a video that is a fact and a 747 that is a fact. If you want to think it just appeared in the desert for no good reason...that is up to you. If you see a video that is obviously Muhamed Atta and a man identified by all intelligence sources as being part of Hussein's government, and that they were probably just old buds having tea, that is also up to you. Both of those were reported on CNN, which is NOT a far right wing anything, much the opposite. Even dear old Wesley Clark admitted to both, and he is about as far left as you can get. And, my friend, your bias causes you to discard fact simply because it does not fit your agenda. What you are posting is your opinion based on what you accept or do not accept from what you read, just like mine is. What I have not discounted is video evidence and a 747. Makes me wonder what it will take to open your eyes if 9-11 did not do it. Oh yeah. I forgot. 9-11 had nothing to do with Saddam Hussein. Yeah. Uh huh. the President visiting personally with families of fallen Iraqi soldiers. I have seen it covered numerous times. Why do you not accept that, and find fault that he has not actually attended a funeral? Why do you discount that his presence would turn a funeral into a media circus? It is not like he and Laura can fire up the Chevy and just go in and sit down like anyone else. Get a grip, Lurker. No family who had lost someone would want that...whether than be an Iraqi soldier or Jamey Bishop killed at V Tech. This is all about Bush and your hatred of him and of this administration. Clinton did not go personally to any of the funerals that I know of, he did not meet with the family of that soldier whose body was dragged behind the Jeep in Somalia on national television...but I do NOT find fault with him for that. It does seem like you are grasping at straws to find fault. Yes, soldiers have died in Iraq. The civilians being killed is horrible; killing happens in war. These civilians, however, are being killed by their own. They were being killed by Hussein before; they are being killed by their own now. Which is better? The fact that when Hussein was killing them we weren't there? They were still being killed. So, it was okay for them to be killed by gas, or killed in torture chambers, and your sensibilities were not offendeed; however, now that they are being killed by their own by car bombs and the like, that is somehow horrible because the US is there? Either you are horrified at civilian deaths or you are not. Your justification, and the justification of the man in the article makes no sense to me. That is what I do not understand about the left...you seem to trot out compassion when you want to make a point, yet are curiously silent if the same situation does not fit your agenda. Frankly, I do not understand that thinking. You cannot let the President's compassion for the victims of V Tech just stand...you have to demean it by saying where was his compassion for soldiers killed in Iraq. Pardon me if I don't understand it...and I, frankly, don't. If you had no problem with him being in VA Tech, then you should not have come on and posted criticizing him and comparing the two things. That seriously puts your *compassion* in question. Sorry, but that is how I see it.

I know Muslims in this country who have turned from the hateful evil beliefs that were forced down their throats. They did not have the freedom to learn anything else growing up. But after they gained their freedom and came here, they were able to receive the Word of God and they have told me that NEVER were they taught anything about loving others, just other Muslims, and that the God they learned about spoke of nothing but killing and hate... so if Obama is receiving large donations from those middle eastern countries, as you say, and he is grounded in Muslim culture, being taught this in school for years as a child, do you honestly think he doesn't carry some of those beliefs with him? He's never denounced it.

Tthe media threw down their gauntlet as soon as she was picked on that Friday, and hounded her for almost a full week.
And you think she should have waved a white flag at them in her acceptance speech? She put them on notice, that she is above them. And continues to be, with grace and style.

What if they gave an election and nobody came?
Do you think this will be a high voter turn-out year? Voter registrations are waaaay up this year. (Barring, of course, the fraudulent registrations which will hopefully have been resoved by election day.)
It's certainly been the most hotly contested campaign season I can recall - and I've been voting since the late 70s. There's so much bravado and blustering coming from both camps, and the media clearly chose their darling many moons ago, it seems like people will either be so sick of it, or apathetic about the outcome, that a lot of folks simply won't bother to show up.
I know there's been a massive push to register young voters. Our college campus has been crawling with people trying to stir up support for a certain candidate. My daughter and her friends are apporached every time they attend an event, from football games to local band open mic nights. But do you think everyone will actually turn up on election day?
And this may be totally UN-PC, but I'm not so sure everybody SHOULD vote. I mean, if you're too lazy to register, are you really going to be doing your due diligence and educating yourself about each candidate's policies and proposals?
What do you all think about it?

I still wouldn't see the problem. You have to listen to the entire statement. He said pointedly that he was not trying to tell the students how they should believe. But, if all you got over the newswaves were the butt end *Jesus died and was born again for the sins of man* then the entire point would be lost anyway.
That said, I think this teacher needs to find a job in a political science class where his comments would be more appropriate. I don't think he should be fired but a) moved to a political science class or b) told to stick to the cirriculum. I don't think either will be enough for those out for blood on this case.

He did tell us that we could speak to him afterwards on a personal, friendly basis and ask if we wanted to know who he would recommend outside of church. Anybody who reads their Bible knows who any pastor is going to vote for based just on abortion issues, etc.

All I can say is, if he is elected, I hope you are not experiencing severe buyer's remorse this time next year.

I felt sad watching his speech. You could tell it is a big dissappointment for him and all conservatives.
His speech was eloquent and sincere.
When Obama gave his speech tonight, I...
noticed the audience was made up of different ethnic groups. What I also noticed was how they embraced one another - whites were hugging blacks, blacks were hugging whites, etc,etc. Obama said he wanted to bring about change and he already has begun to accomplish that. When he says, "Yes We Can," he is talking about overcoming adversity.
A lot of you may not have voted for Obama, but don't be bitter and angry because he won. When you become bitter and angry, you only hurt yourself in the long run.

It is a sad day for a lot of us. Obama won - congratulations. I know his fans are happy. So McCain does not speak as eloquently as Obama. I wouldn't think he would as Obama is a lawyer. But then again I was not voting for someone because of their speaking ability. I was voting for their issues they support.
Obama had none of them (or "it"). Obama's plans are bad for the country, but so many people fell under his spell with his speaking ability.
Tis a sad day for our country when someone is voted first because of their color and second the way they speak and how he convincingly tells you he's going to give all the poor and low income people stuff for free.
Did anyone notice his message in his speech tonight. He's already planting the idea that he's not going to fulfill all the promises he made during his campaign. So time will tell as to when he starts breaking all the promises.

Pelosi, Reid and other people in congress that just voted themselves in a pay raise without so much as a thought to what is happeneing in the economy. "Hey Sam Smith just lost his job and he's got 2 kids, a sick wife to support, and his house is getting ready for foreclosure. Many Americans are finding themselves out of jobs and homes, hey I know, lets give ourselves another raise, $180K a year is not enough"
And what about the promise Bush gave, I think about capturing him?
