Dennis Hastert Questions Rebuilding New Orleans

Wouldn't it be nice if precautions could be taken to build this city correctly to prevent another tragedy?  Nah.... Bush won't go for that.  Killing people in Iraq is more important.

Hastert Questions Rebuilding New Orleans

The Associated Press
Thursday, September 1, 2005; 5:04 PM

WASHINGTON -- It makes no sense to spend billions of dollars to rebuild a city that's seven feet under sea level, House Speaker Dennis Hastert said of federal assistance for hurricane-devastated New Orleans.

It looks like a lot of that place could be bulldozed, the Illinois Republican said in an interview Wednesday with The Daily Herald of Arlington, Ill.

Hastert, in a transcript supplied by the newspaper, said there was no question that the people of New Orleans would rebuild their city, but noted that federal insurance and other federal aid was involved. We ought to take a second look at it. But you know we build Los Angeles and San Francisco on top of earthquake fissures and they rebuild too. Stubbornness.

Hastert's press secretary, Ron Bonjean, said Hastert was not suggesting New Orleans should be abandoned or relocated. The speaker believes that we should have a discussion about how best to rebuild New Orleans so as to protect its citizens, he said. What he is saying is that rebuilding the city in the same way is not sensible.

There are some real tough questions to ask, Hastert said in the interview. How do you go about rebuilding this city? What precautions do you take?

Hastert announced Thursday that the House, currently at the end of its summer break, would return for an emergency session Friday to approve some $10 billion in federal aid for hurricane victims.

In the wake of this disaster, the people of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida should know that the United States Congress stands ready to help them in their time of need, he said in a joint statement with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn.

The word *confirmed* strikes me.
Thompson said he talked with three people who were present for that meeting and that they all confirmed that President Bush called the Constitution a g-d- piece of paper.

Wow - if I couldn't decide before this has really confirmed it for me.

We watched C-span so that we could be assured nothing would be cut out.  Then we went to MSNBC to see their comments and then FOX to hear their comments.  Sure enough MSNBC was filled with a bunch of sour grapes.  What were they saying about her speech?  Nothing.  They were just upset because she called the media on what they've been reporting about her and they didn't like it.  They want to keep bashing and putting her down and have nothing said back to them.  They are so biased it makes me sick.

This is my likes & dislikes about Sarah Palin.  I like that she is not from Washington.  I like that she has been governor of the state, has passed laws, has made Alaska a better state that works for the people.  I like that she got rid of all the wasteful things (fancy jet, personal chef, chauffer).  I like that she can stand tough when she needs to.  She's knows how to get things done and she's not afraid to go up against the "big boys".  I like that she firmly believes in the 2nd ammendment of the constitution, the right to bear arms, and I like the fact that she knows how to use arms.  I like that she cares about America more than she cares about herself.  I like that her husband owns a business and she has helped him work his commercial fishing business.  So I know she is not for more taxes.  I like that she took from the big oil companies and gave the money rightfully back to the people who deserved it (the Alaskan citizens).  I like that she is a mother, has kids in school, has been to the PTA. That means she is aware of the education system and I like that she got involved to make the schools a better place for all kids.  I like the fact that she and her husband decided to have a child knowing he would have down's syndrome and I like the fact that she doesn't wear it on her sleeve and when she talked about her baby tonight she said our newest addition, a beautiful baby boy (not a beautiful Down's syndrome baby).  I like the fact that her daughter is pregnant.  To me it shows she is as real of a person and her family is the same as most all other Americans and facing the same thing all other americans are.  I like the fact that she was not born into a wealthy family, she worked hard to get where she is at.  I like the fact that for all the snips and nasty comments the democrats said against her and John McCain last week she can dish it right back (and with facts! - which by the way is all the liberal media focused on tonight (how much she picked on the other side)).  I like the fact that I know she and her husband sit down at night after their kids go to bed and they talk about real issues (his business, their kids schooling, etc etc).  I think she is a wonderful, hard working person.  Very knowlegeable about issues (has to be to be a governor).  I like the fact that she does have more experience than Obama does, which because he is running for President he should have more experience then someone running for VP.  Tonight after her speech DH & I both said we need to move to Alaska and have someone like her as our governor.

What I don't like...maybe she's a little too "religious" for me and I've heard that she wants to teach creationalism in schools.  BUT (I wanted to make sure I put that in big letters...but) I can't confirm that and I'm not sure if that is a rumor put out by the liberals, so I really can't say I don't like that about her because I don't know if it's true.  Just keep religion out of politics and I'm happy with that.

So far I can't see anything I dislike about her (which is a far cry from 3 days ago when I couldn't stand her because all I was listening to was MSNBC and CNN).  Now I'm researching and reading more about her accomplishments.

I think she's a wonderful person and will make a fine VP.  Also I do have to say I've been learning more about JM over the past couple days and I have a lot more confidence and respect for him as our next president.  I loved R. Guliani's speech and Mike Huckabee's and the Governor of Hawaii (forget her name).  They all gave fine speeches.

So that's my opion.  To the one just blabbing about how our taxes are going to be raised, blah, blah, blah.  It's all scare tactics.  When the democrats are in is always when people pay more in taxes.  Government grows, jobs go overseas, America becomes less secure, military gets cut way back  Remember NAFTA because of Democrat Billy who shipped jobs overseas and people lost good jobs and homes.  Then he turned around and created these "false" jobs where people had to take jobs paying 1/2 of what they were getting paid but because they paid them so low he could create more jobs giving a "false" impression that he created all these jobs (these people still had to go on food stamps).  Remember how your taxes were raised because of Democrat Billy who jumped my tax bracket from 21% to 37% and even then at the end of the year we had to pay an additional $2500 cos we didn't pay enough to support all of his programs.  Remember Kosovo, Somalia, etc.  Remember how Democrat Billy gutted the military which made our country less safe, hence the first attack on the world trade centers.  Remember how Democrat Billy had the chance to capture OBL but he didn't.  Remember the lies.  Remember how Democrat Hillary was trying to socialize health care.  Some people may think Bush is "one fry short of a happy meal" but at least our taxes went down, and we had job security and our military was built up and I once again had faith in the country,  Sure the country is not perfect.  Sure President Bush has made some real "dufus" decisions and mistakes, but it's nothing compared to the mess the country was in the last time the Democrats were in office.

That is why I'm voting for McCain/Palin.  I've got my fire resistant suit on.

Ok, you confirmed it - politics sucks!
No message really, just that politics sucks and their all crooked.
Cabinet is nominated by president, then confirmed by Senate
White House Staff is different.
LA times
Everyone knows the L.A. Times is a liberal rag.
How many times?
Really is irrelevant. This woman is being used as a shill for a Marxist/Leninist organization called ANSWER, which has anything but America's interests at heart.
100 times????????

Okay, so when caught lying just spin an even bigger lie.

This is really getting out of hand on this board.  All you CONS do is lie.  This is crazy.

Okay, so please cite the 100 times I have accused someone of lying.  This is your chance to squash us libs once and for all.  I am waiting.

Maybe 300 times? nm

How many times have you said ANYthing?

How many times have you used that
just curious
How many times do I have to say this? sm
NO ONE, NOT ANYONE, EVEN A MOTHER OR A FATHER, can renounce a child's American citizenship, ONLY the child at the age of majority, 21, can choose to revoke it. PERIOD! Get it? NO ONE! This is per my brother who is an immigration attorney.
How many times have we seen

reporting that there is nothing to report...over...and over...and over, and repeating the information they DO have over, and over, and over?  Going to the suspect's neighborhood, place of worship, high school, etc. trying to interview the ex-wife, parents, other people he knew, speculating like crazy just to fill air time and keep a big story alive?  Or investigating the victim of the crime, going to his neighborhood, interview family, etc.,  to make the victim seem either a saint or a stinker?

The press never takes no for an answer.  Denied hard facts from court or cops, they generally just make pests of themselves messing around in the suspect's personal life to find nuggets to report, then blather on and on.  But they apparently do not consider this a big story.  That they are not following their usual pattern in itself is a big story.

And many, many times...
physical abuse and murder happen without even a trace of slander. Go figure. ;-)
LA Times Article

Great article in opinion section of LA Times (you can get it online).  Dated 06/24/2005, "Hustling on K Street" by Jonathan Chait, concerning Bush paying back the lobbyists and big business.

Reps. John Conyers and Maxine Waters are trying to get a meeting going in Congress tomorrow with Republicans joining in this time to debate and discuss the Downing Street Memos.  Dont know if it will be covered on C-Span, sure hope so.

Laughter for trying times.

Ain't that the truth!!! ~MJ

You accused someone several times of something they did not do. sm
And yet you harp on.  Have you no shame?
I probably have used third person at times....

Why is it so important to you?

And if you cannot see the obvious differences in writing, well, you appear to be quite ignorant or unobservant or else you are not telling the truth.  But that is your problem and I am not going to make it mine!!!

Yes, PK, too many lies too many times

How many times are you going to say the same thing?!
Geesh! Get over it! You already said, "attacking an innocent..." like a million times! Wow! Move on to the next story already!
No, that would be you......several times today and beyond...nm
z
I don't dismiss. How many times have I said...
that all of us should vote for who we feel is best for the country? How is that dismissing? Yes, I am conservative, have always been conservative. I have not changed...the parties have changed. That is why I am now independent..independent of any party. That is how I view being an independent. You have to register as SOMETHING to vote in national elections...and independent most closely defines me at this point, not republican or democrat.

Check out the date on this. Of course, this came as no surprise to me. It's surprising to ever find an objective article from the NY Times, but sometimes they surprise us.

Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending
By STEVEN A. HOLMES

Published: September 30, 1999
In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

In addition, banks, thrift institutions and mortgage companies have been pressing Fannie Mae to help them make more loans to so-called subprime borrowers. These borrowers whose incomes, credit ratings and savings are not good enough to qualify for conventional loans, can only get loans from finance companies that charge much higher interest rates -- anywhere from three to four percentage points higher than conventional loans.

''Fannie Mae has expanded home ownership for millions of families in the 1990's by reducing down payment requirements,'' said Franklin D. Raines, Fannie Mae's chairman and chief executive officer. ''Yet there remain too many borrowers whose credit is below what our underwriting has required who have been relegated to paying significantly higher mortgage rates in the so-called subprime market.''

Demographic information on these borrowers is sketchy. But at least one study indicates that 18 percent of the loans in the subprime market went to black borrowers, compared to 5 per cent of loans in the conventional loan market.

In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980's.

''From the perspective of many people, including me, this is another thrift industry growing up around us,'' said Peter Wallison a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. ''If they fail, the government will have to step up and bail them out the way it stepped up and bailed out the thrift industry.''

Under Fannie Mae's pilot program, consumers who qualify can secure a mortgage with an interest rate one percentage point above that of a conventional, 30-year fixed rate mortgage of less than $240,000 -- a rate that currently averages about 7.76 per cent. If the borrower makes his or her monthly payments on time for two years, the one percentage point premium is dropped.

Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, does not lend money directly to consumers. Instead, it purchases loans that banks make on what is called the secondary market. By expanding the type of loans that it will buy, Fannie Mae is hoping to spur banks to make more loans to people with less-than-stellar credit ratings.

Home ownership has, in fact, exploded among minorities during the economic boom of the 1990's. The number of mortgages extended to Hispanic applicants jumped by 87.2 per cent from 1993 to 1998, according to Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing Studies. During that same period the number of African Americans who got mortgages to buy a home increased by 71.9 per cent and the number of Asian Americans by 46.3 per cent.

A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine that  America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.
Pause a moment, reflect back.
These events are actual events from history..
They really happened!!!
Do you remember?
1. 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male extremist.
2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim male extremists.
3. In 1979, the  US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim male extremists.
4. During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim male extremists.
5. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim male extremists.
6. In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim male extremists.
7. In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at  Athens , and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim male extremists.
8. In 1988 , Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim male extremists.
9. In 1993 the World   Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim male extremists.
10. In 1998, the  US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim male extremists.
11. On 9/11/01 , four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim male extremists.
12. In 2002 the  United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim male extremists.
13. In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by-- you guessed it-- Muslim male extremists..
No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people... Absolutely No Profiling!
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss,  but leave Muslim Males alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
According to The Book of Revelations:
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, he will destroy everything.
And Now:
For the award winning Act of Stupidity Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful position on the face of the Planet -- The Presidency of the United states of America ... A Male of Muslim descent who is the most extremely liberal Senator in Congress (in other words an extremist) and in his 40s.
Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???
I'm sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the 'unknown' candidate Obama...
Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other stupid attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense.
As the writer of the award winning story 'Forrest Gump' so aptly put it,
'Stupid Is As Stupid Does'

Because, as has been pointed out, several times here....
he is still in charge.  Obama isn't even in the White House yet, but you seem to think it's fine and dandy to talk about him.  I can see Russia from my house, also.
How many times in the last 8 years did
a chance to succeed? You used the phrase "last 8 years" or "8 years ago" 5 times in your post and President's Bush's name 4 times. It is not just you, most people say "for the last 7-1/2 years" or last 8 years, etc. To me that means that they never gave our current president a chance and have never respected him or his office. However, these same people expect everyone who did not vote for Obama to instantly forget everything we have learned about him and fall at his feet. Well, some of us are not drunk on his Kool-Aid and he has to earn our respect.
GP - how many times do we have to repeat
It is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center and is funded by the Annenberg Foundation. Obama, Bill Ayers, and Factcheck.org all have ties to the Annenberg Foundation.

Obama has ties to Factcheck.org. In 1995 Obama was appointed Board Chairman and President of the Annenberg Chicago Challenge - A branch of the Annenberg Foundation.

Factcheck.org is part of the Annenberg Foundation. Factcheck was also chosen by the Obama campaign as the arbitrar of Obama's birth certificate.

Anyone can put two and two together and see that Obama and The Annenberg Foundation pays Factcheck.org to put out the false information.

Factcheck claims it has "verified" the O's bc, but other sites has found several inconsistencies which call into question whether the certificate is authentic.

Before you tell anyone they should quit reading blogs that have any useful information, you should not be citing a website that is clearly misleading people and feeding them false information, and that is paid for by the Annenberg Foundation which = Obama.
LOL....more like 3 times a night...(sm)

He actually provides enough goofs to keep 2 channels busy -- MSNBC and Comedy Central.

I have to watch O'Reilly.  It's like watching a train wreck.  How else would I know what Jon Stewart and Colbert and talking about....LOL.

Personally, I tried 6 times and still

can't get away from them. Even this tax probably won't help. You name it, I've tried it except Chantix (sp) but I need a doctor to prescribe it and I don't have a doctor yet.

My mom smoked until she was 79. Died 4 months later. DH doesn't care if I don't quit after that because his mother died 6 months after she quit. Doesn't make sense, but it did happen.

Because I was corrected a few times on here, that's why. (nm)

How many times do we have to explain to you...
Especially since what they have posted is a forgery.

Yeah.......... Times are getting so bad......... sm
criminals are going to have to get jobs!

Good to see you Marmann. I read below of your most recent illness. Sorry to hear that happened but glad to see you are feeling well enough to argue with the rest of us bathrobe pundits!
How many times do you have to be reminded
Guess you couldn't argue with anything I had to say so you picked on "your" versus "you're". If you going to be the spelling police then please stay off this board.

So you don't think I'm an MT because I spelled your wrong????? Talk about freaky that there are people with this kind of mindset. Is your (you're) a medical term? No. How about encephalopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, facet rhizotomy, essential hypertension, and how about millions of other "medical" terms.

Don't you know the difference between this board and an official medical report. Here, let me educate you. This here board that you are on is called MTStars. It has many different topics you can go to. You can gab about issues that concern you (non-political/religious), but if you want to have a political or religious discussion you come to one of these specialized boards. Now if you want to be spelling police you are not to come to this board. There are other sites where you can do that. If you type in some different terms in Google you might find one to your liking. Otherwise stay off this board.

Hence, because you evidently do not know the difference between MTStars gab/political boards and offical medical document I highly doubt you are an MT my dear.

I have been MT'ing for 10 years now, and you know what...I could give a rat's you know what whether or not you think I'm an MT because I spelled it your instead of you're.

And also don't presume to know what party I am, because your showing how true it is about people who assume.

Take your spelling police protocol elsewhere or don't come on the board at all.
How many more times are you going to post about this

How many times was Clinton

accused of sexual harrassment? I mean seriously.  You've got Edwards cheating on his wife who was dying...what is up with that anyway....she is still alive and wrote a book.  Is she not dying now?

This kind of crap happens on both dems and pubs side.  I'm not saying that either side is right when doing it.  I frankly find it disgusting but if you are going to go after pubs it might be nice to look at your own party first and see that people in both parties pull this kind of crap.  What is truly sad is that people only seem to go after the politicians in the opposing party rather than holding them all accountable for this kind of crap.

Good article in LA Times
I just read an article about Bush.  It states nothing he has done in his five years has benefitted the working person, only the corporations or extremely rich.  It went on to explain that the rich got $91,000+ in tax cuts, the working class were lucky to get $300.00, heck I didnt get anything.  Yet we now have a major deficit because of the tax cuts.  It also stated the passing of tort reform, keeping law suits for people who are hurt by hospitals, drug companies, major corporations, left maimed and crippled for life, they now have a cap on how much they can receive in a law suit.  Then there is the bankruptcy law.  Corporations can still claim bankruptcy and start over, heck, Trump has done it twice, but in October the working class no longer will be able to.  They will have to go to credit counseling and set up a payment plan for the bills they owe.  The lobbyists are having a hey day in Washington D.C. and it was never this bad but when you have all of Washington controlled by one party, i.e., Republicans, they do what they want.  When they held the Downing Street Memo meeting in Congress the other day.  The democrats asked for a room to hold the meeting and were told by the ruling party, there were no rooms for them to hold a meeting.  So they held the meeting in a cubby hole basement room.  And what company is getting all the business in Iraq?  My my, the company Cheney used to run.  Coincidence?  I think not. Enron and other major companies did not pay taxes in the last few years.  Every year, I end up having to pay extra. Now he is pushing private accounts for SS.  Oh, geez, during the early 2000's I lost money with my 401K.  I would rather get a SS check but you see, its his plan to destroy anything that was created to catch a person before they fall through the cracks, those were created by Democrats.  He does not want govt to be responsible in the long run for a person who needs help.  I look at it this way.  I think a person should take responsibility for their life but if something happens and they need help, for pete sake, that is what govt is for.  I would rather my taxes help my brothers and sisters of America then wage war.
The 259 is the cheap stuff, what I use most times.
I saw on the news the other night threats from the president not to ship oil to the US, I didn't catch the reason. And this could further raise prices.

I don't even want to think about the heating bill this winter.
Yes, it is erroneous . On going through archives it is at least 100 times.

Off with her head.

I have many times tried to encourage debate
You are the one spouting numerous hateful adjectives towards me.  I have tried and tried to understand your way of thinking and I can come to only one conclusion.  You are blinded by your politics to the point that you are out for nothing but revenge, but you can take solace in the fact that you are not alone.  You and many, many unhinged extreme left wing people have managed to hijack the mainstream out of the Democratic party.  You are operating under some kind of delusion that everyone hates Bush as much as you all do.  You think because there are a few hundred people in Crawford, Texas getting a lot of media time that you have somehow turned the corner.  Again, another little delusion in your collective minds.  You can spew every hateful word you can think of towards me and people like me, but in the end it does nothing to deter the fact that you are working under a skewed reality.
NY Times Accused of Treason.sm

Neocons Accuse “Liberal” New York Times of Treason
Monday June 26th 2006, 8:05 am

Michelle Malkin, neocon blogger and concentration camp advocate, has posted a spate of converted WWII posters on her site, taking the New York Times to task for reporting the news, albeit a year late.

According to Malkin and New York representative Peter King, the New York Times stands accused of treason “for reporting last week about a secret financial-monitoring program used to trace alleged terrorists” and disclosing “a secret domestic wiretapping program,” according to CBC News, never mind both programs violate the spirit and the letter of the Constitution. “No one elected The New York Times to do anything,” King told the New York Daily News. “They’re breaking the law to satisfy their own arrogant, liberal agenda.”

In Bushzarro world, newspapers are “elected” to report the news. If newspapers report the trashing of the Constitution, this is treason. In Malkin’s world, it follows that traitors should be thrown in concentration camps, especially if they resemble in any way Arabs or Muslims.

It would seem Mr. King and Malkin suffer from memory loss. It was Judith Miller’s “arrogant, liberal agenda” that brought us the neocon lies about illusory Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. As Antony Loewenstein writes for the Sydney Morning Herald, the “vast majority of [Miller’s] WMD claims came through Ahmed Chalabi, an indicted fraudster and one of the leading figures in the Iraqi National Congress (INC), the group keen to militarily overthrow Saddam. Miller relied on untested defectors’ testimonies (usually provided by Chalabi) to write several front-page stories on this information,” stories that did not pass the smell test at the time and have found the memory hole since.

Ahmed Chalabi, convicted bank fraudster installed as a deputy prime minister in Iraq, was a neocon darling. His Iraqi National Congress, created by the CIA, was the primary source of Judith Miller’s “journalism.” In short, Judith Miller was a hack for the neocons, thus making the New York Times a neocon conduit for lies and propaganda.

Even though the New York Times serves as a shameless shill for the “arrogant, liberal agenda” of the neocons, this does not change the fact the newspaper is protected under both the First Amendment and statutory procedure (see the Supreme Court case, Bartnicki v. Vopper). In 1971, the Supreme Court ruled in a per curiam decision that prior restraint (censorship) was not warranted in a government effort to stop the New York Times from publishing the Pentagon Papers. “There’s a tone of gleeful relish in the way they [the Bush neocons] talk about dragging reporters before grand juries, their appetite for withholding information, and the hints that reporters who look too hard into the public’s business risk being branded traitors,” Bill Keller, New York Times Executive Editor, told the Washington Post.

King and Malkin, of course, have nothing but contempt for Supreme Court rulings. It is irrelevant that NSA whistleblower Russell Tice (the source behind revelations published in the New York Times) is protected by federal law. King and Malkin believe the unitary decider and his Machiavellian operatives have the right to look through your financial, medical, and library records, listen in on your telephone calls, read your email, and sneak and peek your computer hard drive and while they’re at it rifle through your underwear drawer because “we are at war” with an enemy never sufficiently documented or designated, an enemy who worked for the CIA in Afghanistan and is not specifically “wanted in connection” with the nine eleven attacks, as his FBI wanted poster reveals.

Obviously, King and Malkin, and the whole of the neocon choir, believe the phony “war on terror,” rechristened the “long war”—i.e., it will last a century or more, or long enough to provide obscene profits for the death merchants—gives the “permanent revolution” Jacobins the right to trash the Constitution.

Quite naturally, this brings to mind Hitler’s Ermächtigungsgesetz, or Enabling Act, an element of the Reichstag Fire Decree nullifying the civil liberties of German citizens after the Reichstag was torched (a fire planned by Goebbels and executed by Göring, according to SA man Karl Ernst).

Bush, not unlike Hitler, feels he has the authority to by-pass Congress (mostly corporate purchased whores, so this is a moot point) and use the Constitution as a doormat where the unitary decider wipes off his shoes, mucky with the blood a few hundred thousand Iraqis.

Well, honestly Democrat, the times that has been tried here. sm
I have been tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail by everyone but you.
If you can repeat yourself a zillion times..
Hearings where grounds for impeachment are the only topic of discussion are accurately referred to as imjpeachment hearings. Your attempts to distract do not change anything. The issues and evidence are up there for you to read. The links are provided. Dennis Kucinich can do this better than any of them. Watch the CSPAN interview and then come back and tell me there's nothing there.
A very interesting NY Times article
