I used the last economic stimulus check
It was costing me about $25 in quarters every time I went to the laudromat. Not to mention gasoline and time spent not typing. I used the $600 to buy myself a portable washing machine (attaches to sink in kitchen when in use) and a portable drier. They use very little electricity. Washer uses very little water (good thing, now that we're in a major drought), and only a teaspoon of detergent per load. So it's nice to no longer have to pay at the pump and at the 'mat!

Lots of ways to cut down costs and giving our money to the government in taxes. I now pay all my bills online. Costs me nothing. Saves me a stamp (the price of which is going up AGAIN this spring), and the use of a check that i had to pay to have printed.

If they want to send me another $400, I'm sure not gonna complain. As a single renter with no kids, I have ZERO tax breaks. Last year, the I overpaid and Calif. OWED me $300. Then they very conveniently 're-figured' my taxes, and sent me a letter saying I actually made LESS MONEY than I had put on my return, and by their calculations, they didn't owe me anything. (???) If I made less money, but still overpaid the same amount in taxes, shouldn't they owe me MORE? Needless to say, if I owe them this year, they might just be getting a $300 IOU. They can spend their bailout money collecting it from me.
I believe this is the $250 stimulus check for retired people who are...sm
drawing Social Security. It is a one-time $250 check out of Obama's stimulus package. It has nothing to do with the stimulus checks sent out during Bush's administration.
GOURDPAINTER!!! I'm so glad you're back! I

agree with every single point made by Backwards Typist!!!

It's so good to see you return!    I hope you don't leave again.

This week. Check archives back thru July
Libs learned these tactics lessons from the republican camp.
I didn't send you anywhere. Can't send you anywhere that...
doesn't exist can I? This is all academic isn't it? And even if it did exist, I don't have the power to send you anywhere. That being said, I have a somewhat different opinion of the bad place with fire and stuff than some....but that is another story....lol.
You have to check and double check every single thing they say. They're not capable of telling t
truth about anything.  It's getting very boring and tedious to read their crap.  Why won't they stay on their own board like they tell us to do?
Send some my way I'm going to need it
Will that be coming by FedEx or UPS. Ha ha ha. Actually I think I better go stock up on my own.
I'll try to send it again....

Wow -- did she send you a copy before
releasing it to the public?  Someone else on here posted that you are very good paraphrasing, Sam, and I believe they are right.  The book hasn't even been released yet, but you'll go with whatever tidbit you can find.
OK, send me his address
He SHOULD have been told this before he was enlisted as cannon fodder for the war mongerers who were planning this fake war BEFORE the Supreme coup gave them the WhiteHouse.

No one doubts your nephew's good intentions for serving in the military. IN FACT, WE SUPPORT him so much, that we think he ought not be used as BAIT to secure more riches for the military industrial complex.

PLEASE do some research: This 'war' was manufactured and worse, 9/11 should have been and COULD have been prevented. IF THEY HAD DONE THAT, HOWEVER, they would not have been able to inflame a nation to war with a country that never attacked us.

SHAME on Americans who believe WITHOUT verifying or thinking for themselves!
Then don't send them your money....nm
x
send bush to

Iraq without all his body guards and see if he is so smug and smiley when another citizen of democracy goes for his shoes.  Bush says that is what democracy is all about --- yet he always has US protestors cordoned off far away from where he speaks in this democracy. The biggest sissy-boy the country has ever been run into the ground by.

What, like maybe send you our tax money?
nm
Send me some recipes. We could use some

supplemental income, too.

I'd do better than that! I think I'd send the brown

So you want to send a message to the terrorists.....
That Americans are all a bunch of corrupt liars who go unchecked and unpunished?  I think that if you truly wanted to protect the American people that you would want dishonesty and corruption investigated.  Guess not.
Yes, he is going to send "checks" to people who
nm
That doesn't give him the right to send it
:(
This is hysterically funny! Send to SNL!
funny
I will be happy to send you a dollar.
Just let me know where to send it. Gotta go now...it's almost time for sunset, and it looks like it's going to be fabulous!
The government didn't send them either.....sm
They sent themselves when they enlisted in the military. That is part and parcel of the job they signed up to do, and they did so willingly. The only "obligation" they have is that they love their country and want to serve America in the best way they could.
Yeah, right. Like he could really send his kids
I don't care if he sends his kids to the moon for school and it costs $900K per trip. Just so long as I don't have to look one more day at the current drooling, vacant-looking, substandard specimen of the human species occupying the Oval Office. Talk about a murky gene pool.
Thank you Amanda..besides, I think that if most parents could send their
child to private schools..and he and his wife are PAYING for it, so what is the problem??
OK then why didn't Clinton send Chelsea
to Mogadishu or Bosnia?   See what nonsense you're spouting.  You and Cindy Sheehan.  Maybe Cindy will take up a real cause and move a few hundred miles East and do something worthwhile and help the hurricane victims, but I doubt it.
Voters Send a Pro-Choice message
I read this in my local paper this evening. The entire column is a bit too long to post, but I personally found it interesting. Some highlights:

In three states, abortion was literally on the ballot. In South Dakota, a ban amounting to outright criminalization of the procedure was defeated soundly, going down by a yawning margin in a deeply red state. In California and Oregon, voters turned back efforts to mandate parental involvement in abortions for teenagers -- it's the second time California has rejected the proposal.

---

As Democrats seized control of the Senate, abortion-rights supporters gained ground. Incoming Sens. Sherrod Brown of Ohio, Jon Tester of Montana, Claire McCaskill of Missouri and Jim Webb of Virginia all support abortion rights. They all are set to replace anti-abortion Republicans -- and will vote in the chamber that decides on the fate of nominees to the Supreme Court.

In the House, at least 22 new pro-choice members are to replace lawmakers whose records were either anti-abortion or mixed on the issue, according to a count by NARAL Pro-Choice America. Final results in a few races still are unknown.

---

In Arizona's 5th Congressional District, where anti-abortion Republican incumbent J.D. Hayworth was defeated by Democrat Harry Mitchell, residents received fliers mocking Hayworth's support for letting pharmacists who say they personally oppose contraception to refuse to fill birth-control prescriptions. ``Sleeping pills? I don't believe in sleeping pills,'' a genial-looking middle-aged man in a white coat says in the flier. ``Try counting sheep.'' Tying incumbents to the pharmacist-refusal issue, as well as to their widespread opposition to emergency contraception, showed these lawmakers to be precisely where they are: Outside the mainstream.

Any comments?

If those were my children, I would send them to private school too -
Can you imagine the nightmare of keeping those children safe now in a public school? The interruptions to scheduling and life the other children would have to go through every day to be able to go to school with the president's children?

I don't blame him one bit for putting his children in a private school! And yes, I know they were in private school before too and if he can afford it himself, then that is okay too. Don't subsidize private school for people with my money though...
I would rather send a bunch of brown envelopes..
against people like you showing how full of (insert word here) you are.
But Barack's mother decided to send her son, when he was 11
years old, back to Hawaii to her mother.
Since then Obama was educated in America.
So, you judge how much one cares by how many care packages they send??? sm
Well, I'm at a loss responding because you don't know what we do to support our troops, but if it makes you feel better to think you do more than everyone else, then do go on.

My uncle is over there and he has told me not send him anything else, he wants to come home.
Send Senator Howard Carroll your suggestions. sm
He is retired now. No, I do not think a flight instructor is a small job, but it is a weenie job when compared to a soldier doing a tour in a war zone.
Please be right about taxing companies that send buisness overseas.
Wouldn't that be a jolt to the economy? I'd bet it would bring back at least half of the jobs lost to Mexico, India, and China. MTs would sure be in a slightly better position if it cost MTSOs more money to do business outside of the US than in it.

That would be a bill I would support - as long as they didn't attack so much pork to it!
Liberal news media won't cover it.... CNN did send a

Obama did say he would send more troops to Afghanistan while he was campaigning - nm

Dear Linda C in George -- don't send me any more personal emails...sm
post your comments on the board, please. Maybe other want to see your comments. Thank you. By the way, my entire post was from an online newspaper; none of it was my personal thoughts on the subject, aside from the Subject line above.

Email from Linda C in George:

I think it is a good thing for the University to cancel- you have seen the hatred put forth by McCain supporters- unreal- with almost a gang like trend to them. Oh, just 1 question- you wrote in your post this invitation was extended several months ago, like in February- strange that the people who invited him at that time did not KNOW who he was, right, even as late as 02/2008- but I guess Obama knew when he served on the Republican based board with him. You make contradictions in your statements but I get the jest. There are plenty of other states (mine included, Georgia) that have turned blue and I am looking for a total landslide for Obama.
I would think if they bring them here, when they "let them loose", they would send 'em home
x
Thanks to Obama? Get Real. He didn't send jobs overseas....
Most MT companies will not offshore work. Most hospitals and large clinics DEMAND that their work not be sent overseas. Unfortunately, you have those that LIE and I worked for an MT company that sent overload work to India. It was indeed, unfortunate, as the quality was horrible. But, I've trained plenty of MTs who were just as bad with "supposed" experience. They could pass a test, they just couldn't work accurately consistently. I blame that on the "production pay system." I learned MT when they used to respect you and paid you by the hour. There was no demand on HOW MUCH as long as it was COMPLETELY accurate.
Send a letter to the director of the school system and include that message. sm
This has absolutely nothing to do with being instructed in English.

Sounds like the teacher is foisting her principles and ideas on youngsters, which she has no right to do. It's none of her business who and who was not born out of wedlock. She has no right to tell youngsters to get married and stay married, that's none of her business either. She has no right to tell a youngster to take a job and keep it, no matter what the pay. I'm wondering how old this teacher is.

Write a letter of complaint to the Board of Education, stating the above and ask them what this has to do with English instruction.

She's not a morals counselor, she's supposed to be a teacher of English.

Maybe the ACLU would be interested. You never know. Can't hurt to ask.

It that was my kid, I'd be in the teacher's face big time.
stimulus
Where did you get that info from?
Stimulus
The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that eliminating the waiver requirement (which is what Pelosi et AL are talking about) would save $400 million dollars over 10 years. The stimulus package contains short-term and long-term stimuli.

Here's a link, but it wasn't working last time I tried it. It's a pdf so you'll need Adobe Acrobat to read it.

http://change.gov/open_government/yourseatatthetable/2008121

If you Google "CBO stimulus package family planning waiver" you'll find new articles with references to those same figures found in the CBO report.
The stimulus was this big because it has to be BIG.
The reason it has to be BIG is because there are a lot of things that need MONEY!!!  It needs to be big to get back on track, and if this doesn't work, your grandchildren will be eating dirt, everything is just that BAD!!!  HE HAS TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY!!!  That's the predicament we're in because of the last 8 years.  Taxes cut for the rich with 2B going to Iraq every week, we're still paying Iraqis to not shoot us at $250 a week per family, 700B a year for oil, and nothing for us.  So goes the Bush agenda which did very well for the rich, but not for you nor me, now we PAY!  You can't fight wars, deregulate the banks, cut taxes, etc., and expect it not to bite you in the a@@, and that's where America is now, broke and beaten to a pulp.  The gift Bin Laden never thought he'd receive.
gourdpainter...
We just finished a study of Revelation at our church. In the part you were talking about, "one man rising to lead them" it also says he will be diverse from the rest. He will be well liked, and many people will come to believe he is a "messiah".

Read this site just for face value, and just tell me if it doesn't make you cringe, just a bit.

http://www.theprophecies.com/antichrist.html

I pray that we do get our hiney's raptured right out of here before everything really goes down.
Oh please, gourdpainter.
Are you insinuating that Christianity is the only religion that believes in basic human values? Do you really think that anyone who is not a Christian automatically condones raping, killing, stealing, lying, or anything like it? We all have rights in this country, even minorities!
So okay, put it under gourdpainter
I'll stand by what I say.  LOL
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Gourdpainter!
This man and the running mate he has chosen (which I bet now he is regretting) scare me to death.  I have never in my life witnessed so much lying, hypocrisy and lack of integrity that these two people have have shown.  Anyone watching his face as he speaks would have to see the glaringly clear dishonesty of this man!
Gourdpainter, why do you believe that?
I am just wondering why you feel so sure that McCain is going to win...
I don't know, gourdpainter.............sm
why Wright is not being talked about in the political circles. My initial thought is the difference between him and Ayers or the others is that he calls himself a preacher/reverend. While I definitely agree with you as far as Wright's political statements from the pulpit, maybe it is that McCain and Palin have not jumped on him because they were made from a pulpit and they view that as "protected" in some way??? In other words, they as politicians are not supposed to bring God into politics, so maybe this is an off limits kind of subject.

I notice you keep stating that you don't want Palin as president. GP, she is not running for president; McCain is. And while the chance exists that he could die in office (not necessarily of evil intentions but rather due to age) and Palin could step into the presidency, I would rather have her there than Obama/Biden any day. I can assure you that Obama will be the final ruination of this country if he is elected.

I'm sorry you can't sleep at night. Maybe you need to rethink your vote and vote for McCain. I've noticed others on this board who have said they can sleep at night now knowing that they are voting for McCain. ;o)
Gourdpainter
Sorry I didn't answer! It was farrier day at my moms so I've been gone all afternoon.

I respect your opinion, and I understand where you are coming from. Honestly at this point all we can do is pray. There is just to much stuff I've seen of O that rubs me the wrong way. I just believe voting for Mccain is the lesser of two evils. Yes, it may be the same. But I'd rather endure 4 more years of the same and pray during those four years for a godly candidate to come about than to risk voting for someone who we really do not know about. That's just a big issue I have. We really still do not know who Obama is. We know who he is portrayed as, but there has not been enough time for us to know who he truly is and what he truly believes in.

This is my other big worry...if, God forbid, Obama gets assassinated, and Biden dies or whatever (his health isn't much better than Mccain's I'm pretty sure) then we have Pelosi. THAT is frightening. I would take Palin over Pelosi any day. And Biden could possibly misspeak his way right into a nuclear war. Of course I know your view on Palin so we won't go there... :)

Your right, Mccain is not a godly candidate. If the reason he left his wife is true, it's despicable. But you know what, he's apologized. And I'm sure he has asked forgiveness. We all do things we are not proud of. Obama lies until he is backed into a corner (such as Rev Wright) and then when he finally can't back up anymore he then says "oh I condemn what he said." Not good enough to me. I don't care what the man says, he did not sit in that church for almost 500 Sundays and never once hear Wright preach hate. Straight up, he lied. He has been saturated with this hate. Yes, I believe he will bring change. While we don't know if he is a terrorist, I firmly believe he is anti-American. I believe he wants to bring about a "New America". While we have things wrong with this country, we are still a great country when you get down to the nitty gritty and I don't think every facet of American life needs to be changed. I think that is what he believes. He has his head in the clouds. Just look at how he is now saying "ohh don't get too excited". Why did he promise all that at the beginning? To get the votes. To get people to decide on him, because you know the majority of people aren't going to change their minds now.

He's promising you more days off from school and more vending machines in the halls knowing he can't give them to you. He has people following him now like lemmings on a cliff.

Also, I feel like there are a lot of big red flags coming up from the Bible. I feel like we are going to be face to face with Jesus and he's going to say "I TRIED TO WARN YOU!"

I understand what you mean though, about God not telling you. Sometimes I wish he would just make me a neon sign :). Just make sure you sit still and listen, because if you're like me sometimes he may be shouting at you and you just can't hear him.

I encourage you to definitely take some time to yourself and just sit and talk with Him, and see what he puts on your heart.

I understand the appeal of Obama, I really do. As a 22-year-old college student, I feel like one of a few of my age group that isn't voting for him. I really liked him at first, but the more and more I read about his association with Wright, his view of the "typical white woman", his view on abortion, etc., I just feel like he is not the man who is going to lead our country back to God, and ultimately, that is what we need. Like I said, Mccain probably won't either, but I fear with Obama there may not be a chance to elect another Christian president. I fear that he will go as far as to quiet our preachers and to limit what we can say as Christians. If he doesn't personally, the democratic congress will, and I don't believe he will say no to them. That's one thing I like about Mccain, you know he will say no if need be. I just think Obama owes to many people. He didn't make it up the ladder this quick without a lot of help.

Well, it's back to work for me. Take it easy!

I think gourdpainter has.
.
i, gourdpainter...
I asked this question already a while back and nobody answered it.
So I guess, it must have something do to with the 'uterus', perhaps?
LOL !
Another invention of the Republicans to proof that they are right?
Thank you, gourdpainter.

Oh, gourdpainter....sm
I know for a fact, that you yourself usually possess what my grandpa used to call, "good ol' fashioned horse sense."

It just amazes me that you don't recognize it in someone else.

Your mind is already made up, so I don't think I can explain it to you.
