Christmas break. Now THERE is somewhere the fat should be cut. Why doesn't Congress cut the Golden Fleece plan and some of the salaries of lawmakers and legislators in order to help our country's economical picture? You won't be seeing that happen!!
you surely are jesting
Pick Hillary? Now there's a sure fire way to lose the election. That woman has so much bad baggage. We need a person with character. I like Joe Biden. I can trust Joe Biden. Hillary you can't trust her as far as you can throw her. Yea, right, pick a VP that says she staying in the race because there could be an assissination. Talk about always having to look over your shoulder through your whole presidency and she'd be just the person to do it. What better way to waltz right into the presidents seat. Then there were all of her dirty campaign tricks she pulled and the lies (talk about deja vu of Billy). And then on top of that you put her lack of experience along side of Obama's lack of experience and you've got 2 people in the white house that don't know what their doing, with Billy Bob roaming around on top of that.

Pick Hillary??????? Give me a break.
I surely will, good or bad. n/m
x
Surely he's jesting!

Former President George H.W. Bush said his son Jeb should run for president and blasted the New York Times for its grossly unfair criticism of another son, President George W. Bush.

During an interview on "FOX News Sunday," the nation's 41st president said Jeb, the former governor of Florida, is "as qualified and as able as anyone I know in the political scene" to be president.

"I'd like to see him run," Bush said. "I'd like to see him be president some day.

"As president, it's about service, service for the greatest country on the face of the Earth and the honor that goes with it," Bush said. "I think Jeb fits that description."

He added: "I mean, right now is probably a bad time, because we've got enough Bushes in there."

In the meantime, Jeb could take another job, his father suggested.

"If Jeb wants to run for the Senate from Florida, he ought to do it," Bush said. "He'd be an outstanding senator. This is a guy that really has a feel for people, the issues in Florida and nationally. And his political days ought not to be over, says his old father."

But the current President Bush's political days will soon be over, prompting the former President Bush to unburden himself about what he calls unfair criticism of his eldest son.

"It's been tough on his father and his mother," the ex-president said. We're not very good sports about sitting around and hearing him hammered, I think, unfairly.

"Now, there were some things that clearly he deserved criticism for," he said. "But I think the idea that everything that's a problem in this country should be put on his shoulders -- I don't think that's fair. And I'm not trying to get back in game by criticizing people, for example, the New York Times, but you know, it's just grossly unfair."

Bush said "it burns me up" when critics suggest he and his son are presidential rivals.

"There isn't any such competition," Bush said." We're very close, and we remained close for many, many years. People don't quite get that. But we are very close as father and son."

On Wednesday, Bush will join his son for a White House lunch that will also be attended by former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, as well as President-elect Barack Obama. Bush does not know the incoming commander-in-chief well, but spoke highly of Obama.

"I talked to him right after the election and... assured him that he was my president," Bush said. "I've very impressed with his style on the campaign and his coolness and his articulate nature. I think he can give a sentence and it'll sound like it's been thought out by Shakespeare or something

Ummm...you surely know!!
.
Surely you have a better come back
no shame on me!
I am not in your life....I am in the life of the baby...
and will continue to speak for the baby. Again, my right.
I'm surely NOT RICH and I want no part of it in my

country.  Like the other poster said, Cuba has real estate for sale.  How many Cubans (besides that little boy that was adrift and landed in the US) actually want to go BACK to Cuba??

That surely should open some eyes. (sm)

I sure hope the constituents of those candidates see these videos and boot the jerks out. I also think they should be arrested and put in the slammer, plus pay back all the money they received from FMFM, and definitely never be able to run for public office again.

Stuff like this makes me furious. They are supposed to be working for us, not themselves.

Maybe it's time to dig deeper into the whole government, and weed all these guys out, whether pubs or dems. Don't matter.

Surely you realize his campaign is low enough

does this make sense? Surely,
the CIA knows the truth or Scotland Yard?
Fairy tales? They surely won this one!
worry about paying my mortgage any more, all my bills gonna get paid* Hundreds of thousands voting with this dream in their minds, totally unaware of reality. Yes, fairy tales can win elections, we just proved it!
Shirley, I most surely agree!!!!
Whack jobs abound!!! Whacking in airport bathrooms, whacking congressional pages, whacking male prostitutes - whack, whack, whack!!!!  Whip It!! Whip it good!!
Surely you jest....it appears you are speaking for yourself

college and everything......yepper, by golly

oh, but come on she is so pretty, and she is a woman, surely we can overlook
these things :)
A respectful campaign? Surely you jest. n/m

Hillary looking to Obama for guidance? Surely you jest. n/m
x
Well surely Obama doesn't fund all sources
a name please of a source you would consider credible.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not sure if Bill Clinton signed this into law, but it surely came to be

under his watch.

Unlike the "Bush supporters" of this day and time, I can and will admit when a president I admired (Bill Clinton) has done something I disagree with.

get a life
You post once again shows you are a vile and nasty person who surmises too much about people on chat boards.  You know nothing about me and you attribute too much to me.  I have no control of liberal posters.  I enjoy reading their posts and respond when I want to.  My advice to you is get a life and stop taking postings on a tiny bulletin board so seriously.  You are sounding irrational.
Life?
Well, as a practicing Jew, I believe life begins at the first breath, but I know everyone does not agree with me.
Life...
How can something that moves, has a heartbeat and brain waves not be alive? Please to explain that to me.
Life...
I never said I did not give a hoot about what you believe and I am somewhat taken aback that you accuse me when you do not even know me. I do not agree with you, no; but you are entitled to believe as you wish, and just hope that you afford me the same courtesy. So, you are saying that you are on board with abortion? It is okay because the child is not alive according to your religion...that the child has no soul until it takes its first breath? So basically taking away its chance to take that first breath by invasive surgery is not murder, because you believe the child has no soul until it breathes? I am not finding fault, I am trying to understand a different view.
life
I am not on board with abortion. Since I believe (and many Jews do too, but not all) that life begins with breath, I believe it is up to each woman to make the decision that is right for her. It is not my place to judge or condemn her choice. My family has 2 children what were very much wanted and are very much loved. I feel fortunate that I never was in a position to have to make a choice regarding my pregnancies. But, just because I didn't chose to terminate a pregnancy (for whatever reason), I certainly don't want to take that choice away from another.

Basically, (and I am not referring to you personally here) if you don't believe in abortion, don't have one, but don't push your beliefs on me or anyone else.
Nat'l Right To Life, etc.
Check some of these places if you still don't want to believe me. Plenty are out there. One search for the above (nrl.org) brought up plenty.
I'm Pro-life sm

My point is that all our tax dollars have no business being spent on bad behavior and things such as this.  The mainstream media has "mainstreamed" this issue, in an attempt to minimize the subject matter a

Many people who refuse to watch FNC because they're supposedly nutty right-wingers aren't getting both sides to the story.  For instance, if you go to Foxnews.com and pull up Hannity & Colmes, you'll see that the show is half liberal and half conservative.  You won't find that on the others.  And while you're at that site, the info regarding what Rick Warren had to say about the debate at Saddleback, and how Obama actually heard more ahead of time than McCain.  Actually, it was no debate, as Obama still refuses to have a face-to-face with McCain.  I guess that's presidential?

I personally prefer to know when I get my news that I get both sides of it, and the people on the network aren't afraid to put their political views out there.

It sounds like we both agree on this, so I was surprised that you asked.  Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough or something.

her life is obviously out of

control.  A real woman attends to her responsibilities at home. Her Downs baby needs her to BE THERE and interact with her.  It is not enough just to bring her into the world, she must care for her.  A pregnant teenager needs her mother there to guide her through this unfortunate time in her life. Teenage pregnancy is devastating to the development of a young woman who should be preparing for her own adulthood not attending the needs of an infant.  Infants of teenage mothers suffer also.  Instead Mrs. Palin will be on the road campaigning for 2 months and then in the WH adjusting to her new job after that. Those sure aren't part-time activities.  I don't approve of a part-time mother OR a part-time VP especially with such an elderly pres.  Obama and Biden are vital individuals who have loving, stable home lives and will not be distracted from their duties.

Get a life
Duped how exactly??? They still have the ranch and are keeping the ranch. Big figgin deal.
Nothing in life is sure but............ sm
death and taxes, and Mr. Barnett very eloquently proved the latter.

A Day in the Life of a Republican

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JOE REPUBLICAN Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised.

All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because *some liberal* union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packingindustry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home or go hungry because of his temporary misfortune.

It's noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and hisbelow-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuckhis nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day.

Joe agrees: We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.

I am against anything that destroys life.
That's my stand.
