...how her daughters' dresses complimented it (or maybe the other way around?), with one of them wearing a red dress and the other wearing a black one.  It seemed that she was somehow "encompassing" her daughters with that color choice.  (I'm not explaining this coherently; I apologize.  I just can't find the right words.)
