Obama wants to give small businesses tax relief not...sm

raise their taxes. He wants taxes raised on large corporations who are making record profits, paying their executives millions in salaries and perks per year. Also you will find that most companies offshore to countries where they pay pennies on the dollar to workers rather than pay Americans a living wage. These countries are happy not to charge them high taxes because those few pennies feed their people.

Obama wants to grow small businesses

I can stick my head in the sand and pretend I don't know what this garbage is all about but anyone with half a brain would know you can't grow a business when you continue to pay pay pay through the nose AND give it to someone who has no motivation to do crap with their life.

Maybe if small businesses like MT companies

receive a tax credit as a reward/incentive to keep jobs INSIDE the USA, that policy will help American MTs.

That's Obama's policy.

No, mine doesn't, but many small businesses...
including mid range transcription business who operate as S corporations, the entire income from their business is in that bracket and taxed as personal income. It is going to hit small businesses extremely hard. And I don't think it is fair that they have to pick up the tab to pay for tax CUTS for people who are already in the lowest bracket. I don't think that's right, I don't think that is fair, and it will result in businesses closing or laying off workers. So tell me what pray tell does that accomplish?
With the stimulus package there are built in tax credits for small businesses and SBA...sm
I have worked in retail as an assistant buyer and see their profit margins...and I know there are many legit, honest, mom and pop stores, but they usually make up for it by hiring school kids for slave wages and also family members. I am talking about across the board, in factories, retail, hospitalitiy, techno, every sector, these workers would all be paying more EACH WEEK into the the tax stucture in this country, strengtheing our reserves, becomeing consumers themselves because they can finally afford something....I feel like I dropped from another planet here, or industry in MT is not the norm by far.
What dribble and so uninformed, he isn't taking money from small businesses, geez.
Common sense should tell you he is not saying he is taking the money from small business to give to the the middle class.

he is saying he wants to tax fairly the wealthy (businesses over 250,000) and probably take some of the loop holes away. Lower the middle class taxes (if there is one anymore) so we can breathe. Former statesmen have said it is dangerous to put all the money in so few hands, it develops corruption. Don't just read the headlines, read between, on top, in depth, etc. McCain jumped on that statement to win votes. He is wealthy, what makes you think he understands you? The reason our jobs are going overseas is the present adminstration has given all these corporations tax breaks to do so - saying it builds global democracy - it didn't work, it just made the corporations richer). i don't care who you vote for but Ms. Piggy would be better than McCain and dum, DE dum dum.

Yet we get on this board and moan and whine about not getting paid enough and companies are spening millions buying other transcription companies over our backs you think taxing them fairly is socialism.

I am through with this board, it is sad so many want 4 more years of the same. Keep working for pennies while benefits are taken from you, lines per are decreased. Do you think getting less for voice is fair when it takes almost the same amount of time to do it and make half? Do you think the company is taking that much of a hit? Yet they are forcing it so it most be a benefit to them. They are laughing all the way to the bank while you eat the feathers.
Obama will CAUSE more businesses to go
nm
Then Obama better give himself

LOL. There will never be relief from them.
They're like crabgrass.
Well, that's a relief!!!!

For sure...all your sources are completely on the up and up these days.  You are growing as a person!!!!!   I guess all that nagging from "the same poster using all sorts of different monikers" has finally sunk in!!!

Aw come on, can't I do any Bush-bashing?  Why not?  More like I'm below that kind of behavior rather than above.....

BTW, what about where Obama said he'd give IC tax rebates

Biloxi Newspaper Rips Relief Effort, Begs for Help

By Greg Mitchell

Published: August 31, 2005 10:15 PM ET

NEW YORK The Sun Herald of Biloxi, Miss., in an editorial today, criticized the relief effort in its ravaged area so far, and told officials and the nation-at-large: South Mississippi needs your help.

It angrily revealed: While the flow of information is frustratingly difficult, our reporters have yet to find evidence of a coordinated approach to relieve pain and hunger or to secure property and maintain order. People are hurting and people are being vandalized.

Yet where is the National Guard, why hasn't every able-bodied member of the armed forces in South Mississippi been pressed into service?

Pointedly, it declared that earlier today, reporters listening to horrific stories of death and survival at the Biloxi Junior High School shelter looked north across Irish Hill Road and saw Air Force personnel playing basketball and performing calisthenics.

It added: We need the president to back up his declaration of a disaster with a declaration of every man and woman under his command will do whatever is necessary to deal with that disaster.

The newspaper has managed to publish two print editions this week as well as keep its Web site updated.

Here is the text of the editorial.

*

The coastal communities of South Mississippi are desperately in need of an unprecedented relief effort.
We understand that New Orleans also was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, but surely this nation has the resources to rescue both that metropolitan and ours.

Whatever plans that were in place to deal with such a natural disaster have proven inadequate. Perhaps destruction on this scale could not have been adequately prepared for.

But now that it has taken place, no effort should be spared to mitigate the hurricane's impact.

The essentials -- ice, gasoline, medicine -- simply are not getting here fast enough.

We are not calling on the nation and the state to make life more comfortable in South Mississippi, we are calling on the nation and the state to make life here possible.

We would bolster our argument with the number of Katrina casualties confirmed thus far, but if there is such a confirmed number, no one is releasing it to the public. This lack of faith in the publics' ability to handle the truth is not sparing anyone's feelings, it is instead fueling terrifying rumors.

While the flow of information is frustratingly difficult, our reporters have yet to find evidence of a coordinated approach to relieve pain and hunger or to secure property and maintain order.

People are hurting and people are being vandalized.

Yet where is the National Guard, why hasn't every able-bodied member of the armed forces in South Mississippi been pressed into service?

On Wednesday reporters listening to horrific stories of death and survival at the Biloxi Junior High School shelter looked north across Irish Hill Road and saw Air Force personnel playing basketball and performing calisthenics.

Playing basketball and performing calisthenics!

When asked why these young men were not being used to help in the recovery effort, our reporters were told that it would be pointless to send military personnel down to the beach to pick up debris.

Litter is the least of our problems. We need the president to back up his declaration of a disaster with a declaration of every man and woman under his command will do whatever is necessary to deal with that disaster.

We need the governor to provide whatever assistance is at his command.

We certainly need our own county and city officials to come together and identify the most pressing needs of their constituents and then allocate resources to meet those needs. We appreciate the stress that theses elected and appointed officials have been under since the weekend but they must do a better job restoring public confidence in their ability to meet this challenge.

Attitudes like this give Obama more appeal.

Give me a break! It is okay if it was Bush, but not okay for Obama!
Guess it will never be okay to make fun of the chosen one.

The 'it' factor: Let's give Obama a change, at least...

Okay, my friends, how 'bout a little Friday comic relief?
Probably already heard/read these, but here we go:

Only in America. Even though he stole 2.4 million he has agreed to pay back 1.8 million to make it right. So let that be a lesson to all you other congressmen out there. If you get caught stealing you may have to pay back a small fraction of what you took ... Don't you love how our system works? So if you're poor and you steal a loaf of bread it's a $200 fine, if you're a congressman who steals $2.4 million you get to keep a 25% bonus. --Jay Leno

Former head of FEMA Michael Brown has opened up his own private disaster agency. That's like Robert Blake opening up a marriage counselling facility. —David Letterman

A hunk of marble fell from the front of the Supreme Court building, a big hunk of marble. I believe it was the biggest thud at the Supreme Court since Harriet Miers —David Letterman

California Congressman Duke Cunningham resigned from office after admitting he broke the law by taking $2.4 million dollars in bribes. It's kind of ironic. The only time you can really be sure that a politician is telling the truth is when he's admitting that he's a crook. —Jay Leno

In his speech President Bush said we need to rebuild Iraq, provide the people with jobs, and give them hope. If it works there maybe we'll try it in New Orleans. —Jay Leno

From David Letterman:

Top 10 New President Bush Strategies For Victory in Iraq
10. Make an even larger 'Mission Accomplished' sign
9. Encourage Iraqis to settle their feud like Dave and Oprah
8. Put that go-getter Michael Brown in charge
7. Launch slogan, 'It's not Iraq, it's Weraq'
6. Just do whatever he did when he captured Osama
5. A little more vacation time at the ranch to clear his head
4. Pack on a quick 30 pounds and trade places with Jeb
3. Wait, you mean it ain't going well?
2. Boost morale by doing his hilarious 'Locked Door' gag
1. Place Saddam back in power and tell him, 'It's your problem now, dude'
When Obama said we can't give up our ideals for safety... they showed Bush's embarrassed face
His lame patriot act was being referred to.
Those "small" businesses are the mom and pop...
type who don't have many employees. The small businesses who will be hurt by Obama's plan employ 25-100 people. More taxes on them, more capital gains taxes, they will downsize or close and stop investing because they can't afford it. There are thousands of those kinds of businesses across this country and they employ a significant number of people. It is not just the business owners who suffer....it is the people they employ.
We are not a nation of businesses.
nm
Big businesses........well they wouldn't have to
if we'd stop taxing the crap out of them. This country taxes the crap out of businesses at an alarming rate, when they can go to places like Ireland and have an 11% tax rate. They go to other countries where they don't have to pay those ridiculous taxes. That's the entire problem here. MORE TAXES! Those companies that do stay here, in order to cover their HIGH TAXES, charge you more to cover it for them. That's the point some of us have been trying to make. Obama wants to raise their taxes and I can guarantee you those that are still here will be gone in a flash. YOu get stuck on this big business hiring cheap labor. Well, they would be hiring you if your government would stop taxing the crap out of them.

That's what McCain has said during this entire campaign. STOP TAXING THE CRAP OUT OF THEM and stop running them off and we'll have more jobs brought back here. OBama says TAX TAX TAX them some more and they'll help pay for all of us. BULL!!! Those corporations won't pay him taxes. They up the cost of products and we pay it for them. Obama knows that. This man is a crook through and through....believe what you want. You darn right businesses want huge tax breaks? Wouldn't you? Oh well, maybe not. After all, O lovers love more taxes.

If you're so worried about the little guy who pays too much for his goods, then why not ask Obama why he wants to raise taxes on those very businesses who will turn right around and put them off on you, making everything you buy even higher!

And since you're so down on the big businesses, though I'm not sure what you call big business, who do you think hires everyone else? Poor people? You won't have to worry about the unemployment rate if O gets in there. He'll have taxed and mandated them right out of business and out of this country. The businesses that WILL be hurt are the very businesses you count on day to day and you don't even know who they are. I do. My husband works for one of them. They don't have a big name but they are the very reason you have your grocery store shelves with food on them and many other products. People that think like you don't have a clue all the businesses you use every day that are NOT rich, but they help sustain the very community you live in. They can employ anywhere from 10-200 people and believe me, that is NOT a RICH business but Obama will tax the businesses right out of business. They cannot afford all those mandates and garbage policies he wants to throw in there.

The florist in your town. Well, they're gonna close. They would fall into that MEAN RICH BUNCH all of you hate so much, as well as so many other companies you depend on every day. You've just got your mind so focused on the hugely large corporations, you can't see past that.

Well, when your town starts laying off hundreds at a time from all those businesses you thought you detested but then realize too late those aren't the ones you were thinking about, maybe you'll see it differently then.

Everyone is so focused on all the Wall Street crowd, they have failed to realize that crowd won't be hurting at all. You will and all those businesses that keep you and your community alive and well.

This is the fault of dems and republicans alike, not just one side.

You want to talk shafted, just wait till your local A/C guy can't even run his business because Obama has deemed him "RICH".

Right, Sam! If businesses are taxed more, they are
nm
Dont you get it?! Businesses WILL go overseas
nm
Oh, and BTW, $250K is not wealthy businesses

They're middle of the road, just making it businesses. They don't employ 3000 people like big business and they will be hurt the most. Big business will pass the tax increase onto the taxpayers. They'll be able to find loopholes with their 30+ laywers (exageration) who are paid to do that.

Wake up and take the blinders off!

The big green businesses are already overseas.......

A government that taxes businesses into the ground...
is a main cause of offshoring. It costs more in taxes to do business in America than any other country in the world save one. And Obama wants to tax them even more, even the small business owners of the S corporation type. In order to fund a cut in tax for the people already in the lowest bracket who pay the lowest amount anyway. Thereby causing more small businesses to fail or cut back on staffing...causing more job loss instead of job creation. Sorry...that makes no sense to me.
Capitalism is when private owners run businesses

I have to take a small exception....
I understand why there was no half staff declaration for Katrina victims and there was for VA Tech. There is a difference in a natural disaster, where loss of life is expected to some degree (not condoned, not accepted, but expected) and a crazy going nuts and murdering 32 people in a heinous horrible bloodbath. I can see why the half-staff for VTech. There has never, as far as I have known, been half-staff for victims of natural disaster, and Hurricane Andrew killed many as well. Although there was no paper half-staff declaration, I did hear personally on many occasions President Bush use some of the same words in talking about the Katrina victims...and he did declare a national day of remembrance for the Katrina victims, which he did not do for the VA Tech victims.
Small and slanted...?
I saw the video. How can a video be small and slanted? It was broadcast on several channels though certainly not CNN. How can that be slanted? A video is what it is. The country producing it did not dispute it, France and Germany did not dispute it. Please tell me how that can be slanted. It is also a fact that they found the intact 747 in the Iraqi desert. That WAS reported on CNN. How can that be slanted? It was there. What possible other purpose could it have to be there? I can see you ignoring a video of two men, but a 747???

You are wrong about the unrest...most of the unrest in Iraq is foreign fighters. If you would watch one of the small and slanted reports as you call them, if only occasionally, you might actually get the BIG picture you keep referring me to. Several of the sectarian fighters have now turned on the foreign fighters instead of each other. Hopefully more of that will occur.

I suppose it will be easy enough for you, if we pull out of Iraq now, to just let the Sunnis and Shias have at it and take all the innocents who just want to work and live with them, aka Viet Nam. For whatever reason, whether you agree with it or not, we are there and the situation is what it is. We can turn tail and run like we did in Viet Nam, or we can finish it.

As to facts to form theories...your facts and theories are no stronger than mine. And again I say...it should not be a far right, a right, a liberal or a far left thing. It should be an American thing. I am an American first. I don't give a good gosh darn about politics. I do give a good gosh darn about this country and keeping it safe for all of us, no matter what direction we lean in. Would that we all felt that way.

President Bush flew OVER the Katrina victims.

small business
Me and DH own a small recreation business, and quite frankly, a few years ago, when the gas prices started getting out of control is when our business started hurting. We are taxed individually, not as a corporation, so I don't see anything in O's tax plan that would hurt us. Maybe help us a bit. Most small business owners aren't making a large fortune, those are the big corporations who have so many dam@ loopholes anyway!
Just like you buy his very small relationship with

Just one small question?
What about your tax dollars going to support ILLEGAL aliens?  You okay with that?    My husband and I paid a little over $15,000 last year in taxes, 85% of our Social Security benefits were taxed because of our other income. I would hardly consider us freeloaders and I wouldn't mind a little tax cut myself.    Get real, none of us are going to get a tax cut and all of working (and retired) AMERICAN taxes are going to go up.  Thank your Republicans as well as the Democrats.  They all put us another $750 billion and counting in debt.  Somebody is going to have to pay it or you can start worrying about communism when China forcloses on their loans!!!!!!  You people need to take the shades off your eyes.
How about Rev. Otis Small
from Trinity Church (Rev Wright's former church). Obama says he is the wisest man he knows. Oh my gosh, this is beyond scary! Whatup indeed!!!
small message
It's easy to be gracious and appear to reach out to the other side - when you are the winner! I only fear what the OBama masses would have done if their candidate had lost .. a lot more than booing during the concession speech I fear.

I do agree on the republican party comments, however.

But I also think there were a lot of uneducated people who really thought through WHAT OBama said and consider how and when he was actually going to do any them, and even further, exactly how they will be paid for?

oh well. I will support him - he is our new president .. and will also do a lot of praying for our government ..

Small message ..
I will be fair..

I am patriotic ..

I (so far)am guaranteed freedom of speech and the freedom to have ideas of my own ...

I will not sit back and act like he is My Lord and Savior and I should worship his feet or the ground he walks on.

I will give him a chance .. truly

Just my 2 cents.
Small, harmless example
From a journalist, not an opinion personality:

Neil Cavuto:

– We do not pick and choose these rallies and protests. We were there for the Million Man March, even though, as I pointed out, it turned out to be well shy of a million men. [Fox Business, 4/11/09]

and

– You seem to pick and choose what events and protests were worthy. Million Man March, worthy, even though it wasn’t a million men, it was half a million. We covered that because we thought it had a worthy message too. [Fox News, 4/8/09]

Fox News could not possibly have covered the Million Man March.

A couple of small things...
Intolerance is not something I associate with being liberal. Perhaps I need to adjust my thinking.

My compassion extends to all those hurting and in need, just like yours does. However, as you well know and seem so jaded by, one person cannot focus on every area, every part of humanity, every issue. You must choose your issue and throw all your energy into it. I would say that the anti-war arena is pretty well covered, wouldn't you? The anti-abortion arena, however, is not. And that is where I am moved to place my focus. Because there are people affected by war who CAN speak for themselves. They DO have the ability to at least try and protect themselves. Unborn children do not have that luxury. They are totally at the mercy of others, and if you want to talk about a horrendous way to die...there is no more horrendous way to die than being aborted. In a way, it is the ultimate betrayal if someone does not defend the most vulnerable among us. That is why I chose that issue and that is why I will speak out against it with my last breath.

You call me supercilious, yet post something like the nature of conservatism to have lack of empathy? A rather broad brush stroke I would say. How you can criticize something else for having no empathy and turn your back on the unborn...there is NO balance in that to see.

There is no spin, piglet. The facts are obvious. You have chosen to exclude the most needy and vulnerable and even go to the extreme of being highly critical of me for doing so. No spin there.

It is obvious you call things the way you perceive them, and have intolerance for any who do not agree with your perception. Again, that is not a trait I associate with liberals. And again..perhaps I need to adjust my thinking.

No one is asking you to apologize, piglet. These last few posts...amazing. If it were aimed AT liberals I would swear it WAS Ann Coulter. Especially the "I call things the way I perceive them, I don't sugar coat it and I won't apologize for it." VINTAGE Ann Coulter. :-)
She is what small-town America is all about
Loved the speech, love the candidate!!!
