Biden versus McCain health issues, sm

Posted By: G. Gnome on 2008-10-23

I think it is interesting that issues are made on Sen. McCain's health, but I have heard nothing about Sen. Biden's past health issues.  Approximately 20 years ago, Sen. Biden underwent surgery to repair two brain aneurysms.  I would consider that a pretty serious issue for the #2 man in charge of our country.

There have been reports in the news about Sen. Biden getting some history mixed up, and misspeaking at times.  Could this not so much be something to joke about as it could be the long-term effect of his prior condition.

Just something that has been on my mind.');>

Mental Health issues

When we finally have universal health care, maybe those suffering from 911 Tourette's and Clinton sex life Tourette's will seek treatment? Wishful thinking or not? I am soliciting opinons.

JOhn McCain on the issues...
http://www.johnmccain.com//Informing/Issues/17671aa4-2fe8-4008-859f-0ef1468e96f4.htm
Joe Biden not much younger than McCain
Biden is only 7 years younger. Not a whole lot of difference. As for the impish grin? Take a look at Biden - he reminds me of Skeletor from Masters of the Universe. Once again another liberal not basing anything on facts, just personality issues. And if I was a pow beaten to near death every day for five years I don't think I'd be able to forget that too easily. I just had my 30 year HS reuinion and it seems like it was only a couple years ago that I was in high school. They say the body ages, but the mind always stays young. My grandmother at 82 years old said to me, how can I be in this body, seems like I was just in high school and getting married a few years ago and I remember everything vividly like it just happened. My grandfather at 92 years old could tell me everything about all the candidates even back when he was a young teenager. At least John McCain has a very sharp and clear mind, and a clear direction he wants to lead the country in, and a direction the country needs to go in. No more of the democrats getting HUGE payouts from the big company and turning around acting like they haven't received anything. Three of the top 3 people who benefited from FM/FM - #1 - Dodd, #2 Obama, #3 H. Clinton.

Biden just can't bring himself to bad mouth McCain
He knows he's already said his peace about Obama. He doesn't like the guy, doesn't think he is trusthworthy, and has questioned Obama's associations time and time again. That said enough for me. If his own VP doesn't care him, then something else is going on. Obama didn't choosen Biden because he thought he wanted him...

Makes one wonder what is really going on here.
Who cares what Palin, McCain, Obama, or Biden
all the cheating and lying going on in the O camp and 'ole Biden stabbing his running mate in the back isn't a good sign at all. But, no surprise there. Biden had said very early on he didn't care for Obama and that he would like to be McCain's running mate. Can't twist that one no matter how you try.

I'll always know Biden isn't so easily fooled by Obama either but just looking for a foot in the door of the White House to run in four years.

Health Insurance/Health Care sm

I figure either one of two things will happen. Either the US will go to a single payer system, i.e., national health care covering all through federal taxes and cost control by the government, or therre will be an implosion of the private system in x number of years with something different emerging from the ashes.

With the exhorbitant cost of health insurance, mandating coverage is not an answer. Anything can be mandated. The question is how does one pay for it?Massachusetts mandated individual coverage, and already has had to exclude 20% due to the cost of a policy, anywhere from $1,200 to $1,400 a month for family coverage.  Employers cannot afford to cover employees either due to the cost of health insurance.  The current system? Well, insurance companies can charge $3,000 a month for a health insurance policy, health care providers can charge $800,000 for a 3-day hospital stay, etc.  In the end no one, businesses or otherwise, will be able to keep "feeding the beast" and the current system will implode.

I think the proposal of being able to buy into Medicare is a noble one, but president Clinton pushed that years ago, and with much opposition and to no avail at that time.

I don't mean to sound so pessiimistic. Actually I'm not. There are 300 million people in this country, they have the ability to change anything, and hopefully they will take the initial steps to do that in November.

Issues people, issues. I need issues

I'm not seeing any discussion about issues.  Can we stick to the issues.  Jeeze - I want to hear good and bad about both candidates but with facts to back whatever is being said.

P-L-E-A-S-E.....I want issues.  How can I make any kind of determinatons about who I'm going to vote for if I don't hear about the issues.  Reading some of this I'm thinking I'd get more truth if I read the National Enquirer.

Joe Biden-Hunter Biden..so much for change

versus
The first sura of the Qur'an is an example of this. It is a short prayer that is repeated by devout Muslims each day and ends with these words:

Keep us on the right path. The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray. (1:6-7)

Muhammad was once asked if these words pertained to Jews and Christians. His response was, "Whom else?" (Bukhari 56:662).

mean versus Obama

Notice how many of the really mean posts, like the one who called Senator Obama, Osambo, are pro-McCain/Palin.  John McCain and Sarah Palin never focus on the issues.  Listen to them closely - what exactly are they going to do about unemployment, foreclosures, poverty, the meth epidemic across the nation, health care, taxes, and the war that has been going on far too long?  Can you answer these questions?  All John McCain does is talk about Obama.  John McCain is losing the election and running scared, so he attacks Obama.  Check out the facts.  Obama was 8 years old when Bill Ayers was a radical.  Ayers is in his 60s and a washed-up radical.  Have you even looked at a picture of this man?  It will make you laugh when you realize this is the guy McCain is associating Obama with in hopes that McCain can win the election.  It is one attack after another.  Senator Obama was raised in Kansas by his "white" grandmother.  Senator Obama has two young children whom he takes to soccer practice regularly.  McCain is making Obama sound like some kind of terrorist.  How many terrorists take their kids to soccer practice?  Do you think Senator Obama would jeporadize his children's lives by being a terrorist?  His kids look pretty well-adjusted to me.

I live in Arizona where McCain is our senator.  Arizona also has a huge meth epidemic, high percentage of poverty, horrible health care, and racism to say the least. Even Arizona's State Governor, Janet Napolitano, is endorsing Senator Obama.  She has had to work side-by-side with John McCain and she isn't even endorsing him.  Do you think the Governor of Arizona would endorse Senator Obama if he was the terrorist that the McCain/Palin ticket is trying to make him out to be.  Even a 1st grader could see that McCain is bitter because he is losing.

You have to be really gullible to believe anything the McCain/Palin ticket has to say.  Honestly ask yourself what you think John Mcain is going to do for this country in the next four years if he can't even help his own state of Arizona.

Upwards of $500,000 versus $10.....sm
It does make one wonder, doesn't it?

I wonder if the POTUS can be held in contempt of court?
wilson versus rove
Ms. Wilson is Valerie Plame, she is married to Joseph Wilson.  She worked for the CIA but Rove gave her name to Robert Novak, thus jeopardizing her life.
abortion versus rudolph
Science has not determined when life begins, at conception?  After the first trimester?  But the argument is moot, actually, as it is legal to get an abortion, it is not legal to take the law into your own hands and kill because you do not agree with the legal medical procedure that is being performed.  Enormous difference.  Law abiding citizens do not kill because they disagree with the law.
Facts versus opinion.
If you choose to ignore the facts, so be it.
unborn versus born
I do not think they would choose their life over a child that was already born, but I do think many would choose (and do choose) their own life over an unborn child's life. And by life I don't necessarily mean a medical condition. If my daughter were a teenager (she is not quite there yet) and she was pregnant, and she chose abortion, her father and I would certainly support that choice versus her giving up a promising future to raise an unwanted child, especially at such a young age.

I know others would not choose that, but many do everyday. Certainly, I think men and women should choose birth control, abstinence, etc., but birth control fails, mistakes happen, rape happens, incest happens, and I don't feel anyone should have to give birth if they don't want to or aren't prepared for the responsibility of parenting.

Many women chose to give their babies up for adoption, and that is a wonderful choice for them. However, not the best choice for everyone. I want everyone to be able to have that choice.
Attack versus observation

So if someone called me a big, fat, smelly, ugly, loud-mouthed, foul hag that could qualify as an observation (in your words) and would therefore be acceptable?  I mean, technically someone could say they OBSERVED these traits in me.  When does something cross the line and become a personal attack?

My take on all this is that if it originates from one of the C-posters it's an observation.  If it originates from an L-poster it's an attack.  Not always, but in general.  Could be due to the whole political board system have a very very far right-leaning slant........

experience versus wisdom

to change the downward course of the nation.  Haven't you been listening?

Senator versus presidency
Sure, I can see where a lot of this would be overlooked while running for a senate position versus president of our country. The higher the position, the more you look into someone's history and that is what separates the boys from the men....
Income tax versus sales tax......sm

Since sales tax was brought up below, let's take a little poll..........

Do you believe that a federal sales tax to replace the current income tax system would be a good move?  Do you think it would be more fair or less fair and why?

I'll post my opinion separate from this.

deflation versus inflation
Deflation is better no matter what they say.

There has never been a country who went into hyperinflation that did not have a collapse of the government. (bankruptcy or worse)

I will go with the pay cut and cheaper gas.
Stimulus versus tax cuts

Stimulus means SPENDING

Non-refundable tax rebates means every $1.00 spent creates $1.02 in economic activity. 2 freaking cents (makes sense to the pubs.....I guess)

Infrastructure - every dollar spent equals $1.59 in economic activity (bridges, roads, etc.)

Food stamps (which the pubs want to cut out of the bill) - every dollar spent equals $1.73 in economic activity. This is the single most productive stimulus we have. Food stamps will get SPENT, unlike tax rebates.

If the pubs have their way, the bill will be 42% tax cuts which will not benefit job creation or improve the economy. They want to fail. Why? And you all call your senators to support this? If it gets pushed through like this, you have only yourselves to blame when everything goes to helll. You can't blame Obama for this cluster.

Independent versus Liberal...sm
" In the political realm, an Independent is generally the term used to describe a candidate who is not affiliated with any political party. The word has evolved to some degree and can also be used to describe a candidate who is not a member of a country’s main political parties. In the United States, if one is not a Republican or a Democrat, one might be referred to as an Independent or a third party candidate

Liberalism in the United States is a broad political and philosophical mindset, favoring individual liberty, and opposing restrictions on liberty, whether they come from established religion, from government regulation or grom the existing class structure.

"First, liberalism holds that there is no way to authenticate and prove as true any one version of the Christian faith...Second, liberalism rejects the Bible as being the actual Word of God to man...Third, liberalism restates the doctrine of Christ to show his utter humanity...Fourth, liberalism denies that the Bible has any inherent moral authority over men...Fifth, liberalism denies that mankind is lost and under the condemnation of sin...Sixth, liberalism has no concern with the New Testament concept of the church."

According to this I qualify as a political Independent and a religious Liberal.

Chickenhawks versus true heros
Oh wow, this is a great post.  Makes the point and leaves no doubt about who the true heros are.
Chavez oil versus American fat cat oil companies

Article from Juan Gonzalez, a NY Daily News columnist, RE:  Hugo Chavez and his oil versus American oil companies:

Oil fat cats vs. Hugo Chavez

I pulled into the Mobil gas station on 11th Ave. in Manhattan yesterday for my weekly stickup from the oil companies.

Their take this time was an astonishing $3.05 per gallon for premium unleaded.

"Every three or four days the price goes up," said Patel, the man in charge of the station. "Lots of complaints from my customers."

Complaints from everyone except oil executives.

Last year, Exxon/Mobil, the world's largest corporation, posted the highest profits of any company in history - more than $25 billion. The oil giant, based in Irving, Tex., is on track to shatter that mark this year, with revenues that now approach $1 billion per day.

Which brings me to Pat Robertson and Hugo Chavez.

Robertson, the right-wing evangelist and friend of the Bush family, publicly called this week for the U.S. government to kill - or at least kidnap - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

"This is a dangerous enemy to our south, controlling a huge pool of oil, that could hurt us badly," Robertson said. His less-than-Christian remarks ignited an outcry and forced him to issue an apology of sorts, though he still insisted that he had at least "focused our government's attention on a growing problem."

That "problem," quite simply, is that Chavez, a radical populist who has been voted into office repeatedly by huge majorities in his own country, controls the largest reserve of petroleum outside the Middle East.

Neither Robertson, nor former oil executives George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice, nor their buddies at Exxon/Mobil, Chevron, etc., are happy about all this.

Even more scandalous for Big Oil, Chavez is using Venezuela's windfall not to fatten his own country's oligarchy but to benefit the Venezuelan poor and help neighboring countries.

Yesterday, while Robertson was issuing his half-baked Chavez clarification, the Venezuelan president was in Montego Bay, Jamaica, where he announced a new oil agreement with that country's prime minister, P.J. Patterson.

Under the agreement, Venezuela will supply 22,000 barrels of oil a day to Jamaica for a mere $40 a barrel. That's far lower than the current world price of about $65 a barrel. With the price of gasoline in that destitute nation already more than $3.50 a gallon, the Chavez plan means more than half a million dollars a day in savings for Jamaica on oil imports.

Chavez also announced his government will provide $60 million in foreign aid to Jamaica and finance the upgrading of that country's oil refineries.

The agreement is part of a broader Chavez plan called Petrocaribe, which he unveiled at a Caribbean summit in Venezuela last June.

At that conference, Chavez offered the same kind of deal to the leaders of more than a dozen other neighboring nations, including Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez and Cuba's Fidel Castro.

Fernandez jumped at the offer because his government is nearly bankrupt from oil prices. Last year, the Dominican Republic spent $1.2 billion on oil imports; this year, it expects to fork out more than $3 billion. The price of gasoline in Santo Domingo has zoomed past $4 a gallon in recent days.

Pat Robertson looks at Chavez and sees a devilish danger. He wants our government to "take him out." Over at the White House, Bush and his aides may use more restrained language, but their goals are not much different.

But there's a whole different view down in Latin America, where a half-dozen nations have seen liberal and populist governments swept into office in recent years.

Down there, Chavez has become the new miracle man of oil. Unlike Exxon/Mobil and the Big Oil fat cats, who wallow in their record profits while the rest of us pay, Chavez is spreading the wealth around.

A dangerous man, indeed.

Roe versus Wade majority and problems with the law
Actually, I've read where if put to a vote polls have shown that Roe versus Wade would be overturned. Whether abortion is right or wrong aside many people, including many liberal lawyers say that RVW is a badly written law in the first place.
primary opponent versus people

from own party who make their living promoting the repub cause.  Big difference in motivation.

Semantics versus common sense...
As I mentioned previously, the phrase I mentioned was "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness," which is in the Declaration of Independence, not the Constititution. I never mentioned citizens at all, and neither did that phrase.

What I did say is that the law of this land - and any country I am aware of - protects human life, and I'm pretty sure there is little argument that a pregnant woman is always pregnant with a human life...not a gopher, a lampshade, or a pickle. There has never been a human pregnancy that produced anything other than a human being. We (human beings) have laws to protect other human beings. I just don't understand why some people don't think unborn human beings should be included in that protection. Hiding behind religious differences, constitutional "technicalities," and "live and let live" rhetoric doesn't negate the fact that human beings give birth to human beings, and if you kill that human being - any human being, either in the womb or out, it is wrong, ethically, morally, by all human standards and all human laws in all countries of which I am aware.

I know - it was like watching the dead versus the animated

Companies that offshore---Hillary versus Barack
I wanted to make you all aware during this election that Hillary Clinton is co-chair of the Friends of India Caucus---not good!

Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in America relative to those outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military.

PLEASE, everybody, see that Barack Obama is for keeping jobs in America and has shown this by passing this tax credit to encourage jobs in America.  This is something he has already done, so we know he will help us fight this in the future.  PLEASE DO NOT VOTE FOR HILLARY, who supports our jobs being outsourced.

I have stood behind Barack Obama and have sent emails questioning what he plans to do to help MTs in America.  Just do the research and spread the word, PLEASE, not to vote for Hillary and to maintain support with Barack, who has shown he is BEHIND US!!

I believe that one of the ways we can ALL show support is to refuse to accept a position with a company that outsources offshore.  I used to work for Spheris and did so for five years, but the company I work for now does not offshore and I will continue on in this direction.  LET'S HELP OUR AMERICAN-BASED MT COMPANIES, AS SMALL AS THEY MAY BE, PROSPER!!  Apply for a job with a company that does not offshore!  We have to start somewhere!

I promise to never work for a company that offshores...will you?  I promise to help keep Hillary Clinton out of the White House...will you?

If this nation is to survive, it is no longer US VERSUS THEM, we have to find a way to .....sm
stand united, and when our representatives are proposing or propositioning or supporing something that is NOT supported by the PEOPLE, their constituents, then we have to make calls, write letters, fax, vote, ect. I believe this two party system is doomed and that it is antiquated, there is such an ideological wall between the two parties that nothing will get done with all the finger pointing, blaming, etc. The American people are wise enough to know what is good for them, what works for them (and I mean a majority of us, not "chosen few" of Wall Street, lobbyists, oil interests, etc)., the representatives have to come back to the people. So sick of the blame game and insults, if we love this country and "the American way of life" we had all better band together, work together, LISTEN to each other's fears and needs, and concentrate on now and THE FUTURE, the long-haul. Just my humble opinion, this is all getting old and tired, and such a waste of time and energy. Instead of insulting on this board, perhaps we can spend time getting in touch with our representatives' offices, and perhaps getting a broader base of support for the Independent Party (isn't independce what we are all about?) IMHO
Go Obama/Biden! I don't like it and will VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!

Obama has shown great judgment in the people who surround him.  He picked a great VP choice, and his wife is impeccable as a helpmate and is a fantastic role model for the American children.

health plan
I have an idea, why doesnt Bush stop waging immoral wars and use our tax dollars for something constructive and life saving, like health coverage for those who die each year without it?  You know why I would love a universal health plan?  Because I care about my brother and sister and I care about making every Americans life better.  Of course, you conservatives care about no one but yourselves.  You make a few bucks, buy a home in a gated community, take the other streets so you dont pass the ghetto..and yet you claim you are christian..that is the most hypocritical statement of all.  Do you not realize if Jesus walked this earth today, he would be a liberal democrat, helping the poor, the starving, the sick, the homeless, accepting all.  Im so glad Im a liberal democrat.  I dont think I could look at myself in the mirror or get a good nights sleep knowing my ideology is actually harming America, not helping it one bit.
Health insurance
I'm not sure about that specific point, but in her plan if you don't purchase medical insurance your wages will be garnished. How's that for communism?
Health care
Nope, he didn't say anything as extreme as HRC about health care, but if he's going to enact any type of government funded health care, how is he going to pay for it? Not to mention all the other changes he has in mind. You think the economy is bad now, you haven't seen anything yet. I believe in helping out when people need the help, but there are already too many entitlement programs that people have been on for generations and now there should be another? So that now I not only have to pay for my own (which I do, by the way) but I have to pay for others as well? Does that really seem fair to you? And no, I don't like the war, but realistically, what else can we do at this point? We can't pull out because then things would be worse than they were. I think too many people forget what happened to our country in 2001 (and the many episodes before that) - you don't hear anyone from WWII forgetting about Pearl Harbor. McCain is going to change a lot - don't be fooled into thinking he's just continuing Bush's presidency - it's not even close. Regardless of who wins, I certainly don't envy them the huge responsibilities they're going to face. I do hope that whoever wins doesn't screw it up! Not sure this country can take much more of that.
Not only that, she is a HEALTH reporter and

you could tell that Joe Biden really did think she was joking because the question was so ridiculous, about Obama being a Marxist.  No wonder these things get so inflated by the right-wing media.  Ridiculous questions don't deserve to be acknowledged.  What a waste of time. Someone needs to ask SP why her own home newspaper in Anchorage is supporting Obama, because she is considered too risky to be in a position a heartbeat away from the Oval Office, and the McCain campaign aides have referred to her a rogue diva.  Ouch, that must have hurt!  Now there are some FACTS for you!!

If they really cared about our health
I agree with most - when all the smokers quit, who's next?  Tax all the bars and strip clubs out of existance?  Then the fast food joints?  And then what - up the gas tax so we'll all feel so good about being green when we walk to work?  When all else fails, there's always the churches to tax - there's a lost source of revenue for ya!
With health insurance, though

we are all driving basically the same model and we are insuring it for what could possibly happen, not what will or actually does.

Way back in the 1960s when I first started working, my company's health insurance did not cover single women for most 'female' issues, especially birth control and/or pregnancy-related issues, which has since been deemed discriminatory.  Now you must cover everyone equally for every contingency.

The only way to individually ajust coverage costs would to be to exclude coverage based on genetic testing and/or family history, or maybe lifestyle issues such as alcohol or tobacco use or risky behavior like sky diving, which consumers have been fighting for years.  This would probably also be deemed discriminatory.

Issues

Certainly I agree the issues you mention must, must, MUST have our attention.  However, what we are doing this year is chosing a leader.  In my most humble opinion it is of the utmost importance to know what kind of person we are chosing to lead us.  We absolutely must look beyond what the politicians say; we must study their character and with whom they associate.  As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together.

As a life long Democrat, I am totally against Obama.  There are a number of reasons, not the least of which is his choice of pastors.  I believe his chosen church is a radical, devisive, racist group.  If Pastor What's His name isn't enough; what about the priest who delivered the sermon ridiculing Hillary in that same church?  By no means am I a supporter of Hillary Clinton but that show was disgusting.  Neither can I support John McCain.  I have changed my registration from Democrat to Independent because neither mainstream political party represents my values.  My voice will be heard in the election but I will do a write-in for Lou Dobbs.  Would he make a good or great leader?  I don't know.  He talks the talk but would he walk the walk?  The only thing any of us can do is to vote and vote our convictions......and pray.

you have issues
x
Whether or not I have issues....
doesn't change the fact that they both did the same thing and one is being banned from speaking while the other is allowed to speak.  Sounds like one of them smelly ole double standards to me.
Why? What does this have to do with issues
I read the first two paragraphs and then that was it. Do I need to keep reading? Is there something in the rest of this post that will tell me how Barack has voted in the past or how McCain has voted in the past? Will this post tell me how they will fix the health care system, win the war and bring the troops home, fix the housing economy and the newest FM/FM crisis? And all the other matters that affect my life every single day.

Your going on and on and on about a number and what kind of cars someone has. We all know that Cindy McCain is very wealthy and if she wants to own 50 or 100 cars I don't care. I also don't care how many pairs of shoes or purses she owns. If you are trying to say she is not a frugal person I'm sure we could pull up other issues like how the Obama's send their daughter to a $10,000 camp. We can talk about Todd & Sarah Palin eloping to save the cost of a wedding for her parents (now that's what I call smart money thinking). But to go on and on about what kind of cars and how many Cindy McCain owns, and personally I don't think very many people care what they buy their daughter or if her daughter bought the car herself. That is unless your a liberal making a lame attempt at trying to prove something, but I don't think many people care about their daughters car or what Cindy has. She's wealthy, her dad worked hard to give his family what they have, and Cindy has a degree in education has worked hard her whole life as a nurse and teacher among other things. If she wants to have more than a couple cars who cares.
You hit on some key issues........... sm
SS age eligibility has already been raised. I cannot draw full benefits until I am 67 years and some few months of age. I have to wonder if this will be raised further still. Will I still be clacking at the keyboard at 70 or even 80 years old? Granted, folks are living to an older age in general, but look at the medical condition of a lot of Baby Boomers. I see more 40-year-olds and 50-year-olds with serious health problems such as coronary artery disease and cancer which I attribute to unhealthy lifestyles as well as the mystery meat we buy at the supermarket. Who knows what that chicken was injected with to achieve such full and meaty breasts? All of which leads me to your next point......

Healthcare for those of Medicare age will very likely be rationed as you illustrated. Need a hip replacement? Sorry! Buy a wheelchair. Need a bypass? Forgedaboudit! Of course, this could possibly help with the SS issue as a younger and younger age group that needs lifesaving surgery dies off, leaving SS benefits for the survivors. Sounds like some kind of twisted reality show but I can see it happening. Sure makes my Golden Years something to look forward to............ NOT!

I think that there would be a lot of issues...sm
around the world that Jesus would be interested in, not just gay marriage and abortion, and he would not exclude the good intentions of someone trying to bring the world together in peace.
I'm all for the issues....BUT
when I see a handful of racist on this board who I know full well voted for Obama just because he is a black man, it bears pointing out the facts they just aren't aware of. And that is very obvious. They scream republicans and racists in the same rant, but never stop to think all their name calling just points out the facts that they ARE racists..... but what they don't know is Martin Luther King was a REPUBLICAN (which I guarantee you they don't know...their elders have failed to tell them this or didn't know it themselves) and when enlightened, they shut their traps tight! This is what they do when they really have nothing intelligent to add to conversation and I have realized know absoutely NOTHING about the issues at hand as well.

Notice how quickly the ranting stopped when a HUGE fact was pointed out to them.

So, to be perfectly honest, those would not be the people to discuss issues with, because they really cannot get past color and ANYTHING said against Obama becomes a race thing....

sick to death of that!
Clinton health care
President Clinton and the First Lady tried to get a universal health care plan passed but the republicans fought them all the way and it was dead in the water.  That was the first thing they focused on when starting his presidency.  Senator Ted Kennedy also has tried to get a health care plan passed but the republicans once again stopped him.  You see, with a health care plan drug companies, for profit hospitals, clinics, insurance companies wont become multi millionaires over the sickness and death of americans and republicans just cant let that happen, since it is just these types of companies that hire lobbyists who have the republican congress in their pockets.  Yes, it is Bushs fault.  He is the president, he has the power to sway the republican controlled congress.  Instead of focusing on tort reform, bankruptcy law changes, which will affect middle class workers, does nothing to stop the trumps and other big businesses from filing for bankruptcy, privatizing social security, nonbid contracts to cheneys old company, he needs to focus on what affects the american worker, the ones who pay the majority of the taxes.  Yes, healthcare is certainly one of the priorities for americans.  In every poll I have seen it rates right up there with iraq and jobs and gas prices. Bush is going to give iraq free health care..what are his priorities, definitely not for the workers of america.
Someone has to pay for universal health care....
she knows that. Her plan will cost billions. The only way to pay for it is to force those who can afford it to buy it (as many choose not to so they can use that money for other things...and I don't mean eating...she knows that too). That is the one thing people who want socialized medicine, government-run health care don't realize. It is not FREE. If they don't get you in premiums they will get you in taxes...because who supplies the government with the money it spends...why that would be us, the taxpayers. What a concept. I don't know why Hillary saying she would not be opposed to garnishment should surprise anyone. That way when she hits us with higher taxes, they won't have to be quite as high. And don't think the "rich" can pick up the tab...they already pay way over 50% of the total tax money into the tills as it is, and there isn't enough money to go around. And while we are at it...show me a place in the Constitution where it says the government should provide health care, welfare, or anything like that? You won't find it. The founders were about less government, not more government. I don't understand why people would want to let themselves become tied to the government for their every need. Where does that place all the control? With the government, not with the people. Hello socialism, good-bye freedom. SIGH.
MANDATORY HEALTH INSURANCE
You said it so well! It will bring everyone down too. What about more sliding scale clinics? We have one where I live and the care is quite good. They have patients from all income levels. Maybe we should give more tax breaks to those sliding scale clinics and encourage people with good insurance and lots of money to attend those clinics more often in order that others with less can afford decent care. I wish the Clintons would quit trying to force their health care ideas down our throats. Maybe they want us all to be socialists? By the way in case you have not guessed by now I am a Lifelong Republican, soon to be a right wing independent unless Fred or Duncan Hunter win. No one should be "forced" to get health insurance, especially one of the "crap" varieties that you mention in your post.
Health care reform

What do I think about H. Clinton's mandatory health insurance proposal?

Here's my situation....I'm in my mid 50's, have a few pre-existing conditions, and am an IC doing medical transcription for years. I have health insurance which will cover the pre-existing conditions, however I rarely use the policy and have not been in a hospital for over 10 years. In 1999 my premium for coverage was about $250.00 per month. That same policy now costs me $1,097.00 per month, and that is coverage for one person.

I don't know about Hillary's proposals, or that much about anyone else's for all that goes. I do know however, that health care reform is being discussed again, and from where I am sitting I am a very strong supporter of health care reform, be it mandatory coverage or any other proposals. I frankly cannot afford monthly health insurance premiums that are running over one thousand dollars a month, and if you ask me, monthly health insurance premiums as high as this are criminal, to say the least.

illegal health care
I so agree with you on this. I typed a lot of reports a while back that are similar to what you are typing. Also, I thought it funny how many illegal adults were getting care through the hospital as well. The only way I knew this was those who were illegal did not have SS# when every other patient did. It's sad. I took a 2nd full-time job just so I could have insurance!
