of course, do you not take all the tax credits you can?
x
tax credits -
Okay, I see it -
the mortgage credit clearly says it will provide an average of $500 to THOSE WHO DO NOT ITEMIZE. People who itemize already get to count that. If you own a house and have a mortgage, clearly you are working.

School tax credit - Clearly, if it is a SCHOOL credit, then you have to be going to college and in 4 years or less you will be gainfully employed at a salary that will make you PAY TAXES - Sounds like a good investment to me...

and the make work pay - well you have to be working to get it and the people who will qualify for that already get the EIC anyway, so it is not going to make a difference...
With all the incentives, tax credits, encouragement and
proposed in Obama's plan, it is not likely that he will be fining them out of business over health care insurance. You do raise an interesting question, though, and I would be curious about that myself.
Bringing the refundable tax credits to the top,,,

Took some looking, but found it.

o A $1,000 “Making Work Pay” Tax Credit. For 95 percent of workers and their families—150 million
workers overall—the “Making Work Pay” credit will provide a refundable tax cut of $500 for workers or
$1,000 for working couples. This credit will benefit over 15 million self employed workers and for 10
million low-income Americans, will completely eliminate their federal income taxes.
o A Refundable $4,000 American Opportunity Tax Credit. Barack Obama will provide a $4,000 fully refundable
tax credit to ensure that college is affordable for all American families. This credit will cover
100% of the first $4,000 of qualified tuition expenses, making community college essentially free and
covering about 2/3 of the cost of public 4-year college.iv
o A Universal 10% Mortgage Interest Tax Credit. Barack Obama will provide a 10% refundable credit to
offset mortgage interest payments and make homeownership more affordable for lower- and middle-income
families. This universal credit will provide an average tax cut of $500 to 10 million homeowners who do not itemize.

I see refundable in there a few times. And there you have the low income folks who will, with the help of this "credit," ELIMINATE their federal taxes. Who is going to take up that slack?

With the stimulus package there are built in tax credits for small businesses and SBA...sm
I have worked in retail as an assistant buyer and see their profit margins...and I know there are many legit, honest, mom and pop stores, but they usually make up for it by hiring school kids for slave wages and also family members. I am talking about across the board, in factories, retail, hospitalitiy, techno, every sector, these workers would all be paying more EACH WEEK into the the tax stucture in this country, strengtheing our reserves, becomeing consumers themselves because they can finally afford something....I feel like I dropped from another planet here, or industry in MT is not the norm by far.
I don't believe he broke any laws
You believe that he did. We're at an impasse. I don't hate America I put America first before the rest of the world, but I guess I'm just selfish enough to take care of my home first. I'm a baaaad person I guess.
When the Levees Broke...sm
In anniversary of Hurricane Katrina August 29, 2005 Spike has put together a documentary When the Levees Broke. I saw this this morning and I am sickened with shame on how the feds handled it. Don't get me wrong, I was mad before but now multiply that x 10 and that's where I'm at.

Aside from Barbara Bush's snide remarks, the most taletell sign of incompasionate incompetence was first Blanco inability to negotiate federal assistance when Bush strode into town 5 days later. And last but definitely not least, Bush's unwillingness to act as Commander in Chief and take control of the situation.

Can you believe that even as people were drowning in their attics, Bush and Blanco were having a disagreement over state rights???

:-(
I went to the NPR site, who broke this story...
all they say is some information was added that made it "more favorable." They do not say that any of the information added was untrue, and they do not say any derogatory information was taken off. This blog indicates they know it was a McCain supporter. NPR says no one knows who did it, and because of the way the editing accounts are structured, no one will ever know it. What matters is that none of the information added was incorrect, and nothing was removed, according to NPR, which while they are left leaning, I would trust them more than a blog.

We are broke now in an economic meltdown and
post-911 mindset. There is only one way out for those who look forward to what lays beyond that quagmire. I'll give you a hint. It does not involve a right turn.
Well, apparently Fox broke the story.

Whether it's a lie or not, who knows?  Frankly, I don't care.  She lost.  Period.  It's over.

However, regarding Chris Matthews, and in the spirit of trying to be objective here, I watched his show tonight.  He interviewed Governor Pawlenty, asked him a number of rather leading questions to which my understanding of the Governor's answers were rather noncommittal, and at the end, Matthews said, "Well, okay..." you said this, and this and this... (can't remember the exact words), and Pawlenty made a comment about Matthews' poor editing skills if that was what Matthews got from Pawlenty's statements.

I was sitting here, kind of shaking my head and wondering what's happening to Chris Matthews, because his assessment of Pawlenty's words sure didn't match what I heard the Governor say.

I don't believe I've seen Chris this "frazzled" for a long time.  Maybe he needs a vacation or something, but I didn't care for what I saw tonight.

into a full fledged civil war.  With everything that's going on over there right now, that would be a huge mess.  However, this may be the only way for Iranian people to break out of it.  I think those who would revolt would definitely get a lot of backing though.  I just don't know how much the US could do to back them considering how our resources are so thin right now.
YOU BROKE THE TRUCE, YOU FRIGGING MORON!

In case you're not aware, you are on the LIBERAL BOARD.  How can she blow a truce if she is on the LIBERAL BOARD, not visiting the conservative board, but YOU REFUSE TO LEAVE THE LIBERAL BOARD?  YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS BREAKING THE TRUCE, YOU IDIOT.

As far as being respectful, you simply don't know the meaning of the word.

Hillary is broke, had to loan herself 5 million.sm
LOL. Maybe she will use her money and Bill's speaking engagement fees to pay for our new Universal Healthcare Program.

Clinton loaned her campaign $5 million

Senator Hillary Clinton confirmed at a press conference in Virginia this afternoon that she'd loaned her campaign $5 million, and said, "The results last night proved the wisdom of my investment.."

Spokesman Howard Wolfson emailed with the news minutes earlier:

Late last month Senator Clinton loaned her campaign $5 million. The loan illustrates Sen. Clinton’s commitment to this effort and to ensuring that our campaign has the resources it needs to compete and win across this nation. We have had one of our best fundraising efforts ever on the web today and our Super Tuesday victories will only help in bringing more support for her candidacy.

As I reported earlier, she's drawing on a pool of personal wealth estimated to be as much as $41 million, as well as a reported payout to Bill Clinton of $20 million from the Los Angeles billionaire manager Ron Burkle.

Clinton told reporters that her fundraising was healthy, but that "my opponent was able to raise more money, and we intended to be competitive, and we were."

Clinton also emailed supporters today with an ambitious online fundraising goal: to, over the course of three days, "raise $3 million to fund our history-making campaign."

Give peace a chance cuz we are broke now.
McCain graduated 5th from the last in a class of nearly 900 from the Naval Academy. He crashed 4 times before being shot down after being in the air for 20 hours. They accepted him for the family's legacy. He was obviously unqualified to be a Navy pilot.

And Sarah, pretty as she is (the news net works have her picture all over my screen as if she is a super model), would be a nightmare of a VP - and it has nothing to do with her stand on reproductive rights.

Did you watch 60 min?

*I don't like Michael Moore.* Well, I can't imagine why. If you really aren't reading him, then you should be suing him, because your material is the same, right down to the disdainful delivery. Mind cluing me in on the nonpartisan more scholarly research? One or two examples would suffice.

The police are not buying it either. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and the Republicans are beyond desperate at this point!
well, 43% are out buying ammo and
43% are going over their past emails and organization memberships and the other 14% are undecided which way to go and are sitting here handwringing.
Oh pleeeese - I'm not buying it
This is about people obeying the laws...plain and simple. I sick to death of hearing these people talk about how your being "picked on".

Any group/congregation who hold regularly schedule meetings of a large group of people need to get a business license just like anyone else.

What's even more pitiful are the delusional/dysfunctional ones who actually believe they are being picked on simply because they are christians.

Get a grip! Nobody cares what religion you are. If there is a large group of people meeting on a regular basis inconveniencing the neighbors in their own homes, that is called a business. Get a license and the problems will be cleared up.

I live across the street from a guy who turned his home into a car repair shop. Can't tell you how many times our driveway is blocked and no where for our friends to park.

One rule to follow that's very simple. Obey the law. Disobey the law and you should go to jail.
Okay, he is buying them one more year -
Maybe by the end of that year things will be looking better for everybody and they can start to help themselves again.

I compare this to my daughter not having a job and needing my help right now, but hopefully by the end of the year she will be back on her feet and can survive on her own.

At least give people a chance. If he was doing nothing but letting people fend for themselves you would be mad too. Change has got to start somewhere!
I'm not buying his music and never will

Buying of News by Bush's Aides Is Ruled Illegal

By ROBERT PEAR

Published: October 1, 2005

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 - Federal auditors said on Friday that the Bush administration violated the law by buying favorable news coverage of President Bush's education policies, by making payments to the conservative commentator Armstrong Williams and by hiring a public relations company to analyze media perceptions of the Republican Party.

In a blistering report, the investigators, from the Government Accountability Office, said the administration had disseminated covert propaganda in the United States, in violation of a statutory ban.

The contract with Mr. Williams and the general contours of the public relations campaign had been known for months. The report Friday provided the first definitive ruling on the legality of the activities.

Lawyers from the accountability office, an independent nonpartisan arm of Congress, found that the administration systematically analyzed news articles to see if they carried the message, The Bush administration/the G.O.P. is committed to education.

The auditors declared: We see no use for such information except for partisan political purposes. Engaging in a purely political activity such as this is not a proper use of appropriated funds.

The report also sharply criticized the Education Department for telling Ketchum Inc., a public relations company, to pay Mr. Williams for newspaper columns and television appearances praising Mr. Bush's education initiative, the No Child Left Behind Act.

When that arrangement became public, it set off widespread criticism. At a news conference in January, Mr. Bush said: We will not be paying commentators to advance our agenda. Our agenda ought to be able to stand on its own two feet.

But the Education Department has since defended its payments to Mr. Williams, saying his commentaries were no more than the legitimate dissemination of information to the public.

The G.A.O. said the Education Department had no money or authority to procure favorable commentary in violation of the publicity or propaganda prohibition in federal law.

The ruling comes with no penalty, but under federal law the department is supposed to report the violations to the White House and Congress.

In the course of its work, the accountability office discovered a previously undisclosed instance in which the Education Department had commissioned a newspaper article. The article, on the declining science literacy of students, was distributed by the North American Precis Syndicate and appeared in numerous small newspapers around the country. Readers were not informed of the government's role in the writing of the article, which praised the department's role in promoting science education.

The auditors denounced a prepackaged television story disseminated by the Education Department. The segment, a video news release narrated by a woman named Karen Ryan, said that President Bush's program for providing remedial instruction and tutoring to children gets an A-plus.

Ms. Ryan also narrated two videos praising the new Medicare drug benefit last year. In those segments, as in the education video, the narrator ended by saying, In Washington, I'm Karen Ryan reporting.

The television news segments on education and on Medicare did not state that they had been prepared and distributed by the government. The G.A.O. did not say how many stations carried the reports.

The public relations efforts came to light weeks before Margaret Spellings became education secretary in January. Susan Aspey, a spokeswoman for the secretary, said on Friday that Ms. Spellings regarded the efforts as stupid, wrong and ill-advised. She said Ms. Spellings had taken steps to ensure these types of missteps don't happen again.

The investigation by the accountability office was requested by Senators Frank R. Lautenberg of New Jersey and Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, both Democrats. Mr. Lautenberg expressed concern about a section of the report in which investigators said they could not find records to confirm that Mr. Williams had performed all the activities for which he billed the government.

The Education Department said it had paid Ketchum $186,000 for services performed by Mr. Williams's company. But it could not provide transcripts of speeches, articles or records of other services invoiced by Mr. Williams, the report said.

Nice try, but I am not buying, and I doubt others are either.
Your style of posting is obvious and it is not hard to figure it out. You post under different monikers to pile on and support your own points, in the same condescending manner. You just messed up this time and forgot what moniker you were posting under. So now we all know the truth...so let's just let it drop. Put a fork in it...it's done.
Who in their right mind would be buying but the elite?
This is a great site, explains derivatives (hedge funds) which Warren Buffett calls WMD. If I understand it correctly, people bet on funds just like football, at a whopping total of 16 trillion dollar world wide. No one knows who owns them or who sells them. They cannot be traced.

It is very strange. Cramer of Mad Money has even mentioned "financial terrorism."

I bet you 25 cents the market collapses tomorrow. This link is very informative. But in the end, even the politicians do not quite understand how this works as well as the brightest minds in economics.
