Good for Fox - I'm no Fox fan but I'll give them credit for doing the right thing

They say Fair and Balanced but they definitely are more conservative and Sean Hannity really gets on my nerves something awful. He's about as condescening as Rush and treats guests who are liberals as though they are less intelligent than he is.

When I am in favor of conservative viewpoint I will watch them, and when I am in favor of liberal viewpoints I will go to another channel. Never CNN because they praise the Clintons too much. Most of the time I watch MSNBC even though they are more liberal, but at least they are fair and civil to conservatives.

So I give Fox some credit.

I'll give you one good reason to vote for McCain.

Barrack Hussein Obama.....nuff said.

I think it a good thing to stay away and not give them a target. sm
It is so obvious they are brainwashed and cannot respond to logic in a sensible fashion, so it is no use discussing or arguing with them. You cannot argue logically with someone who has no logic.
You give him a lot of credit

In your view one man single-handedly has brought the world down in 5-1/2 years.  That's really giving Bush a lot of power.  If Clinton and other Democratic presidents were soooo great then why didn't they single handedly make the world a utopian place when they were in office?   Wow, Democratic presidents must have really sucked if you have the view that the Office of the President of the United States holds the power to either make the world Heaven or Hell.  It seems the Dems could do neither.  Man, they were lamer than I ever imagined if your view is correct.

Yeah and I give him credit
that's one time he told the truth.
I think you give the public too much credit!
They won't even know about it until someone shows up at the door to take their kids to the "campus." The American public is too apathetic to act in their own best interests AND too easily fooled by pretty words.
You are correct and I will give him credit for that, but SM
we need to remember that it takes money to train the SEALS and he is going to cut the military budget. Also we need to stop referring to these pirates and terrists as criminals. Remember what Bin Laden said back in the 90s. When Clinton pulled us out of Somalia because the soldiers were killed and drug in the street (Black Hawk Down), he knew the US was weak. You cant show weakness to your enemies.
I will give The Teleprompter credit. nm

What I'm saying is this (unsure this is coming out right). The US is in desperate times. Never since the depression have we had numbers of unemployment (which are continuing to rise), people losing their homes, people worried how they are going to make their energy bill payment or car payment because they've lost their jobs. How are they going to feed the kids. My dad recently told me that he has started going to the soup kitchen in his town to get his meals. He says he doesn't know how much longer he will survive if the economy doesn't turn around and he can find some work. He's even been talking about traveling to nearby states, but then he said everything he earns would go for the cost of gas to get there, plus they don't even have any jobs. My DH just went to stay with his brother and is looking for work elsewhere because the unemployment and homeless are skyrocketing here. My dad says it's very bad when there is one job and over 200 applicants. My aunt said the same thing, as did my cousin, three brother-in-laws, two sister in laws (out of 14 family members of mine 9 of them are unemployed, and 4 of them lost their jobs after the O took office - they all voted for the O because they said he said he has a plan and would save their jobs). Some have talked about going back to school to get retrained but they said "In what?" They said everything they are looking at is no longer an industry that is hiring and there the market is already saturated with people in the fields they are looking at studying and they have experience. They also said they voted for the O because he talked about getting credit to go to school, but none of them have been able to get that let alone know what to study, and better yet, the courses they would like to take are not being offered anymore because of cutbacks. I am reading newspapers from different cities across the country, getting onto "mycity" pages and reading what people are saying about what it is like where they live. They say how much more is this going to go on. They say the stimulus plan had promised job creation and it does not. And they all say this is not a good time for the President to be hosting weekly cocktail parties no matter how rich he is or no matter how much taxpayers are paying for it. They say a little discretion would be in order, and when (if) this country is turned around, jobs are created, homes are saved, and the American people see some relief then have a big party. But to use our money to host a cocktail parties where the guests are staff members and politicians in WA. is not a good idea. He needs to start showing some compassion/restraint.

I don't care about the superbowl party (everyone has them, why shouldn't he). I don't care about opening the white house for the school children or other good causes. I'm all for "anyone" being able to visit the white house, but our country is in such disarray and is hurting very very badly. This is not the time to be having weekly "cocktail" parties. Get the country back on track like you promised you would, then have your parties.

One thing I read that I admire President Wilson for. He did not have any parties at his 1917 inaugural (therefore I believe he didn't have regular weekly parties either). He stated that "having such festivities while there was a war going on would be undignified".

Our President needs to come back to earth and not be so free with the money so that he can keep partying at a cost to the taxpayers. That is not what we elected him for. We elected him because he had some plans to get us out of this mess and we are seeing none of us. The stimulus plan did not stimulate the economy, the bail-outs, did not bail them out (the bank bail-outs went directly to Dubai, China, and some other country) and some are still asking for more money. We're getting ready for some increased taxes, all while the politicians in Washington party it up.

This is not sending a good message, and even other countries are saying we don't know what the heck we're doing. But all the while crats will praise him up and down and will never find anything wrong with him. Some believe he is the messiah and others refuse to put down the kool-aid. They think its perfectly fine for the Washington crowd to continue to party til the cows come home while the country suffers. That is what I am truly dissapointed and mad about.

(as a side note, this has nothing to do with Bush, how we got into this mess or what. Bush is not controlling the parties, Bush is not controlling the endless (open checkbook) the crats are using. Bush is not forcing Washington to use taxpaper money to fund their parties. This has nothing to do with the past administration. This has everything to do with what is going on today and what will be happening tomorrow).

I will be so glad when 2012 comes.
Well, they're everywhere but I'll give you this...
And please read all of it. The word "offshoot" simply means an organization run by ACORN, whereby they make sure the actual name ACORN is not in the title but they oversee the group. Funny, how suddenly Obama is going to "amend" his report. Ya know what amend means.....fix what he lied about in the first place. He covered up the fact that he did this by trying to hide his involvement with the group. Now that he has been caught, oops, they somehow overlooked that and are now trying to "amend" their report. This guy is involved with more corrupt groups that will no doubt continue to come out over time.

Interesting comment.....
"For a candidate who claims to be practicing 'new' politics, his FEC reports look an awful lot like the 'old-style' Chicago politics of yesterday."

And please don't try to smooth over the facts by pointing out the little blurb about McCain. We all know what's really going on here. If the man can't get voted in fair and square, he'll lie his way into office.

Even the election offices in the states where this is happening are yellling loudly that they are receiving voter registration forms that are very obvious to them to be fraudulent. This accusation is being made by democrats alike, not just repubs.

Iran diplomacy leaves no room for a screw up. First impressions with them will go a long way, so they probably ought to keep VP Gaffe sidelined and come with some new guy on the block who believes in miracles.

'Holiday' Cards Ring Hollow for Some on Bushes' List

By Alan Cooperman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, December 7, 2005; A01

What's missing from the White House Christmas card? Christmas.

This month, as in every December since he took office, President Bush sent out cards with a generic end-of-the-year message, wishing 1.4 million of his close friends and supporters a happy holiday season.

Many people are thrilled to get a White House Christmas card, no matter what the greeting inside. But some conservative Christians are reacting as if Bush stuck coal in their stockings.

This clearly demonstrates that the Bush administration has suffered a loss of will and that they have capitulated to the worst elements in our culture, said William A. Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights.

Bush claims to be a born-again, evangelical Christian. But he sure doesn't act like one, said Joseph Farah, editor of the conservative Web site WorldNetDaily.com. I threw out my White House card as soon as I got it.

Religious conservatives are miffed because they have been pressuring stores to advertise Christmas sales rather than holiday specials and urging schools to let students out for Christmas vacation rather than for winter break. They celebrated when House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) insisted that the sparkling spectacle on the Capitol lawn should be called the Capitol Christmas Tree, not a holiday spruce.

Then along comes a generic season's greeting from the White House, paid for by the Republican National Committee. The cover art is also secular, if not humanist: It shows the presidential pets -- two dogs and a cat -- frolicking on a snowy White House lawn.

Certainly President and Mrs. Bush, because of their faith, celebrate Christmas, said Susan Whitson, Laura Bush's press secretary. Their cards in recent years have included best wishes for a holiday season, rather than Christmas wishes, because they are sent to people of all faiths.

That is the same rationale offered by major retailers for generic holiday catalogues, and it is accepted by groups such as the National Council of Churches. I think it's more important to put Christ back into our war planning than into our Christmas cards, said the council's general secretary, the Rev. Bob Edgar, a former Democratic congressman.

But the White House's explanation does not satisfy the groups -- which have grown in number in recent years -- that believe there is, in the words of the Heritage Foundation, a war on Christmas involving an ever-stronger push toward a neutered 'holiday' season so that non-Christians won't be even the slightest bit offended.

One of the generals on the pro-Christmas side is Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association in Tupelo, Miss. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether this is sinister -- it's the purging of Christ from Christmas -- or whether it's just political correctness run amok, he said. I think in the case of the White House, it's just political correctness.

Wildmon does not give retailers the same benefit of the doubt. This year, he has called for a consumer boycott of Target stores because the chain issued a holiday advertising circular that did not mention Christmas. Last year, he aimed a similar boycott at Macy's Inc., which averted a repeat this December by proclaiming Merry Christmas in its advertising and in-store displays.

It bothers me that the White House card leaves off any reference to Jesus, while we've got Ramadan celebrations in the White House, Wildmon said. What's going on there?

At the Catholic League, Donohue had just announced a boycott of the Lands' End catalogue when he received his White House holiday card. True, he said, the Bushes included a verse from Psalm 28, but Psalms are in the Old Testament and do not mention Jesus' birth.

They'd better address this, because they're no better than the retailers who have lost the will to say 'Merry Christmas,' he said.

Donohue said that Wal-Mart, facing a threatened boycott, added a Christmas page to its Web site and fired a customer relations employee who wrote a letter linking Christmas to Siberian shamanism. He was not mollified by a letter from Lands' End saying it adopted the 'holiday' terminology as a way to comply with one of the basic freedoms granted to all Americans: freedom of religion.

Ninety-six percent of Americans celebrate Christmas, Donohue said. Spare me the diversity lecture.

Diversity has been a hallmark of White House greeting cards for some time, according to Mary Evans Seeley of Tampa, Fla., author of Season's Greetings From the White House. The last presidential Christmas card that mentioned Christmas was in 1992. It was sent by George H.W. and Barbara Bush, parents of the current president.

Seeley said the first president to send out true Christmas cards, as opposed to signed photographs or handwritten letters, was Franklin D. Roosevelt. Merry Christmas From the President and Mrs. Roosevelt, said his first annual card, in 1933.

Like many modern touches, the generic New Year's card was introduced to the White House by John and Jacqueline Kennedy. In 1962, they had Hallmark print 2,000 cards, of which 1,800 cards said The President and Mrs. Kennedy Wish You a Blessed Christmas and 200 said With Best Wishes for a Happy New Year.

Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson continued that tradition for a couple of years, but it required keeping track of Christian and non-Christian recipients. Beginning in 1966, they wished everyone a Joyous Christmas, and no president has attempted the two-card trick since.

Seeley dates the politicization of the White House Christmas card to Richard M. Nixon, who increased the number of recipients tenfold, to 40,000, in his first year. The numbers since have snowballed, hitting 125,000 under Jimmy Carter, topping 400,000 under Bill Clinton and rising to more than a million under the current Bushes, with each president's political party paying the bill.

The wording, meanwhile, has often flip-flopped. Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter put Merry Christmas in their 1977 card and then switched to Holiday Season for the next three years. Ronald and Nancy Reagan, similarly, began with a Joyous Christmas in 1981 and 1982 but doled out generic holiday wishes from 1983 to 1988. The elder President Bush stayed in the Merry Christmas spirit all four years, and the Clintons opted for inclusive greetings for all of their eight years.

The current Bush has straddled the divide, offering generic greetings along with an Old Testament verse. To some religious conservatives, that makes all the difference.

There's a verse from Scripture in it. I don't mind that at all, as long as we don't try to pretend we're not a nation under God, said the Rev. Jerry Falwell.

Rush just said the same thing....give everyone with a mortgage...sm
something like $75,000 to pay down their mortgage.

Do you agree with him also?
I'll agree with you on one thing
the American people are, for the most part, ignorant sheep.
Most likely, the only thing you'll listen to are
X0X0
I'll agree with you - not on the crow thing
But the disturbing fact that he is surrounding himself with the Clintonites. I thought the O kept running on the platform of Change. This is not change. This is the same ol same ol. The Clinton presidency was so nauseating and so much damage was done. Even though I didn't want the O to win I at least had hopes he would bring in new people. Not the same bumbling bubble heads.

Thats good cos dems give no substance to
the conversations here. Just attacks at those who don't agree with them. Take a look at all the postings. Its the dems going after the republicans.
Good point. We give money because we want to.

One nation, under Stalin....right....you keep pushing that unity thing and we'll be completely
Keep trying to convince yourself.

It's Putin, and Chavez, and Castro that are so proud of us now.

That is, when they're not laughing at us behind our backs.

You are so naive.
You poor thing. I'll say an extra prayer for the demons to leave your heart.

Big hug.

I never said it's a bad thing, it is a good thing....nm

1 good thing he did for himself was get a

I think it is a good thing that they met.
Here is a quote from the above link:

After the meeting, the two issued a joint statement saying: "At this defining moment in history, we believe that Americans of all parties want and need their leaders to come together and change the bad habits of Washington so that we can solve the common and urgent challenges of our time."

"It is in this spirit that we had a productive conversation today about the need to launch a new era of reform where we take on government waste and bitter partisanship in Washington in order to restore trust in government, and bring back prosperity and opportunity for every hardworking American family," it said. "We hope to work together in the days and months ahead on critical challenges like solving our financial crisis, creating a new energy economy and protecting our nation's security."

Sounds good to me.
It might be a good thing...........sm
It might make a lot of smokers quit because of the cost of a pack of cigarettes. However, I don't think smokers alone should be expected to fund the lion's share of this health care bill since they are not the ones who would receive benefits from it. I tend to agree with the other person...why not tax the hound out of junk food and sodas?
Good thing..........
her family has lots of money - as she will probably be able to do all those things plus raise her baby. Something most families don't have right now - money.
Good thing...
...I don't mind tilting at windmills!
That's a good thing, because this ain't
no fairy tale!
credit for safety = credit for 9/11
If Bush wants takes credit for keeping us "safe" from terrorist attacks since 9/11, then he has to take credit for the fact that we experienced the largest terrorist attack in US history under his presidency, as well. He can't have it both ways!
I gave credit where credit was due.

I think Obama did a good job not saying anything about the hostage situation with the captain and I commend him for giving the order to the Navy Seals to do what they did.  But still.....I think the heroes and the biggest thank yous need to go to the ones who risked their necks to save the captain.....and that would be the Navy Seals.

All in all, I don't like a lot of things that Obama has done.  I know Bush didn't do us any favors in his 8 years either, but Obama is now in office and I do not like the way our country is heading.

As for not giving Obama any slack....how many of you people gave Bush slack on anything even when he did something good....cuz believe it or not.....he did some good things too.  It goes both ways.

kyoto is a good thing
Posted like a true republican who only cares about profit and corporations and not the environment and leaving the world a better place to our children and childrens children.  Its okay, with the emissions, gases, companies being allowed to pollute once again, why we can all just wear oxygen masks..and get a good SPF sun blocker..heck, like Bush said when asked about what he thought his legacy would be..he said he didnt know or care, as he would be dead anyway..Yup, that is real deep thinking and quite frightening..but he does not have anything to worry about.  When he leaves office (cant happen fast enough), he will go back to his *ranch* or Kennebunkport or wherever he wants to spend his millions.  He wont be in a world of hurt but the rest of us will, by his actions and inactions over a very very long eight years..No, I know much about global warming and Kyoto.  I have followed the situation since Clinton's administration.  I wont make absolute statements as I am not a scientist but from what I see and read, global warming is having a major effect on the world. .
Exactly! BIG Govt is not a good thing!
nm
how can "mandatory" be a good thing??
what happened to freedom of choice? I am not willing to give up my freedoms nor see those freedoms stripped from my children or grandchildren. why do you think this seems to be a good thing?
Enraged is a good thing when it comes to being
xx
ignoring the neocons is..a good thing!

It works, Lilly.  Its a breath of fresh air to ignore the neocons that frequent the liberal board just to vent their anger, LOL.  After ignoring them a few times, you dont even realize they are here anymore.  Now when I read posts, I totally zone in on liberal posts.

Condi Rice, OMG.  I cant stand that woman!

I agree this would be a good thing if it passes....

but she should move the ethics investigation to Harry Reid next:

That would also be a good place to start.

HAHAHA! Good thing that YOU are not running
nm
The only good thing about Obama being elected
would be that in four years, we can vote him back out. I'm with you, sm, less government, less government spending.
I appreciate the link. Always a good thing to be given chance
when it comes to watching a smear campaign implode all over itself.
Good thing kids don't get to vote
When I was little I think I would have liked to have Mary Poppins or Batman as president. If children like hero stories then they would be voting for McCain. He is a true American Hero.

Good thing we live in a Republic
and not a democracy

wow when it's moved everything is erased!! maybe that's a good thing? Lol
but I still think this is the right place :)
It's a good thing you have pride in the last administration....
otherwise, you would be lost. Your petty argument is lost on the majority.
Good thing Obama talked to them
all nice and friendly like.  So much for kissing their back sides Mr. President.  Maybe he should send them an iPod.
I think it's high time and a good thing

that RINOs finally declare their true party and leave room in the Republican party for true Republicans.  And Specter has, in an uncharacteristic moment of honesty (or senility,) illustrated the fact that every politician considers his first duty to be getting re-elected.  I hope that Specter gets soundly unpantsed in the next primary - as a Democrat.  That would truly put the icing on the cake.

And about Specter, isn't it about time for this guy to retire?  He is a great example of the 'senator for life' syndrome.

The Republican party put forth a very poor presidential candidate in 2008.  Maybe they learned from that experience and will return to more a conservative party line.  So if a few RINOs jump ship here and there, I think that's excellent.

It's a good thing Obama promised

not to sign any bills with pork in it....oh wait.....he lied about that and signed it anyway, didn't he?
