Horribly slow, worse some days more than others.

We got an e-mail this week that there was a message on the community board, thought I didn't think it really said much and there was no timeline for a fix.   My STM said a fix was on the front burner.  I'm doing about 400 less lines a day at least.

Seems like I'm working 12, though clock says only 7.

Things are horribly bad right now at OSi...
Not sure what they think are going to accomplish, but they are reorganizing the upper management, getting rid of people, creating new titles, it is all just weird. Too many secrets. Just wish we could come to work every day and not have to worry about being transferred to several different accounts in 1 day. I have a friend who works for another company, and has for almost 2 years and has been on the same account the whole time. Has never had to learn another. Ahhh...the perfect job!
Been there. My company didn't treat me horribly
but because I could do the very worst ESLs I got dumped on.  Work is assigned by the company and there isn't supposed to be cherry-picking, but there obviously was.  I could do the dictation, but it slowed me down considerably.  On top of the bad dictator it seemed the sound quality was also bad.  I would be stressed at the end of the day and end up with a headache.  If I were getting paid by the hour I would have still be a bit stressed, but not as much because I didn't have to worry about producing lines.  My MTSO has told me a couple of stories too.  I have looked for another position a couple of times, but every company that offered me a position didn't want to pay me what I was currently making, didn't allow me the flexibility that I have, didn't have the friendly platform that I currently have, and I had to be connected to the internet to work the whole time.  I like to get outside when the weather is nice and with my current job I download my work and then I can get off-line.  I can take my laptop outside and work.   I still read the job boards on occasion, but I have decided I can't do any better anywhere else, so I'll just accept whatever issues there are and deal with them.
That's a horribly offensive term. I wouldn't compare some drama

Depends on the account. Work on VR lately has been slow. Just like all companies, we have slow times

Honestly though, I have only had 2-3 times in the past 2 years where it was like the other day...no work... It did pick up later but I just think it's important not to make someone think we're overloaded with work all the time. That would not be fair to them if they end up with high expectations.

No - it is not always slow! Depends on the company and hospital. I have never been slow this time
Slow time is usually in September when everyone is back to work/school from the summer months.

Been doing this 24 years and never slow this time of year. Actually, I am drowning in work - can't keep up.
Yes, VERY heavy ESL.
xx
Why would getting top heavy with
I can understand not answering emails but top heavy with management really isn't any of the MTs business.
despite the heavy negatives
i vote MQ; tried a couple smaller companies -- but when you roll into the mix all the various factors, its my choice place to be. and furthermore, its my family's sole income and as a FT employee -- i'm not even worried about the lawsuits and all. The company is constantly improving. There are no signs of sell-out or collapse, only of strength.
MDI-FL'ers, can you do 250 LPH, even with heavy

Heavy turnover
Big turnover on this account. They constantly advertise. Look elsewhere.
OSI heavy on the offshoring, I believe.

Heavy ESL account...sm
I happen to work on the heavy ESL account at Axolotl. It is difficult, I won't lie. There are not many Asian dictators, but I have many years of experience with ESLs and I do find it to be quite difficult. I have only been with Axolotl since July and just moved over onto this account a few weeks back, but it was my secondary prior to that. I think with time, they are very doable; however, it is not a huge money-making account. I can't come near the 250-300 lph I used to be able to do (which might be age showing, too), but I love this company and they are very accommodating in many ways! Work has been slow lately, but is supposed to be picking up as this account brings on more work. If you are up for a challenge and would like to work for a great company, I'd say go for it. They are really, really good about filling in blanks and providing feedback and you can even relisten to the job which helps you learn them better! e-mail me if you'd like!
Heavy ESL is probably exactly why I got that callback...
now that you mention it. Before I quit, they had me in a very heavy ESL account. That's not specifically why I left (didn't help), it was a combination of things, mainly that I couldn't move through the junk quickly enough to make a decent paycheck anymore and knew it was not gonna get better there. Of course, I was told at the time that was all they could give me. We do not have a fit for you, yeah, buddy. Going back would just mean more mistreatment. I personally hope they have to fold.
Count on heavy Mon and Tues and then
computer up to 14 hours or so a day to wait for work to drop in to get your line count, or you can just work 365 days/yr. They will tell you to work outside your schedule if there is not work and expect you to have a consistent daily line count.
You are NEW !! TransTech is HEAVY into VR. Where did you get your info from?

Every account is about 75%-80% VR -- unless it a new account which the voice machine has not been able to interpret the doctor yet.  You just wait . . . your turn is coming for VR.  They beg for more editors to be trained each and every week.

How well does eScription do on heavy ESL physicians?
Also, how long after using this platform did you find yourself doubling in your productivity?  Anything you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
How many of these VR lines for heavy ESL dictators?
Thanks.
Their pay is the pits unless you're a heavy producer. nm

18 years acute care, heavy ESL. Thank you.

The work is pretty darned heavy now!

People have said the ESL load with FN is very heavy AND they don't offer DD. nm

Doesn't that chip on your shoulder ever get heavy?
Maybe you should consider a career change. Being locked up all day away from the real world has obviously made you bitter and a tad dillusional. Have you considered counseling?
On my TT account, the only times heavy editing
Is required is if there is a bad connection (static and muffled connections wreak havoc with Escription, as with any VR system). Other than that, my production is probably 2.5 times greater than it is with straight transcription; essentially, the means my pay increased slightly with the transition to VR.

I believe the poster means that if you cannot catch *nonsense* the system churns out and correct it, then that person really shouldn't be an MT because details is what our jobs are all about.
Wow, that's a sturdy, heavy cup -- I'm surprised. I didn't take the job with them sm

about a year ago and I have had regrets a few times, but seeing all this I guess God was looking out for me and I made the right decison after all.  I'm so sorry that this is happening to everyone.  I never heard of cutting someone's pay after hired but then again, a lot of things have happened in the past few years that I never thought would happen.

Good luck.

Lots of people like it here even though the ESL load is supposed to be heavy. nm

HEAVY ESLs, will not switch accounts if you are having difficulty, and more...sm
Plus you have to pay $25.00 every payday to get your check UPS to you.  Now, I never have known UPS to charge $25.00 to mail a letter overnight!  They must be making profit off of it.  The worst ESLs ever!  I have worked for many years as a MT but NEVER had this horrible of ESLs.  Not to mention the VERY RUDE QA staff!  Supervisors and work flow are nice.  I would think twice.  But pay was always on time and always correct.  You just have to balance out.  They used to run out of work too.  Don't know if that has changed or not.
Posts here from last month said the ESL load was unusually heavy. nm

The account is not bad but it has heavy Hispanic dictators. I worked on it for another company and
get used to it, it is a great account. If you really want a different account, just talk to them. They are really good about switching accounts for people. Call Becky in the office. She is the HIM coordinator now according to her email signature line. She is the best!

What I do when its slow

I do exactly what the email they sent out to us says.  If there isnt any work during my shift, I leave and take the kids somewhere, clean or do laundry, make dinner early or whatever.  Then when work comes in, I work.  If work is there during my shift but there isnt a lot, I take what I can and then go do my thing and come back later.   When work is slow, I do work longer  hours trying to get work in.  I get a good line count in too.  I am not in this career for others.  I am in it to feed my family.  I am in it for a paycheck.  If work is slow, I will take what I can get when I can get it.  I type fast and am productive and I will not go without.

The email they sent out said to t ype during early morning hours or at night when the work is in there.  So that is what everyone has to do.  First come, first serve.  We all have the same chance of getting on there and getting the work.  The early bird gets the worm, ya know.  This MT that has 20,000 lines per pay.  I think that is great.  I try to get that also.  There is nothing wrong with that or unbelievable about that.  It all boils down to how bad you want it.

slow
outdated platform, new QA guidelines for the birds.  I'm trying to find something else now.
You can slow it down (sm)
In your transnet player box, there's a box that says more or something like that. I'm not logged in right now and can't remember.  But, it's at the bottom right of the transnet player box.  Click that, and you can adjust the volume, speed, etc.

Please tell me how.  When I do it it does not give me that option.  Help!!

Slow for me, too.
There just is not the level of work available that I would expect, sometimes nothing at all, this is on the same account you asked about, looks like the monitor took that part out. Went from a hundred report backup to a job trickling in here and there, started to dry up around Christmas but seems to me it never recovered. That's not a seasonal slump, the work may be going elsewhere.
DQM slow?

my first job is taking FOREVER to come up...anybody else?

Still slow
I guess it is feast or famine depending on account because they are still just trickling through.
It's slow for me, too.
nm
It's Slow Everywhere
Yeah, it's just that time of the year when people have better things to do than go to the hospital I guess. In my 18 years experience in medical transcription there are always these slow times occasionally. It will pick up. I'm not worried. I socked back some when it was busy and I was getting those great bonuses TT gives us. People have been on here slamming TT saying everything from there being too many transcriptionists on accounts and even accusing them of outsourcing. That is one thing they do not do and I really feel that my statement is accurate. You can tell by the job numbers that work has been slow. I was transcribing a report a couple of weeks ago and there was a female yelling out to a doctor that was walking away and she said, Hey, get back to that office and bring us in some patients...we're hurting here. Confirmation to me. I love Transtech and plan on hanging in there with them until the cows come home. Good luck and don't worry...it's gonna pick up soon.
I do not think it is slow everywhere!
But, that being said, I honestly wonder why people feel the need to say this sort of thing out here? It makes more sense to be in touch with your company and get it straightened out than be in this state of upset when a phone call or an email might give you a direct answer.
