I guess I must have missed something. s/m
Because it seems to me that most of these posts are about slamming Obama or dems or "progressives" as you call them, or putting down the people that are genuinely happy about the prospects for a brighter future, which we have not felt for a long time.  Some of us lean left, and some of us lean right, but we ALL need to do a little more leaning FORWARD if we are going to make any progress.
Guess you missed the part about
Afganistan is where it's at. Obama gets that. He also gets Islamic parties, politics, principles and culture and knows precisely how to use that knowledge to get the Moslem world to isolate their own fringe elements. Bush and McCain know how to promote policies that anger and empower terrorists to declare WWIII and turn the whole world up-side-down.
I am sorry, I guess you missed the sarcasm.
Besides, I asked for someone to give me details and facts that Mrs. Obama is "snooty" and looks down on everyone else.
I guess you missed the part in his . . .

speech where he proudly mentioned that HE is a CHRISTIAN!!!  Seriously, does that really sound like downplaying religion?  GET REAL.

I guess I missed the part where she was...
conspiring to rid the world of gays. I read that she simply wished her daughter to not be exposed. Unfortunately, I agree with you that she is probably fighting a losing battle, but why is everyone so hard on her trying to keep that kind of thing away from her daughter? If she feels that strongly about it, then I would think that it is not only best for her to shield her child from such things, but her duty to keep her child from things that she views as harmful. Everyone has the right to protect his/her children from outside influence that he/she believes could be detrimental.
I guess you missed the part where he said one thing....
and voted another way. The teachers union in Chicago is responsible for the short days and skyrocketing salaries, but it is not translated in better educated kids. Did you not see the testing scores, the graduation rates, etc.? Of course not. When it got to the parts about Obama looking bad, skimmed right over that "substance." LOL. Sigh.
I guess I missed your earlier post....sm
because I'm not the 1 poster who did respond, lol. I am an Independent who happens to be voting Rebulican this election year (but I guess that is no secret, lol).

I agree....If a person, no matter who it is, is found to be constitutionally ineligible to hold the office of POUS then he/she should be impeached on grounds of treason and jailed immediately.
I guess I missed it, or Obama got a hold of it. SM
Says "this video no longer available." What was it about?
Guess Maria Gavrilovic missed the speech as well. nm

First about blogs............sm
While some blogs are not at all reliable sources as they are nothing more than personal opinions, much like we are expressing here, this blog is for the San Francisco paper with a link to the actual interview, the whole interview and not just a snippet as the previous post contained, and the speakers, are identified by name. I encourage you again to listen to this. You are an intelligent woman, gourdpainter, and I cannot believe that you don't want to avail yourself of all the possible information in order to make an informed decision.
You are correct....others have....all over several blogs....
and another variation...Obama bin Biden. Don't agree with it, any more than I agree with going after candidate's families. Either candidate. Obama complained about people going after Michelle for her "proud of her country comment," said going after spouses was wrong, but have not heard him defend Cindy. Unfair if its Michelle, fair if it is Cindy. He's a politician and he is not any different than McCain in that respect. So much for change. Picked a guy who has been in Washington politics longer than most any senator on the hill. So much for change in Washington. Joe Biden a few months ago was saying he would be proud to be on a ticket with John McCain. Ahem. Sigh.
We shall see. I never put much faith in blogs...
but, perhaps those who go to Obama will be replaced by those who come to McCain from the other side. Sorry...nothing will dampen this for me today. :)
I can't find this authenticated anywhere but in blogs....
that the McCain campaign is doing this. Is there a more credible site than a blog that you know of?
Comments from the Blogs of Eternal Stench. SM
Here's what Randi's listeners contend:

--- That Bush waited too long to tour the damaged region,

--- That he'll need to bomb Iceland, or some other helpless country, to deflect attention from the disaster,

--- That Cheney's only concern was with Gulf oil rig damage (followed by cracks about his heart condition),

--- Why didn't the administration have sandbags ready in time? One poster suggests the President be locked up for this supposed offense.

--- National Guard troops were unavailable because they're all in Iraq,

--- Bush cut funding for New Orleans levee system, therefore the storm damage is his fault,

--- The President was more worried about playing golf than lining up donor aid for victims.

Al Franken's fill-in Rachel Maddow sounded quite similar, with some debate tactics thrown into the mix. Without callers with which to spar, debate belongs in quotes, she's only taking on herself.

Conservatives take callers and blog reader messages from across the ideological spectrum, while lefty hosts often don't, especially at Air America. Why is that?

Some of Maddow's Bay Area-shaped conspiratorial mindset:

--- Bush is responsible for the resulting flood damage, because local officials had long warned the feds this type of event was inevitable,

--- Bush knew the pumping system was inadequate but did nothing to fix it,

--- Louisiana National Guard troops have been begging to return home from Iraq, but are ignored. This led to a supposed lack of soldiers to protect New Orleans.

Note the many similarities between Maddow's show and Randi's website comments.

A key difference: Maddow falsely ties together facts that don't fit, while Randi's posters are purely emotional.

If you go to an auto wrecking yard and put a thousand random car parts together, will you create a racecar, or a hunk of junk? Maddow thinks she has one ready for the Autobahn.

Her tactics are just like those of extreme-right John Birch Society conspiracy theorists, slanted to the leftward fringe.

For instance, you'll never hear her explain the potential timetable for such levee upgrades, whether Bush actually supported them or not. Could they really have been ready in time to prevent this?

What evidence is there to support her claims these improvements were opposed by the Bush Administration because the very same funds were needed for the war effort?

Has there been an accusation from any Louisiana public official that having National Guard troops in Iraq has somehow impeded Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts?

On Wednesday, 1600 police officers were redirected to the city to restore law and order. So where's the shortage?

If the warning signs of a catastrophic collapse in New Orleans were so clear, why haven't Air America's hosts been talking about the subject for the last 18 months?

Perhaps most importantly, could even the costliest upgrades have protected the city from a Category Five hurricane's near-direct hit? Especially during a major power failure?

Maddow didn't address any of these inconvenient points during the hour I heard.

Even better, Rachel, why don't you explain how you have any moral authority to criticize Bush, or anyone else, while you've sat silent for over a month on the sleazy scandal affecting your company.

It was the one where $875,000 in taxpayer funding meant for a Bronx-based community center apparently went to your network's coffers.

I'm sure you've heard about it by now, haven't you, Rachel?

Lydia Cornell Blogs The Truth
Death Is Sexier Than Sex (to Ann Coulter)

Guest Blogged by Lydia Cornell

Sex is sort of losing its appeal. Death is sexier these days, at least that’s the impression I get from Ann Coulter, who makes a living calling for the killing of Liberals and repressing the free speech of Democrats. She may appear to be joking, but she is not. And Coulter actually claims to be a Christian. Like Pat Robertson and George W, she seems to take perverse delight in defining Christianity as the opposite of itself, so I suspect she belongs to the Antichrist trinity or the Taliban sect of Christianity.

I never mix religion with politics, but for Christ’s sake, don’t they know that Jesus was a Democrat? In fact, a bleeding heart liberal?!! The Great Peacemaker was the very essence of love and compassion; he was revolutionary in his softness and forbade vengeance of any kind. How the Christian right has twisted Christ’s peaceful message is one of the riddles of our times. I’ve been bewildered to the point of jaw-gnashing agony at how certain fundamentalists can call themselves Christian, when they do not follow the teachings of Christ! I feel I’m going insane. Right after the 2004 election when You-Know-Who was elected, I actually developed a nervous tic in my left eye, like the Police chief in the Pink Panther, who was driven berserk by Inspector Clousseau. Of course there's no comparing the lovable Peter Sellers with the witless, war-mongering leader of the free world, but I don't want my eye twitch to come back so I'm trying to stop hating him so much. I think I figured out a way to talk to Ann Coulter: turn the other cheek and let her hit that one.

But it's so twisted and malevolent that Bush called himself a Christian and did the exact opposite of what Christ would do by rushing to war with 'shock and awe' -- and claiming he had an audience with God in this decision! The other day a plumber came to fix our sink and told me his wife has breast cancer; since I've had many miracles from prayer I told him I’d pray for her. Then I quickly apologized, I'm a democrat -- but I pray. He laughed really hard and said, Yeah well I think Bush is a war criminal.

Are we in the Twilight Zone? The only God I know is the God of Love. These right-wing Christians are engaged in the most dangerous perversion of Christianity I've ever seen! And despite what Cheney said recently defending our mission in Iraq -- all successful revolutions start from within; nothing is ever truly won by force. We could have gained allies in the underground and hovered over Saddam for years instead of carpet bombing precious Iraqi children, entire cities and looting ancient Babylonian museums. And by the way, whatever happened to that warehouse of weapons that was 'misplaced?' Does anyone remember what I’m talking about?

Anyway, Coulter seems to be a turn-on for certain young Republicans (the ones that go on field trips to hear Coulter spew hate...with jokes at anywhere between $16,000 and $30,000 a pop.) It was bad enough when our heroes were just anorectic models and athletes, but now we have a new generation of hate-speak-worshippers. It’s true, hate sells, but I predict that the most exciting thing on the horizon is peace, even between Republicans and Democrats. Fighting and divisiveness are getting boring; 'moderate' is the new sexy. I mean in a world where everything is so intensely fringe, the only way to go is to the center, toward harmony. Think of Halle Barry, the most gorgeous mixture of black and white. Think of the 'Gang of 14': meeting in the middle, working things out, getting along -- it's ground-breaking! In other words, loving your enemy -- which is what The Great Peacemaker taught and what any good Christian would advocate.

Good don't guess. It's my guess though.nm

If there was........I missed it

Check website for Today show and get the advisor's name - Suze "Orzeman?" somebody.......she has a website, you can get answers there. Watch stock fluctuations.

I must have missed it
But obviously anyone who elected to high office unconstitutionally or illegally should be removed from that office. It would be a crime and should be punished.
Yes, GP, so sad, so bad. Where were you, we missed you...nm
nm
I must have missed that...(sm)
Where is this news?
Has the SC met and I missed it? sm
The only place it has been cleared up is in the minds of the Obamatrons who blindly follow and believe everything the man has to say.
Hey, GP. You were missed.
Where've you been?
WHAT? I missed that one!!

There's just no accountin' for some people's moods!!

I'm sorry....I must have missed

where we blew up the terrorists ship killing soldiers.  I missed where we hijacked their planes and killed thousands and thousands of them in one day and then danced in the street praising Allah.  I missed where we bombed their WTC using a car bomb.  I missed where we beheaded anyone we held prisoner of theirs.

We aren't doing things to terrorists just for sh!ts and giggles here.  They have been at war with us for a long time.  We finally go to war with them and WE are the bad guys?  How so?  Should we go back in history and put every president on trial for things that happened during the wars?  Cuz there would be several presidents that would be put away if we go that route.  This is war. We do what we have to do to keep Americans safe.  What would you have said if we didn't interrogate these prisoners and LA was hit like they were planning.  Or what about the Brooklyn Bridge they were planning on attacking as well.  What would you think then?

I know exactly what you would think....you would ridicule Bush for not seeing it coming just like people did with 9/11.  The warnings were there.....he should have known, etc.  Well....Bush did what he did and we found out and stopped those attacks saving American lives and all you guys talk about is how two known terrorists were waterboarded.  Cry me a friggin river.  They are still living and breathing with their heads attached to their bodies which is more than I can say for some Americans they have captured.

GET A CLUE!  These harsh interrogations saved American lives.  The president is to serve and protect and he did and all you can do is cut him down for keeping YOU safe after 9/11.

I would waterboard a terrorist to keep YOU safe.  Why...because you are my fellow American and I care about YOUR life.

Do you even remember 9/11?  The phone calls from the people stuck in the building to their spouses to say goodbye.  I sat in front of the TV for a whole week with tears in my eyes each time I heard one of those phone calls saying goodbye.  Or how about the brave people who overtook the plane from the terrorists and plunged to their death.  What about the people who were trapped in the building and jumped to their death?  Do you not remember any of this?

How in the world can you feel sympathy for anyone who finds joy in what they did to us on 9/11...especially since they want to do more?

You probably missed the map.

You missed something...(sm)
the discussion kind of switched over to homosexuality in ancient Greece.  That's why I say historical facts.
Brunson, I think you missed
the point. Democrat was being I believe satirical and quite humorous at that. No notorized documents or right-wing-approved web sites or links are needed here...and she is right, if Hillary or any other Democrat jaywalks we will hear endless monologue on the moral decay of the left. Chill.
I must have missed the humor in this.

And you must have missed that on a daily basis, the far left have developed a gang mentality where all the usual rules have been thrown aside.  You aren't debating here, you realize?  I could go on, but I won't.  There is no point.

I think you missed my point. sm
But I think this points out where the disonnect lies between those who understand the deadly threat of what we are fighting against and those who do not.
Yes, but missed it. Will try to catch it during
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Wow. Looks like I missed that part.
One blurb just said Bush will speak via satellite and RG was "bumped." Still curious about why. Please post if you hear anything.
Must be lunchtime. Missed you this a.m.
Author of the best one-liners on the board. Keep 'em coming, whenever you get the chance.
And you have missed my point entirely.

Michelle Obama is a career woman herself.  Between her and Obama....they make like 1 million bucks a year.  That isn't all his income....that is hers as well.  She spends time campaigning and traveling to give speeches.  You say SP shouldn't be VP because she has young children.  Here Obama is with young children and nothing is said.  We assume Michelle is with them 24/7.....did Michelle personally call you and tell you that??  I am just saying that this whole argument about not liking SP because she should stay home with her children is just as relevent to argue when it comes to B. Hussein Obama and Michelle Obama and their children.

I refuse to continue to banter back and forth with you about this.  No...I don't know personally if Todd is giving up his career to stay home with the children but I see Michelle doing a he11 of a lot that keeps her away from her and Barry's children.

You missed the point. I was not just
the people in the path of Ike, I AM in the path of Ike myself. I have small children and animals to worry about and there is no one else but me. You cannot understand what it is like to know that evacuation orders are being called, some voluntary, others mandatory, that the path of the storm changes every 3 or 4 hours and you have to make decisions about whether or not to stay or leave. You either stock up on nonperishibles which go flying off the shelves within hours, board up and hunker down or you board up and get the heck out of Dodge.

All day yesterday and last night, the weather channel was announcing that some mandatory evacs had been called, but NOBODY, including local media outlets, was actually saying which ones they were. My comments were more or less about the lack of media coverage but I am also not apologetic about feeling some resentment toward the herd mentality and worship of one single SKIRT, a word which I intentionally chose because as far as I am concerned, up against 5 million people running for their lives and MY OWN CHILDREN, her comings and goings and all the smut politics that has been surrounding the nonstop media blitz was trivial and insignificant. If it were your home, your car, your chldren and your life, you would get that. What is even more disturbing is the fact that some of you do not even seem to have the capacity to take a single moment out of all this juvenile rhetoric and tit-for-tat outrage to stop and just simply try to put yourselves into somebody elses' shoes. Next to my children, SP is a pipsqueak, a skirt....a NOBODY. Wee needed some HELP and we couldn't get it because of all this stupid nonsense. Don't you get that?
I'm sure you would have missed it since all you are interested in sm
is your own agenda. You can't even listen to anyone else's point of view and all you can respond with is sarcasm.
You missed the point....
I really don't care if it offends you. If McCain and Palin were taking donations from Muslim countries, I would say the same thing. I am just not one who cares for all that politically correct garbage. Where does that get us?

Considering Obama's "buddies" in the middle east, wouldn't surprise me at all if he doesn't have all kinds of donations by "questionable" people/terrorists....wonder why they felt the need to lie about their name? If you can't deal with that.....too bad!!!
You have missed my point entirely.
I have no problem with an African-American president if that person is the right person for the job.  I know there were assassination attempts on white presidents obviously as they all have been white...duh!  I'm just saying that there are plenty of crazy whackos out there......just look at the KKK.....who would do anything to not be ruled by a black man.  The KKK is just pure hatred against blacks.  I'm not saying I believe that or agree with that.  I'm just saying that the risk is higher for Obama because of this bigotry.  I do not wish anything bad to happen to Obama so don't play the race card or call me a racist.  I'm just saying that everyone keeps talking about McCain killing over and dying but no one mentions the fact that Obama could very well be assassinated by some crazy-@ssed KKK groupie.
I think you missed the point here.

Of course the economy is important and on everyone's mind right now.  This is the worst economic fiasco since the Great Depression.

It's not always about the money.

Yes you missed something. The point!
Oh, self-proclaimed guru of the message boards. Go back to digging up rocks with your husband.
I must have missed that book
in the bible that calls for voting for McCain/Palin. I'll have to look again.

I believe Jesus was a radical, but I still don't see where he calls for a specific candidate.
Gee....you must have missed the chapters
about Babylon and you must have not read the whole book of Revelations.
p.s....missed you, sam....glad to see you...:-)

WELCOME BACK SAM!!!!! You have been missed..by me at least. nm

I might have missed that thread but I...
didn't miss the thread of negativity in your posts.
Welcome back GP...You were missed. nm

I think you missed the part where I said...
*and I do believe in making stipulations for how that money is spent.*
You obviously missed the point. (sm)

While this legislation is targeted at abortion, it doesn't actually say abortion.  It says "procedures."  Given it's broad language it can be translated into any type of procedure.

But lets take this scenario into consideration.  Girl gets pregnant and wants to have the baby.  Girl's health is at risk if she has the baby.  Doctor does not believe in abortion at all, so does not have to give that patient the option of abortion.  Get the picture yet?  It's not all about abortion.  It's about limiting health care in general.

I missed y'all too s/m
Been to Texas to visit the grandkids.  What a time we had!!!!   I'm always interested in politics as well as history.  During our 10 hour trip (both ways) I read "With Fire and Sword" which was about the Civil War in Arkansas, reconstruction and the politics that went with it.  I was surprised to learn that there is really nothing new, corruption and party fighting go back forever.  A good read for anyone interested in historical facts.
You missed the point.
When was the last time you read an article or saw a photo of W hob-knobbing with the great unwashed?
Yup - missed the point
Didn't expect anything less.
You must have missed the reports about
who all was in the audience and how he only invited the folks that he believes have supported him (AKA AGREED with him) over his presidency. Guess O just did't measure up to the criteria for that elite fraternity.
