If I were the company, I'd pick my battles more carefully.

In Reply to: They are protecting their company's - name. What if you were the company?

And better still, I'd try harder avoid the conflict by treating my employees like human beings. Happy, well-compensated employees are less likely to post negative comments than unhappy ones who feel wronged or cheated.

I don't think you can have it both ways. You can't continually kick your workers around, and then expect them to keep on licking your hand. Sooner or later, they're gonna bite.

Usually MANY battles, both large and small,
Food for thought.
if you had to pick one; medscribe or CyMed .. who and why would you pick em? considering both

Think carefully about it because sm
you really are going to be ill when you see the work that is typed every day.  It is much easier and less stressful to be responsible for your own report.  At least if you are typing or doing VR, you can have some pride in your work.  The only people you'll see in QA are the lazy ones who have no pride and no longer care.
Read carefully
Am I bitter? Nope, I have a very good job with an excellent MTSO. Pay good and on time, plenty of work.

HOWEVER...

Read these boards lately, and actually absorbed their contents? How many MTs do you see on here DESPERATE to find work, at any cost? They can't even get an acknowledgement to their resumes and their posts scream of their desperation. MTs on the verge of evication. MTs wondering where their next meal will come from. MTs getting their benefits cut because they cannot make lines due to lack of work.

That, my fellow MT, is where MY compassion lies. Not for some second-income, I don't need to work at all and I'm turning down jobs that don't fit my schedule. What a slap in the face to our fellow MTs are who struggling to survive!

Where is YOUR mind? Where is YOUR heart?

I'm guessing you're probably one of those providing a secondary income to your family for 'extras' and NOT the sole provider as so many of us are, otherwise your compassion would perhaps go in the same direction my compassion goes.

Read that MQ board? Talk about a heartbreaker. Those women are applying everywhere and having no luck; they're trapped. IMO, THAT is reason for sympathy and heartfelt sorrow. Not someone with a self-professed great job taking up the valuable time of MTSOs who weed through applications for candidates only to find she really isn't interested anyway.

Perhaps you need to look in your own little Christian-based glass house before you start tossing stones.

I suspect the bitterness lies within YOU.
Leads with ANY company NEVER run out of work; that is why the MT's do, because leads pick and cho
for themselves!  TT has so many leads it makes me sick!  We have absolutely no work, but I know those leads and QA are picking out plenty of work that they like to do !!!  FACT !!!
I don't either. I read the email carefully.

read the posting carefully...sm
I specifically put an end date to accepting applications because seems like I get them for the rest of my life. Also anyone who sends one after my applications close gets put on my junk mail list and I never see 'em again. That's  what they get for not following directions.
If you read what I wrote more carefully
you would see that I said it is fine as long as they tell you up front. Which they don't. Which means it isn't fine.

In other words, I was being a little sarcastic :)
If you read her post carefully...
She does indeed indicate they employ about 25 ILPs that do this for 'price point' reasons and apparently the client is in agrement.
Absolutely - listen carefully!

Though not at Transcend, I have just recently been a victim of exactly the sequence of events and circumstances posted above.  It was sooo hard to keep my mouth shut, with a lead sending condescending, negative, accusatory, power-hungry, and just plain idiotic e-mails.  Just couldn't do it, wanting to have my side/opinion/defense known to all the blind CC's - management.  The power went to her head, and it was like being assaulted through e-mail on a daily basis.  When I made a suggestion, it was rudely shot down immediately.

I wish I had though, because it was my demise.  It also was a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation, though, so I really still don't know what I could have done differently.  You have to respect yourself, you know?

Anyway, to the posters who said just keep doing a good job -- that doesn't really matter anymore.  There is no work ethic anymore.  There are plenty in line waiting for your job.  There is no one to help us.  We are at their mercy.

And to the suggestion, if you don't have resolution, go higher -- YEAH, RIGHT!!!  Management just LOVES that!  Look where it got me!!  That absolutely does not work anymore - so please, please just follow the rules and keep your mouth shut about everything!

Read their contract VERY carefully if you proceed. nm

I think if you look carefully at the bottom of most apps, you give
I have not filled out a single application in years that didn't request permission for a credit check. Scary, huh?
Bayou, why don't you read more carefully. I was correcting my OWN typo ! WOW !
Get a life !
Take your pick..lol.
I was wondering, was Proscript the place that did not pay for macros? There was 1 company I worked for that had loads of macros but you did not get paid for them.
And they pick up dog-poo, too.

Can you pick up?
I am still in the hiring process but very hopeful. I live within 3 miles of the JLG office, does anyone know if they allow employees to pick up their checks from the office? This would not be a deal breaker for me because I would just be grateful to work for them, but it is a concern nonetheless especially because I bank out of state.
You cannot pick and choose
I don't know how you think you can pick and choose. You get the jobs assigned to you by the queue managers. You cannot even see what jobs are available.

SS has been a terrific company for me. I too stick to schedule but at times have to flex because of kids, etc. and they do not have a problem with that from time to time.

you can pick from 3 different shifts
10-6, 11-7 or 12-8 and I believe you have to work Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs. You type and get paid hourly, but you have to do a minimum of 1000 lines a day. That's about it in a nutshell.
They paid to have UPS come pick up
the equipment, but they ignored numerous emails from me and I then got a threatening letter about suing me for not returning their equipment. There was a delay in the final pay. No exit interview. I was civilized, however, A was not.
This is why MTs "cherry-pick"! nm
S
the one I was on, you had to pick from the unassigned ones
nm
What do you mean by pick from the unassigned ones? nm

KS does not pick the platforms...
that the facilities they contract with use. Those platforms and their requirements, like ULLD, are almost always in place when KS contracts with them. I hear MTs get upset about C-phones and why any MTSO would use them but the MTSO is going with what the facility wants/has been using. These platforms are network-wide for some very large health networks sometimes, and they can be reluctant to pull the plug on one that has served them well for sometimes a very long time...not to mention the costs involved.
WILL BE ABLE TO CHERRY-PICK - sm

to your heart's content, if that's your choice and you are fortunate enough to get the kind of Lead job where you have control of work flow & distribution, as they do in my company.  As bad as the Q may have been in some important areas, I always got my lines.  Work was allowed to self-distribute naturally ...THE NEXT FREE MT GOT THE NEXT AVAILABLE JOB.  We had 1 supervisor, not 2 dozen people we had to answer to, as today's top-heavys.

But as long as the same person who assigns/distributes the work (Leads) also types on the accounts & has FIRST CHOICE of jobs -- well, where does leave the rest of us??  With 101% $---t, that's what!  That and being salaried, too!  I'd be a Lead for HALF of the little they're paying us now and I bet I'd get more done if the playing field between Leads and peon MTs were evened out a little.

so pick up your own accounts, get 5 sm
people and see how well you do. The headache of listening to whining, complaining MTs is not worth it! Granted there are MTSOs making tons of money and yes some are scr****g their employees/ICs. But, if you think running a business and putting up with all of it is a piece of cake, you are sadly mistaken!
If you pick one up and notice it's VR, is it

Hopefully the speed will pick-up
a part-time job to cover that lull.  Crying here and not to be unkind is really not going to help your situation.  We can give you a big ole awwwww, but that's not going to help.  Get a part-time job.
If you'll read more carefully you'll see
I was referring to AFTER she's missed out on a job, having a friend do sort of an audit to tell her what what was wrong with her test she submitted -- not cheating.
You all need to pick up some Feen-A-Mint
nm
you definitely wanna pick TransHealth
constant workflow. Good accounts. Good pay. GOOD PEOPLE.
....pick up the slack and keep TAT in check! nm

Pick up the phone and call

Yes it will be a threat. It will just pick up these sounds of
chewing and make words out of them. Yep.
If you could pick between OSi and TransTech, which would you choose? nm

Decision made on who to pick!
After reading all the feedback, I decided to go with Keystrokes.  MQ just seems to iffy with work compared to Keystrokes, who certainly has some good feedback from fellow MTs.
If your question is can you cherry pick
Your queue is preset for your work types and they come in according to TAT. You can't pick and choose what you want to type. That is established beforehand.
So do they cherry pick at Transtech?
nm
Transform or Accustat, which would you pick to go for
I am undecided.
Inviting new members, maybe it will pick up
Everybody is scrambling for lines because its slim pickings now, afraid to spend time in the group for fear of losing a job to type. JMO.
When will work pick back up? nm

Which would you pick. Just wanting advice, and different

points of view:

FutureNet, E-Transplus, or MDI.

Perhaps a combination of 2 of the above? Any advice welcome. Having to decide. Thanks in advance.

DON'T pick Superior Global...
Superior Global has bad uneducated QAs, bad team leaders, horrible!  They had one great team leader (started with a J), but she resigned and it has gone downhill ever since.  They offer incentives once in awhile and then forget they offered them.  No bonuses for anything.  Just poorly ran.  On the plus side if you aren't meeting production, they don't really care, very disorganized and they can't remember any schedules so it can be pretty flexible.  They also don't have direct deposit, so you have to wait for your paper check.
I pick and choose what I take from this board

I first started coming here about 6 years ago when I started going to school for MT.  The posts almost made me give up before I had even finished.  I was sure I would never find a job and that I made a horrid mistake, but because I had already paid for the classes I decided to continue, and found a job 2 months before I ever graduated.  I have been working for 5 years now, and have never been without job, and I make a very good line rate with an awesome company.  I like coming to this board and looking around since I don't really have a relationship with co-workers in this business, it is nice to see what others are thinking, but for the most part I take everything with a grain of salt.

But what happened to you about the recruiter is pretty horrid.  I can't believe somebody would do such a hateful thing, but in the end they may have done you a favor, I don't think I would have wanted to work for a company that was so rude and unprofessional.

Positions are IC, you pick your hours.

You haven't seen 'me' pick at anyone. I don't know who
you think I am, but 'sm' just means 'see message', and everyone uses it...
I agree, who wants to constantly nit-pick with the QA, tit-for-tat!...
'The less contact one has with the QA person the better, believe me, stay 'invisible' as much as you can.
They only requested that I pick the days

I would work and that they include 1 weekend day, which seems fair to me.  We fill out monthly calendars, letting them know if we cannot work a day (be it a weekday or weekend).  I have never been told I could not have a day off.  We do not have to give the hours we will work, only the amount of lines we will put in per day.

I have absolutely no problem with any of that.  Having worked for MQ in the past, where we were chastised for clocking in 15 minutes late or our keyboards were monitored for inactivity, MDI has been a breath of fresh air.

If I were an employee, I would certainly be upset if I had to log in and had no work and then would have to keep checking back throughout my shift for work, only to have to make up the entire shift later on.  That seems very unfair to me.

If I run out of work at MDI, I email my liason and let them know that I'm out and I'll make it up another day if there's work.  If there is not enough work later in the week, then I don't make it up.  I can't help it if there's no work.  I'm flexible, but I don't live to work.  I'm also fortunate to have another income.

Sorry to hear of your situation.  Didn't mean to be so nosy.  Your post didn't say either way that you worked at MDI, but I just assumed so -- you know what that makes me!

How the heck would you cherry pick at Amphion
huh?
Have worked for them both. American MTs get what is left over. They pick first.

I wasn't trying to pick on her. I thought that the OP had a resume and
that she put in the wrong email. Nothing else, nothing more. I was trying to help not to criticize.
Yes, you have to go there to pick up their loaded CPU. Pay wasn't that good, either. nm
