What is a jive turkey? nm

and you sing like a turkey

Jive Turkey was another one
A young man testified yesterday he had registered 73 times with ACORN because they kept coming up to him and begging him to sign up, even after he told them he had already registered. They make money off every signature, so they don't care if they are performing illegal acts. The ones supervising them know this is going on, as does Obama, but strange there hasn't been an FBI investigation ito this, considering even Democrat election officials are screaming "foul play" because they are seeing all these illegal registrations in important "swing states"...... coincidence? I don't think so.
Turkey/Kurds/Iraq

Clinton's fault, of course.

bush and pardoned turkey

Seeing that guy doing silly photo ops while people are struggling does not bring me a warm, fuzzy feeling.  He was not so cute and cuddly when the woman on death row was begging for her life and he sneered in a high-pitched voice "help me, help me . . ."   I read about his life before he was reelected and I knew that he was going to be one of the top 3 worst presidents we ever had. Even I misunderestimated the depth of his ineptitude.

I'm sorry, but are you comparing an embryo, fetus to a turkey?!?!? And you think it is funny?!?!

I wonder if I'm the only one who finds your idea of a joke offensive.  Just when I was ready to be offended by "blob of tissue" you chime in with your turkey joke.  I'm stunned sometimes at the callousness of some people.  I don't know why I would be stunned considering the world we live in, but I still am from time to time.  Thank my Heavenly Father!  I wouldn't want to be so cold.

Those "blobs of tissue" have heartbeats.  Those "blobs of tissue" have such beauty and such potential.  Those "blobs of tissue" are alive.

Thanksgiving...........sm

As I look back on the last few weeks that I have been posting on this board, it becomes even more apparent to me from the opinions expressed here that we live in a country of such diversity, politically, culturally, economically and religiously and probably more so than at any time in our short history.  While we may not agree at times and may even argue heatedly at times over certain issues, we still have the freedom to hold our own opinions and express them freely and for that I am truly thankful.  As we move into unchartered waters, as we do with every presidential election, I hope that our ability to be able to express our opinions will continue to remain intact and that we are able to come here and enjoy a good natured debate as doing so has forced me to  really examine my opinions and what they are based on and to learn to listen to the opinions of others and how their opinions are formulated.

I love my country and I love the people who make up this great nation, even though I may not agree with everyone's opinions all of the time.  It is my prayer that America can go forth another 232 years as a great nation comprised of great people who, like me, love our country.  I pray that none of us, regardless of our personal opinions or political leanings, will ever take our freedoms for granted, for it is then that we are at our most vunerable and at risk of losing those freedoms that we all hold so dear.

So it is with these thoughts that I sincerely wish each and every person reading and/or posting here a very happy and safe Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I know we often don't agree on this board and sometimes don't get along.

However, I hope each and every poster has a wonderful, happy, healthy Thanksgiving.

At this point in time, we have much to be concerned about, but we also have much to be thankful for.  I personally am thankful for the mere fact that I'm still here and breathing and will enjoy another Thanksgiving with my family.

I hope in the year ahead that we can learn to get along with each other a little more, that respect and politeness will trump contempt and anger.  If we can manage that, then I will have that as an additional thing to be grateful for next Thanksgiving, if I'm fortunate enough to still be here a year from now.

Happy Thanksgiving GP! sm

And I'm so thankful we have a REPUBLICAN president....pretty cool huh?
and happy and safe Thanksgiving to you also - nm

glad you had a good Thanksgiving.
We had pizza. :oP
Just wishing happy Thanksgiving would have been great
and if the poster had just wished happy Thanksgiving that would have been great but he then continues to post that he is happy we have a republican president, on the liberal board.  That was a jab to a board where most of us are not happy with the incumbent president.  Also, the administrator has asked the conservative/republicans not to post on the liberal board.
George Washington Thanksgiving Proclamation 1789

George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation
(1789)

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted' for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have show kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3rd day of October, A.D. 1789.

G. Washington
