so now they have been served? Out of curiousity, if he was proven ineligible and had to withdraw...what happens then? Another primary or what? Has that ever happened before? Where a nominee had to withdraw before the election? Does the party just pick another person and that person pick another VP?

Articles of impeachment filed on Cheney sm

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), the former mayor of Cleveland who is seeking the 2008 Democratic nomination for president for the second time, introduced articles to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney Tuesday, basing his decision on Cheney's initial push to send the United States into war with Iraq.

The vice president is beating the same drums of war against Iran that he beat against Iraq under false pretenses, and he's doing it all over again, against Iran, Kucinich said. And I say that it's time to stand up to that. Our country couldn't afford this last war. We can't afford to go into another one. And somebody has to challenge the conduct of this Vice President.

A Hillary supporter in Pennsylvania has filed...
a lawsuit about Obama's citizenship. I have read...and I haven't read everything yet...that it alleges Obama was born in Kenya, not in Hawaii. I don't have all the details. I don't know if it has merit...I just know it was filed. Probably just sour grapes, but I think the timing is key...a few days before the convention starts. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

And yeah, QA'ing posts on a posting board is WAY over the top.
Here's the brief filed in court by several media agencies...including
Was Valerie Plame covert? What's curious is that lawyers representing 36 media organizations argued she wasn't in this amici curiae brief submitted to the US District Court.
(page ii) "In this case, there exists ample evidence in the public record to cast serious doubt as to whether a crime has even been committed under the Intelligence Identities Protection Act (the "Act") in the investigation underlying the attempts to secure testimony from Miller and Cooper. If in fact no crime under the Act has been committed, then any need to compel Miller and Cooper to reveal their confidential sources should evaporate."
And further
(ppg 30,31) "Plame was not given 'deep cover' required of a covert agent...She worked at a desk job at CIA headquarters, where she could be seen traveling to and from, and active at, Langley. She had been residing in Washington — not not stationed abroad-- for a number of years. As discussed below, the CIA failed to take even its usual steps to prevent publication of her name."
And further
(pg 31) Moreover, the government may have "publicly acknowledged or revealed" her intelligence relationship prior to publication of Novak's July 14, 2003 column. "The United States has 'revealed' an intelligence relationship if it has disclosed information which names, or leads directly to the identification of...a covert agent." S. Rep. 97-201, at 23. An article in The Washington Times indicated that Plame's identity was compromised twice prior to Novak's publication. If this information is accurate - another fact a court should explore - there is an absolute defense to prosecution. See 50 U.S.C. § 422(a).

And WHO was one of the media outlets who filed this brief? OMG, say it isn't so....CBS. The same ones who are now trotting Plame out to say she WAS covert.

What a crock, reveille. Really!!

The lawsuit I am talking about was just filed this week...by some Democrat attorney...
in Pennsylvania. It may be the same material Bill and Hillary were going to go to court with...this is the first I heard that they personally were going to do it.

And Rendell said just this morning...saw it on the news...that he was "ashamed" of the way the press and fawned over Obama during the primaries much more than on Clinton. He did not say anything against Obama per se...just harangued the press for its biased coverage.

Also just heard a guy, and can't remember for the life of me what his organization is called...basically disgruntled Hillary supporters...who says that some 30% of her supporters are firmly deciding to support McCain...according to him, that's almost 3 million people. If that many Dems vote for McCain...don't know if Obama can overcome that.

I still say Hillary may say she supports Obama to the public, but in private I am thinking she is behind these people making waves because she wants Hillary in 2012.

It is really fascinating how this is playing out.

Van Os files suit against TX SoS re: electronic voting...see msg.
PRESS RELEASE

June 14, 2006

Democratic Attorney General nominee David Van Os joined with the NAACP, two Travis County voters, and the Texas Civil Rights Project today in filing a lawsuit in state district court seeking to block the use of electronic voting machines that do not produce paper receipts. Attorney Jim Harrington, Director of the Texas Civil Rights Project, represents Van Os and the other plaintiffs.

Democracy belongs to all the voters. When every voter cannot be sure that a machine recorded his or her vote the way he or she intended, democracy is not fulfilled. These paperless machines are a direct threat to Constitutional democracy. We must have paper ballots.

The lawsuit claims that the paperless machines violate the public's right to a secure election and the purity of the ballot box under the Texas Constitution.

More than half the states have enacted legislation that requires voting machines to print a paper ballot when the voter casts his or her vote. The voter reads his or her ballot to make sure it recorded the vote he or she intended and then casts both the electronic and paper ballots.

The paper ballot can be counted in the all too often case when electronic ballots vanish into thin air or when there is a discrepancy between the number of people who voted and the number of votes recorded. Having a paper trail also makes fraud less likely.

For further information contact David Van Os at (210) 332-7070.

911 Victim Ellen Mariani Open Letter To The POTUS
Thursday, 27 November 2003
Press Release: Ellen Mariani Lawsuit
=======================================
Open Letter To The President Of The United States

Mr. Bush,

This ''open letter'' is coming from my heart. I want you to know that I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat and that this is not an attempt to ''bash the Government''.

You Mr. Bush should be held responsible and liable for any and all acts that were committed to aid in any cover up of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. As President you have a duty to protect the American people. On September 11th you did not instruct your staff to issue a nationwide emergency warning/alert to advise us of the attack on America. We had to receive the news of the attacks via the news networks.

In the months leading up to the attacks you were repeatedly advised of a possible attack on American soil. During your daily intelligence briefings you were given information that had been uncovered that the very real possibility existed that certain undesirable elements would use commercial aircraft to destroy certain target buildings. You never warned the American people of this possible threat. Who were you protecting?

When you took no responsibility towards protecting the general public from the possibility of attack, you were certainly not upholding the oath you spoke when you took office. In that oath you pledged to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America.

On the morning of the attack, you and members of your staff were fully aware of the unfolding events yet you chose to continue on to the Emma E. Booker Elementary School to proceed with a scheduled event and photo op. While our nation was under attack you did not appear to blink an eye or shed a tear. You continued on as if everything was business as usual.

In the days following the attacks all air traffic was grounded and Americans, including myself, were stranded wherever they had been when the flight ban was imposed. I was stranded at Midway Airport in Chicago, unable to continue on to California for my daughter's wedding. Imagine my surprise when I later found out that during this no fly period a number of people were flown out of the country on a 747 with Arabic lettering on the fuselage. None of these people were interviewed or questioned by any local, State or Federal agencies. Why were they allowed to leave and who exactly was on that flight. We know for a fact that some of the people on the flight were members of (or related to) the royal family of Saudi Arabia and members of the Bin Laden family. Were these people allowed to leave because of the long-standing relationships that your family has with both families?

It is my belief that you intentionally allowed 9/11 to happen to gather public support for a war on terrorism. These wars, in Afghanistan and Iraq, have not accomplished what you stated were your goals. Why have you not captured Osama Bin Laden? Where are Saddam's weapons of mass destruction? All that has happened is a bill that is passed before Congress for 87 billion dollars to rebuild what you ordered blown to bits. As an American who lost a loved one in the war on terror I do pray and support our troops who were sent to Afghanistan and Iraq by you. These troops have and will continue to die for your lies. As an American I can make this statement as it appears that associates of your family may stand to prosper from the rebuilding of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Mr. Bush the time has come for you to stop your control over us. Stop blocking the release of certain evidence and documents that were discovered by the 9/11 Investigation Commission if you have nothing to hide proving you did not fail to act and prevent the attacks of 9/11. Your reason for not releasing this material is that it is a matter of national security. When in fact I believe that it is your personal credibility/security that you are concerned with. You do not want the public to know the full extent of your responsibility and involvement.

After 9/11 the Patriot Act and Homeland Security Act were passed. Both of these allow the government to tap your telephone, search your home, and seize whatever they feel they need to do on a whim. They can do this without a judge's review or a warrant. I feel that this is in direct conflict with our rights as stated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

We the families of 9/11 victims need to have answers to the following questions:

1. Why were 29 pages of the 9/11committee report personally censored at your request?

2. Where are the black boxes from Flight 11 and Flight 175?

3. Where are the voice recorders from Flight 11 and Flight 175?

4. Why can't we gain access to the complete air traffic control records for Flight 11 and Flight 175?

5. Where are the airport surveillance tapes that show the passengers boarding the doomed flights?

6. When will complete passenger lists for all of the flights be released?

7. Why did your brother Jeb (the Governor of Florida) go to the offices of the Hoffman Aviation School and order that flight records and files be removed? These files were then put on a C130 government cargo plane and flown out of the country. Where were they taken and who ordered it done?

It has been over two years since hundreds of our lost loved ones remains have still yet to be identified and their remains placed in a landfill at Fresh Kill. We want our heroes brought back and given a public and proud resting place where we all can pay our respects and honor them. These innocent people never had a chance as they were taken from us on that sad September Day.

In the court of public opinion Mr. Bush, your lies are being uncovered each day. My husband, all of the other victims and their families and our nation as a whole, has been victimized by your failed leadership prior to and after 9/11!

I will prove this in a court of law!

Ellen M. Mariani ###

Bush looked like a liar in that flight suit.
The democrats are into strobe lights and smoke machines and can conduct their convention any way they choose. Nobody asked for your approval. Go serve tea and crumpets next week in the Twin Cities but better remember a couple of air raid alarms to wake up the crowd when they start dozing through their lack of enthusiasm for the best they could do.

we'd be better off without illegals..he deserves a commendation, not a civil suit...

Well...the flight suit might disspell some of the rock star image...
I think Invesco field and the whole rock star set is going to do nothing to help him trying to portray himself as a serious politician ready to lead this country. But...I will wait until I actually see it...have only seen pictures so far. But if it is anything like it looks, it will be more like a hollywood musical than a political event. Maybe it IS all about the celebrity. Kinda looks like it might be.
Hmmm...Gives new meaning to "He's an empty suit", doesn't it?

same time?
Well, if these posts are showing up at the same time, how could it be me?  I cant post everywhere at the same time, LOL. You are idiots if you think that.  For you to even try to connect me with other posts..what for?  Dont you have better things to do with your time?  It makes me laugh that you actually have taken the time.  It would not even occur to me to try to link up your posts and initials with other posts and initials.  Gosh, guess I could take it as a compliment that you are spending so much time obsessing about me.  I have a better suggestion for your time.  Spend it researching this murderous lying administration.
Goes on all the time.
Does not surprise me at all, all politicians are crooks, that is why they had the wearwithall to get into it, smart, but all crooks.  Bill Clinton was a sex addict, no doubt, but he did more to help me than any other president.  I am a swing vote, I vote for the man not the party.  I don't like the current President, I can see he has no soul in his eyes, but yet, they claim they won "two elections", he only won one, and I still doubt that considering that his brother was the gov of one of the highest electoral votes.  But I do believe he won the last election, and his supreme court nomination has to be respected.  I am not happy with Dudley Do Right, but Dubya did win one election, (we think), and he as president has the right to appoint whomever he wants.
It's about time this was done
While I don't agree that this is all the president's fault, and while I think some of what these governors are doing is political positioning it's about time somebody does something about this.   A lot of the immigration could be handled at the state level other than the border patrol which is solely in the federal government's hand.  This is where we as citizens must demand our leaders both dem. and rep. to stand up and do their jobs, and this does include the president.  While I am a great fan of Bush this is one of the areas I think he's lacking in along with the majority of our leaders at the federal, state, and local levels.   I hope these states go one step further and call in the National Guard.  This is going to be the issue that I think will determine elections in 2006 and 2008 along with the issue of soaring gas prices and oil demand.
One time only
Where did she ever state she hated Bush?  Could you please post that article or lead me to it.  She wants to ask some tough questions which, obviously, he does not have the answers to.  I would like to know what our **mission** is too.  It changes so often.  Talk about flip flops.  I think we have had about four different reasons for pre-emptively invading Iraq and, of course, they still try to link Iraq to 9/11.  Didnt know it was written in stone that you can only meet with your servant, the president, one time.  However, it is working out okay, as most of America backs Cindy and quite a few Europeans too.  I think it is great that finally most of America is finding its voice once again and screaming to the warmonger in the WH, bring our troops home.  To stay the course is ridiculous but then, again, having invaded Iraq was monsterous and wrong, based on nothing but lies..That to me is RIDICULOUS BIG TIME. I also find it quite sad that Bush is taking a five week vacation, bicycling around his property, clearing brush, yet he cant spare 10 minutes or more to speak with Cindy and answer the questions she has, which many of us have..shows where his priorities are.  Last time I took a vacation was in 2000 and it was only a weekend.  This person in the WH is so out of touch with reality and the hopes, needs and worries of most Americans.  He is pathetic.
Once upon a time. sm
You and the rest of the nameless posters here hounded two posters from the conservative board.  And what you said and did to them was far far worse than this.  And then when they were gone, you rejoiced and sang songs, ding dong the witch is dead.  Remember?  ON THE CONSERVATIVE BOARD YOU SANG.  Hypocrits.
LOL! Nor did I (either time).
Too bad they're just not bright enough to see how pathetic and desperate they've become.  I've gotta admit, though, their idiocy does provide a LOT of laughs for me.  (I don't want to emphasize that because if they think they're doing ANYTHING to make my life more pleasant, they'll stop!)
Its about time!
The 2005 International Commission of Inquiry
on Crimes Against Humanity Committed by
the Bush Administration of the United States

    The Bush Crimes Commission

    Friday 14 October 2005

When the possibility of far-reaching war crimes and crimes against humanity exists, people of conscience have a solemn responsibility to inquire into the nature and scope of these acts and to determine if they do in fact rise to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity. That is the mission of the International Commission of Inquiry on Crimes Against Humanity. The first session will be held October 21-22 in New York City. This tribunal will, with care and rigor, present evidence and assess whether George W. Bush and his administration have committed crimes against humanity. Well-established international law will be referenced where applicable, but the tribunal will not be limited by the scope of existing international law.

The tribunal will deliberate on four categories of indictable crimes: 1) Wars of Aggression, with particular reference to the invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. 2) Torture and Indefinite Detention, with particular reference to the abandonment of international standards concerning the treatment of prisoners of war and the use of torture. 3) Destruction of the Global Environment, with particular reference to systematic policies contributing to the catastrophic effects of global warming. 4) Attacks on Global Public Health and Reproductive Rights, with particular reference to the genocidal effects of forcing international agencies to promote abstinence only in the midst of a global AIDS epidemic.

The Commission's jury of conscience will be composed of internationally respected jurists and legal scholars, prominent voices of conscience, and experts and monitors in relevant fields. The tribunal's legitimacy is derived from its integrity, its rigor in the presentation of evidence, and the stature of its participants. Representatives of the Bush administration will be invited to present a defense.

Prior to the meeting of the Commission, teams with sufficient expertise will prepare preliminary indictments in each of the four areas, setting forth the scope of the Bush administration's actions and how they contravene legal and moral norms for international behavior. At the meeting of the Commission, there will be four prosecution teams that organize the presentation of the evidence. This evidence will be documents as well as eyewitness testimony by victims and observers of the crimes alleged. The formal proceedings will be held in a public venue and all attempts will be made to publicize and broadcast its deliberations internationally. The Commission's jury of conscience will come to verdicts and its findings will be published.

The holding of this tribunal will frame and fuel a discussion that is urgently needed in the United States: Is the administration of George W. Bush guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity? The Commission will conduct its work with a deep sense of responsibility to the people of the world.

The Commission is sponsored by the Not In Our Name statement of conscience, joined by the following individuals and organizations:

Oh, she revealed it on the Conservative Board - ??

The stupid rules have made these boards a place where only crickets chirp. Its sad that people are so childish and cannot discuss things like mature adults. This is why these boards will remain a snoozeville, because some people are not capable of mature conversation and get insulted by anyone who does not believe exactly like they do, but if you like it dead here...by all means enjoy the silence.

Well this time it is ..
someone else. Thanks for the holiday greeting. Merry Christmas to you too, and a happy, healthy, joyful new year.
One last time....

I watched a TV broadcast; it evoked thoughts in my mind. The thoughts irritated me. I FELT uneasy and I THOUGHT I could print the same on this board and why. This is, after all, still America despite the speech police and this is, after all still the liberal board.

I'm sorry you feel the need to throw the little personal zingers in.

In this day and time you really can't have it all...sm
There is always going to be something or someone out of sorts, so I say just do you (Mrs. Obama). No one else can do it for her. If I were in her shoes, I would do the same thing.
yes, but she has done it time and time again and yet. sm
She is castigating Obama for MAYBE changing his mind.  So what's with that?
I will try this one more time...
There IS money for childrens' health care, if we prioritize. Anyone with half a brain knows there is waste galore in the social programs we have now. They are not administered properly, rules are not followed, people get on who should not thereby taking the funds for people who really need them. All I suggested is that they go ahead and do the cigarette tax, and then prioritize how to spend the rest of the social funding and make sure childrens' health care goes first. As to agreeing or disagreeing to the war...won't go there as childrens' health insurance seems to be the issue. If they would clean up the SCHIP program now and get all the illegals off it, there would be that much more funding for insuring American children. Then if the illegals want to get legal, seek citizenship and pay taxes into the system like the rest of us, then yes, I think their children should be covered too. I really don't see why Democrats seem to have a problem with prioritizing spending. We do it on a personal basis every day; why can't the government do it with OUR tax money? We all know we can't do everything we would like to do. Therefore we should do the most important things first. That is just common sense. Just like parents are not made of money where their own families are concerned, the government (that being your tax dollars and mine) is not made of money either...and prioritization as far as social programs needs to be done. I really don't see why everyone seems to have a problem with that.
Sorry...it would not have been the first time...
a poster used the same moniker and posted as liberal and conservative...guess they like to start a fight and then watch it develop...kinda like people who flock to wrecks. lol. Could not be sure that was not the case and still cannot be sure...but I will take your word for it. lol.
Well, time will tell...

I couldn't disagree more.  I think Obama is going to be torn apart if he is the nominee, more so than Clinton would.  Really, I just do not like the guy.  I think he is totally arrogant, along with his wife , and I do not believe for a minute that he is honest.  Of course, Clinton isn't either.  They're both lousy.

Yes, Ron Paul is out of the race...that's what I said, loooool.  In my opinion, he was the only person who ran that would be worthy of the presidency.

Yes, because you have had some time...
to make up your mind. They are registering people who have never really thought about it until that minute. And then putting them on a bus to go vote hearing Obama speech all the way there. Now you tell ME if that is fair. If you heard Republicans were doing that you would be yelling voter fraud at the top of your lungs. Who knows if these people are EVEN eligible to vote? The people registering them aren't asking. They are just signing them up.

Don't you think that greatly increases the chance of voter fraud?

Before the first vote the email boxes and switchboards were flooded. I wonder if the same is true for this 2nd vote. Urge everyone you know to continue to contact the officials for their districts. I failed to contact my senator before the 2nd vote, but he did vote no on it. You can bet I have not neglect to contact our representative! I am asking, begging, everyone to please do the same and to ask everyone you know to do the same while there is still a little time.
