In Reply to: Campaign promises - Zville MT

I didn't like either candidate. I like Hillary even less. I've heard many things from people who have met her and it always confirms my suspicions about her. There were so many other qualified and good candidates but they got pushed aside.

I guess I didn't express myself very well. I do know that congress has a big part in the decisions that are being made. The President does not do everything by himself, and he has people he is beholden to. He is a puppet on a string and he follows what he is told to do. But with that said I'm sick of people that blame Bush for every single thing (when he's in the same boat as Obama), but then they turn around and say its the congress' fault. It seems to be a double standard. So they blame a republican president but not a democrat president. They said Bush voted or made decisions, but Obama doesn't. I do understand about the people who are really in control, I'm just tired of one party being blamed for everything. I do know that Obama could have kept his promise and not voted to support the Patriot Act. That was his decision, not congresses. He could have said "wait a minute here, I promised the people I would go line by line with the spending plan and that's what I'm going to do". Those are choices he could have made, but he didn't. Has nothing to do with congress, and if congress said we have to pass this bill by a certain date, he could have said, "no, I made a promise to the American people and I'm going to keep it".

It would be interesting to research Reagans campaign. He was such a great president and it was a great time to be in the service. It was a great time to consider yourself an American and to fight to defend a country to have someone like President Reagan to look up who was a great and inspiring leader and to be part of it was a once in a lifetime chance and I'm glad I did it. Now I feel like we have Jimmy Carter back in there (or worse).
