I found apical fibrobullous disease on Google.
Subject: I found apical fibrobullous disease on Google.

He is probaby just saying it backwards. I would change to the apical fibrobullous.

We describe a patient who developed noninfectious apical fibrobullous disease 12 years after the diagnosis of seropositive, nodular, deforming rheumatoid arthritis. Fibrobullous disease of the pulmonary apices is a rare entity that is usually found in association with ankylosing spondylitis. Its appearance with rheumatoid arthritis has not been reported. Speculative factors which may predispose to apical fibrobullous disease, such as a stiff chest wall, impaired esophageal motiligy, and HL-A antigen B27, were not present in our patient.

Okay, I'm transcribing a SOAP note and this word that I'm trying to figure out is under the ASSESSMENT AND PLAN part. She says the word three times and I am now thinking she is saying something like "number next or number next is." What do you think?

(Normonaxis) Anemia may be caused from a recent epistaxis. He will start an iron pill daily over the counter called Fergon. Next visit we will check a hemoglobin, iron studies. (Normonax) He was in for right shoulder pain in the past. This was resolved. (Normonax) Recent qualm was treated with doxycycline.

Also, I was told to transcribe this using a straight SOAP format, but the doctor dictates things like "Review of Systems" and "Exam." I didn't think those headings or subheadings were in a SOAP format. She never dictates "Subjective" or "Objective," only "Assessment And Plan" as one heading towards the end of the report. Any advice?

I too love Google but be V_E_R_Y careful w/google
Subject: I too love Google but be V_E_R_Y careful w/google

Google is great for retrieving anything faster than the speed of light *lol* - but if the info comes from a nonverifiable medical website, be very wary.  There are a few I trust only...the NIH for one (Nat'l Institute of Health) and the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and a few others out of the government actually.

As for prescription places, I trusted rx.com for far too long, there are many more reliable drug websites out there... medilexicon.com is a great site and to confirm a proper name of a disease or things like that, there is whonamedit.com which, if you write to the site owner, can be added to (I have done some communication with the site owner so this is 100% true).

When I first started using google in MT work about 8 years ago as google is not that old, (got online 12 years ago, been an MT since 1980), I had looked up Spironolactone, and Google gave the spelling to me incorrectly and (who knew it was wrong?!?!??) I used their spelling and I was wrong.

So, only advice is be VERY CAREFUL what YOU CHOOSE to use as far as websites go regarding MT/ME work because in the end you're the one responsible....not google.
