the plane???  Doctor referring to patient that came in sick, coughing, sinus drainage,sore throat.  I have absolutely no idea!

At this point, careful carotid endarterectomy was done. It was begun at the common carotid artery. A wood plane was obtained and it was transected proximally and carried towards the bifurcation.
