I think the single most important thing someone in the US can do to educate themselves as far as foreign and even domestic affairs is to read publications from other countries!!  I realize they may have their own slant and I'm not saying the truth is always laid bare....but it's so enlightening to have a global perspective on our country.  Aljazeera, for example.  If any of you have seen "Control Room," the documentary on Aljazeera in Iraq at the beginning of the war --- you realize that the folks that work for the newspaper are very much like the folks that you or I know and you grow to care about them.  You also see the US military from their perspective, and no the military is not demonized.  It's a pretty even-handed documentary. 


Anyway, thanks for your thoughts on global sources for information...it seems that the more we become citizens of the world the better US citizens we can hopefully become.
