Some earlier studies have shown declining availability of abortions.

"Get behind it or stand with the biggest traitors of all".

For every mudball hurled by the right, there should be one hurled back in response. We learned that from the right-wing swiftboating tactics of days gone by. Obama's ads are issues oriented and are aimed at contrasting the differences between the candidates on those issues. McCain has been erratic, impulsive and basically clueless up to this point on the bail out. I see nothing wrong in pointing that out since he was the one who made himself look so stupid. Obama and others had already explored the possibility of buying up bad mortgages during the negotiations for the bailout bill before McCain announced his claim to the idea in the debate.

McCain's ads are character assignations, void of political content. They play on fear and seek to incite anger, generate hatred and ignite cultural wars, plain and simple. Obama's ads deal with issues and facts. There is a difference.

Obama said nothing about not helping homeowers, you did. Before the crisis even emerged, Obama had included plans in his economic policies to protect homeowners. He didn't flip on anything. you are just trying to misconstrue the facts to make it look like he did. This tactic will not win any elections. By the way, Obama is not the only one who thinks that the "bad lenders" should be punished. Before it's over, they should face their day in court.

I am still patiently waiting for you to elighten us all on just how McCain will "fix" the economy.

You have reckoned/assumed the subject to be "You", as in a command when, in fact, the intended subject was "I", meaning "I don't follow links..." My mistake. I was exending the assumption that those who read the post had the intelligence to figure that out. Next time, I will remember that when O haters are in the audience, I have to spell everything out.

Naturally, I think O supporters are perfectly capable of thinking for themselves and free to respond in kind with their own take on the link. They don't need my help to defend their own positions and certainly don't need to be shielded from pitifully impotent propaganda. Wouldn't hold my breath on that, though. Yes, Wal-Mart is good for the economy in NW Arkansas, I'll admit to that but their workers aren't treated anywhere near as well as when Sam was alive.  Most as I understand it get food stamps and Medicaid and Wal-Mart gets all kinds of concessions in order to get them to build stores that most certainly aren't available to small businesses.  They effectively make it near impossible for small businesses to  stay in business.  There's rumors that they're going to build a store in my area and the local grocery store said if that happens they will be out of business.  The reason isn't prices, it's the small guy can't carry all the stuff Wal-Mart carries.  He can and will special order, which he does for me all the time, but most people want everything NOW.

lie, don't they?  Widely reported over, over, over, over, and over again that it was people who got loans who made 14,000 a year who "qualified" for a $750,000 mortgage and when the creative financing (i.e., interest rates went up) went belly up, they couldn't even pay the interest.  Those debtors didn't spend their way to prosperity.


Give me a break.  It is now people who have lost their jobs who were paying their mortgages who can no longer pay their mortgages.  Going to be a lot more, too.

Oh my gosh - the Clinton years were the worst
I have never seen such horrible horrible times as the Clinton years. It was awful, awful, awful. DH and I both worked full time. We both had excellent salaries but we could never get ahead. We didn't live life in the rich lane - a 1 bedroom apartment (no washer dryer) in a hole-in-the-wall complex. A Ford Taurus (so not a fancy car). I don't own any diamonds or furs and my clothes were bought at the local Walmart, Sears or stores like that. No children, no college education to pay off and we had absolutely nothing. Clinton's tax increases raised our taxes so high that we were paying out 38% in taxes and even then at the end of the year we always owed an extra $2000. Everyone kept telling us to buy a house and get all these great "benees". In SF? Right! We couldn't afford to go out to eat never mind buy a house and when we did try to apply for a loan we were turned down. On top of that my family and friends back east were losing their jobs (thank you NAFTA). Family freinds were losing their homes because they lost their jobs and they were starting to live in their cars. My dad took in a couple he knew because they were living in a campground and winter came and it got too cold to stay in their tent. It wasn't until Clinton got out of office that our taxes went down, we were able to save some money, get a better place to live, and go out to eat with family and start to enjoy life a little more. The economy may be bad now, but we're in better shape than we were when Clinton's were in. Now we're terrified we're going to be back into the same exact sitaution. We're certainly not in great shape here, so anything worse would put us in a bad situation but luckily we rent so can move if we have to. But the economy needs a lof of work. We have no health insurance (unless you want to call having a policy that you have to pay 10K/year first before the insurance company will pitch in), DH is out of work and we just take one day at a time. All I know is most everyone I know (family, friends, and acquantances of my family) say they may have thought Clinton to be a good looking guy, but they have been better off financially since he left office.

The headline is even more misleading.

This is a statement of humble reflection from Palin. To translate into terms the media might understand, its "I hope we're doing the right thing."


This story is bad enough that the AP really should issue a correction on it, if not a full retraction. There's no story unless you butcher the quote. It's based on half (or a quarter) of a quote, mentally ignoring the previous and following sentences, and even presenting the trimmed quote as the start of a sentence --forcing them to capitalize a word that actually appeared in the middle of the sentence.
