Need help with ortho term for PIP fracture
Subject: Need help with ortho term for PIP fracture

My first post and I goofed it!  I just posted this on the Main Board when I saw the Word Board that might be more appropriate.  Thanks in advance!

I'm working on an ortho eval for a patient with a PIP fracture.  Doctor has dictated an unfamiliar term (there's always that ONE WORD) for me.  He dictates, "X-ray examination today shows impaction at the base of the middle phalanx with approximately 70% joint surface involvement."  Here's the word I don't know (spelled phonetically--Sorry):  "A syphiant(??) portion of the joint surface is translated dorsally."

If someone could point me in the right direction for finding this word, I would really appreciate it!

Ortho help - boxer's fracture
Subject: Ortho help - boxer's fracture

On examination today, he is 6 feet tall and weighs 145 pounds.  His hand is splinted.  The splint seems to fit well.  The rotation of the finger appears fine.  Neurovascular status of the finger is fine.  He cannot afford a __________.  (s/l turbi-kamp).

Later in the report he states that the patient cannot afford a prefabricated splint, so they are leaving his hospital splint on.  I'm sure this is a brand of a splint, but I've been searching all over and cannot find it.  The doc has a slight southern accent.   Any and all help is appreciate!  Thanks!

Coccidia (Coc·cid·ia) (kok-sidŽe-ə) [Gr. kokkos berry]  a subclass of parasitic protozoa (class Sporozoea, phylum Apicomplexa) found in both vertebrates, including humans, and higher invertebrates; see coccidiosis. Their life cycle involves merogony, gametogony, and sporogony, and gamonts are usually present, with mature gamonts being small and typically intracellular, without an epimerite or mucron. Syzygy does not usually occur, but if it does, it involves anisogamous gametes. The subclass comprises three orders: Agamococcidiida, Protococcidiida, and Eucoccidiida.
