IC position - legal transcription/interviews

Posted By: Trish Merrill on Wed 29 Mar 2017

Multisource Document Services, LLC, located in Aurora, Colorado, seeing IC for legal transcription.  Work requires transcription software to play various audio codecs, .dss, .wav. .mp3, etc., and Word.  Primarily interviews including police interviews of witnesses/suspects, attorney Rule 15 interviews of potential witnesses in trials, Children's Advocacy Center forensic interviews of children.  Occasional body bugs and 911 calls.  Starting rate is $0.08 per line.

Application and Test is online at www.multitrancript.com.  First level of test is set at 100% for screening, which is basic spelling and punctuation.  If you do not receive a 100% score, you will be notified that you do not meet our requirements.  We will still review the results and will contact you if you achieve at least 98% for further information.  If you are not truly interested in an IC position for this type of work, please do not apply.  We need only serious applicants.

Veterinary Ophthalmology IC Needed (PT/FT; Mon-Fri)

Posted By: Anne on Mon 27 Mar 2017

A+ Transcription Services, Inc.
Tucson, AZ
VETERINARY OPHTHALMOLOGY

Small transcription company currently looking for part-time/full-time independent contractor to work Monday through Friday. Can choose desired work hours but must be able to stay consistent on time of day/night when finished work is returned and within 24-hour turnaround time (we will establish your schedule together).

Transcriptionists are assigned their own specific clinic(s) and doctors to type for each day, which means you get the good, the bad, and the ugly that come along with the package deal. By typing for assigned clinics/doctors, each transcriptionist is able to get comfortable and can produce the work faster on a daily basis; however, this also means that there tend to be slow work days and heavy work days. This position does not allow for the transcriptionist to type a certain amount of lines per day and then call it quits.  To date, there are no strong ESL dictators, and all doctors are relatively easy to understand, aside from some mumbling and other bad habits.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years current ophthalmology experience or six years combined acute care and ophthalmology experience
Hands-on typing experience and not just QA/editing

Experience with Microsoft Word required and general knowledge of what a Macro is and how it functions

Knowledge of grammar and punctuation
Please, list ophthalmology experience on resume/application

NECESSARY EQUIPMENT FOR POSITION:

Computer with Windows XP or higher

Microsoft Word 2003 or higher

WavPlayer and DocShuttle Client/Transcription software (can be purchased from Bytescribe after completing initial setup and introductory training period of approximately two weeks - do not download trial software to take test files, as trial starts from day it is downloaded)

Medical spell-check program (such as Stedman's or Sylvan)

High-speed Internet connection

Macros are used frequently, which expedite and automate a great deal of the mundane tasks associated with daily typing, such as creating report headers, saving reports, creating patient logs, spell‑check, etc. Everything that is automated and eliminated from having to be done manually saves you time and makes you more money!

Pay is according to a 65-character line and is calculated with the program SylCount IV by Sylvan Software. EVERY KEY your fingers touch, you get paid for, except delete. There is also a good deal of FREE line count built into the report and signature Macros that you get paid for as well. During the initial setup and training phase, the pay is 7¢ per line, which generally lasts about two weeks. The pay then increases to 8¢ per line until you are completely on your own. Once you are on your own, the pay then increases to 9¢ per line. The rate of pay will not increase beyond the amount of 9¢ per line; however, I have been told by other transcriptionists that the 9¢ per line actually equates to 11¢ per line because of all of the free line count and Macro automation that is provided.

I am looking for someone who is easy to work with, who takes pride in the work produced, and who pays attention to detail.  This is a small transcription company of less than ten people, which means each person's work reflects upon the others.  We all have contact with each other in case we have questions, so you will become part of the group and will not be an unknown entity.  Time off is limited to one vacation per year, as we all cover each other's work.

If you love animals and have the required qualifications, please, send your resume to the above email address.  Resumes will only be accepted until midnight, Monday, April 3rd.  No further resumes will be accepted as of Tuesday.  Qualified candidates will be notified within two days after all resumes have been received and asked to fill out a questionnaire and type one or two small test files.  All test files will need to be returned within a specified time, so it is best to make sure you have a WavPlayer that will work beforehand.  If you do not currently have software to play the files, you can download the free Olympus DSS Player Lite (download is at bottom of page), and the Express Scribe player also appears to work on DS2 files and can be downloaded for free from Express Player. The DSS Player Lite exe file will automatically run the software when clicked and will not install anything on your computer.

This position will be filled as soon as possible, and the transcriptionist MUST be able to begin working immediately.  The training period will be approximately one month, depending on how long it takes to get comfortable with the Macros and account specifics.  Due to different time zones and work hours between yourself, myself, and the clinic(s), the training phase can be grueling, as we need to work closely together in order for the reports to be typed and then reviewed by myself afterward, being returned to the clinic(s) on time.  However, we will work together on a schedule during the review process, and the workload will not be heavy during this time, as the goal is to get you comfortable and working on your own as quickly as possible.  I need someone who can work with my schedule during the training phase, as I also type and want to end my workday.  However, again, the training phase will only last until you can go completely on your own.
