My take on it

I used to smoke (when cigs were 65 cents a pack - wow, does that date me or what). Anyway...I long since quit. I can't stand smoking, I can't breath around it. Some smokers (not all, only some of them) don't care whether or not you can't breath, they'll still smoke while you're trying to eat. Again - NOT ALL, just some. My mom died horrible horrible painful death of lung cancer. But do I think they should tax cigarettes. NO, most definitely not, at least not like their planning to. I would love to see nothing better than to see cigarette companies go under, but this is not right. What's next? If you have more than one door on your house you'll get taxed. If you walk outside your house more than a certain number of times you'll be taxed. I actually heard that some state is trying to implement a law that you have to report how many miles you drive each week and you'll be taxed on that. And my dad told me about some nutbag senator from CT years and years ago tried imposing a "sex" tax. He actually proposed that people had to report how many times they had sex each week and they were going to tax them. Dad said that right there ended his career and his colleagues laughed him right out of the office. It's gotten to a point where they want to know every single little thing we do and they'll tax everything. Funny how none of this ever affects them (congress, house, senate, president, bankers, wall street, etc). Do you really think Barry will be paying taxes on his cigarettes. No way. Only the other little peons like ourselves. I'm sorry but as much as I am against smoking and cigarettes I do not think they should be doing this tax thing on them. Especially since we all know the money will not be used for what they say it's going to be used for. It will only line the pockets of the rich.
