I covered that
My contract ends each year. I reassess if that same contract is working for me, if I want to raise my rates, etc and renew the contract. Many contractural relationships are handled this way.

When I owned my own client-to-service based service, I had a lot of government contracts, and they are sticklers for making sure you really know what you're doing with being a contractor. Now that I provide my services to a middle man, it's just the same on a smaller scale.

If ICs actually behaved like ICs and held the middle men accountable, you might see a livable wage actually still existent. Instead, posters as above who just dont want their own boat rocked mean that the crappy situation most MTs are in will continue.
Ok, I said the chocolate covered cherries but
I said, well almost. You just have to read all the post. Some ESLs on mine are better than the English so it can happen. I have 1 English speaking PA that it never gets and I have no idea why. Her reports are pure salad. I worked in a hospital before making both base and incentive and I only work part now so how to compare what I made then as to now? I have edited over 600 lines before BUT and read THIS, that is few and far between. The stars all have to be lined up for that to happen. I can and do do 400+ a line but am old and really have forgotten how much paid per line and per hour when working inhouse.
We are not hourly employees so we are not covered by that -
we are considered being paid by the piece and that is figured a separate way. That is why I had such trouble getting my unemployment because they said I was not an hourly employee and therefore was not entitled to unemployment.
to make sure the accounts are over-covered -- greed

FN is so very greedy.  Keep 'em over-covered for TAT.  Keep the gals scraping for bits.  They would rather have way too many MTs than have just enough.  I see things have certainly not changed...

Company Hack and Suckup...you covered it for us. n/m
x
We just covered this on the main board - probably a scam company -sm
In the past I have seen their ads (in every state) saying you can make mega $$$. However it is believed that they are XXXXX under a new name in order to get new victims. The company itself is actually in XXXXX, they say you have to buy the software they use $400 from another company (which they own too but have it hidden well). They then string you along with tests and practice dictation (which I suspect is real dictation) but you never get paid as you have passed the test, nor will you ever be quite good enough to pass. I know a few people that have done it, get strung along for 6 months or more then finally give up, eating the $400. So make a fuss and get their money back, reporting them to the BBB. As for no info, that is not good, if no phone number or address, or they make you buy stuff, steer clear.
Whether you apply on line or by written application, they have it covered

They have always had a disclaimer at the end of any paper Employment Application you fill out and sign, but now they also have them if you apply on line.  They cover it nicely by saying I authorize investigation.  That pretty much lets them do anything they want and without a written signature.

Not management, don’t know about Transtech, fast typist, American, what have I not covered
Let's see, all the above have been said about me. I have been truthful trying to let others know about VR but the only thing most can do who are opposed accuse you of being too slow to make a decent salary, working as management, working for whatever company they are talking about and so on. I think I have reached my fill because others do not really care to understand. I went through why if VR threw in something wrong how a trained person would know and then someone came back asking if I were an American. If you cannot comprehend something seems like you just throw anything that might stick. I have tried because I have worked on VR now for about 7 years but no one wants to hear but what woes they face.
Remember, you are covered as long as you have documented Out of Work tickets - sm
You can still qualify for holiday pay if you try to get in your 32 hrs, and receive the NSA message. If there is no work, there is no work and they can't hold your holiday pay.
With Transtech insurance, do you have to meet deductible before office visits are covered? nm

The ad says they treat MTs like family ... what a family that must be! LOL nm

She didn't say she didn't have a family. A family isn't just kids. sm

She also said she didn't have kids. Why do you think you're so much better  BECAUSE you have kids?  I am so sick of that attitude.  I don't have kids, never wanted them, but have been discriminated against in jobs because of it.  Everyone figured since I had no kids I could work all the time.  I said NO!  Just because I don't have kids doesn't mean I don't have a life or that my life is not important.

BTW I work part time too.

The 2nd one was NOT family. Again, get your sm
facts straight.
Family

No ... not being catered to.  The company pays the same portion of my insurance for my family plan as it does for the employee who has no family.  With the new plan, for health and dental for myself and my family, I will be paying a grand total of $738.93 a month, which is down from $977.00 I was paying.  I hardly call $738.00 a month being catered too.  I'm just happy it came down.  The employee only rates are still very, very good from my point of view, and it does seem like it is really good coverage.

this is for family?

No family? sm
Then who is that cutie in the picture?
You say family comes first?
All the love in the world goes out the window if you are hungry. Check and see just what are the basic needs. Love is not the first thing on the list.
family plan
Anyone know what the cost would be for a family plan?
family plan
I can't find the info they sent me...It should be here somewhere.  I'll look some more Sunday and see if I can find it.
family plan
I've looked everywhere and can't find the initial info they sent.  Maybe someone else who has a family plan through MQ or at least can find their introductory info on the insurance plan can answer this.  Sorry!
They do not pay anything on family coverage, IMO. That is why I would rather be an IC and buy

my own policy versus being an employee of a service.  When you think about it, being an employee for most of the services out there offers no real benefits at all.  I have found that the PTO that some of these companies offer as part of their benefits package is a crappy.  You basically get paid a base hourly rate for any PTO you take and that base rate never EVER equals what you actually make when typing.  So you are basically penalized for taking time off.

And health insurance benefit packages are a joke!  They pay nothing for family coverage and not to mention there is always the threat looming over your head that if your production falls, they can take your benefits away.

If I were you, I would either be an IC and buy your own policy or try to get on with a hospital that offers work at home MT jobs.  Hospitals are the only places that offer decent health insurance coverage for families.  I have my own accounts and bought a health insurance policy for my kids and I, but recently I took a job with a hospital just for the insurance.  So now I have my own accounts plus I work FT for a hospital from home.  I pay $175 a month for family coverage with a $1000 family deductible.  It was financially a smarter move for me to go to work as an employee with the hospital because I'm saving a bundle on insurance.

Again, let me say, I would NEVER go back to work as an employee for a service.  They don't offer anything that I would consider benefits.  You're better off buying your own policy.

If you are single and have no family

go for it.   My situation was a bit different in that I wasn't running out of work, just testing the waters.  I applied to about a dozen companies, offered positions with each, took 3 positions to figure which I liked best.  I had worked for a small local company for 13 years as my only experience so was really clueless.   I found it really difficult to switch from the various accounts and scheduling became a nightmare because I really had no clear-cut hours or line counts.  It got to where I wasn't doing a good job, just doing the lines and not caring about the product, plus I was screaming at my son for bothering me while I was trying to work.  Just wasn't worth it.

Single or family? nm

Family coverage
is about $217 per pay period. I think you have to get this one if you have more than one child.
Yes they have family coverage

but I do not need that right now.  I have a schedule but they are flexible hours so that really helps.  Pay does include all spaces, but what I like is the direct deposit and the steady work.  I have been with Medware for 2 years and always have work.  If my primary is out they give you a back up account.  Finally my income meets my needs and I can move ahead with some things around the house that needed fixing.  Plus it's nice knowing I have good health insurance.

Family is about $240 or so a pay period
Including dental and vision.
WMX has best overall family coverage
I absolutely agree 1000%!!! It has great benefits.
For me the family insurance...
is high compared to my husband's insurance, but then again, his insurance is AWESOME, so I did not need the coverage. This is based where I live, and I am in PA. Their vision IS better than my husband's though so I did get that, and the dental coverage is not bad either, but again, my husband's covers ortho whereas they do not. Overally, they do have good benefits compared to other companies I have worked for. HTH
Less than $360 for family at MQ. Med/Den/Vision
nm
It's an American family; however
looking at their website, it does say they have significant private equity in India.

How much is insurance for a family at TT
nm
How much does insurance for family
coverage cost with Axolotl? I could not find anything on their web site that said.
Does anyone on here work for them that knows. Thanks.
Whatever it takes for family first IMO. (sm)
TT has more work coming on, these are good people who really care about us.

We still have to work some holidays but I saw a memo allowing us to flex our time that day to allow us to enjoy our family. The 2 major holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas you rotate, work one one year, the other the next. But it really is no problem if you can flex it around your family activities.

Good luck to you whichever way you choose.

Family rates
My rate sheet only included prices for single, with spouse, with children, but not for family. We tried calling but Aetna is closed today. Did anyone get the family rate for HMO2 for Aetna family? Thanks in advance for your help.
I can see the family rates

You have to arrow over all the way to the right to see the prices for family plans .... way over to the right.

family rate?
Do you know what the family rate is?
Benefits for whole family
How much is the health insurance premium for self, spouse and child(ren)? Do you know how much is taken out every 2 weeks?
That is for family coverage.
Maybe there are people that might have had a different experience, but just giving my opinion. I have also heard their platform sucks before from other people.
I went the last 2 weeks with $3 for my family of 3.
a couple of weeks ago it was $5.  I remember the good old days, too.  Christmas off AND paid and time and a half AND an extra day off if you worked, bonus, affordable insurance that actually covered our expenses, being able to pay the bills and having money left over, and having RESPECT.  All of that with just 1 job.  Now it's gone with the wind.
That is the exact same for me, need one day for family!
xx
Axolotl is right around $300 for family s/m
This includes health and dental.  They pay your vision, LTD and STD.  Great Company!!
I know it is less for MT and spouse than for family sm
but don't know the cost as I'm single.
Not an attorney, but have 2 in the family ...sm

My son-in-law is a newbie lawyer who does have an interest in labor law and the like.  I've had numerous conversations with him re. the MTSOs and all they're able to get by with.  Regarding your post above, the difference is ASKING YOU TO and REQUIRING YOU TO.

In any job paying on production, if there's no work on your shift DUE TO NO FAULT OF THE EMPLOYER (and this does NOT include having sent your work to VR when you on a straight MT shift and you're out of work) they may REQUEST that you make it up at a later date - this must be a mutually agreeable time.  But THEY CANNOT REQUIRE you to make up work at a specific time - they must pay you minimum hourly wage for your time in that case.

And that they will treat you like FAMILY, too.
Can't argue that one. I guess like most of MY family, these yahoos would never pay me what they owed me, either.

I cannot believe they still have the audacity to advertise here.

I have it 2. Pay about $50 for full family coverage.
Yep, all maintenance is paid 100% - major stuff pays very well, too. I really like it, and have had it for years and years.  Nothing exciting, but good basic dental coverage. I like the $1000 a year per kid for braces! Sure helps with 3 in them!!  I think its just the normal probationary period til it starts - 3 months? Honestly don't remember reading anything about waiting a year for braces though.
Could you tell me how much your insurance runs for family?
Thanks..
That's not bad for single, but I really need family coverage.
Anyone know what these companies preminums are like for family coverage.. Thanks.
Depends...are you a single, or do you need ins for family? sm
I work for Medware and can tell you that as a single I pay $48 per month for medical (dental and vision are extra on top of that). I don't know how much spouse and/or children add to that.
It is 1 day for extended family, 3 days for immediate.
They do pay a portion of the health insuance. I came from a company with no benefits and I made $83K with Keystrokes this year. I am not complaining!
Good for you!!! Me too!! And I tell all my family and friends

I spoke to a clinic that is/was using it.  They said it was the worst thing they had ever seen.  You could actually have a rash on your face, but by the time the machine *reaches* out for the nearest sounding word, you may end up with some dread disease.  And face it, nobody but nobody has time to READ EVERY REPORT FOR ACCURACY AND CORRECTNESS this day and time. Well, by golly, come to think of it, that's what MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONISTS USED TO DO, before we were replaced by machines that can't spell or know a toenail from a hangnail in the grand scheme of things.

I'm like you, the first time I find something in my reports, they will hear from my lawyer.  I won't even waste the time being on hold, calling the hospital or doctor.

sure you got the same email? According to mine, the family
and what they are moving away from is (was) top notch.

You only pay a deductible for certain services (hospitilizations and such) but for office visits and routine well care and RX, the copays are decent. The vision plan and dental plan stayed about the same.
