I would just tell them you don't want to discuss it. Tell them you don't feel comfortable about talking politics since everyone is so heated this election.

And honestly, if they are really your friends, you shouldn't have to worry about losing them over an election. Especially if you've already told them you don't want to talk about it. I know it's aggravating, as I have a lot of ultra liberal friends but I'm more conservative and they are all upset that I'm not voting for Obama. But I just tell them it's my choice and they will just have to get over it. That's why we VOTE.

And to gourdpainter: Now you know that Mccain and Palin have been picked on just as much, if not more, than Obama! You know better, Ms. Independent! :-)
