Let me categorically state that
prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law if he is indicted and found guilty. The evidence so far looks pretty convincing. I will be reserving further comment until the story has matured a bit, other than to say that if he did what they say he did, he gives all liberal democrats a bad name (fair or not) and deserves to go down.

For the sake of clarity, I am an AVID Obama supporter and am as left as they come. I think Illinois and Chicago should continue to strive to clean up their plates (as they have been trying to do) until they get it right. Having said that, let's not pretend here that the GOP is squeaky clean in this arena:

1. Ted Stevens, AL senior senator, abuse of power, failure to repot gifts, making false statements, possible misuse of federal funds.
2. Tom DeLay, TX former representative and majority leader, money laundering
3. Bob Ney, OH rep, bribery.
4. Randy Cunningham, CA rep, bribery.
5. Scooter Libby, Cheney Chief of Staff, assistant to president, obstruction of justice, perjury, making false statements.
6. J. Seven Guile, Deputy Sect of the Interior for W, obstruction of justice.
7. Mark Foley, FL rep, sex scandal involving 16-year-old white house page.
8. Bill First, TN senator, conflict of interest in stock holdings
9. Curt Weldon, PA rep, trading political influence for lobbying contracts
10. Dennis Hastert, former speaker of the house and IL rep, Mark Foley coverup, taking illegal contributions.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the general drift.

Laws vary state-to-state

Many people were confined against their will just because someone wanted them "out of the way." These were normal people with no mental illness - that is why it is so difficult - don't blame the liberals. Blame your state.

CONFINING THE MENTALLY ILL

In the legal space between what a society should and should not do, taking action to restrict the liberty of people who are mentally ill sits in the grayest of gray areas.

Our notions about civil and constitutional rights flow from an assumption of "normalcy." Step beyond the boundaries and arrest and prison may legally follow. Short of that, government's ability to hold people against their will is severely and properly limited. Unusual behavior on the part of someone who is mentally ill is not illegal behavior. Freedom can't be snatched away on a whim, or on the thought that a person is hard to look at, hard to hear, hard to smell.

It was only a few decades ago that the promise of new medications and a change in attitude opened the doors of the mental hospitals and sent many patients into society. There, they would somehow "normalize" and join everyone else, supported by networks of out-patient facilities, job training, special living arrangements and regular, appropriate medication. But the transition has been imperfect, long and difficult.

In some parts of urban America there is little professional support for those with mental health problems. A new generation of drug and alcohol-fueled mental illness has come on the scene. People frequently end up on the street, un-medicated and exhibiting a full range of behaviors that are discomforting at the very least and threatening at their worst.

Red state, blue state?

Written last Thanksgiving:  "Some would argue that two different nations actually celebrated: upright, moral, traditional red America and the dissolute, liberal blue states clustered on the periphery of the heartland. The truth, however, is much more complicated and interesting than that.

Take two iconic states: Texas and Massachusetts. In some ways, they were the two states competing in the last election. In the world's imagination, you couldn't have two starker opposites. One is the homeplace of Harvard, gay marriage, high taxes, and social permissiveness. The other is Bush country, solidly Republican, traditional, and gun-toting. Massachusetts voted for Kerry over Bush 62 to 37 percent; Texas voted for Bush over Kerry 61 to 38 percent.

So ask yourself a simple question: which state has the highest divorce rate? Marriage was a key issue in the last election, with Massachusetts' gay marriages becoming a symbol of alleged blue state decadence and moral decay. But in actual fact, Massachusetts has the lowest divorce rate in the country at 2.4 divorces per 1,000 inhabitants. Texas - which until recently made private gay sex a criminal offence - has a divorce rate of 4.1. A fluke? Not at all. The states with the highest divorce rates in the U.S. are Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas. And the states with the lowest divorce rates are: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Every single one of the high divorce rate states went for Bush. Every single one of the low divorce rate states went for Kerry. The Bible Belt divorce rate, in fact, is roughly 50 percent higher than the national average.

Some of this discrepancy can be accounted for by the fact that couples tend to marry younger in the Bible Belt - and many clearly don't have the maturity to know what they're getting into. There's some correlation too between rates of college education and stable marriages, with the Bible Belt lagging a highly educated state like Massachusetts. But the irony still holds. Those parts of America that most fiercely uphold what they believe are traditional values are not those parts where traditional values are healthiest. Hypocrisy? Perhaps. A more insightful explanation is that these socially troubled communities cling onto absolutes in the abstract because they cannot live up to them in practice.

But doesn't being born again help bring down divorce rates? Jesus, after all, was mum on the subject of homosexuality, but was very clear about divorce, declaring it a sin unless adultery was involved. A recent study, however, found no measurable difference in divorce rates between those who are "born again" and those who are not. 29 percent of Baptists have been divorced, compared to 21 percent of Catholics. Moreover, a staggering 23 percent of married born-agains have been divorced twice or more. Teen births? Again, the contrast is striking. In a state like Texas, where the religious right is extremely strong and the rhetoric against teenage sex is gale-force strong, the teen births as a percentage of all births is 16.1 percent. In liberal, secular, gay-friendly Massachusetts, it's 7.4, almost half. Marriage itself is less popular in Texas than in Massachusetts. In Texas, the percent of people unmarried is 32.4 percent; in Massachusetts, it's 26.8 percent. So even with a higher marriage rate, Massachusetts manages a divorce rate almost half of its "conservative" rival.

Or take abortion. America is one of the few Western countries where the legality of abortion is still ferociously disputed. It's a country where the religious right is arguably the strongest single voting bloc, and in which abortion is a constant feature of cultural politics. Compare it to a country like Holland, perhaps the epitome of socially liberal, relativist liberalism. So which country has the highest rate of abortion? It's not even close. America has an abortion rate of 21 abortions per 1,000 women aged between 15 and 44. Holland has a rate of 6.8. Americans, in other words, have three times as many abortions as the Dutch. Remind me again: which country is the most socially conservative?

Even a cursory look at the leading members of the forces of social conservatism in America reveals the same pattern. The top conservative talk-radio host, Rush Limbaugh, has had three divorces and an addiction to pain-killers. The most popular conservative television personality, Bill O'Reilly, just settled a sex harassment suit that indicated a highly active adulterous sex life. Bill Bennett, the guru of the social right, was for many years a gambling addict. Karl Rove's chief outreach manager to conservative Catholics for the last four years, Deal Hudson, also turned out to be a man with a history of sexual harassment. Bob Barr, the conservative Georgian congressman who wrote the "Defense of Marriage Act," has had three wives so far. The states which register the highest ratings for the hot new television show, "Desperate Housewives," are all Bush-states.

The complicated truth is that America truly is a divided and conflicted country. But it's a grotesque exaggeration to say that the split is geographical, or correlated with blue and red states. Many of America's biggest "sinners" are those most intent on upholding virtue. In fact, it may be partly because they know sin so close-up that they want to prevent its occurrence among others. And some of those states which have the most liberal legal climate - the Northeast and parts of the upper MidWest - are also, in practice, among the most socially conservative. To ascribe all this to "hypocrisy" seems to me too crude an explanation. America is simply a far more complicated and diverse place than crude red and blue divisions can explain.

I don't know what state you live in but in my state

they are adding police and only in the big cities do they have paid firemen. The rest are volunteers.

I look at it this way: If a state can't stay in the black, then they have to cut spending some place that wouldn't jeopardize the safety of the citizens. Threats of cutting essential services like Barney Fife stated today are unjustified. Cut the non-essential services first.

Our governor talks about cutting back on services, laying off government workers, which I think is a good idea because government is too big anyway, but then he turns around and spends more money on non-essential items. Doesn't make sense.

What website did this come from?

I can take a guess.

Is there a website?
Do you know of websites where you can find out what others thing.

I am not voting for these two candidates and no one is even talking about the Independent candidates or any others. This is a really biased election.
website
www.barackobama.com-pdf-ObamaBlueprintForChange. I haven't read all the way through it yet, so I can't say any of it is actually doable or realistic. I think it's actually a very well put together thesis, but as far as a plan goes, I'm not so sure yet. Anyway, food for thought.
I can go to his website...
the question was about the economic crisis, not what his economic policies were prior to the crisis. Since the crisis he has said he doesn't know if he can go forward with all his plans...and when asked to be more specific, he can't. Which means zip, zilch, nada.

John McCain's Higher Education Policy

Prepare for the 21st Century in Higher Education
America is facing increased competition from overseas like never before. Higher education is as much a part of that competition as the job sector, and we must rise to the challenge and modernize our universities so that they retain their status as producers of the most skilled workforce in the world. The answer is not to impose more regulations on institutions, but to encourage the government to support innovative approaches to education, removing regulatory barriers that prevent us from moving forward with new ideas.

Improve Information for Parents
Institutions report on hundreds of factors to the U.S. government every year, but the government does nothing with the information. Making this information available to families in a clear and concise manner will help more students make more informed choices about higher education.

Simplify Higher Education Tax Benefits
The existing tax benefits are too complicated, and many eligible families don’t claim them. By simplifying the existing benefits, I can ensure that a greater number of families have a lower tax burden when they are helping to send their children to college.

Simplify Federal Financial Aid
Too many programs and a complicated application process deter many eligible students from seeking student aid. The number of programs also makes it more difficult for financial aid officers to help students navigate the process. Consolidating programs will help simplify the administration of these programs, and help more students have a better understanding of their eligibility for aid.

Improve Research by Eliminating Earmarks
Earmarking is destroying the integrity of federally funded research. Billions of dollars are spent on pork barrel projects every year; significant amounts come from research budgets. Eliminating earmarks would immediately and significantly improve the federal government’s support for university research.

Fix the Student Lending Programs
We have seen significant turmoil in student lending. John McCain has proposed an expansion of the lender-of-last resort capability of the federal student loan system and will demand the highest standard of integrity for participating private lenders. Effective reforms and leveraging the private sector will ensure the necessary funding of higher education aspirations, and create a simpler and more effective program in the process.

John McCain's Plan for Strengthening America's Schools

Today, John McCain Outlined His Vision For Strengthening Education To Ensure Opportunity For Every American. John McCain's education policy removes needless bureaucracy, empowers parents, teachers and principals and ensures that every child has the opportunity to gain from a quality education.

John McCain's Education Principles:

John McCain Will Enact Meaningful Reform In Education. Now is the time to demand real, new reform earned through discipline, grinding work, tough choices and leadership. John McCain has dedicated his career in public service to the hard and sometimes unpopular work of achieving meaningful reform.

The Education System Must Provide For Equality Of Choice. Too many of our children are trapped by geography and by economics in failing schools.

We Must Empower Parents. Involved and empowered parents and excellent teachers are the two greatest determining factors in a child's education. If we are to succeed, we must empower committed parents with critical knowledge about their child's performance, and empower them with real and meaningful choices to act upon that knowledge.

We Must Empower Teachers. If America is to truly reform public education and make good on the promise of individual freedom and independence through knowledge, we must ensure that every child has the opportunity to be inspired and motivated to achieve their potential by a strong classroom leader.

John McCain's Education Policy:

John McCain Will Build On The Lessons Of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). There should be an emphasis on standards and accountability. However, our goal cannot be group averages. Instead, our focus should be to inspire every child to strive to reach his or her potential. While NCLB has been invaluable in providing a clear picture of which schools and students are struggling, it is only the beginning of education reform.

John McCain Will Provide Effective Education Leadership. John McCain is committed to high standards and accountability, but he is also committed to providing the resources needed to succeed. He believes we should invest in people, parents and reward achievement.

John McCain Will Work To Ensure That Our Children Have Quality Teachers. The single biggest challenge in turning around a failing school is getting quality teachers into that school. To overcome this challenge, John McCain will:

Encourage Alternative Certification Methods That Open The Door For Highly Motivated Teachers To Enter The Field. John McCain will devote five percent of Title II funding to states to recruit teachers who graduate in the top 25 percent of their class or who participate in an alternative teacher recruitment program such as Teach for America, the New York City Teaching Fellowship Program, the New Teacher Project, or excellent university initiatives.

Provide Bonuses For Teachers Who Locate In Underperforming Schools And Demonstrate Strong Leadership As Measured By Student Improvement. John McCain will devote 60 percent of Title II funding for incentive bonuses for high performing teachers to locate in the most challenging educational settings, for teachers to teach subjects like math and science, and for teachers who demonstrate student improvement. Payments will be made directly to teachers. Funds should also be devoted to provide performance bonuses to teachers who raise student achievement and enhance the school-wide learning environment. Principals may also consider other issues in addition to test scores such as peer evaluations, student subgroup improvements, or being removed from the state's "in need of improvement" list.

Provide Funding For Needed Professional Teacher Development. Where federal funds are involved, teacher development money should be used to enhance the ability of teachers to perform in today's technology driven environment. We need to provide teachers with high quality professional development opportunities with a primary focus on instructional strategies that address the academic needs of their students. The first 35 percent of Title II funding would be directed to the school level so principals and teachers could focus these resources on the specific needs of their schools.

John McCain Believes We Must Empower School Principals With Greater Control Over Spending. Funding cannot be effectively apportioned in Washington, but it shouldn't be a state-level official or district bureaucrat either. The money must be controlled by the leader we hold accountable: the school principal with a single criterion to raise student achievement.

John McCain Will Make Real The Promise Of NCLB By Giving Parents Greater Choice. Choice is the best way to protect children against a failing bureaucracy. But parents must have more control over the money.

John McCain Will Expand The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program. In our nation's capital, we have seen the dramatic benefits of giving parents control of money and choices. The Opportunity Scholarship program serves more than 1,900 students from families with an average income of $23,000 a year. More than 7,000 more families have applied for that program. The budget for the Opportunity Scholarships is currently $13 million. John McCain believes that this extremely successful program should expand to at least $20 million benefiting nearly a thousand more families.

John McCain Will Ensure Children Struggling To Meet State Standards Will Have Immediate Access To High Quality Tutoring Programs. Local school districts can certify education service providers but providers can also bypass the local bureaucracy and receive direct federal certification. Education service providers can then market directly to parents. Title I money will be directed straight to the provider.

John McCain Supports Expanding Virtual Learning By Reforming The "Enhancing Education Through Technology Program." John McCain will target $500 million in current federal funds to build new virtual schools and support the development of online course offerings for students. These courses may be for regular coursework, for enhancement, or for dual enrollment into college.

John McCain Will Allocate $250 Million Through A Competitive Grant Program To Support States That Commit To Expanding Online Education Opportunities. States can use these funds to build virtual math and science academies to help expand the availability of AP Math, Science, and Computer Sciences courses, online tutoring support for students in traditional schools, and foreign language courses.

John McCain Will Offer $250 Million For Digital Passport Scholarships To Help Students Pay For Online Tutors Or Enroll In Virtual Schools. Low-income students will be eligible to receive up to $4,000 to enroll in an online course, SAT/ACT prep course, credit recovery or tutoring services offered by a virtual provider. Providers could range from other public schools, virtual charter schools, home school parents utilizing virtual schooling resources or district or state sponsored virtual schools. The Department of Education would competitively award the funds to a national scholarship administrator who would manage the student applications, monitoring, and evaluation of providers.

Great website!

I think the folks interviewed regarding Krgzystan (spelling?) definitely drank WAY too much Koolaid.

Great website.
I especially enjoyed the other topics such as 'Disney Does Democrats' and 'Starbucks and Mermaid Teats.'  Yes, I am sure whatever that site has to say is 300% true.
Yes, you must have permission of that website to cut...sm

Website recommendation. sm

As far as I can tell the below website is truly bipart.  You will find info., dirt, whatever you want to call it on both sides.  The front page does have more Rep. stuff at the moment, but that is because the RNC just go over with.  It was just the opposite after the DNC.  If anyone knows if it is not bipart. let me know as I have referred a few friends to it.  If the site has already been posted, I apologize; I've been off the computer up until today.  Here it is:

Whenyou get there, click on the clip of the documentary.  Very illuminating...and not all that surprising.

Take this website and stick it

Can I get a witness, i mean website

I'm looking for a site that details these "bailout plans".  I want to know what Capitol Hill wants to do with my tax money.  Can anyone direct me to a website that is strictly factual, not politically driven to bias me to 1 party of the other, that would lay out the exact plan?

Website I'd like to share...

Disclaimer:  It will probably not appeal to the McCain supporters, so need for you make snarky remarks about it.

I don't even know how I ended up at this site, but it has so many topics on it, instead of recommending a link just to one or two, I'll give the whole page.  Be sure to scroll down.

Would anyone else like to share their favorite websites that are lib or nonpartisan?  TIA

An interesting website

I came across this.  There are too many similarities.  I'm not saying they are alike, but some other people have found these similarities.  I for one found the most shocking part of it in the campaign poster from back then (same motto - I think Obama should have done some research first and picked a different motto).

Messiah website...

No, I only just saw this website just now too...someone else posted it....sm
I only posted the article by Col. North because I like how he writes.

But it does look like there are people out there that think this way. I had no idea this website existed either, until just now. oh boy....good grief is definitely right.
I believe it is a website pointing out that there are...
people out there who do believe he is the "messiah." Not necessarily sent from God, but has become a deity to them. Did you read all the quotes on the site? Those are real quotes from real people...Obama DID use that "presidential seal" depicted there until people got outraged and he stopped using it. It is very, very concerning. And I think the answer is yes...there are a lot of people out there mesmerized by him. NO matter WHAT comes out of his mouth, they believe it. Did you see the star-gazed way they look at him? The kids "singing for their leader?" Wayyyy too freaky for me. Of course, I was not going to vote for him anyway because he is a flaming socialist, but this site would have given me serious pause if I had even thought about voting for him. Just my opinion.
And then you can tell her the real website
http://www.johnmccain.com/
This is from the LATimes website
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-video30-2008oct30,0,1408449.story

This is just an excerpt:

Editors at The Times and the reporter who wrote an article in April about Obama's connection to the Palestinian scholar, Rashid Khalidi, said they were ethically bound to abide by a promise to a confidential source not to share the video.

So they definitely do have the video, they are just "ethically bound" to not share it.

Since when does the news care about ethics? They are just loving the controversy and I'm sure their sales are up from everyone making a big hoopla about them.
might check his website,

They posted the website
It is just above the reply by email option. It is nice when people actually post links correctly. Thank you.
Did you ever think to check his website to see exactly
what this issue is about. The article sounds like it was written by Oral Roberts to tell you the truth. If something does not look nor sound right to me, I usually ignore. You ought to do the same and quit getting worked up over something that probably does not have a leg to stand on. In other words, ridiculous.
Amen...does he have a website?
Possibly peppering him with emails on suggestions we can present to our representatives and also employ ourselves would be beneficial.

Synopsis of film from its website.

The first film of its kind to chronicle the reasons behind Iraq’s descent into guerilla war, warlord rule, criminality and anarchy, NO END IN SIGHT is a jaw-dropping, insider’s tale of wholesale incompetence, recklessness and venality. Based on over 200 hours of footage, the film provides a candid retelling of the events following the fall of Baghdad in 2003 by high ranking officials such as former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, Ambassador Barbara Bodine (in charge of Baghdad during the Spring of 2003), Lawrence Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff to Colin Powell, and General Jay Garner (in charge of the occupation of Iraq through May 2003) as well as Iraqi civilians, American soldiers, and prominent analysts. NO END IN SIGHT examines the manner in which the principal errors of U.S. policy – the use of insufficient troop levels, allowing the looting of Baghdad, the purging of professionals from the Iraqi government, and the disbanding of the Iraqi military – largely created the insurgency and chaos that engulf Iraq today. How did a group of men with little or no military experience, knowledge of the Arab world or personal experience in Iraq come to make such flagrantly debilitating decisions? NO END IN SIGHT dissects the people, issues and facts behind the Bush Administration’s decisions and their consequences on the ground to provide a powerful look into how arrogance and ignorance turned a military victory into a seemingly endless and deepening nightmare of a war.

“I think this decision to disband the [Iraqi] Army came as a surprise to most of us…”
 Q:  What was your reaction?
“I thought we had just created a problem. We had a lot of out of work
  [Iraqi] soldiers.”
– our interview with Richard Armitage, former Deputy Secretary of State

NO END SIGHT alternates between U.S. policy decisions and Iraqi consequences, systematically dissecting the Bush Administration’s decisions.  The consequences of those decisions now include 3,000 American deaths and 20,000 American wounded, Iraq on the brink of civil war, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilian deaths, the strengthening of Iran, the weakening of the U.S. military, and economic costs of over $2 trillion. It marks the first time Americans will be allowed inside the White House, Pentagon, and Baghdad’s Green Zone to understand for themselves what has become the disintegration of Iraq.

His website states his ideas and how he
I was undecided until McCain picked Palin.  C'mon people - she was the mayor of a town with 9,000 people.  God forbid if something should happen to McCain - would you want her to step in.  It's Obama for me - I've always liked Joe Biden - he doesn't think he's above everyone else and even commutes to and from work like us "normal" folk.
I went to the actual Il. gov. website and read the - sm
actual bill, not just the parts that this sweetness-light.com website put on there. The whole bill starts out saying that parents first have to sign a consent form in order for their children to participate. As you are reading through the bill it states, "All course material and instruction shall be age and developmentally appropriate."

Sam, do you honestly think he is supporting teaching the same sex ed that you might get in high school to Kindergartners. I mean really.

You are always mentioning these leftist sites like Huffington, well this is clearly an all conservative site. I didn't go through it all, but it doesn't seem to be very objective.
The figures taken were from the US Treasury's website
Whether you want to believe it or not this info comes directly from the US Treasury website. You can't make up the figures no matter what political party you belong to.

I know lots of people were in love with Clinton and thought him to be a good president. I too voted for him the first time (after 2 months realized his agenda and got the heck out of the democrat party), but figures don't lie. I guess you didn't finish reading it because you didn't like that it favored the Clinton.

I just go by the facts and I don't care who it favors. I am one of the very few who want to know truth and would like some decent politicians.

Unfortunately we don't have any decent politicians - not one, nada.

They are all liars and crooks and thieves. It's just how they all spin everything.

As for Global warming? If you believe in that I guess you still believe the world is flat. That has been debunked by top scientist. Don't people get that. Scientists...people who have degrees. People who have studied climatology. People who are educated. They all say the earth is in a cooling trend, not warming. AL Gore has not studied this. He wrote a book filled with lies and misinformation and everyone who felt he was cheated out of the president (which even though I was against Bush know this isn't true), but feel sorry for the guy fine, but don't buy into his fantasies (just like he invented the internet and he and Tipper were the role models for the guy who wrote Love Story). Al Gore is a megalomaniac. You know, just cos your ice cube melts faster in your drink doesn't mean this is global warming. If it's global warming tell me then can you dispute these news articles:

Those are just a few. You have got to open your eyes and look at things objectively. Al Gore knows absolutely crapola about global warming. He has an agenda. He's becoming richer and richer off of the whole thing. He is benefitting from people buying "carbon credits". He invested big time in the company and gets kickbacks from all the suckers who believe it.

P.S. - I am certainly not going to take any advice telling me I have to cut back on energy when their driving around in SUVs, limos, fuel eating buses, and who knows how many planes.
He has as many specifics on his website as Obama does...
if you care to look.

This has all crystallized for me to one specific issue...socialism and a radical leftwing agenda. Obama is the first most liberal senator on his voting record, Biden is 3rd. Obama has a socialist agenda. That is obvious. And he will push that agenda, and he will have a majority democrat congress to help him push that agenda. THAT is a fact. If you want the USSA, vote for Obama, certainly your right. I will not be in any way responsible for putting that man and his agenda in the white house. Not in this lifetime.

You do whatever you want. If you want socialism, vote for him. I don't, I won't.
It is just a cut and paste of the Obama website, Just...sm
try to click on any of the links, nada, nothing. No credability.
Instead of cutting and pasting, what website is this from? nm

thanks for the website, i'll look at it when i get a chance...
we can kindly agree to disagree; i am tired of the hate and negativity here! hope you have a good day!
I was quoting from a Jewish website publication.
It wasn't "my statement."  And it made perfect sense if you had read the article.  The Gaza strip pull-out was not instigated by the settlers who were moved but by their government which is ISRAELI and is therefore JEWISH.  You should read the news a little more.
Go to the Trinity website and read their doctrine...
no amount of good deeds cover racism. The man is a racist and thinks Louis Farrakhan is a great man. Louis Farrakhan,Nation of Islam...need I say more? (Talking about Wright, not Obama). He was not "associated" with Trinity. He was a member. Wright baptized at least one of his children. Obama stated Wright was his mentor. There was clearly much more than an "association" and at first Obama defended him, until his handlers told him that he would tank his Presidential bid, then he started distancing himself. That is the real Barack Obama, the politician. Win at all costs, even if you throw your lifelong mentor/friend under the bus. That sounds more like the "same old Washington" to me than hope and change. Sorry...that's the way I feel. As I have said before, I would like to sit both of them down, inject a little sodium pentothal and let regular folks ask them some questions. No news commentators, not pundits, just regular off-the-street folks. THEN and only THEN will we know what Obama really feels and thinks. And how he really feels and thinks is how he will govern. Surely we have learned that by now as far as politicians go. How many have actually done what they said they were going to do...?

I will not be voting for Obama, because I don't like his voting record, which does not match what he is saying now (which, in me, automatically arouses mistrust), I am not comfortable with is associations in south Chicago including his Daley connections, and I think both he and his wife have racist tendencies. He may be 1/2 white and 1/2 black, but he considers himself black and you can bet the farm Michelle considers him black as well. Read up a little on her. Wowser.

And just because Reverend Wright lived in a generation where life in America was different...America IS different now. Preaching hate from the pulpit is not consistent with the Christianity I know, and I don't care if it is a white racist in South Mississippi doing it or a black racist in Chicago doing it...it is still wrong in my books. God said many would come as wolves in sheep's clothing...and many would identify themselves with His name (Christians), but they would not be of Him. It should be obvious by how they live their lives both in the pulpit and outside it, and I believe Reverend wright's actions speak for themselves. As do the KKK, who also profess that they are doing God's work. Both of them seriously delusional, and seriously racist. And both wrong. In my opinion. But, that is an attitude, on both sides, that we don't need running this country. We have a virulent racist in Congress right now...Robert Byrd, Dem from W VA I believe. Was an imperial wizard in the Klan. Has had numerous verbal racist gaffes over the year, but his state keeps sending him back. SIGH. Oh well...that was not the subject.

I just hope people get past the packaging on Obama and try to get inside the box. Not nearly as pretty on the inside....again, my opinion after research and no, I do not get it from Fox News...lol. I have read Obama's books, and I am reading other books now concerning him, and if I see something in the book that is stated as fact I am verifying it. If you want to know the real Obama, look deep.
From Alaska fish and game website....
Wolves and bears are very effective and efficient predators on caribou, moose, deer and other wildlife. In most of Alaska, humans also rely on the same species for food. In Alaska's Interior, predators kill more than 80 percent of the moose and caribou that die during an average year, while humans kill less than 10 percent. In most of the state, predation holds prey populations at levels far below what could be supported by the habitat in the area. Predation is an important part of the ecosystem, and all ADF&G wolf management programs, including control programs, are designed to sustain wolf populations in the future.

The Alaska Board of Game approves wildlife regulations through a public participation process. When the Board determines that people need more moose and/or caribou in a particular area, and restrictions on hunting aren't enough to allow prey populations to increase, predator control programs may be needed. Wolf hunting and trapping rarely reduces wolf numbers enough to increase prey numbers or harvests.

Currently, five wolf control programs are underway that comprises about 9.4% of Alaska's land area. The programs use a closely controlled permit system allowing aerial or same day airborne methods to remove wolves in designated areas. In these areas, wolf numbers will be temporarily reduced, but wolves will not be permanently eliminated from any area. Successful programs allow humans to take more moose, and healthy populations of wolves to continue to thrive in Alaska.

You believe there is a hidden "reptilian invasion / agenda"?? Really? and those of us who don't see it are the deluded ones?
OMG! We just had an ad on this site for a "Muslim matrimonial" website.

It was muslima.com or something like that.

I urge everyone to visit a website called optruth.org

The following was copied from the website:

Operation Truth is a non-profit 501c(4), non-partisan veterans' organization that seeks to amplify the soldiers' voice in the American public dialogue. Paul Rieckhoff, a First Lieutenant in the Army Reserves, founded Operation Truth in June 2004, only months after he returned from a year-long tour in Iraq. As of January 2005, Operation Truth represents well over 300 OEF/OIF veterans, and has over 26,000 supporters.

This web site is a real eye opener.

Just to prove my point, from Crooks and Liars website. sm
Joe Scarborough: Republicans want him to SHUT UP

On Joe's show tonight, he went off on Republicans that do not like him speaking out against this administration's handling of Katrina.

Joe: I'm getting lectured from Republicans in Oregon, California, upstate New York, Arizona telling me I need to back off the President, I need to back off of FEMA, I need to back off these state leaders. You and I are on the Gulf Coast- we know how these things are supposed to be run. This has nothing to do with politics...

The Republicans are obviously worried that this Republican talk show host's point of view isn't following their talking points and is a real problem because he's not a Democrat saying them. Joe has been honest before (Schiavo not included) and is simply exposing their ineptitude that so many people are feeling right now.
