A couple of weeks ago I worked

for Landmark for just a few hours.  On interview I was asked if I was familiar with a certain platform and said I was not.  I was asked if I was willing to learn. I was more than happy to do that.  After all, that gives you more employment possibilities in the future.

Got set up, and was basically just told to do the work.  I thought learning a platform meant there would be some training, at least a sheet of paper with some instructions.  I received zip even with asking.  I emailed the trainer 3 times which I guess was her limit because she only answered the first 2. I waited 24 hours for a reply.  With none, I quit.

I earned a little over $40.  From what others are saying, I guess that is money I will never see.

It took me a couple of weeks...
had to get all those shortcuts in but once you get used to it, it is okay.  I always keep track of how many reports I do and I don't look at line count until I do so many.  I can get my required line count in 6 hours or less and when I first started it was a lot longer than that.  So, it does get better.
Yes and no. Went through this a couple of weeks ago.,

Hired for new account that didn't come on-line as projected.  Extended training/staging time that at least we got paid for, but half of what I make transcribing and then when we went live there was no little work for week we were lucky to get 4 reports a day.   Other accounts were low so couldn't give us a backup, but looks like most accounts are back to producing again and lots of OT now.

My situation isn't quite the same, but the result was the same and I sympathize with you.   When you have bills to pay you need to be making the lines.

Well, not long enough, really. Only a couple of weeks. nm

A couple of weeks ago some Keystrokes MT
were having issues with a system down and not being able to work.  I've searched the achives and I can't find the posts.  Can someone tell me if it was a Meditech account?
I have my first experience with EMR a couple of weeks ago. My
son had to see a specialist, first time seeing this doctor.  The doctor was so concerned with filling in the blanks that he paid no attention to my son.  My son, DH, and I are were very underwhelmed with the doctor and the visit.  Fortunately we have to see another specialist and don't have to see that doctor again, but the new specialist is part of the conglomeration and also uses EMR.
I asked about these 2 companies a couple of weeks ago, just not
about rad, and I was told to go with Keystrokes.   Both companies seem to have 90+% positive comments, though I have seen more with rad about KS.
They offered me a position a couple of weeks ago.

IC position and pay is low.   Can't remember any other details of their offer.  The first 2 were enough to know I wasn't interested.

It definitely can be frustrating. I tested for Accupro a couple of weeks ago, sm

and there were several long reports to type, yet I never received the courtesy of a response.  They were great guns at first, sending me info about the company, telling me how impressive my resume is, etc., and after the written test, I heard back immediately, but then, after investing several hours into their written test .. *poof* .. nada.  I don't know that I aced it, but after 25+ years of being an MT, I didn't think I did so awful that it would not even merit a reply.   Such is life ...

On the flip side, I do realize that companies receive 100s of applications when they run an ad, and so I try to be patient and realize that I can just be lost in the shuffle somtimes.  I perhaps am not aggressive enough, because I do not email or call if they drop the ball.  There are lots of other companies out there.

wow. I talked to one of their recruiters a couple of weeks ago, and she was awesome.
My experience was completely different from yours. Maybe we talked to different people.
You guys are scaring me as I start in a couple weeks :(
 Soon to be fellow Webbie
Read through old posts, discussed a few times the last couple of weeks. nt

I worked for them for a couple of years - sm
It was awful. What should take me 3-4 hours to transcribe one hour - would take me up to 6 hours. These are seminars with MULTIPLE speakers. Everybody talks at once and you do not know who is who but are expected to know that!! I would keep many notes by my keyboard such as accent, deepening of voice, female or male, etc. But when you are working on a transcript that is 4 hours long, you are obviously not going to sit for 16 hours to finish it. The pay was good, but I would break it down and realize that it is not that great. Sometimes I only made $10/hour because of the all the accents of people and everyone talking over each other. The quality was many times not that great because they would record next to an air conditioner or to the person that had a cold and cough so I would have tons of inaudibles. Very frustrating work. The pay at the time took up to six weeks to get. They might have changed that since I left, but I do know that they were offshoring a lot of their work because they do have such a large turnover. One of my friends still works there and she told me that the company lost quite a few clients because the offshore work was hilariously pathetic. So maybe now they are changing their ways and structure. Who knows. But It is very difficult work.
I worked for them a couple of years ago and
pay was above average and on time, but work flow was a little undependable, sometimes very heavy or sometimes nothing.
I worked for them for a couple of years
right out of school - they're a good company to work for. Granted, this has been a while back, but they were very nice, very helpful and always paid on time (most importantly!) Good luck to you if you decide to apply! =)
Worked there for 2 yrs and left a couple months ago.
Couldn't take working with unqualified people any longer. A very unprofessional company.

I worked for them a couple of years back sm
Nice bunch of people, all IC. Nice platform. Always had plenty of work and I think they paid 7 cents a line. I did weekends and always had work. I'd go back to work for them if I could. They had lots of radiology and acute care and tons of cardiac.
Worked for Spheris a couple of years ago
I worked for Spheris and would not recommend it to anyone who wants the least bit of flexibility in their schedule. You are expected to punch in and out to the minute on an online timeclock according to a very strict preset schedule. You aren't allowed to deviate from it without jumping through hoops and getting time off approved or adjusting your schedule, and you can't ask earlier than 2 weeks before the date you want changed. Kinda puts a damper on making vacation plans that may never be approved. I prefer a more open 12-hour window to work my 8 hours in, with no one keeping electronic tabs on my 24/7. I'll bet the FBI knows less about what their employees are doing on a minute-by-minute basis. I do have to say that their platform is pretty awesome, though. Wish the company I'm at now had it.
I worked for them a couple of years back... SM
They are a pretty good company to work for.  Pay always on time.  Work flow waxes and wanes sometimes, but pretty consistent.  I liked them.  Only reason I left was to take a job in the office which didn't work out.  I'd go back to them in a heartbeat if I didn't need bennies.
It didn't when I worked with MQ, but that was a couple of years ago. SM
Instant Text works very well with DQS, though.
I like ChartMatrix. Have worked on it for a couple of years...sm

There are 2 versions, the one they've been using for the past few years and a new one they're rolling out that can also be used with ASR.  I like the new one a lot better than the old one, but the old one was pretty good.  There are a lot more Keystrokes with the new ChartMatrix.

I have not worked on Enterprise, so I cannot comment on that.  Sorry.

I worked for Breitner a couple years ago

for about 3 months (if that).  They had more excuses for my check not being on time or the amount was wrong or the accountant was new or the accountant was on vacation or.....WHATEVER!  Glad I'm outta there.  They are thieves!  You get a subtraction for headings!!

I worked for Keystrokes for a couple of years...
I was very happy with the company.  I didn't have a problem with them, just needed to take a leave for a while and ended up starting with another company a few months later.  It's been about a year and a half since I worked for them, but at that time there was plenty of work.  I had no problems with supervision.  I really don't have anything negative, but again it's been a while, so I don't know what the workload is like these days.  Hope that helps - good luck!
I worked for them for two weeks
They advertised they had ASR and that is what I wanted to do.  They do not give you ASR.  They new that is what I wanted to do and they gave me an account WITHOUT any ASR.  They also have different systems for different accounts, i.e. dictaphone for one account, something completely different for another.  You have to download it to your personal computer, they do not have any to send you.  Also they foot pedals did not work.  I think what was worse for me is they claim to be based in the United States but the only people I talked to were all Middle Eastern.  Their tech people, supervisors, etc.  I even heard their QA were based in India.  (the ones that QA our work).  I did not have a good experience with them at all.
I worked there for about 6 weeks and
also left. You cut and paste from the demographics into the report itself. I left because I could not get 8 hrs a day in through the week, required to work a weekend day, and then would either run out or have no work, so never got 40 hours in.
I worked for them for about 6 weeks sm
After two weeks, the work got slow and it took forever to find out what was going on. They had lost the account but wouldn't tell me. They offered me something else but it was garbage and I wouldn't take it. Nice people, but nice doesn't bring in a paycheck.
I work for FN but worked for MDI-MD for a few weeks...Go with FN! sm
I agree with the other poster. Futurenet is great! They are very respectable. A lot of working is going to SR now though. That is the only downfall I have for them. But they work with you on everything! If they offered benefits, which they don't, I don't think anyone could beat them whatsoever. Pay is ontime EVERY time! Excellent staff! I have been there for a little over 2 years and have thought about going other places ONLY for benefit purposes but I just can't! They are too good to leave! I will be with them as long as they will allow me to. Couldn't picture myself working for anyone else!
I worked for them last fall for a few weeks, pay was
9.5 cpl, but always ran out of work and still after 6 weeks they never got around to giving me a second account, even though they said they would. Left after that.
I worked the full two weeks with no problems ...nm

I worked for them for a few weeks. Very nice people (sm)
I just could not make their minimum and found platform to be cumbersome - but it may have just been me.
I worked there for about 6 weeks and never once had a full 8-hour day of
work. Ended up working my scheduled days off to get my time in.
I worked for them recently for a few weeks and left because of SM
low/no work. No hard feelings.
I worked at Diskriter for 6 weeks, constantly
x
Have worked for them 8 weeks, haven't received a check yet. -nm

I've worked for Ubiqus for 2 years now and I get paid every two weeks.
I really enjoy the work because it's advisory board meetings, round table discussions, and big conferences of all fields of medicine.  I started with them right after I graduated and I've never done any of the doctor dictation, I like this work better.
Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
I worked for a temp agency for 3 years..LOVED it. Just worked. No counts, no hassels, GREAT pay..
No benefits at the time.  I even learned pathology while temping (8 months on that assigment).  I loved the variety, the ability to say I'm not available such and such time.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I didn't need benefits.
A company is ONLY supposed to verify that someone worked there, what dates they worked, whether PT o
and last date worked. It opens everyone up to a lawsuit if more is given, so most companies are told by their attorneys and business advisors to verify only.

No one has a right to a reference, only verification of employment.
A couple

Lee Perfect I believe and TTS.  Try putting your resume up as well.  I got a ton of hits off of here and another transcription job board and another job website.  Not allowed to give you names of the sites though.

It worked! Latest suggestion from DJ's email worked. nm

If I worked a longer day, I just put my regular shift, 3p-11p, or whatever. If I worked sm
an extra day, then I was told to fudge the hours around on the other days so it all came out to 40.  I didn't really mind -- have learned not to expect overtime in this profession -- and I was happy to be able to work whenever I needed to get the lines I needed.  However, them telling me directly to fudge on my time sheet would seem to be a violation of the wage and hour laws.  I suppose it doesn't matter now if they do not even have enough work to make the minimum line count necessary.  Several of the companies I thought were golden seem to have gotten a bit tarnished lately … sad.
There are a couple of ways....
You can either use Alt+tab and that will switch you toggle you between programs or you can just keep a notebook and write down the acc#. I thought this was going to really hurt my production but after you get use to doing it, it doesn't really seem to be a big deal at all. Good luck!
A couple questions

Do they hire part-time?   Do you need a C-phone or are they internet based?

Thanks

...couple more questions if you can...
Tested for radiology, but I can do acute care. Can you tell me about the rotating weekends? How many weekends do you actually end up working over about a 3-month period? Does the software have a built-in expander?

Thanks!
I have a couple questions
Do they hire part time?  The website mentions Word 2000.  Does it have to be Word 2000 or will a newer version work, i.e. Word 2002?
a couple more questions
What is the minimum line count you need with them for part-time and if you need to work outside of your schedule or type earlier/later in the day, how flexible are they with that?  Thanks for the info!
Just a couple questions

How is the platform?

Is rigid schedule required for full-time?

Are there production bonuses?

Thank you!

Yup. Same here. Just started a couple
of months ago with promises of good accounts, never run out of work, etc.  I really regret going with them.  Now looking for something else.  What a disappointment!  Same thing with Medware in the past.  So don't look there either.  These companies over-hire and offshore, and this is what happens.  Ugh.
A couple of questions for you...
What do you mean by acquired 3 private accounts through them? They are your accounts? You bill them, collect the money? Or they are small accounts that only you do? Not sure what you meant there.

If you have no benefits, are you an IC? If you are an employee with no benefits, I'd be looking elsewhere. If you're not being paid what an IC would make, you're getting the short end of the stick.

If you are an IC, you'd need to rewrite your contract at the end of the contract period.

If you're an employee, go for it. Ask for what you feel you deserve. If they value what you do enough, they should be able to meet your needs (especially if they're getting away with not paying benefits!).

Best of luck!
I used it a couple of times and liked it. nm

Thanks-couple more questions
This helped some.  What is their line count requirement and is it pretty attainable?  Also, is 40 hours considered full time or can you work less than that for full time?  Again, thanks.
There's only a couple of accounts that way....sm
the majority of them don't have that type of set-up with the client and there's generally plenty of work available between a primary and secondary account to keep you busy.

As far as communication goes, I've received at least 1 e-mail a day on my account advising what the status of it was and any additional information that needed to be passed along. If you use an e-mail service such as hotmail you have to check your junk folder as sometimes your e-mail system will think their valid e-mails are junk mail and filter them out.
