to sit back and wait for Bush to do something? That's a joke. All Bush is doing until Jan 20 is backdoor deals, re-writing his presidency, trying to pardon criminals (including himself), and dodging shoes. Actually, he's quite lucky when it comes to the shoe incident. Every other American over there is worried about dodging bullets -- because of him.

It is that simple. The republicans were not fiscally responsible when they held the pursestrings.
When alternative fuels are
When alternative fuels are more economically plausible the market will open for them. Right now oil is a cheap, effecient, and abundant fuel even if it doesn't burn clean. Solar panels are actually a very toxic manufacturing buisness along with remaking recycled products. In my opinion the enviromental movement started with Malthus, a philosopher who even influenced Darwin. He proposed that the earth was populating so fast that there would be a shortage of food and a famine would occur on the earth. At that time the majority of the United States was involved in agriculture and there was alot of hungry mouths due to low productivity. After industrialization less than 5% (don't know the exact statistics) of the country are involved in agriculture and we are one of the top exporters for food in the world and we can provide for our own country. So if we limit progress by forcing a change to alternative fuels we will just end up slowing down the quest for a better and cleaner burning fuel. Sorry that was poorly put because I didn't do any research during the time I wrote it.

You know, I'm all for alternative energy sources....sm
But there are unintended consequences to everything.
The windfarms that they have as an experiment here in eastern Montana, have killed hundreds of birds and over a thousand bats.
This is not good. It reminds me of all the honeybees that are disappearing around the world. I lean towards the cell phone tower theory on the bees, that somehow it is disorienting them, and killing them, before they can return to their hives....maybe even contributing to the fungus that some scientists say have killed the bees.
This year, we didn't think our bats were going to show up, and we wondered where they were. We usually have one or two that show up in June, and take up residence under our eaves, and behind our thermostat on the deck. We see them fly at sunset, and they eat upwards of 1200 insects an hour.....if the bats disappear, the insects will remain, and who knows what the unintended consequences may be....
Just food for thought.....
