After we throw the bums out

Maybe we should acknowlege that whoever volunteers for the job has ulterior motives.

What if we then select our candidates at random, like we do jurors for jury duty.  We select a slate of candidates that are average people with average lives, give them the chance to decline or get excused for good reason, then give them time to present a platform and vote on which one of them gets the office.  Derails the good old boy network completely.  We couldn't guarantee the new candidates wouldn't be greedy, but their greed would at least be less organized and not part of the sophisticated behind the scenes network that exists today.

I love it! Bunch of bums. NM

sorry, don't know, and I too am lazy

Or too lazy to summarize?

Are you too lazy or just too stoooooopid to look for yourself?
John McCain plan revolves around:

WORKPLACE FLEXIBILTIY
RELIEF FOR FAMILIES
GOVERNMENT REFORM
SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESS
CHEAP AND CLEAN ENERGY
BETTER HEALTHCARE
SIMPLER AND FAIRER TAXES
and
LOWER BARRIERS TO TRADE

Here, go read up and educate yourself:

Oh, I forgot.

With Obama, you won't have to do anything for yourself. The 'rich white folk' will have to pay for everything so you all can have cheaper insurance. Great plan.

Do your OWN research, o lazy one.
Why is it that Dems refused to think for themselves?

Oh, wait, I know.

They all have KoolA.D.D.
Lazy Response
It's the ultimate lazy person's response to say its "the same old show" and they're all alike. They're most assuredly NOT all alike. But it's a real convenient thing to say for those who simply want to hang out on the sidelines and offer snide, uninformed commentary.
For all the lazy people out there.....

No, that is not true. I don't believe only lazy people ask for help (sm)
and I am not a republican. I always vote for whichever candidate I agree with the most. To be honest, this year I am not happy with either choice. I will just decide who is going to be the least destructive and vote for him. The reason I said that is that you said you care about his Harvard degree, but you don't even know what he studied. So how can you speak so boldly? At least I am on here asking questions, of which you have answered none, even though you certainly have a nice vocabulary.
Therein lies the problem........too lazy to

Follow the link, oh lazy one.
You can see the Senate requistions for yourself. Barack's name is there there, along with the amount doled out, what the money is going toward, and WHO THE MONEY IS GOING TO. Doesn't take a braniac to copy and paste a recipient's name in and Google their relationship wtih Barack.

And I notice you didn't offer a link with any rebuttal informationl. Typical. "Ladies and gentlemen, I have 'investigated' this and the allegations are 'pure garbage.' What a joke. How much did YOU get from that corrupt dolt?

Sweep, sweep, sweep. The Dems shove ANOTHER Obama dirty little secret under the rug.
Yes they are and lazy to boot! That's why they're
:
It's not a lazy response, it's the truth.
The change we need isn't necessarily in the president, it should go all the way down the government. We need change in Congress (which is the same old show), we need change in state politics, and we need change in how things go through this government (the stimulus bill is the perfect example - why so much garbage added on to something intended to help the American people?). This would bring about the change that's most needed and that's in the trust we as Americans put in our politicians, which lately has been at an all time low.
You are one of those lazy people who just doesn't

That describes most of my town......I could add lazy
((
Not 'spoiled & lazy' just prefer not to live in their

I'm not by any means calling anyone stupid or lazy. sm
My objection is the government taking money and then deciding who is "most worthy" to receive it. I help those in need - I give to charities and volunteer at the food lines. I know there are people around me that have less than I do and I do what I can to help. The wealthy in this country are paying higher taxes because they're in a higher tax bracket than the rest of us, but for the government to tell them that in addition to higher taxes, now they have to give more so the government can then dole it out to whomever they wish? Who decides who those needy are, how much are they going to get, and for how long? Welfare was only supposed to be a temporary help line and now you have generations of people still collecting. I'm not down on people trying to better themselves in whatever way they can - what I'm down on is creating a whole new generation of people who are dependant on the government for all thier needs.
Gitmo -- bringing this up top cause I'm just lazy and don't want to scroll.

Obama told George Stephanopoulos at ABC News:

"We are going to close Guantanamo and we are going to make sure that the procedures we set up are ones that abide by our Constitution."

I'm sorry, but those being held at Gitmo are not citizens of the United States; therefore, are not entitled to any protection under the Constitution.  Why not say 'abide by the Geneva Convention'?  Even then, how many of our POWs were treated as outlined in the Geneva Convention?  Let's not forget, this is a war and these terrorists are POWs.  President Bush sought to protect the citizens of this country whatever the cost.  After the awful events of 9/11, it was his priority.  The world needs to know if you target the U.S. there are consequences.

And I want to know where they are going to put these 250 or so terrorists?  I live 50 miles from Fort Leavenworth and that's a little too close for comfort for me.  I assume some will be released to return to their country where, of course, they will plot their next terrorist attack.  While others will be housed in federal facilities like Leavenworth and then what?  We sit them down for tea and crumpets and ask them nicely if they plan on blowing anything else up here in America?

How quickly Americans have forgotten the victims and families of 9/11!
You are one lazy person.....go talk to business
they'll be glad to "enlighten" you..... you are one of those I see on here regularly that run your mouth and condemn Bush but never do you EVER hold Obama responsible for ANYTHING. We all know why but that's beside the point, well, at least to some degree.

And before you jump on the republican thing again, I am not republican and did not vote for Bush. As well I definitely did not vote for Obama; I saw the writing on that wall early on. You are a poster who firmly believes in government taking care of you and yours and, therefore, you will NEVER have a problem with him. You are the type that will always play the blame game to Bush as will many of those kind that voted for Obama. Only those that voted for him out of fear will ever come forward and say they made a mistake, as MANY are doing right now, including many of my neighbors.

Small business owners have already talked to their accountants about what they will have to do once Obama institutes his so-called regulations, which are nothing more than tax hikes, masqueraded (too big a word for ya?) behind all his jibberish about "revenue" and "profit" on businesses, which they refuse to clarify as of yet.

Do you know the difference between revenue and profit? You really don't or you wouldn't be so quick to think small businesses would NOT go under, so IF you have family working right now for a small business OR even a hospital, they will more than likely lose their job.

You need to do your homework. All I heard during the election was "show me the facts", which we all did and when they were put forth, those like yourself just pushed them aside and continued to point fingers at Bush, as if Bush was making Obama's policies.

Well, let's see...so far Obama has lied about NO lobbyists, he WILL go line by line, NO pork, NO earmarks............pleeeze!

Amazing how you haven't called him on any of these things. Why is that? Don't bother, we all know the answer to that? You are sooo transparent?
Call me what you want, just don't call me late for dinner. LOL....

Your kind live in a fantasy land....too lazy to even
Sorry to disappoint you but I am independent. I have sat and watched posters like yourself who have absolutely nothing to prove false any facts proven on this board.

You are a bunch of sad desperate people. People like you have given democrats a bad name and have pulled the democratic party in the mud.
So true! Needy vs lazy. 2 different things! Sending

Low class, hands out, gimme my share, I'm too lazy
to do it on my own crowd. The first ones to want it all given to them and the last ones who want to work for it. Of course they would boo the man in a wheelchair, never taught how to behave around respectable people.

where im currently living is okay... but
Nevada is hit HARD. South Carolina is doing fine as far as i can tell, but ive only been here two months.

my problem is my mortgage is in Nevada... so in turn, im not doing so great either.

hope everyone is doing as good as they can!
WOW! Then you are definitely living

in the wrong place and at the wrong time.  Because from here on, you'll be told exactly what to do and when, and probably how you're supposed to feel about it.

Told what amount of money it is 'seemly' for you to earn, how much you MUST surrender to maintain the lifestyles of others, and how much you may be permitted to keep - if you promise to spend it properly.  Told how much energy it is politically correct for you to use (please drive an approved vehicle) and what modern conveniences it is more 'green' to do without.  Told not to think too much: 'The science is settled.  The debate is over.'  Told what medical tests and procedures it will be proper for you to receive and which (so very sorry) it would be better for society as a whole for you to forego, because there is only so much to go around.  Told for your own good what to eat and taxed extra on the improper items you choose.  (Unless, apparently, you receive food stamps, in which case limiting your choice would be unnecessarily judgmental.)

Perhaps some will see all this as gentle correction from a benevolent parent, but this micromanagement sneaking in incrementally cloaked in a smily face will not really make me feel better about being told what to do.

They ain't living unless they are being condescending

and down right vulgar (hence the expletives tonight).  You're right.. the only time they have anything going here is when we come over.  They have nothing constructive to talk about when they aren't looking down their noses at conservatives who question their statements or bashing Bush.  It's a big yawnfest

That's why I'm using the moniker leftist/lib basher.  The best way to rile them up is to call them by what they call themselves.  Oh, wait a minute.  They're progressives now.  They'll be progressives until we call them that then they'll say we're calling them names and change it again.  Yes, they have tender widdle feelings.

What I do for a living is immaterial...
although since I post on this forum it should be obvious I am in the transcription industry. What is to you if I reply to every post? Did I miss the meeting where that was outlawed or you were named moderator?

What makes you think I don't put my energy toward making a difference? Whether I do or not is also immaterial...and with all due respect...none of your business.

Do you not believe in freedom of speech? If you don't like my posts, don't read them.

Your living in your own little world
Anyone who doesn't believe this is happening are living in their own world. Am sure you probably believe what the government tells you also. We are living in end times, however, the religious fanatics need to cool it as a lot of people don't believe in the "left behind" garbage that is spewed. Another prime example of lies to keep the people preoccupied.
Some of us have to make a living.
Got kids. Need to cook and clean and transcribe, balance the checkbook, pay bills, clip coupons and grocery shop, feed the kitties, watch news and fact check to stay informed. Chat room cat fights are low priority for me, especially with posters like yourself and sam, unlike those who stay ready to pounch 24/7.
i saw that too. she is living proof
that a fetus is more than a glob of cells.
For those that feel that way, try living in another
A country that has been divided and divided again but still always one trying to overthrow the other. Remember Georgia? Russian leaders can't leave them alone. Georgia separated and became their own country but still their neighbors want to continually cause them trouble..... the U.S. can't go that way unless you don't mind that kind of war in your own back yard.

You need to do some history study of nations that have split and all they do is war, not because the majority of people don't want peace, but because they leaders of each individual country always seems to be greedy and want to rule EVERYONE, not just their own country.
What does living in the northeast have to do with anything...
it's expensive pretty much anywhere you live. Put your kids to work if they are old enough, especially if they go to school, to help pay for that expensive food bill.
Then call it what it is...or call for conservation...
but don't make up a myth to try to gain control. That is what Gore is after...what all the global warming hoohah is after. They have an agenda...pure and simple. And the base fact is that a very low percentage of the greenhouse gas effect is from cars. Every time you breathe out, you contribute. Are we all going to stop breathing? Are cows going to stop belching? I have no problem with ethanol...I have used it. My husband is from Iowa...I would love it if we started using ethanol more extensively. But in previous years, Democrats (Hillary being a primary one) opposed the use of ethanol. I guess if I believed any of those people out there hawking global warming actually believed what they were saying it would be different...but I don't. The science is not there. As I said...if the real interest is conservation with the side benefit of less CO2...fine. Just say so. But as the article pointed out...if it is as bad as they say it is, you can't stop it anyway. It just does not make good sense to me.
Fine. Call if whatever you want to call it....
I will call it as I see it. I look at a totality of things. He has embraced black liberation theology which is racist and has Marxist tones for 20 years. There is no way the man went to that church for 20 years and did not know their doctrine. But, if you choose to believe that, again, fine. I do not. I believe he knows that theology backward and forward and believes it to his core. You don't have to. That is the wonderful thing about America. We can agree or disagree. On this we disagree.

Yes, I am feeling a pinch. But I don't think the government should take money from you and give it to me. I don't think they should take money from any private business and give it to me. If you think that is fair, fine. I don't. That is how socialism/Marxism takes hold. Historically it ends the same way. I don't want that for America. Perhaps you do...you want the pinch eased for you and if that means taking money from someone else that they earned, and giving it to you, who did not earn it, to you it is all good. To me it isn't.

He never has said who the $1000 checks are going to. I am thinking not every person in the whole US of A...so not only does he get to choose who he takes the money from, he gets to choose who to give it to. That would be another interesting piece of the puzzle. If he confirms to the Marxist view, it would be issuing checks to the "poor." And he gets to define who that is. You may be okay with that...me, not so much.

And by the way...have you ever researched an oil company profit margin? It is not as huge as Obama would like you to believe. But, again, he is counting on no one researching what he says. They hear free money and that's all they want to hear. Also, do you think oil companies don't employ people? You think it is one CEO at a desk in an office raking in billions? You don't think there are rank and file regular folks who work for oil companies? Whose jobs might be impacted by you and others wanting to take money away from their employers and doling it out to people who have not earned it? You think there is a chance they might have a problem with that?
I call, fax, and call again and I do campaign....
xx
And those of us who are conservative are living in fear that...
our courts will further erode our society to the point that everything goes.  Heck, one third of the country already has to live with the notion that their 12-year-old can consent to an abortion without our knowledge (thanks to the 6th circuit court in California, legalize gay marriage without letting "we the people" decide how we want our society (yes, 78% of Americans are against it), and I could go on and on.  Do you like the fact that another priviate citizen can now take your property just because HIS use of that property would generate more income for the government?  Sounds like socialism is rapidly becoming fascism to me.  You can thank the imminent domain decision to those wonderful progressives on the court.  Yes, let's hope we get another Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the court so our country can continue it's slide down the toilet.
Well, Mr. Clinton isn't living too shabbily himself
I think you better step back and rethink some of your claims before you say that Republicans are the only ones living in luxury etc. A funeral is a funeral not a political soapbox. Carter and Kennedy ought to be ashamed of themselves for making a memorial service into a political bash fest of the President who was sitting right there. How classless. You're absolute hatred of Bush is coming through to the fact that you can't see the mockery that was made of Mrs. King's funeral.

President Carter should be embarassed, but I don't think embarassment is a trait of liberals anymore.

Camera face time, and bashing Bush that's all that matters to them. They are blinded to decorum.
It must be nice living in ignorance. sm
You are certainly entitled to your opinion; however, you don't speak for any  majority anywhere.  None of us do.  You have obviousy not done any research at all into what adult or embryonic stem cell research can and cannot do, what they wish to do, and the dire consequence that have been predicted for stem cell research, including brain tumors.
looks like a bunch of sheep to me living in USA..sm

hmmmmm....?  Just because everyone is voting for Barack doesn't make any of it right - they all are bad candidates to some of us......

Then how are you making a comfortable living

This coment is living proof - nm

What would it be like living in a socialist country
Because we know Obama is a far left/socialist and if elected will change the country into a socialist country, can someone please tell us all what exactly that means for us.  Seems too many people are dummed down by the TV reality shows that they don't pay enough attention to what is going on.  So...because it's a fact about Obama, what will that mean for our country and what difficulties will be be facing.
i pay off my cards EVERY month, living

You are living in a parallel universe where
and vanising middle-class citizens get the shaft.
Can you imagine living in a red state, and
having to walk down your street every day, knowing most, if not all, of your neighbors thought that way? Where trying to have an actual conversation with anyone would be like talking to a brick wall? Where you figure all the moms & dads sitting in bleachers at your kid's little league came probably wear white sheets at night? Brrrrrrrr.......
Gives me the heebie-jeebies.
Sorry to hear you are living in a world where
people who embrace it are deemed as suspicious, subversive liars. Good luck on getting people to believe in THAT gloomy forecast.

I've not been taken in. I am old but can still remember when I took great pride in being an American. I sat by in silent dismay as I watched W and his cronies divide us and dismantle the America I come from with his "for us or against us" mentality, post-911 visions that would usher in a new American colonial era, the slaughter of our civil liberties with the Patriot Act, and the erosion of our unity and common sense of purpose.

I watched the candidates present thier visions, and made a clear and educated choice as to who I trust to return us to where we were and restore the America I want for my son.

Once more...no amount of negativity you throw in my direction is going to change my resolve to continue this fight to take our country back from those who I believe came very close to destroying it.
As opposed to a living human being
