You can see the Senate requistions for yourself. Barack's name is there there, along with the amount doled out, what the money is going toward, and WHO THE MONEY IS GOING TO. Doesn't take a braniac to copy and paste a recipient's name in and Google their relationship wtih Barack.

and I am not a republican. I always vote for whichever candidate I agree with the most. To be honest, this year I am not happy with either choice. I will just decide who is going to be the least destructive and vote for him. The reason I said that is that you said you care about his Harvard degree, but you don't even know what he studied. The change we need isn't necessarily in the president, it should go all the way down the government. We need change in Congress (which is the same old show), we need change in state politics, and we need change in how things go through this government (the stimulus bill is the perfect example - why so much garbage added on to something intended to help the American people?). This would bring about the change that's most needed and that's in the trust we as Americans put in our politicians, which lately has been at an all time low.

My objection is the government taking money and then deciding who is "most worthy" to receive it. I help those in need - I give to charities and volunteer at the food lines. I know there are people around me that have less than I do and I do what I can to help. The wealthy in this country are paying higher taxes because they're in a higher tax bracket than the rest of us, but for the government to tell them that in addition to higher taxes, now they have to give more so the government can then dole it out to whomever they wish? Who decides who those needy are, how much are they going to get, and for how long? Welfare was only supposed to be a temporary help line and now you have generations of people still collecting. I'm not down on people trying to better themselves in whatever way they can - what I'm down on is creating a whole new generation of people who are dependant on the government for all thier needs.

I'm sorry, but those being held at Gitmo are not citizens of the United States; therefore, are not entitled to any protection under the Constitution. Why not say 'abide by the Geneva Convention'? Even then, how many of our POWs were treated as outlined in the Geneva Convention? Let's not forget, this is a war and these terrorists are POWs. President Bush sought to protect the citizens of this country whatever the cost. After the awful events of 9/11, it was his priority. The world needs to know if you target the U.S. there are consequences.
And I want to know where they are going to put these 250 or so terrorists? I live 50 miles from Fort Leavenworth and that's a little too close for comfort for me. I assume some will be released to return to their country where, of course, they will plot their next terrorist attack. While others will be housed in federal facilities like Leavenworth and then what? We sit them down for tea and crumpets and ask them nicely if they plan on blowing anything else up here in America?

Small business owners have already talked to their accountants about what they will have to do once Obama institutes his so-called regulations, which are nothing more than tax hikes, masqueraded (too big a word for ya?) behind all his jibberish about "revenue" and "profit" on businesses, which they refuse to clarify as of yet.
Do you know the difference between revenue and profit? You really don't or you wouldn't be so quick to think small businesses would NOT go under, so IF you have family working right now for a small business OR even a hospital, they will more than likely lose their job.
You need to do your homework. All I heard during the election was "show me the facts", which we all did and when they were put forth, those like yourself just pushed them aside and continued to point fingers at Bush, as if Bush was making Obama's policies.

I just heard on NPR that Gary Kasparov has been arrested in Russia during a marching and protest of Russia's voting practice. This is NOT good. Putin is a very dangerous individual who has been funding the middle east conflict and selling weapons to those who really shouldn't have them. Kasparov is a potential light at the end of the tunnel for a more democratic and liberal Russian state. I am afraid for him.
