Because he's saying they should do that, but yet he's not applying the same rules to the U.S.
Can we say...hipocrit. He needs to keep his mouth shut. I think he's changed his mind about three times. No wonder they are saying we are meddling. Oh, and then he says there is no difference between the two that were running against each other. Talk about speaking about something you are totally ignorant in. What's that saying from B. Franklin. - Better to keep one's mouth shut and appear foolish than to speak and remove all doubt". (not the exact words but I can't think of it right now.

I heard Obama talking
about that bill. I cannot remember what he said was on it that he did not like, but I remember he said that those babies are protected without it. That it is already a law that they have to get medical attention if they survived the abortion.
He knew that was the case when he voted, so that was not the issue, and it would not subject them to being left to die.
Just when I thought I'd heard it all . .

I do not remember seeing any posts on this board likening Michelle Obama to Louis Farrakhan...the only posts I have seen link Farrakhan to the church they went to for 20 years. I have seen no posts about the half brother other than one posted by a dem.
All that being said...and the point that was attempting to be made is that the announcement might have been made in a different way, had the far radical left not hit the internet with that ridiculous story about Bristol having the child and passing it off as her brother. THat was mean, hurtful rumor, and several here posted it and defended it. There have some right fringe stuff about Obama that could have been printed here, but I for one do not carry that kind of ... for lack of a better word...personal rumor not proven crap back to this board. To quote your candidate...I think we are better than that...or maybe...I wish.

What in the heck is this all about? Do we not have enough to worry about besides nonsense this which means absolutely nothing? I cannot believe a discussion would even be going on. She has nice arms, show them off, other first ladies have as well, Jackie O, Mrs. Reagan, anyone who had decent looking arms. I heard this solution and thought it was interesting
Someone proposed that instead of bailing them out, you give 3.5 million to each American citizen. You let them tank (which they should and deserve), and those Americans who now have 3.5 million dollars can spend it in the economy, save it whatever way they want (back into the banking industry, etc), and the economy would build back up. Of course don't know all the details, just heard that and thought it was a pretty good solution and I can bet you all Americans would say yes to that plan.

Foreclosures are on the rise, unemployment is on the rise, 3+ trillion more in deficit and on the rise, companies shutting down, Clinton for SoS. Napolitano - one of the biggest tragedies to happen to America. The list goes on and on and on and on.
Dubya is not in office anymore. You think dubya "pulled the trigger", well the O keeps reloading it and continues to pull the trigger.

Only in America, folks), oil industry (record profits at your expense) credit card companies and unethical banking procedures (Funny isn't it how Visa wrote the reformed BK bill, making virtually everyone end up in ch 13 (garnishing income, including SS) after raising credit limits and offering transfer balances at 0 percent to everyone with a last name and a roof over their head? Along with mtgs that were bound to turn into bad loans when house prices dropped which they always do after a bubble. God, I could go on and on here but I get tired. The nation is in such trouble. Down the drain? Beware of Obama's plan to 'spread the wealth around'

If the McCain campaign can’t use this Obama quote to raise doubts about his attitude towards wealth and success, then they deserve the shellacking they seem headed for.
“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed “more and more for fulfilling the American dream.”
“It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”
Plumbers of the country, unite! Forget about the work and effort you put into building up a business or the scummy work that you do that many of us don’t know or don’t want to do. If you have succeeded, you should be willing to give up more of what you earn to help those who haven’t had the great good luck that you have had to be a successful plumber. Remember how Obama is going to give 95% of all of us a tax cut even though over 30% of the population doesn’t pay taxes?
He might call it a tax credit, but what he’s really doing is his vision of “spreading the wealth around.” It sounds a lot like Huey Long’s 1935 plan to “Share the Wealth.” And when he finds that he can’t tax the top 5% of the population to gain enough wealth to spread to the 95% of the rest of us, do you really think that he’ll stop with that 5%?
Remember…This is the guy who said in the ABC debate during the primary season that his approach to raising tax on capital gains is not based on whether it would provide more revenue but on his idea of what is fair:
GIBSON: All right. You have, however, said you would favor an increase in the capital gains tax. As a matter of fact, you said on CNBC, and I quote, “I certainly would not go above what existed under Bill Clinton,” which was 28 percent. It’s now 15 percent. That’s almost a doubling, if you went to 28 percent.
But actually, Bill Clinton, in 1997, signed legislation that dropped the capital gains tax to 20 percent.
OBAMA: Right.
GIBSON: And George Bush has taken it down to 15 percent.
OBAMA: Right.
GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down.
So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?
OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.
Just what we need in these fragile economic times — a guy who wants to raise taxes because he thinks it’s a matter of “fairness” and time to “spread the wealth around.”
That will be some incentive for other plumbers who want to work hard and build up a successful business.
But don’t worry - according to Joe Biden, it’s the patriotic thing to do.

That being said, here is link to article from Wall Street Journal about both candidates and outsourcing...Obama is not going to stop it either. He has said on the stump the answer is more highly educated American workers to compete.
It seems to me, and although you may think this is also a "piece," that if you put our corporate tax rates lower, if that corporation is inclined to hire Americans and not outsource then they will do so.
You honestly think the majority of corporations just WANT to outsource and taxes don't matter?

and I don't think Musharraf himself had anything to do with it. That is not to say that radicals within the intelligence services of Pakistan did not have a hand in it. The way it was done, they probably did. With the goal in mind of stopping the elections and causing destabilization...and perhaps a chance to get their hands on nukes, that we all know Pakistan has. Nukes ready to use.
This is a very scary event, folks. Not just for Pakistan...for the world.
Just as an aside....if you really look at what is going on in this country....
Ron Paul is more of a threat than you think. Evangelical Christians want someone pro-life and they are not going to get it with Guiliani...and whether you believe it or not, there are a LOT of them out there. And a lot of young people are looking at Paul, and that is young people on BOTH sides of the political spectrum. And in most all issues, Ron Paul is a strict conservative. And a lot of people out there are VERY sick of tax and spend...even a lot of Democrats...hence the Congress approval rating LESS than Bush's. There is a ground swell going on out there that could very well take over and tsunami the Dem candidate...and if the candidate is Hillary I would be willing to BET it will happen. Your worst nightmare realized. A true conservative in the White House and a Congress to help him turn things around. The purse strings are sure to really tighten (which is what I meant by gravy train about to end...by that I meant the endless tax and spend tax and spend).
Almost makes one giddy thinking about it.
I myself have a couple of real problems with Ron Paul...however...I could get behind him easier than I could Guiliani and so could a LOT of conservatives out there. So....I wouldn't be trashing Ron Paul and hawking that split the vote thing too loud...it could come back to bite you.

If we had done to their country
We would have been in jail. Can you imagine going to a foreign country, standing on a corner until you got a job, sending your kids to school even though they did not speak the language and expecting to be accommodated, buying a house, car, getting a foreign credit card, not paying taxes, sending the money out of the country, and then trying to say you had rights to citizenship? It really boggles my mind when I think about it. And in my neighborhood we just loved and accepted everyone who came and were gracious and generous. I even took Spanish classes so I could speak to my neighbors. Then they left. They lost their jobs and they lost their homes and they left. The whole neighborhood is devastated, the school closed down and the houses are all empty. The really funny thing is to even get a job for awhile in my area, you had to be able to speak Spanish! What can you say, but that is absolutely insane!

So in the midst of an economic crisis that McCain never understood ("the economy is not my strong point"), he figures now is a good time to exploit the recession and collect email addresses and raise campaign money. That's what his Country First PAC is about.
He also laments "...partisanship driving our attempts to turn the economy around..." How can he say this with a straight face? Which party is engaging in partisanship with regards to the stimulus bill? Hint: it ain't Democrats.
And what's McCain's alternative? Payroll tax cuts? That's gonna turn our economy around? Please. The guy offers nothing else except the attitude that if the Democrats want it, it has to be bad. This is from a guy who lost the election in a landslide and was totally out of touch with the vast majority of the American people.
At least if you're gonna sign his petition, do try to find out what's actually in the bill.

Anyway how's this for a subject? - The mayor New Orleans was a Republican before he ran, and switched his party affiliation to Democrat before he was successfully elected. Landreau is a Democrat. The Louisiana governor is a Democrat. Seems we have a lot of democratic leaders in an otherwise supposedly Republican state.
Wonder what effect if any that has had on the slow and disinterested response from the federal govt. in helping the people of New Orleans?

That was a long article, but I think it did highlight the fact that Bush is neither a friendly or a courteous guy - insiders have been saying that for years. Can't use the excuse that he didn't want some antiwar journalist raking him over the coals - that kind of journalist would never have been allowed within the same building as he, if she had that kind of reputation.
It seems clear that the Bushes consider themselves American Royalty and that's unfortunate, because America was born from a resentment of just that kind of above-the-law holier-than-thou don't- speak-until-he-does kind of nonsense.

It was published in some conservative magazine but was unfounded. He never went to school in Africa at all. The magazine said that they got it from the Clinton campaign. I am wondering since when did a conservative publication print anything the Clinton campaign has to say. Anyway, I still think knowing first hand something about Muslims and Islam would be beneficial.
