Anxiously waiting for work load to pick up -- LOW, low n/m

I was reading about the back up help. I would like also to have some back up work.
I am not getting anywhere near 12,000 lines this go around.  My goal is 12,000 lines each pay period.
Leads with ANY company NEVER run out of work; that is why the MT's do, because leads pick and cho
for themselves!  TT has so many leads it makes me sick!  We have absolutely no work, but I know those leads and QA are picking out plenty of work that they like to do !!!  FACT !!!
I am not really sure. Your work is due back the next day. As for sm

weekends and holidays, it is clinic work, and I do not think any of the accounts work on the weekends, but I could be wrong.  The work you get on Friday is due back on Monday morning.  You might submit your resume anyway.  The lead MT handles the hiring, and she is great.  Perhaps you could work something out.  I only work part-time, and I cannot really speak for the company, but feel free to email me if you have any other questions, and I will help if I can.

Good luck!

going back to work

have not been working for nearly 2 years....just wondering what companies are out there these days that are hiring.....any suggestions appreciated....thanks

Let's just get back to work girls
let bygones be bygones and let it go already.  Let's get back to work and do our jobs!
Work load is back up.
Most are too busy to post, I guess.
I need to go back to clinic MT work
It seems like all VR is are ESL physicians.  I think I need to go back to standard typing clinic work again so that I can pay my bills.  My wrists will hate me for it though

PLenty of work here. And I only have 1 account, no back up.

Has anyone ever gone back to work for a previous company?

I was just wondering if any of you out there had ever gone back to work for a company that you had worke at before.  What was your experience in doing so?  Is it worth looking into?

Thanks for any help.

I didn't work there way back in 2005, so
I can't comment on your personal experience, but for me in 2008:

1. If you run out of work, you are paid downtime. You can do backup acounts also. Not sure about the written consent but there are a lot of us who work on other accounts.

2. Sample reports: The program allows you to bring up previously typed reports by experienced MTs by doctor, patient, report type, etc., so the MT has endless samples.

3. Supervisor currently, from what I can tell anyhow, has a lot of contact with hosital including informing them of problem dictators and other issues that directly impact the MT's production, etc.

4. I think they changed the insurance to cover out-of-area employees, but don't quote me on that.

Personally I've had a very good experience with the FL account. Nothing is perfect, but I'm very satisfied.
Going back to the question of "Whose work is it"?

I was just reading the posts below about leaving work for other people if the work is low.  I cannot imagine sitting here and not working if there is work because someone else might not have work to do when they want it.  When I take a job, they tell me that I am required to do x number of lines a day and I usually tell them, well I require myself to do x number of lines a day (always way more than what they require), and I expect that every day when I work that I get MY requirement.  Now, I stop when I get my requirement, but I am most definitely not going to stop at their requirement just because the work is low.

I love my fellow MTs, but I also love to pay my bills on time, I love to have my spending money, I love to pay for what I want, I love to eat - are they going to share their money with me just because I left them work?

And I also do not expect them to leave me work just because the work is low.

Well, go back to work and quit trying to stir the pot.

If your company is never out of work or always back-logged, can you state the name? Thx. nm
,
Transmitting back the work doesn't cause a problem

because the file is a very small fraction of the size of a voice file.  A voice file is huge, but a text file is small in comparison, so doesn't take near as long to transmit.

After the first file is downloaded though you can work, so it isn't like you are just sitting waiting for them to download.  When I had dial-up I would set to download and then go take my shower.

Ah, it's the "eye roller" again. Get back to work. This is why you keep getting fired.
Guess what - you DO sound like a disgruntled employee! Do you think your attitude has anything to do with your bad luck on the job market?
I'm sure because the work is coming back a real mess..sm
These companies think they can breeze by with their overseas MTs, and sure they can if they have enough back up by seasoned US MTs and editors. Once the proportion becomes unbalanced, and they have more overseas MTs and less US MTs, the mess will start to pile up. It really does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out. In time, it will come back to kick these companies in the rear. That's why I always say an experienced MT makes a much better transcription service owner because they would never put themselves in this situation; clearly able to decipher fantasy from reality and not just the big $ signs. I am not referring to this company, but any MT company in general.
My "lull" lasted about an hour. Now it's back on too much work!! (LOL)
nm
My thots exactly. Why not pull some of the work back from outsourcing
and ask us if we want to learn a new platform rather than telling us to take the day off or telling us to adjust schedules to meet the demand (which there is none since I already do that). There is no work and they continue to send work overseas. They continue to put new people on to help and we have even less work. Management is not concerned about the peons, just their own fat paychecks and fun times in the city.
H. told me the work was going back in house for some of the doctors. nm

YOG before MQ -- lots of work and good income back then. nm

You obviously do not work there. They started paying the extra a while back for OT. sm
nm
The company I work for went to VR a few months back. I was as terrified as you are. sm
It has been OK. I like doing the VR work, and my check is really no different than it was before the change. I do a lot more in terms of production in the same amount of time.

The downside is that the increased production, even though in the same timeframe, is taking its toll on me. It is stressful.

If you get an easy report that has very few edits, you will fly through it. If you get one that is full of errors, it will take you longer than typing it from scratch.

It's a catch-22 in that we really don't have a choice but the good news is that my pay has not suffered and my hands are not as tired.
After about a 2-day period of more work, back to running out constantly.
Maybe they should streamline, get rid of some dead weight, but mostly they should STOP OVERHIRING as they have constantly done in the years I have been there.

This is NOT a seasonal slowdown. They treat us like mushrooms, if you know what I mean.
I would go back. The factors that made it difficult to work there before are no longer there
Clear expectations, documented style guide, friendly and helpful staff from the top down, consistent QA. They put in writing what they expect and if you do your thing within those expectations, you will thrive!
(I'm only a lowly MT, not anyone in a position to profit from these statements!)
one line for listening to work - internet to send back.

I don't work for Transtech but applied w/them, haven't heard back
..
i'd like to know too. i did send an email back before wasting more of my time to see if the work
;
No, I wouldn't go back. I lost too much money there ALWAYS running out of work (sm)
There were days at MQ I would type 2 reports during my shift, and I had a LOT of accounts in my pool!  A friend of mine who started at the same time I did with MQ is still there and she is always out of work. I just can't take the chance.
Exactly..who mails checks anymore. Even back in the day at work, every other Friday
our supervisors would pass out pay checks. Another thing...I think the OP is just trying to stir people up again, but why????
Where I work I was told I had to get them in or be put back to PT status and lose benefits. nm

Hate the day after a holiday for work -- seems like it takes forever to get my account back up to
speed and getting work available.  Oh, well, I'm just venting this morning because I don't have any work and guess I should be cleaning house instead of sitting on here being frustrated about it.  Have a good one!
Take your pick..lol.
I was wondering, was Proscript the place that did not pay for macros? There was 1 company I worked for that had loads of macros but you did not get paid for them.
And they pick up dog-poo, too.

Can you pick up?
I am still in the hiring process but very hopeful. I live within 3 miles of the JLG office, does anyone know if they allow employees to pick up their checks from the office? This would not be a deal breaker for me because I would just be grateful to work for them, but it is a concern nonetheless especially because I bank out of state.
Their new pay plan brought me back to newbie wages since I don't do high volume. And the work loa

You cannot pick and choose
I don't know how you think you can pick and choose. You get the jobs assigned to you by the queue managers. You cannot even see what jobs are available.

SS has been a terrific company for me. I too stick to schedule but at times have to flex because of kids, etc. and they do not have a problem with that from time to time.

you can pick from 3 different shifts
10-6, 11-7 or 12-8 and I believe you have to work Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs. You type and get paid hourly, but you have to do a minimum of 1000 lines a day. That's about it in a nutshell.
They paid to have UPS come pick up
the equipment, but they ignored numerous emails from me and I then got a threatening letter about suing me for not returning their equipment. There was a delay in the final pay. No exit interview. I was civilized, however, A was not.
This is why MTs "cherry-pick"! nm
S
the one I was on, you had to pick from the unassigned ones
nm
What do you mean by pick from the unassigned ones? nm
nm
KS does not pick the platforms...
that the facilities they contract with use. Those platforms and their requirements, like ULLD, are almost always in place when KS contracts with them. I hear MTs get upset about C-phones and why any MTSO would use them but the MTSO is going with what the facility wants/has been using. These platforms are network-wide for some very large health networks sometimes, and they can be reluctant to pull the plug on one that has served them well for sometimes a very long time...not to mention the costs involved.
WILL BE ABLE TO CHERRY-PICK - sm

to your heart's content, if that's your choice and you are fortunate enough to get the kind of Lead job where you have control of work flow & distribution, as they do in my company.  As bad as the Q may have been in some important areas, I always got my lines.  Work was allowed to self-distribute naturally ...THE NEXT FREE MT GOT THE NEXT AVAILABLE JOB.  We had 1 supervisor, not 2 dozen people we had to answer to, as today's top-heavys.

But as long as the same person who assigns/distributes the work (Leads) also types on the accounts & has FIRST CHOICE of jobs -- well, where does leave the rest of us??  With 101% $---t, that's what!  That and being salaried, too!  I'd be a Lead for HALF of the little they're paying us now and I bet I'd get more done if the playing field between Leads and peon MTs were evened out a little.
