Regardless of the news station...(sm)
the memo reads the same.
Since you cannot drink a news station -nm
x
It all depends on what news station you listen to
I talked to my best friend the other day (whom I met when I was in the Army). Her husband is in Iraq. Her son is in Afghanastan, and her daughter is in Iraq. None of them like war (who does) but the consensus among them and their fellow soldiers is that it is worth it. Do they want the war to end, heck yeah. Do they want to come home, heck yeah. Do they want to give up everything they've been fighting for. NO WAY! They say if they leave now everything they have done to help the people of Iraq will all have been for nothing. They want to stay until the job is finished and not any sooner. They say if we don't do this it will be left up to our children, our nieces and nephews to take care of when they get older.

It all depends on who you listen to for news. Of course MSNBC, CNN and other liberal news agencies say its a mistake we should not be there, need to come home now. But my freinds said her husband and two kids and all their fellow soldiers say stay until the job is done. For every soldier on video saying we shouldn't be here, etc, etc., there is another soldier like the one in the OPs link that say, don't tell us its not worth it.
Fact Based or Faith Based Policies...sm
Click watch video in the link.

Most impressive statement is how the Bush administration has gotten away from fact based policy making.
Another day at the circus with sal and friends....got popcorn?

Guess that will be decided in the media circus
These links are not just guilt by association pieces like Rev Wright. They are containing words straight out of her mouth. Libs approach to research a little different than Christian Right.
Criminal behavior..

Down below somebody cites lack of opportunity as a reason for blacks in American having a high incarceration rate...  Well, yes, that's one piece of the pie.  I say that ALL of the reason can be traced to the rampant fatherlessness in the black community, where 69% of all black children in this country are born to a single mother.  Everything else from A to Z can be derived from the broken family syndrome.  But of course this has nothing to do with race other than than the statistic above.  Whites and Hispanice from the same social situation suffer the same fate described below.

WHAT HAPPENS TO CHILDREN DEPRIVED OF THEIR NATURAL FATHERS

Compared to children in male-headed traditional families where their
natural parents are married to each other, children living in
female-headed single-parent, lesbian or other environments where they are
deprived of their natural fathers are:

    1. Eight times more likely to go to prison.
    2. Five times more likely to commit suicide.
    3. Twenty times more likely to have behavioral problems.
    4. Twenty times more likely to become rapists.
    5. 32 times more likely to run away.
    6. Ten times more likely to abuse chemical substances.
    7. Nine times more likely to drop out of high school.
    8. 33 times more likely to be seriously abused.
    9. 73 times more likely to be fatally abused.
    10. One-tenth as likely to get A's in school.
    11. On average have a 44% higher mortality rate.
    12. On average have a 72% lower standard of living.

Fathers' Absence

  • 85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes.

  • 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes.

  • 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes.

  • 75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers come from fatherless homes.

  • 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes.

  • 80% of rapists motivated with displaced anger come from fatherless homes.

  • 70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes.

  • 85% of all youths sitting in prisons grew up in a fatherless home.

  • California has the nation's highest juvenile incarceration rate and the nation's highest juvenile unemployment rate.

  • Juveniles have become the driving force behind the national increase in violent crime; the epidemic of youth violence and gangs is related to the breakdown of the two-parent family.

  • 71% of teenage pregnancies are to children of single parents. Daughters of single parents are 2.1 times more likely to have children during their teenage years than are daughters from intact families. Daughters of single parents are 53% more likely to marry as teenagers, 164% more likely to have a premarital birth, and 92% more likely to dissolve their own marriages. All these intergenerational consequences of single motherhood increase the likelihood of chronic welfare dependency.

  • In 1983, a study found that 60% of perpetrators of child abuse were women with sole custody. Shared parenting can significantly reduce the stress associated with sole custody, and reduce the isolation of children in abusive situations by allowing both parents' to monitor the children's health and welfare and to protect them.

  • 18 million children live in single-parent homes. Nearly 75% of American children living in single-parent families will experience poverty before they turn 11. Only 20% in two-parent families will experience poverty.

  • The feminization of poverty is linked to the feminization of custody, as well as linked to lower earnings for women. Greater opportunity for education and jobs through shared parenting can help break the cycle.

  • Kidnapping: family abductions were 163,200 compared to non-family abductions of 200 to 300, attributed to the parents' disenchantment with the legal system.
Reestablishing fatherhood is not just a minor issue to the Signatories to the Fathers' Manifesto. It is the only way to rid this world of its current social pathology, and they know it. Any and every plan for doing this must be presented and carefully scrutinized, regardless of its political correctness. There is too much at stake to ignore any possible solution.

The Constitutional right to freedom of religion clearly requires the preservation of families -- and this requires strong fatherhood.

You need to examine your behavior.

From the Conservative board.

The toxicity has become so potent that some of the cooler heads on the Left are starting to notice. Richard Cohen, writing in his Washington Post column  today, describes his email, traffic after a mildly critical reference to Stephen Colbert’s unfunny performance at the White House Correspondents Dinner:

It seemed that most of my correspondents had been egged on to write me by various blogs. In response, they smartly assembled into a digital lynch mob and went roaring after me. If I did not like Colbert, I must like Bush. If I write for The Post, I must be a mainstream media warmonger. If I was over a certain age—which I am—I am simply out of it, wherever “it” may be. All in all, I was—I am, and I guess I remain—the worthy object of ignorant, false and downright idiotic vituperation. [….]

But the message in this case truly is the medium. The e-mails pulse in my queue, emanating raw hatred. This spells trouble—not for Bush or, in 2008, the next GOP presidential candidate, but for Democrats. The anger festering on the Democratic left will be taken out on the Democratic middle. (Watch out, Hillary!) I have seen this anger before—back in the Vietnam War era. That’s when the antiwar wing of the Democratic Party helped elect Richard Nixon. In this way, they managed to prolong the very war they so hated.

The hatred is back. I know it’s only words now appearing on my computer screen, but the words are so angry, so roiled with rage, that they are the functional equivalent of rocks once so furiously hurled during antiwar demonstrations.

According to what? I'm listening to every station
One station says Palin won 86% to Biden 12% and 2% undecided.

Another station said Palin won 72% to Biden 26% and undecided 2%.

The only ones who said Biden won was hard-core Obama supporters, but they had no reference to say what poll they were talking about.

So according to the polls I'm reading on all the sites and stations (except MSNBC of course and I'm not seeing any official polls except for their opinions) state that Palin was the clear winner.
Just what was his nasty behavior?
I'm curious...........
It figures - a liberal station

Does the behavior on this board not kinda...
support that?
What amazes me is you are proud of this behavior.
Which is another huge reason not to put one of you in the white house.
MSNBC will be the only station they will allow to ask questions...

they must be talking to Hugo Chavez about how to handle the press.

Infantile? High school behavior?

So it's only okay when you do it?

O and Biden again today banning another TV station because...
they didn't like the questions Biden was asked. What wimps. Smells of their friend Hugo who loves state-run media (a socialist country, of course).
Sadly, common sense and good behavior...........sm
are seldom rewarded but highly expected and those who practice sound financial habits are often not given the breaks that those who do not are given. It just seems harsh to say "screw them" when one may not know the circumstances and when there may be children involved who would be homeless through no fault of their own. Guess I'm just a little tender-hearted about that.
She didn't know about Rock Hudson's nasty behavior.
None of us did until he died from AIDS. And calling people names, even though wrong, is a far cry from being beat up. We have to teach our kids to be kind but not to accept certain behavior as good and that's not what you want. Am I right?

Are you also the type who...
believes he didn't do enough to prevent 911?  Because it seems people want it both ways.. Protect me and don't let anything happen to us, but for crying out loud don't DO anything that might be unpopular or make somebody mad.  You can't appreciate the difficult position?  If a suitcase nuke showed up here and was traced back to Saddam you'd be saying look, there was all that evidence and intelligence from countries all over the world and Bush ignored it and didn't depose Saddam.  He really can't win.  So he was bold and made a move.  More than some presidents would do, lest they find themselves down in the polls (which at times seems more important to some people than doing the right thing).  Maybe if Clinton had been a little more proactive during the 90s, while Al-Qaeda was growing and continually ratcheting up their attacks, 9/11 could have been averted.  Who knows.
I would like to have had the same type...
questions asked of Bill Clinton when he ran for Pres the first time having been only the governor, one week after he started. He would have done no better, and he was running for the #1 spot.

She was good. She didn't fall into any of the traps he tried to lay for her...including the 3 times he asked her about hypothetical about Israel bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. He tried his best to trap her. She didn't bite. I just wish we could have a nonpartisan person interview McCain, Palin, Obama, and Biden, just ask a simple question not meant to trap and let the person answer it...and not badger them when they don't like the answer trying to get the answer the interviewer wants. Sigh.
But can she type?
I'm talking about the above poster's comment about Palin being "smart and good-looking." No one is contesting her intelligence (her readiness for the office of VP, maybe, but not her overall intelligence), & I'm pointing to the fact that being "good-looking" is a criterion that's only being applied to the woman candidate.
Do you really believe this type of
Inspired and enlightening as your beliefs are, I do not believe everyone on the planet in the last 2000 years has had the opportunity to accept or reject Christianity.  Personally, I just could never believe in a god who condemns his children for eternity due to an accident of birth... nor can I imagine (without a shudder) spending eternity singing hosannas next to the likes of you.  Did anybody get into heaven before the crucifixion?
You mean like "sometimes I think" - type

Again, I am so afraid I can't type
I meant vote against Obama. You people have got to stop scaring me with these stories of Muslims taking over the world. How will I ever sleep at night?
How is it a stereo type?
It's true. When my husband worked for Mediacom Cable the people in the government housing would have the cable in their son's or daughter's names (some of them were 5 years old). Others buy cars either with cash from under the table or through a relative or friend so it is not listed as income or assets. There is no stereo type in that. White people, black people, hispanic people, they all do it.

I walked into the home of a child that I teach at youth group last week to bring some food. His mother doesn't work, no idea where his father is, but there is a huge flat screen tv in their single wide trailer! Talk about mixed up priorities. Can't wash clothes because the washer doesn't work, but we sure as heck can watch ESPN!

That's the problem with welfare. There are so many people on it we can't possibly keep enough caseworkers to check up on them! Instead of starting new programs on top of this one, why not create some jobs by hiring more caseworkers and investigating why these people are on welfare for 5, 10, even 15 years? What is keeping them from working? Is it legitimate, or is it like the white guy that used to live next door to me "I got a messed up ankle" yet he's out in the road playing street football. See, no stereotype, there are deadbeats everywhere, of all colors, shapes, and sizes! :)

This is exactly the type of comments we don't need.
Discuss issues but don't post snide remarks. Simple as that. Worship has no place on this board.
And the more I see of this type of intolerance..
the more I fear for our civil rights. People have sex. There is war, murder, rape, mutilation, etc., all over this world and it has been this way for eons. Take your religiosity to a deserted planet and you can squeeze your Bible all you want. It is MY right not to live under your rules or beliefs.
I wish I could type 1000 wpm.

I would have stated who and what they are debating. Kerry was furious. Sen. Sessions (R-AL) doesn't seem to want to work with anyone on "the other side" either.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nevada) had a really good speech. He went through the whys and why nots of how this whole mess started. He is willing to work with the other side but he stated that the other side has to work with them, too, which so far, is not happening. He stated that the stimulus package was pushed through the house without any debate, without anyone seeing exactly what was in it, and it was the wrong thing to do. He doesn't care that O wants this passed by President's day. It has to be worked out slowly so they don't make the same kind of mistakes that they did with the last stimulus package.

It's not just tax cuts the pubs want. They want some of the spending in there, too, just not the most ridiculous items. They want the infrastructure in but not just 3% of the total package spread out over 4 years. It wouldn't make much of a difference.

Now, on another subject, I had MSNBC on another TV. Surprisingly, they were only allowing sound for the debate when the democrats are speaking.  Hmmm.

they will just say he can do other type of work -
My BF cannot do anything he knows how to do because it is all physical work and he has so many limitations imposed on him by the doctor; however, social security said that there were jobs he was capable of doing and will not give him benefits.

Your wishful thinking?  I find it hard to believe you're a moderate conservative.   2008 is still a long way off.  The liberals better find an agenda other than hating Bush before they'll have any chance in hades of electing more of them to congress much less to the White House.

You really ought to peel your mind away from Fox News and the rest of those jokers some time. Communist China running my local TV station? Geez Louise, you're the one who needs to get a clue.
Oh Lord I may be laughing too hard to type.

North, get a grip woman!   Are you and A. Nonymous some kind of comedy team?  You’re feeding the straight lines to AN and she (he?) is getting the laughs?  Wow are your buttons easy to push.  I sure hope AN (the drunken cheap scotch/irish nazi) does not stop posting, because this is just too much fun to watch

Yeah we get it.  You’re black,  educated and you speak English well.  You write well so you probably speak OK too.  But you just don’t read so great.  Where in any of these posts did AN say you personally were uneducated or did not have a work ethic?  Where is the part about you not speaking English?  Did you see the word ebonics and just stop reading?  If you care so much about all people why are you not standing up for the other two groups mentioned - do you have something against hispanics and hillbillies?

You have to be very worn out from carrying around that big chip on your shoulder.  Why don’t you put it down and stop taking offense at remarks that were obviously not aimed your way?   The topic was career mooches and freeloaders.  You seem to be an MT and have a job or be on the site looking for one.  Nobody called you anything - why so defensive?

I type for a local mental hospital
and I go in and get the tapes and bring them home.  They don't use a big company for their transcription.  I do this as a side job actually.  The pay is much better than a big MT company as well.  I enjoy typing those type of reports as well.

It is based on income . . .
not on grades. You have to keep your grades up to keep receiving it, BUT the primary requirement to receive it is low income. So do you thing those who have done well for themselves should be required to give money to those who are below them if they are trying to do better? Because that is what is sounds like. As long as it is benefiting you, it is okay because you are trying to do better?

No matter how you slice it, you are still taking from those who have and giving it to havenots. Just stay consistent with your argument. Who is to say who HONESTLY deserves aid?
