Dosepak vs. dose pack
Subject: Dosepak vs. dose pack

I know this has been asked 100 times, but i would like some clarification advise from anyone willing to give it!!  Medrol Dosepak is a brand name and should be typed as such; however, i see so many times MTs typing Dosepak on things like prednisone and Sterapred.  I cannot verify that anything other than Medrol should be Dosepak but is there some sort of unwritten rule i missed???  Help!!  Any and all advise is appreciated.

Proper way to type height measurements
Subject: Proper way to type height measurements

What is the correct way to type height measurements.  For example, doctor says "5 foot 1 inch".  Normally when the number is pleural, it should be "feet", but the doctors always say "foot".  Also, is there a comma between the foot and inches.  Such as, "5 foot, 1 inch"?  TIA

Subject: Pack-a-day smoker versus pack-per-day smoker.

It would be either "He is a two-pack-a-day smoker" or "He is a two-pack-per-day smoker.

If doc dictates "a" use that; if "per" go with that. That's what I do anyway. It makes life simpler that way. :)

Hard 25 of Solu-Medrol
Subject: Hard 25 of Solu-Medrol

Hi, everyone.

I'm transcribing a report in which the doc says "Patient had a hard 25 of Solu-Medrol." At least I think that's what she said. Has anyone heard of this construction used before? I have no background info on this since it's an addendum to a report dictated earlier.

Sorry I don't have more info.

Thanks.

Proper grammer is "the patient looks good" unless the dictator is describing whether the patient looks sick or not, then obviously the patient looks well.
