Stop watching TV or googling, and please pick up a REAL history text without bias, it is not a parti
even I bet George Bush is looking for authors to do so....perhaps he will get out his crayons and try it himself, after he masters "See spot run. See VP Cheney run with his Halliburton $$$$$$$."
You know, at this point he could pick

Jesus Christ to be in his cabinet and you people would find some something to b**ch about that, too.  Good grief!!

Once again...you prove my point.
liberals are NOT about tolerance. There is nothing but INtolerance in your post...you, my friend, are a bigot. Only it is not a race, it is a belief system. "right wing rags" is NOT an example of tolerance of someone else's viewpoint. It is obvious for anyone who would care to, to see. Attack, attack, attack. If you are not like me, go away. I am not interested in another point of view, nor am I interested in debating any points.

You say equality, you say tolerance, you say no bigotry. Yet you do not tolerate opposition, you want to quell dissent, and you discriminate against conservatives.

Which leaves me with the impression that your lofty ideals are just that. Because you do NOT practice them. NOW I understand what the other liberal poster meant when they posted there are no true liberals in the Democratic party. Amen to that, poster, wherever you are!
You prove my point. Thank you. nm

you prove my point so well
Hindsight is 20/20.  If we would not have allowed millions of people to buy houses that could not afford them, we would not be here.  If we would have decided that subprime loans were unstable and that a person should actually be required to be able to pay for what they want and be able to afford what their dream is, we would not be here.  America has adopted the mentality somewhere along the way that equality shouldnt be just about race or religion but about everyone having the right to the same things in life.  People have a false sense of entitlement.  These people that have helped our ecomony fail are the ones who have been living in a manner they should not have been.  This starts with the people who can work but dont.  The people who feed off of the states and have children for a business but do nothing to give back to the economy.  They are takers.  It also goes to the CEOs and the loan officers and the banks and all the big guys who have decided that it was okay to make billions off of the people in our society who are sponges and are willing to take any handout given to them, even if it means failure down the road.  They have made their fortunues based off of greed and lies.  They built us a false ecomony.  So if there are no jobs now and no credit to be had, you can thank them.  Problem is Obama wants to give to the takers and make us pay, the exact people who have done the right things, lived the way they should within their means, and the very working people who build our ecomony.  How is an new, strong economy going to be built off of welfare recipients who have never worked?  What economic stimulation are they going to offer?  It is simply crazy to me and I cannot see how people refuse to see this.
You continue to prove my point. (nm)

You continue to prove my point.

I guess we're going to have another 9/11 to prove our point
because your little mind doesn't even remember the first one. You guys need to give it up, because your lilly livered thought processes are losing. Nobody wants you all in charge that's why you keep LOSING ELECTIONS...that's because if you were in charge you would be hugging Muslim terrorists and telling them it's okay and that you understand them.

You can argue semantics of bills all day, but it doesn't make the fact of the dying liberal theology any less of a reality.
Just to prove my point, from Crooks and Liars website. sm
Joe Scarborough: Republicans want him to SHUT UP

On Joe's show tonight, he went off on Republicans that do not like him speaking out against this administration's handling of Katrina.

Joe: I'm getting lectured from Republicans in Oregon, California, upstate New York, Arizona telling me I need to back off the President, I need to back off of FEMA, I need to back off these state leaders. You and I are on the Gulf Coast- we know how these things are supposed to be run. This has nothing to do with politics...

                                Video-WMP

                                Video-QT

The Republicans are obviously worried that this Republican talk show host's point of view isn't following their talking points and is a real problem because he's not a Democrat saying them. Joe has been honest before (Schiavo not included) and is simply exposing their ineptitude that so many people are feeling right now.

Gee, it's funny how you guys can go to page 11 to prove a point or hurl accusations.

The debate, actually several of them were with Lurker and are probably on page 2 or 3.  The person you speak of whom you saw was not debating, she was trolling and causing trouble. THAT isn't debate, but maybe we have just solved the problem.  You think it is debate.  Well there you go!

And my politics and faith are hand in hand. Plus I'm just answering her question.

The 2 issues you describe usually go hand-in-hand.
keep women out of power. The old 'barefoot-and-pregnant' story. As a feminist, I wouldn't vote for a candidate who was against EITHER issue. Being pro-choice has nothing to do with hating babies, etc. Pro-choice has to do with keeping a very personal, private choice just that: Personal & Private, between a woman and her doctor, and no-one else. If a woman hasn't any power over her OWN reproductive system, and whether or not the time is right (if ever) to bear a child, she certainly isn't going to be given much else to be in charge of, either.

The only reason this issue EVER became a hotbed political issue is that the religious fanatics in this country, who have been trying to control the reins of government, picked an issue that was certain to divide people. They took this choice out of the doctor's office and put it in the public eye so that the country could be divided, and in that way 'conquered'. Have to hand it to 'em, some of the campaign tactics, as repugnant as they are, have been pretty slick. Shows they've got some pretty fancy lawyers. The terrorist tactics (threatening, and even sometimes killing) docs who perform TABs; harrassing women entering family-planning clinics; and chasing some family planning clinics out of some towns.

There used to be a clinic a few blocks from my home, and every Friday this looney-tune and his whacked-out buddies would block park a truck with pictures of fetuses on it, and would block an entire sidewalk with their signs, fake babies (dolls), themselves, etc. I guess they think they're scaring people with their pictures & signs, but it only serves to infuriate them. In large part, the attempts to overthrow Roe vs Wade by the religious lunatics of the world is one of the main reasons I stopped voting Republican after Ronald Reagan, and voted Democratic instead.

And then of course there is the issue of our jobs. When that all started going down the toilet (or shall I say - to the Third World) I realized the 'trickle-down effect' I'd been led to believe when I was a Republican in the past was a lie. It doesn't trickle DOWN, the money only gushes UP -- to the ones who already have the most of it.
politics and religion go hand in hand...
Whether or not we like it, many of our laws are governed by religion. Without some sort of religion, who is to say that murder is "wrong," thus making it a religious argument, not a political one (by your methodology) and, yet, we still have a law against it.

I have seen some bullying get out of hand first hand
during the same grocery strikes that I referred to in the very small town where I grew up. Scabs were beat up and such. I am not saying it's the norm, but there can be tremendous pressure to vote one way or another--as can be seen right here.
Don't buy it. All the surrounding text mitigates

Who to pick?

I truly do not like either McCain or Obama.  I don't want to NOT vote.  I don't want to stay in the same course we are in.....which counts McCain out.  But I don't want to vote for change just for the sake of change.  If it were a change I could believe in and have faith....okay....but I don't and so that counts Obama out.  So now what?

VP pick
I don't know anything about her really, but I was just telling my husband last night that the only way McCain is going to be able to keep this race competitive at all would be to pick a pro-life woman. I didn't think he would really and my husband couldn't think of any (and he's a repub). As a Democrat I of course would have loved it if McCain would have picked Lieberman to demoralize the base or Huckabee to demoralize the independents, but ah well. It's a smart pick, I have to say.
I'd pick you to mod if I had the say
just to prove that it wouldn't matter who was moderating to me.  I'm confident in my party, how 'bout you?
Take your pick from above.........
xx
where is my pick my up?
I pay and pay and I never get any pick me up. Since you would much rather pay for it, go ahead, pay for it. Don't ask me to pay, though, because I would much rather not. I think I paid enuff all ready.
I know he has nothing to prove to you....
but to the 48% of us who don't trust him, he does. I will believe it when I see it. There is nothing in his past to indicate he wants to wipe out party lines, unless that means bring us ALL into HIS light. His entire career has been hard left towing the party line. His votes have all been hard left toeing the party line. And now he wants us to believe that all disappears? He has undergone some miraculous change himself? I would feel better if he used the word "compromise" as much as he used the word "unite." All "unite" means to me is that he wants everyone to come to his side. His entire agenda is diametrically opposed to most of what I believe in. How is he going to "unite" people like him and people like me if he doesn't compromise?

Like I said...I am waiting to see what he does. He said himself he had to earn my trust. So far he is not doing so well. That could "change." Only time will tell.

BTW, this is not an attack. It is just my open and honest concerns about the POTUS. Concerns about any POTUS. I would have held McCain's feet to the fire too. He was certainly not my ideal candidate...but he beat the alternative. Now that the alternative has won...he has to prove himself to me and 48% of the country.
prove it.
Where is your proof that satan does not exist?  Where is your proof that the Bible is a fairytale?  Where is  your proof that Jesus doesnt exist?  Until you can show me some proof, this is just your opinion and doesnt really mean much or hold any water.
You would have to prove a ............. sm
genetic predisposition for this to be logical. Even if you did prove such a theory, the fact that a person has a particular gene does not necessarily mean that that gene will develop into a behavior.

Prove it
Yes he had to use Air Force 1 I think he and the Secret Service would look a little conspicuous on Continental, don't you? But he paid for everything else himself.

This is such a small, petty argument, I can't even believe you people are talking about it. Oh wait...yes I can....
Prove it
I have not seen one bit of proof that it was taxpayer money. Only Air Force 1 was a government expense and that could not be helped.

Where is your proof?
Ever notice that

the higher gasoline/oil prices get and the harder it becomes to be able to AFFORD to be an American, the angrier they become and the more they troll?

Poor babies.  They can't focus their anger and rage at Bush because then they'd have to admit that they voted for an idiot, and, just like Bush, there's no way they can ever admit they're wrong.  So they have to come here and attack us instead.

I think the more the Republican party falls apart, the more difficulty they have affording even the most basic of necessities, the more bitter, angry, hateful trolling is likely to be inflicted upon us.

Anyone else but me notice?
Did any of you notice that 3 months ago, there were far more posts on the conservative board, and now there are more on the liberal board.  Could this mean more people are starting to doubt this administration, or just trolling?  Just an observation. Personally I think it is the former rather than the latter.
Did ya notice?

The answer wasn't that your vote should count FAIRLY.

The answer was that you should just LEAVE the red state instead.

Notice
Doocy sitting on the plush couch in his 3-piece suit trashing Americans who are in the middle of a war zone. It's beyond me. I don't get it.

So what if they were complaining? What's his biggest complaint, the coffee's not fresh enough.
Of Course We Notice...

The "drive-bys" are so incredibly in the tank with Baroma!  The lovefest has been far more nauseating than it ever was with Clinton.

How sad it is that McCain (who frustrates the krud out of me often times) is supposed to "hide" the fact that he was tortuored by those who wanted to destroy us for five LONG years?  The enemy has changed, but their hatred of America has only worsened.

It's very likely that if Baroma wins that he'll be the first to be tested (like W was on 9/11).  It could also certainly happen to McCain, but it's quite safe to say how he'd handle another 9/11 type situation.  Sadly, this should give everyone a jolt:  "Karachi Kids."

We will never forget...

Notice how he got rid of the GM

CEO first.  Obama, like most democrats, are all about unions.  I do believe Obama still wants to give unions more control by getting rid of secret ballots, etc.  The only reason Obama threw the UAW under the bus was because there was really no other option.  Intelligent people know that UAW killed GM and we also know that Obama would stand behind them until there was no hope because so many democrats get campaign money from unions.  He wouldn't stab them in the back unless he had no other choice.  There is no just no other option for GM.  They need to file bankruptcy and restructure things.

My father worked for GM for 30+ years as a salvage worker.  He always said that the union did nothing but protect p!ss poor employees from getting fired.  They paid all that money into union dues and they never got anything out of it.  Unions are nothing but greed and corruption and all they do is push democratic rhetoric while using the money they receive to back democrats in their campaigns.

Anybody but me notice that

the Obama's new dog, Bo, would fit right into the 1964 Shirley Ellis song The Name Game?

Obama, Bama bo-bama

Banana-fana fo-bama

Obama!

I may need an intervention.  Somebody come lock up my caffeine.

Did you notice that you are...
one of the "THREE" responders and not one of the "us" who ignores his posts?
Did you ever notice...
... that a lot of the same people who are screaming nowadays that gays MUST be allowed to marry, because not allowing it tramples on their rights, are the same people who 20 or 30 years ago were screaming that there was no need to get married, because it was just a meaningless piece of paper....

Not passing judgment on the validity of either argument; just making an observation. I find it rather fascinating myself.
All I really notice is that she goes out of her way
to try to get people to argue with her, and the majority of her posts are out of left field and barely intelligible.
Don't we pick and choose

Don't we pick which Bible adages we follow?  The Bible also says turn the other cheek, love thy neighbor as thyself, do unto others....yet many Christians in various venues (including these boards) chide others for being advocates of peace, tolerance and love for all citizens of the world.

The Bible has contradictions, it was written by men, after all and seems incredibly subject to interpretation.

He should pick Hillary
They are two peas in a pod. It was evidenced by his speech tonight he thinks she such a great person. I could just feel the love he has for her. Seriously...they voted alike on almost everything. I think his speach tonight was more of him trying to pull her votes away from Barack to vote for him.
that should be "who" is your pick... duh (nm)
x
Well said. If we could only pick and choose who to help..
someone as yourself would be on top of my list!
You can't pick and choose WHEN you
want majority rule to count. The people have spoken, they don't want it, try again next time.
He wasn't my first pick....(sm)

However, we are now at a point where time is the word of the day.  Here's my problem with the situation.  If he's so terrible, why are they voting him in?  That applies to dems and pubs, as both sides have expressed concern.  So, we know they're going to vote him in, so what's the point in all the delays?  I think at this point it's just political grandstanding by the pubs.  They did the same thing with Hillary.  The guy that held that one up actually voted for her, and said he was going to vote for her, but still delayed the process.

For that matter, check out the attorney general position.  What's the problem with Holder?  On this one the pubs want to *question* him more about torture.  Exactly what do the pubs want to hear?  Maybe *torture is wrong, but we won't prosecute?*  More pollitical grandstanding.

May we pick which finger??
