His postoperative course was complicated by prolonged postoperative ileus. He has Small bowel obstruction secondary to adhesions.
Hypokalemia.
Anemia.
Hypertension.
Ankylosing spondylitis.
Left tibial plateau fracture.

A small bowel series was performed alternating AP and PA studies at 15-minute intervals for 2 hours. The small bowel {s/l murals or better} and appears normal throughout. There is no unsual dilatation, segmentation, or mass lesion.

This entire one is kicking my butt, anyone have a clue what words could be filled in here?


HISTORY:  Abdominal pain.


FINDINGS:  (Gassy) (sounds like istiltation) is noted of the small bowel.  Degenerative changes noted within the (sounds like rockel) lumbar spine and (sounds like isolate destruction) is noted of the left tip.

I have been having trouble with hyphens lately. I usually have typed small-bowel disease. Now I get small bowel Crohn's disease and think that there should be no hyphen because it precedes an adjative and not a noun. Is this correct? Thanks all.

This mass extended above the umbilicus. We then did a wide transverse incision and dissected through the subcutaneous tissue and the fascia. We then saw a "rectus athesis" and we then dissected between this area and were able to dissect upward and downward.  Thank you.

procedure to me. There is one called the VAX-D, vertebral axial decompression. I do ortho and most of my docs are spine surgeons. I think this is what your doc is talking about. good luck.

ESL doctor- Past history:  Illnesses and surgeries:  Appendectomy, age 12.  Other on an oral decompression traumatic amputation of left hand index finger at midphalanx, long and ring finger at the proximal phalanx, middle finger at the second phalanx.


Not sure what highlighted is and if it is a thought of it's own or part of the amputation thought!

I'm stumped and probably should really know this, but can anyone tell me why small to moderate amount is not hyphenated? Why it does not meet the criteria for a compound modifier?
