So, rich tax cuts expire, middle class gets benefit,
will undermine, erode and ultimately vaporize capitalist money/greed ambition and incentive to produce, but keep minimum wage workers at sub-living-wage levels and expect them to have exhibit impeccible work ethic and slave away 24/7 with no complaints? I think I got it now.
Trickle Down........

Closing all the mental institutions and putting the insane on the streets was atrocious - but - it got them off disability and welfare...after all...you had to have an address to get those benefits. More can be found at the following link:  http://www.monitor.net/monitor/0406a/reaganhomeless.html

Reagan's Homeless

by:  Peter Dreier

Reagan came to office in 1981 with what he viewed as a mandate to reduce federal spending. In reality, Reagan increased federal spending by dramatically increasing the military budget while slashing domestic programs for working class Americans, particularly the poor. The result was a bloated federal deficit that mortgaged the nation's future.

Reagan's fans give him credit for restoring the nation's prosperity. But whatever economic growth occurred during the Reagan years benefitted the already well-off. The income gap between the rich and everyone else in America widened. Wages for the average worker declined. The nation's homeownership rate fell. Despite boom times for the rich, during Reagan's two terms in the White House, the poverty rate in cities grew.

Reagan owed little to urban voters, big-city mayors, black or Hispanic leaders, or labor unions -- the major advocates for metropolitan concerns. His indifference to urban problems was legendary. Early in his presidency, at a White House reception, Reagan went up to the only black member of his Cabinet, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Samuel Pierce, and said: "How are you, Mr. Mayor? I'm glad to meet you. How are things in your city?"

Reagan not only failed to recognize his own HUD Secretary, he failed to deal with the growing corruption scandal at the agency. Indeed, during the Reagan years, HUD became a feeding trough for Republican campaign contributors. Fortunately for Reagan, the media didn't uncover the "HUD Scandal" until he left office. It resulted in the indictment and conviction of top Reagan administration officials for illegally targeting housing subsidies to politically connected developers.

Yeah, and that *trickle down*
stuff, too!  LOL.
Trickle down economics
didn't work under Reagan and it won't work under McCain.  Ever consider water doesn't run uphill?
Trickle up poverty

I decided to Google this phrase and see what came up.  Not suprising the first on the list was from Rush Limbaugh.   I did find this too though and I couldn't agree more.  I have no idea who wrote it.

So how's that trickle down thing working
how big and fat those corporate giants have gotten and just how much your, your kids and their kids are going to be shelling out to fix what they broke?
How's that trickle down thing been working
If you are doing so well, how's that stock market been treating you lately? 401K all intact? When they froze your credit, added another $150 billion in pork and sweeteners to the bail out, McCain decided we should buy up all the bad mortgages at their original inflated values (creating a windfall for the lenders), AIG execs went to the spa on their way to the quail/pheasant hunt over in England and W announced the bank stock sale, were you as outraged as you seem to be over Obama's notion that we might want to take a look at poverty?
Question for the trickle down experts.
How long do you reckon it will take for those obscene executive pay/bonuses to reach my house? Will it be here in time for Christmas?
I fail to see how trickle up would work any better....sm
A lot of people I know who got their stimulus checks used it to pay their bills, put gas in their car, and buy a few groceries...and if there's any left, stuff it in their mattress for a rainy day (which is probably next week or next month).

Please explain to us how trickle up is going to work. I don't see how that chicken is going to stimulate the economy much at all.
How about that trickle up effect Obama's been touting....sm
how soon do you think those homeless people and lower end workers are going to be helping out the economy, hmmmmmm?????????

Think they're gonna be putting anything in your stocking next year?

Many rich are rich because they too are hard

tax cuts. oh, really?

I thought I was the only one who knew this.  If tax cuts expire, we get honked!  Duh!  That's more $ out of our pockets!

Can someone explain why they want to have a lower salary?  All I ever hear around here is how our paychecks continue to dwindle.  If Obama gets elected, plan on an even smaller check!

How can this be so hard to figure out?

pay cuts
Where are you seeing this information so I can read this?
I see that there are tax cuts in there -

Tax Cuts
I really think if we had had the tax cuts the last 8 years that we had WITHOUT all the additional spending, we would have been fine. I don't think it was the tax cuts that didn't work, but we spent way more than the tax cuts could help.

With that line of thought, spending more definitely isn't going to help.

Maybe all of the politicians that have 5 or 6 houses (yes, including Mccain) should sell all of their extra fluff and try to pay back some of our deficit. You know, live like regular hard-working American people. I mean really, they got us here, because they don't ever listen to what the regular people say!

Like that'll ever happen!
Tax Cuts
President Barack Obama ordered the U.S. Treasury on Saturday to implement tax cuts for 95 percent of Americans, fulfilling a campaign pledge he hopes will help jolt the economy out of recession.

http://uk.reuters.com/article/UKNews1/idUKTRE51K1P320090221

Of course, those of you on the right who despise President Obama certainly do not have to accept these tax cuts. You are welcome to stay at your current tax rate in protest.
So much for tax cuts for 95%
of us.  What a joke.  Obama wants a cap and trade green tax.......do you realize how many people that will hit hard.  Gas prices will be higher, grocery prices will go up, utility bills with skyrocket.  This isn't just for the rich.  This will hit everyone!!!   Obama himself said that energy costs would skyrocket.....he said that during his campaign.  I'm all for our environment, but this isn't the time to do this.  This isn't going to help us at all.  This is going to hit all consumers.....including low class and middle class consumers.....not just the rich.  So this BS of providing tax cuts for 95% of Americans is nothing but a distraction for the Kool-Aid drinkers.  He is like an illusionist....gets you focusing on one hand so we can't see what he is doing with his other hand.
tax cuts
Did anyone actually see a larger check beginning April 1st? I know I did not. I am paid hourly for 40 hours and my check was SMALLER by almost $50. Is this an anomaly or did my payroll dept screw up or am I not the only one who experienced this? Just curious.
where are the cuts coming from?
who is losing out ESPECIALLY when he has all these plans for additional government programs?
Thanks for posting this - I think it cuts thru the
thanks
The problem with the tax cuts is that

they only work when the government stops spending wasteful money.  Instead they are giving us tax cuts AND still spending money.  This bill spends more than anything.  I don't see where you get the OP was racism.  I too am doubtful of this stimulus package and it has nothing to do with what color President Obama is.  We can criticize our president as we have always been able to do in years past.  Why has this changed?  I'm sick and tired of people hating Obama because he is black but I'm also sick and tired of hearing how the people who criticize him are only criticizing him because he is black.  Either way....it is racism BS.  STOP IT!

If we go back and look at the last 8 years, Bush's tax cuts didn't help because government was STILL spending.  Bush was not a dictator any more than Obama is.  Government as a whole contributed to our downfall.  I blame them all and  I tend to keep an eye on the whole lot....not just Obama.

Try it..It works for me :o)
I havent read their posts for two days and its like a breath of fresh air!
Okay, whatever works for you....

Works for me! :)

That works for me.

Something in the works to get rid of them all. sm
I will probably vote for Nader or Baldwin. No write-ins allowed in my state or I would vote for Ron Paul. Barr is a neocon mole. See the new grassroots effort Voter Bomb.

Here's how it works.
Your prove your own point, that is assuming you have one, other than your typical, run-of-the-mill generic smear orgy. So far, your not doing that great of a job since all you seem to know how to do is belittle. Try a direct answer to the points I hve raised about the nature of the original post, the nasty reply and your defense of it.

I have no ax to grind, no point to prove, only my side of the story to present. I prefer to leave it up to the others to draw their own conclusions.
That's the way that works - nm

WHATEVER WORKS - DID THEY
CARE ABOUT US WHEN THEY FLEW PLANES INTO OUR BUILDINGS? - GET OVER IT - NEXT WEEK YOU'LL HAVE SOMETHING NEW TO COMPLAIN ABOUT, ESPECIALLY WITH OBAMA MAN IN OFFICE!
works for me....
your hatred is ugly.
Bush Tax Cuts Will Expire

Don't blame me, it's the plan, as Dems refuse to keep it going.  Also, Nancy Pelosi is backed into a corner, so is only saying she'll consider drilling in the US.  It's the truth. She won't.  Just watch it play out.  Pelosi has the power to NOT bring items to the floor, and she will.  She & the Dems are beholden to moveon.org, etc.  George Soros has even far more power than Pelosi.  Again, do your research.  He's the one who was behind legalization of "medical" marijuana in CA, just to name a few.

Has anyone thought about the Presidency, House, & Senate all being one party?

Whether it's R or D, it's not a good thing for Americans!

Incidentally, I'm not a fan of McCain or Bush.

that knife cuts both ways
I am reluctant to say it but...biden wasn't the only one. Palin got in her fair share, too. Take a look at "fact check." They both spun things their own way. That's what is so very sad. They all lie and expect us to swallow their crap like it's gospel and they leave people knowing we can't trust anyone in our own government. I think people now vote not for someone they actually like (because we can't trust them) but for whoever will be the lesser of 2 evils.
Sorry Sam, but the Bush cuts were only for those over $250K nm
not us peons
tax cuts?? just look at the table at the bottom
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/10/senator_obamas_four_tax_increa.html
I heard him say that the tax cuts would precede
no definite timetable on the increases. I was particularly happy to see the emphasis on jobs in generally speaking, relief to the middle class as his obvious priority.
Stimulus versus tax cuts

Stimulus means SPENDING

Non-refundable tax rebates means every $1.00 spent creates $1.02 in economic activity. 2 freaking cents (makes sense to the pubs.....I guess)

Infrastructure - every dollar spent equals $1.59 in economic activity (bridges, roads, etc.)

Food stamps (which the pubs want to cut out of the bill) - every dollar spent equals $1.73 in economic activity. This is the single most productive stimulus we have. Food stamps will get SPENT, unlike tax rebates.

If the pubs have their way, the bill will be 42% tax cuts which will not benefit job creation or improve the economy. They want to fail. Why? And you all call your senators to support this? If it gets pushed through like this, you have only yourselves to blame when everything goes to helll. You can't blame Obama for this cluster.

What works for you may not work
If you are a good Christian, good for you; be a shining example of your faith. But if in the process of being a good Christian you trample MY rights and/or faith, well, sorry, that isn't good. THAT is why I believe in the separation of church and state. We are all different and have different levels of development, spiritual and otherwise. God is the ONLY and ultimate judge; I believe we all come before Him to account for our lives. My relationship with God is between Him and me...no one else. I don't think it is the job of my fellow humans to judge me and and tell me, *My religion/faith is better than yours* I don't care how much YOU believe it.
Works for me. But it will never work for you and we all know it. nm
nm
Noone is saying prayer alone works, Sim!
nm
works for me too. Now there is a change I could ...
believe in... :)
And I think he works very hard trying to ...
take down a God he doesn't even believe exists by ridiculing people who know He exists. If God doesn't exist, what difference does it make? Methinks he doth protest too much...lol. Lotta guilt there from somewhere. lol.
THAT is the way Washington works now.
They can't help but add pork. It's in their genes. Only one ticket is talking about changing that. Only one ticket has a non Washington insider on it. Obama is right...we need REAL change, but the thing is, he is NOT real change. He is more of the same. Real change is McCain/Palin.
I think that works both ways -
I think there are a lot of people who will not publicly acknowledge to people that they will vote for Obama, but when the time comes and nobody knows what they really do, they will choose him.
Funny how that works isn't it.
.
I say go ahead if that's what works for you.
x
I am so sorry. Hope everything works out for you. nm

Republicans Hail Parts of Bill That Few of Them Supported

By MICHAEL FALCONE

Published: February 19, 2009

WASHINGTON — Republican lawmakers nearly unanimously resisted supporting the president’s $787 billion stimulus package, but what has proved irresistible is the temptation to take credit for at least a few of those billions.

Despite criticizing the bill as wasteful, a handful of Republican members of the House and Senate have found some provisions to cheer.

Just hours after voting against the bill on the House floor last week, Representative John L. Mica of Florida issued news releases lauding the inclusion of $8 billion for high-speed rail projects around the nation. Mr. Mica said the bill would also help pay for a commuter train project in his Central Florida district.

“If we could put a man on the moon, we should be able to move people from city to city quickly instead of wasting time on a congested highway,” said Mr. Mica, the ranking Republican on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “I applaud President Obama’s recognition that high-speed rail should be part of America’s future.”

Jennifer Crider, a spokeswoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, called the unlikely chorus of praise from Mr. Mica and other Republican lawmakers “the height of hypocrisy.”

Rusty Roberts, chief of staff to Mr. Mica, disagreed. “Certainly it’s possible to oppose the entire bill on principle and favor certain sections of it,” Mr. Roberts said.

Representative Don Young of Alaska, for example, praised the stimulus as “a victory for the Alaska Native contracting program and other Alaska small-business owners.” And Representative Leonard Lance of New Jersey, after touring a flood-control project in his district that could receive stimulus financing, pronounced it “shovel ready.”

Representative Peter Hoekstra of Michigan sounded almost giddy on Wednesday in a post on the microblogging Web site Twitter: “If you know of someone thinking of buying first home, now may be the time. Stimulus incentive is very generous! Up to 8k! Check it out.”

Mr. Hoekstra, who also voted against the bill, appeared less optimistic last week. “House passed spending bill. I don’t believe it will work,” Mr. Hoekstra wrote on Twitter. “Hope we’re wrong but I don’t think so.”

that mentality only works if..
we actually are all in this together. it doesn't work too well if half of us are working and half of us are not. Right now in the US it is the working people supporting the ones who don't. don't get me wrong, I am totally in favor of helping anyone who can't but not one bit if favor of supporting those who won't. Nope, I am not in it together with those who won't.
Funny how that works.............
You seem to be determined to "explain" Obama's intention with his "quotes", that he is only trying to promote peace in some way, yet he sat in Rev WRight's church while HATE was being spewed from the pulpit left and right and he didn't seem to have any problem with hate speeches NOR did he have a problem with his daughters listening to hate speeches!

Yep, he's all about peace and understanding alright....
