Point being: Couldn't he find a church that offers those things sans the racism and hate mongeri

Posted By: My church has all the same ministries on 2008-10-15
In Reply to: Thanks so much for the instant replay!! But guess what? No hate preached at my church though!! (sm) - My church has all the same ministries

Many, many of the larger churches throughout the US offer those. My church offers almost every single one, excpet maybe the quilting and drill team. I am sure he could find something "consistent with his life experiences" elsewhere....unless racisim and hatemongering are also part of his life experiences.

Really? I would hate to see your criteria for racism

As a young broadcaster in the 1970s, Limbaugh once told a black caller: "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back." A decade ago, after becoming nationally syndicated, he mused on the air: "Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?"

In 1992, on his now-defunct TV show, Limbaugh expressed his ire when Spike Lee urged that black schoolchildren get off from school to see his film Malcolm X: "Spike, if you're going to do that, let's complete the education experience. You should tell them that they should loot the theater, and then blow it up on their way out."

In a similar vein, here is Limbaugh's mocking take on the NAACP, a group with a ninety-year commitment to nonviolence: "The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."

When Carol Moseley-Braun (D-IL) was in the U.S. Senate, the first black woman ever elected to that body, Limbaugh would play the "Movin' On Up" theme song from TV's "Jeffersons" when he mentioned her. Limbaugh sometimes still uses mock dialect -- substituting "ax" for "ask"-- when discussing black leaders.

Such quotes and antics -- many compiled by Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR) for our 1995 book -- offer a whiff of Limbaugh's racial sensibility. So does his claim that racism in America "is fueled primarily by the rantings and ravings" of people like Jesse Jackson. Or his ugly reference two years ago to the father of Madonna's first child, a Latino, as "a gang-member type guy" -- an individual with no gang background.

Couldn't find it.

All I could find on that board was complaining and whining about liberals and how they're all terrible and godless, etc., etc.  'Nuff said.

Thanks so much for the instant replay!! But guess what? No hate preached at my church though!! (sm)
Perhaps it was the ministries at the Trinity United Church that attracted Obama...much like the ministries of other Americans attract them to their churches? Ya think?
1. Can-Cer-Vive support to cancer patients and caregivers.
2. Churh school and youth church.

Too bad you couldn't find all her name calling
::
That's the post I couldn't find - thanks
Thanks for the info and thanks for bringing issues to the table. Will have to read it now that I'm off work.
They couldn't find her....they were tracking...
her by the hospitals she was visiting...by the time she returned to our hospital, it was too late. I don't think a 14yo has the maturity to make choices, either. If you have adolescent or teenage girls read "Saving Ophelia" - you can only control your children soooo much and the rest of it is hang on to the reins and hope the ride isn't too wild.
I couldn't find that one but I did find this

S.Amdt.4170: To protect families, family farms and small businessees by extending the income tax rate structure, raising the death tax exemption to $5 million and reducing the maximum death tax rate to no more than 35%; to keep education affordable extending the college tuition deduction; and to protect senior citizens from higher taxes on their retirement income, maintain U.S. financial market competitiveness, and promote economic growth by extending the lower tax rates on dividents and capital gains.

NAY: Biden and Obama   YEA: McCalin

I.E., this is in the voting record in the public records. There are not too many voting records there for the O since he started his campaign and most of those he voted NAY or say Not Voting.

Why is it that you always find a way to twist things...sm
to your advantage? We went from Michelle Obama's thesis to Rev. Wright. Of course he is a racist. Has anyone here said he isn't?
Where do you find hate in my post?
I posted truth.  I didn't espouse hatred towards anyone.  I simply said there is one path to God.  Show me where I was hateful!!  Just because you don't agree doesn't make me hateful.  On the contrary, you are guilty of you're own accusation!
Excuse me but don't you find it more stimulating to debate things rather than to just

I always find it funny how the left and right interpret the same things...(sm)
differently.

I saw the news programs today and yesterday this poster is talking about, and I can't quote you exactly what he said either. But she did tell you in general terms what he said. Obama also warned of how much this is going to cost us, in the trillions...but that it had to be done NOW. That seemed to be fear mongering to me too. Maybe not to you, but it did to me.

And yet, since she can't back it up quote something to your satisfaction, you have to say she's spewing garbage?

I always thought you were fairer than that, JTBB, and more intelligent than resorting to this. I guess you aren't, though.

I find it fascinating that women really hate her...
so much for that feminist mantra I am woman, hear me roar...oh, wait, only roar if you think and act like us or else get back in the kitchen where you belong. They hate her because she is either everything they aren't or can't be or they feel guilty. Anger comes from fear. While I agree that she does have little experience in foreign affairs, the top guy on the other ticket doesn't have that much either. For that fact, Clinton and Carter had little foreign affairs experience also. Didn't stop them from becoming president; this lady is running for VP. And please don't give the song and dance about McCain's health, any one can die at any time, age has nothing to do with it. Biden has had 2 brain aneuryms in the past. Eight presidents have died in office, 4 assassinated, and 7 VPs have died in office.
I'd like to see things from your point of view but
I can't seem to get my head up that far in my behind.
So what's your point? Prevention and preemption are bad things?

Hey, I'm cool with that philosphy especially since there has not been another terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11.  Thank you, President Bush!

Let's not forget the Clinton administration had Bin Laden on their radar and failed to act preemptively, leaving the Bush administration to clean up the mess!

Here is some of that sound doctrine from the National Security Council, published 09/20/2002:

The security environment confronting the United States today is radically different from what we have faced before. Yet the first duty of the United States Government remains what it always has been: to protect the American people and American interests. It is an enduring American principle that this duty obligates the government to anticipate and counter threats, using all elements of national power, before the threats can do grave damage. The greater the threat, the greater is the risk of inaction – and the more compelling the case for taking anticipatory action to defend ourselves, even if uncertainty remains as to the time and place of the enemy’s attack. There are few greater threats than a terrorist attack with WMD.

To forestall or prevent such hostile acts by our adversaries, the United States will, if necessary, act preemptively in exercising our inherent right of self-defense. The United States will not resort to force in all cases to preempt emerging threats. Our preference is that nonmilitary actions succeed. And no country should ever use preemption as a pretext for aggression.

It's better to be proactive than reactive, unless you're okay with another 9/11 and thousands of dead Americans, cleaning up the bodies rather then preventing their deaths?

Thanks so much for proving my point about the angry, hate-filled left. sm
You did a perfect job of it.  You are incapable of thought other than that driven by hate. Your debates are screeds and your voice is strident and laced with the same adjectives...the word liar comes to mind. Which, of course, you are.
Being able to have a gun offers some amount of protection (sm)
I do not have a gun, however, with gun control, only the registered guns are taken, right? That would be the people who have them legally.  Criminals do not generally make sure everything is all nice and properly registered, so they get to keep theirs and no one else does.  Kind of makes things seem off-balance, don't you think?
Used to be only the 'mob' made offers
you couldn't refuse.  New mob!  Tony Soprano for president!
Running from church to church is not the answer...sm

There are problems and controversy in every church.  I do not agree with things that go on in my church nor everything that my pastor says or does.  I have found that some churches problems are greater than the ones in your own church, so some times you have to be still.

Here's one for ya....Me along with plenty of other Americans don't agree with what our current President Bush has done in terms of running our country, starting a war, making history by putting every state in this country in a negative deficit, and I could continue to go on, but the point is even in our disagreement with him, we have not jumped up and ran to another country and we wonder why; running is not the answer.  First off it is not our place to condemn one, but since someone is being condemned for what was said, condemn the Rev. Wright, not Obama.

Racism

Racism does not have to be whites not accepting blacks.  It can also be blacks not accepting whites.  And that does happen.  I would not approve of anybody that was trying to be a leader of this great country siding with one or the other.  They need to accept both blacks and whites.  Obviously, Obama does not think that way.  So what, if he was a teen when he wrote these books.  They should never have been published if he does not agree with what is in them.

All this mess that is going on now did not start with George Bush.  Congress controls this country, with the president having veto power.  The Dems have been in power insofar as Congress goes for the last two years.  But it started even before then.

Wake up, America!  You think with all our news media announcing to the world what we are getting ready to do that if Iraq had WMD they would not have known what was going on over here and what our plans were and most likely would have moved the WMD to another country.

Now I know there isn't any racism in
.
Racism

Will racism play a major roll in this election?  You betcha.  However, you cannot say that people not voting for Obama are racist.  Some of them are, but not all of them.  How many Obama supporters are voting for him just because he is black?  Probably a heck of a lot....so you have racism on both sides here.

Yesterday someone posted and used Barrack Obama's middle name and they were called racist for doing so.  I do not see how this is racist.  It is the man's name.  How can someone be racist for calling him by his name?

I seriously am tired of people playing the race card.  Yes, racism is out there and it will play a part in this election but that most definitely goes on both sides.  You have your wacko people yelling "kill him" at a McCain rally.  The media tried to say it happened again at a Palin rally, but that is untrue.  It was only yelled during a McCain speech.  That was wrong and crazy people like that are way out of line.  They are also giving good people who are McCain supporters bad names.  Then you have Obama's supporters.  There are many good people who are on Obama's side and yet there are those crazy wack jobs on his side as well who are only voting for him because he IS black and most certainly will be screaming racism if Obama should lose.

Both sides are guilty of racism.  Some are afraid of the crazy people yelling "kill him" and others are afraid of crazy Obama supporters rioting if he should lose.  It goes both ways.  So stop blaming one side or the other.  They both have nut job racists.  I'm just tired of hearing about this.

Racism
I can't help but wish that everyone making less than $50,000 a year who opposes Obama would take a few moments to sit quietly and really question him/herself about the racial question. If those folks were honest with themselves, really honest, I bet they'd be quite surprised. I can't think of any other reason why folks making $50,000 or less (much less) a year would support the Republicans, just simple racism.
Racism
And white folks haven't been raising their children to judge people by the color of their skin since, well, way back before Jim Crow--and DON'T get me started on Jim Crow. All thru my working life (40-plus years) I've been seeing sneaky racism in the legal and medical fields thru a white woman's eyes and, frankly, I'm thoroughly disgusted with those of us on the paler side of the makeup counter.
that church is concerning to me
it SHOULD be concerning to everyone.
This is why I don't go to church

Is this what is going on in the churchs now?  Fear tactics that we are all doomed to he**?  Our society is morally based.  Go walk around the Middle East for a day and you will appreciate just how moral we are.  The public schools aren't there to raise our children and at least they can go to school.  You don't have to put your child in the public school system, that is also the beauty of choice in our country.  Try having your child dodge bombs instead or be taught to strap bombs to themselves and die in the name of God.  I'll take the science class any day over that.  You can teach your children to have faith and to read books based on opinions and science.  We aren't stupid, we can make our own decisions.  I love the fact that my son can argue all points of view.  He was taught evolution, so what?  He is smart enough to make his own decision, just like you!  All opinions should be presented to grow and learn.  If there was only one point of view, how would we know how to chose?

There is no racism in America, no way!

Al Sharpton doesn't have to look far for fuel...see the following story on racism in America.

On June 28 2007 a young black defendant Mychal Bell was found guilty of aggravated assault against a young white man by an all white jury despite conflicting testimony from witnesses.

His defense lawyer was incompetent at the very least and didn't even call the only adult to witness what happened to the stand. This man's testimony could have concievably blown the prosecuters case out of the water.

Originally the prosecuter tryed to charge Mychal and others with attempted murder for being involved in what was basically a fight and only backed off because of a worlwide public out cry. Learn more about the case from documents sent to me by Alan Bean, the founder of Friends of Justice a group dedicated to making sure all people are given a fair trial. You can read the documents by clicking the links below:

If you want a definition of racism...
read the creed for Obama's church...and read some of his pastor mentor's sermons...and some of the speeches and quotes of their friend Louis Farrakhan. That, my friend, is the very definition of racism. When you read the creed of the church, substitute the word "white" everywhere the word "black" is used and tell me it is not racist. We do NOT need a racist in the White House.
Racism is on both sides......not just one
xx
Racism....that is a bit of a stretch....
because vanilla is white? LOL. The point was that if you are preaching change, and you pick the guy who has been a senator for 30-some years and may not LIVE in DC but is certainly part of the DC establishment...that is not change, it is picking "vanilla" meaning generic, and Joe Biden is definitely a generic DC liberal. Definitely not a change from DC politics...which is exactly opposite from what Obama has been saying he wanted to do..get away from politics as usual in DC.
There is no racism in my tone......
I am just sick of nuts like him standing up there and making absolutely insane remarks, such as the "messiah" thing. And what is even worse, he has weak followers if they don't see this man for what he is. HE is a RACIST man. I have no problem calling him out on that one. He is racist, his comments are racist, and he loves to divide the races. If you don't like it, too bad. The facts aren't prety are they?

Nice racism, lis!
You should be ashamed of yourself!
I believe YOU were concerned about racism...
+
Of course racism is alive and well...sm
One explanation, and I know many people who did this....people wanted to be able to say that they voted in the first black man into the white house. And that is all well and good, but they did it only to be able to say they voted him in. Period.

Obama is long on style, short on substance....and extremely short on experience.

We've elected someone who's about to get on the job training.

I have not seen any racism here. You are making
nm
You seem to be an expert on racism.....
NN
It goes MANY ways. For example, I see racism
nm
Ah, yes. Racism. Now it's all because of color.
People were very lavish with their criticism of Bush as a 'cowboy' etc.  He walked with a 'swagger'.  He talked funny (said nucular).  I guess these criticisms showed covert 'texism' ?
Well, then, please find me one that you find to be racist.

If he didn't go to church, then what would you say?
He can't win; if he goes he's wrong, if he doesn't what? The fact remains: Clinton lied, nobody died. Bush lied and 3 YEARS, billions of dollars later, 2300+ died...and yet we're being told how much **progress** is being made. Get over Clinton and wake up!
Yes, and The Persecuted Church
While persecution is not exclusionary to one set of beliefs at the present time Christians are the most persecuted people in the world especially in the Arab world and in communistic countries such as China and dictatorial countries like Iran and North Korea.

OBAMA'S CHURCH

Subject: TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

During this campaign for the Presidency, It's interesting that so much had been made of Mitt Romney's Mormom religion, while we heard/hear so little of Barack Obama's, outside of the denials of his being Muslim.

However, if you look more closely at Trinity United Church of Christ, Obama's church, it sounds more like a racist cult than anything else, with a committment, not to America, but to Africa. Scary, when you consider this man could be the President of this United States.

Please go to this church's website and read what is written there. It is very alarming. Barack Obama is a member of this church and is running for President of the U.S. If you look at the first page of their website, you will learn that this congregation has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa. No where is AMERICA even mentioned.  Notice too, what color you will need to be if you should want to join Obama's church... B-L-A-C-K!  Whites attend, I have also read, but are not members.  Doesn't look like his choice of religion has improved much over his (former?) Muslim upbringing.  This guy desires to rule over America while his loyalty is totally vested in a Black Africa!  It is so important to pass this message along to all of our family & friends. To think that Obama has even the slightest chance in the run for the presidency, is really scary. This is the web page for the church Barack Obama belongs to:

www.tucc.org/about.htm

and then I saw/heard him speak yesterday and only see young white people always arround him....where are these black folks who are supporting him?  The whites on TV clamoring around him far outweigh the number of blacks ALL the time that I see, I do not get that....it should be mixed in my mind wherever he speaks/goes to.

I am not a racist so please do not attack me.....
