But I thought all Transcend employees had to work

Posted By: at least 1 weekend day. sm on 2009-09-01

That doesn't make sense.  I could see that a lot of domestic MTs don't want to work 3rd shift and they need the coverage, but if all employees have to work at least 1 weekend day, there isn't much dictation over here on 3rd shift except for the occasional stats.  It would seem they wouldn't have enough work to keep the overseas MTs going.  I can't see an overseas service staying in business when they're only getting a few stats on each account for a couple hours on the weekend.

I thought Transcend did not offshore work.
x
Attn: Any Transcend employees or former employees
I have been offered a job with Transcend, but I am not completely sure about it yet and I need some input from you guys.  I have read positives and negatives regarding this company but alot of it was pretty old information.  Can anyone give me some recent feedback on them?    Thanks very much!!!
Transcend sent the employees....sm
an e-mail stating that they're planning to embark on a TEST PILOT with an offshore vendor for a very minimal amount of reports. This doesn't mean that the company will definitely decide to go that route permanently. Also they didn't state what country it would be -so those below guessing India may be wrong because there is transcription going out to other countries as well by various companies.

The company could have not said anything to the employees and no one would have known. Instead they chose to be open and honest and some people on the boards here want to knock an employer that is honest. They could have chosen to try to hide it like some of the others have.

I prefer up front honesty as opposed to behind the doors dealings any day with any company.
Hello Transcend employees
I did the testing today and received a response.  I have an interview this week and am very excited to hear what a stable company this is after reading the posts.  If the insurance is pretty good, not too high of a premium, I'll be extremely happy!  I applied for an eScription account, read that platform was good (yay).
How many employees does Transcend have? I have heard
3000 and 5000 and now 300.  Does anyone know?
Transcend's longtime employees

Ive read here that Transcend has a lot of employess who have been there a long time, they must be doing something right?  I see a lot of negative here about Transcend and so I am trying to even that out a little bit.  Also they do not offshore.  I wonder if the unhappy MTs from Transcend were MTs who didnt work there long and did not give them a chance?  Thoughts?

Current Transcend Employees
Would you refer a friend to Transcend at this point in time as one of the best to work for as far as nationals go?  Why or why not?
Question for Transcend employees (not ICs)

Is Transcend flexible about schedules for full time employees?  I want to work full time as an employee (not an IC, which I had thought I would try, but don't want the tax hassle), but I can't have a schedule that I have to be nailed down to (like 8 to 4 every day) - I will work my required hours per week, but I'm in college and my schedule changes every semester so I need to be able to go with the flow.  Any feedback?

Transcend gave the employees....sm
1. A gift card.
2. A card signed by the president, vice president and others in the office.
3. An announcement today about a matching 401(k) program starting in 2007.
Current Transcend employees - how about (sm)

their platform?  Is it anything like DocQScribe or is it like Dictaphone ExText?

Also, I understand there are schedules but is there any flexibility? Do they work with you if you need to change times for unexpected events, etc.?

Is the work pretty constant?  I know it fluctuates greatly this time of year, but am speaking generally.

Any other info appreciated.  E-mail if you wish.

TIA

Question for Transcend EMPLOYEES

I am trying to be optimistic and am looking forward to having benefits. I have not had benefits in YEARS...I also would love to have employee status with all my taxes taken out. Here is my concern... I cannot seem to get a clear answer on the pay scale. All I hear is that it depends... so many variable. Well, I know this. Some people need more insurance than other, etc., but what is the average cpl for straight type and what is the average cpl for VR. I do not see why that is so hard to answer. I know my pay will decrease automatically just due to the taxes being taken out that I am not used to and I assume that I will be paying for what ever insurance I get out of my paycheck as well, so why else would Transcend decrease my pay rate? Like I said, I am trying to have hope here and not panic, but I have bills to pay and I am not sure just how much I can afford to be an employee and have benefits even if I do want them.

Thanks in advance.

I thought Transcend was third but don't know for sure
x
Employees got a letter. Transcend is always first to come on here and deny
anything that is said that is not true. They are being very quiet about it. I also got one of the letters saying they are using an offshore trial. Do not know what the tie is being the moderator of this board and Transcend is, but sure looks like she does not want to apply the same standards to them that she does for other companies.
How is Transcend/MDI's medical insurance plan for employees?
Thanks
I strongly disagree; Transcend cares a lot for its employees
If you do not want to play the game, just ignore the e-mails. Or, you may find another company is better for you. No sense being miserable.
Current Transcend employees...what type of lines...sm
What type of line counts are you getting as far as VR on the Beyond Text platform?  I am rather new and not getting a very good line count and was wondering if there is light at the end of the tunnel.  I have gone through all the resources on the main website to help enhance line count, but not seeing much of a difference.  Thanks.
copied from email sent to current Transcend employees.
It does, however, provide additional opportunities as
we become a larger and more meaningful company. MDI was attracted to Transcend
because Transcend is widely recognized as the best company in the industry. MDI
is also very excited about Transcend’s technology, speech recognition successes,
and broad capacity to deliver services on a large scale.

This is a company big on VR. Hope you like it.
I thought this was the Transcend platform
that was supposed to be so great.
Transcend pays for experience and I thought the
They have quite a few accounts.  They are a large company.
Merry Christmas to you too! I think it is great that Transcend sends out gift cards to employees.
I wonder how many other companies do that. Let's see, with over 1000 transcriptionists that is 25,000.

Again, thank you Transcend!
Transcend bought MDI, so if Transcend sends work offshore, so does MDI. nm
nm
Ever thought of a home health care aide? Usually paid training and start work right away. Can work
m
yes, but I was told as an IC that if work was slow ICs get no work since they are nto employees
nm
I want to know why ICs are still allowed to work when employees aren't getting work!!!
ICs should be the first to get NJA!!!!
Did Keystrokes sell to Transcend? I thought Keystrokes was buying up companies sm
but I heard from another service owner that they sold out to Transcend. Anyone know if that happened?
Did Keystrokes sell to Transcend? I thought Keystrokes was buying sm

small companies but another service owner told me that she heard that Keystrokes sold to Transcend.  Is this true?

I posted this down below but meant to post it as a new thread.  Before I apply with them, I would like to know as I left Transcend a few months ago and do NOT want to get back into that mess.

I have always had work when everyone else does and am out when employees are out so I am not sure I
buy that story that employees get work first. I think that is not true. I have looked into that in my office and it is as I say on this message. We all have work or we dont and there is no employees work and SE dont.
Employees are guaranteed work before
Ask your supervisor
Employees that work hard
I am sure that this may be the case in some instances, but to lump sum all MTs/editors/employees is not fair and accurate.  I am a very hard working employee.  I work 7 days/nights/weekends every week.  I work and volunteer for ALL holidays even when not scheduled and I worked WHENEVER I was asked to work extra to cover for vacations or sickness.  I have not complained, I have always been SO thankful to have my job.  What did that result in?  Well, let me tell you.  I am now one of the Heartland Information Services laid off employees!!!!  It did not matter in the end how many hours/days/nights/weekends/holidays that I worked, I am no longer employed by the company I had planned to retire from!!  My loyality was betrayed and I am just supposed to keep going on and being loyal again?  Think about that one!  Respect and loyalty is a two way street.  Treat the employees how they want to be treated and you will be treated with respect and loyalty as well.  It cannot be low pay, minimal benefits and lay offs at a drop of a hat and in return expect absolute loyalty from employees.  We have to work together in the end.
To MDI-MD employees running out of work (sm)

Are you working on C-phone accounts or the internet platform?   I am just now in training, and I am wondering if I should re-think my decision. If there is new management in place and this is a direct result of such, I am now hesitant to continue.

What do you do if it is your scheduled weekend day to work. If you have set aside a certain time to work on a Saturday or Sunday and there is no work, do they expect you to continually check throughout the day in order to do your ''commitment?  There is no way I can do this as I have other commitments also and can't spend 12 hours trying to do 5 hours of work. I can only set aside a certain timeframe to transcribe on the weekend and if there is no work in those hours, I won't be able to get the lines done. Any insight you can shed would be so much appreciated.

That's because you're an IC. For employees, NOT flexible. And no work. nm
no msg
I think they do an excellent job of balancing work/employees.( sm)
Call or E-mail your supervisor and let him/her know. Came from MQ myself and I am not worried at all.

I came from MQ doing a main account of 900 plus beds so it was a shock to me to see the backlogs as low as they were on my accounts with Webmedx.

Trying to balance the work flow with employees must be an absolute nightmare. So many variables.

Good luck, call and talk to somebody. These are the nicest people who seem to really value their employees. What a change huh?

I don't work there, but I thought
your summary sounded quite realistic.

I don't work for his company, but if he really wants to buy up companies, he could save a lot of time by just buying one - MedQuist. Then he could leave the good companies alone, LOL.
I work for another company that advertises for new employees often with the same reaction. Maybe s
those who are NOT in-the-know should keep their opinions to themselves unless they know facts. The company I work for is hiring over 100 MTs as well due to two new accounts between now and the end of the year too. Maybe a few of the biggies have lost a few accounts that the mid-size MTSOs can handle in a more personal manner. Perhaps hospitals are FINALLY getting tired of the offshore garbage they are getting back from some of the other nationals. Either way, there are some major accounts changing services and a few of the mid-size MTSOs will need to pull from the transcriptionists out there looking for a better job!
Employees work a specific shift at TransTech?
Or do you just have to commit to a certain number of lines per day?  An an IC with my current company, I commit to X number of lines per day, and as long as I get them done within 24 hours, I've met my commitment.  Don't want shift work, i.e. 7-3, 3-11, 11-7.  There is absolutely no flexibility in that.  Noticed in post before this that Diskriter requires a shift commitment or a split shift.
Actually, having employees work at home is a benefit...TO THE COMPANY
more than the employee. The company doesn't have to pay for office space, electricity, etc.....
I get it now. I thought you were subbing out all your work, and thus just getting like 2 to 3 cpl

profit to run your company!  I get it now!!  I wasn't looking at it from the perspective of you transcribing it, too, which makes a lot more sense! Thanks for explaining!

I thought you didn't work for MQ????????

MQ is not for the transcriptionist.

MQ is for the company.

I wouldn't get any work done, but the thought of sm
of a food pedal is great..... Hmm, could make a ton of money.....Where's that patent list???? LOL!!! Nice to have fun on this board once in a while.
I thought it was just the ones who work in SHINE sm
that felt we might be losing in this merger.  Thanks for letting me know I am not alone!
I also work for Transhealth and love it. Most ex-employees do gripe if they were fired for some rea
You cant always believe what you hear. If they are disgruntled, they will say anything about a place to try to get back.

Some people just hold grudges.
If you work for DR they send a form letter to all employees about bonuses.sm
If you work for them and are eligle, they send a form letter out letting everyone know how it was figured.

YEE GADS the old bitty's are out today.
I did that - and was denied a bonus! There was no work, I thought will

later, typed, typed earlier than my schedule the next day, next day also during my schedule no work, - heck I wasn't going to sit there in front of a computer dialing every 2 minutes for 5 hours.

Then I get a call that I didn't work my shift.  I said there was no work.  In fact there was no work all week, was lucky to get the lines I did.  Bonus denied.

I will never help them out in a pinch again (they called me to do the bonus!) and I will never sign on when they are drowning to do "bonus".  People who call me to work extra, and then don't pay me for it, don't get much of my work after that.  There are people who pay me for the time I sit and transcribe.  I will spend my time at their work, not at a liar's.

Why MQ doesn't get it about "If you have no work - don't expect me to sit there" - is beyond me.

People can't sit up 24 hours a day chasing work to transcribe.  It should be on MQ's back to direct work flow so that when they know people are going to be signing on for their DEDICATED and ASSIGNED shift, there is work for them to do.  Don't let hogs get in there who are not supposed to be working and type all the time, and then there is no work for people who are signing on for their schedules.

And there should be a legit hourly wage set in stone not by some formula, that pays an MT to "sit there and wait."

I thought it made a difference to work
but unless you are working for the hospital it doesn't matter, you still get what they want you to have. I asked my last supervisor if they get psych work and was told they did but she saved them for another MT who liked them. The work I would get would be one-minute mush mouths. It sometimes took 20 minutes to complete one. That's the way it stayed until I finally left. I think that's an MT service thing because when I worked for the hospital, I typed whatever was next in line, no cherry-picking and no favoritism.

Sorry to hear that is happening to you. Hopefully, things get better either through communicating the problem or by getting a better job situation.

I usually work both jobs until I determine that the new job is really all I thought it would be. nm

And slaves thought it was great if they got to work
x
Actually, I thought her post was professional. Do you work at MDI? I doubt it.
she can most likely weed out the MTs just by their posts anyway if she's dealt with them at all. She did the right thing to simply state MDI MTs can come to her IF they have concerns. It's great to share info, but not ALL posts are by sister MTs sharing the good word. There are many, many who love to incite drama and there are always 2 sides to every story! Anyone can come on here and claim they are great MTs and do all that is expected of them yet are treated terribly by a company, but that sure doesn't make it the truth. About how many MTs do you think are at MDI? And how many individual MTs are here complaining? Not the same posters using different names but single persons. Do the math and figure out from that how many are unhappy at MDI, and my bet is your percentage will be low. I know of a lot of MTs very happy at MDI with enough work. But then I'm sure the naysayers will just claim those are the favorites or something.
I am wondering if employees with Futurenet have a hard time having adequate work flow..sm
Just started there not too long ago, but now finding out I am running out of work frequently.  I have several accounts that I can work on, but all are empty most of the time.  Have they overhired or is this the normal?
LOL. I read too fast and thought you were contacting her about porn work. nm
nm
not anonymous - I do work for Keystrokes, I thought I made that clear
I do work for them, it is hard not to trust anymore but yes, I do work for Keystrokes, I thought I made that clear. The other poster seemed cynical. I understand that. I love working for Keystrokes. it is an honest company. After all the other companies I have been with it is refreshing!
Oh for sure employees, but not too often for statutory employees. Sorry for confusion.
