'Crone' is an unpleasant, ugly old woman.

'Codger' is used affectionately to refer to an 'eccentric but amusing old man.'

Crone is much more condescending than codger.
To call TS a 'codger' is too flattering.

And....
Not all 'older' women are unpleasant and ugly.
